We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Personality: (Bits of his personality and history will be used from the series' regular canon as well for the sake of fleshing him out a smidge. He is the male version of Marceline, another character from the show, but has not personally been in the show enough for an entire three paragraph thesis on his personality without fudging around a bit. ~~I'm also the kind of person who did poorly writing outlines for papers but could write 'em out just fine regardless!~~)

A life of immortality and a thousand years of somewhat solitude have shaped Marshall Lee into the way he is today. A millennium of "life" can jade a young-at-heart vampire with the body and mind of a teenager so Marshall Lee tends to get bored pretty easily, always looking for fun or a way to create his own. He is extremely carefree and loves to joke around but in a way that could be taken as mean-spirited, rude and rough, sometimes even just to incite a reaction. When he involves others in his entertainment, he can act selfishly and impulsively, often thinking of his own enjoyment over the well-being of the others. Sometimes, he even can be purposely manipulative by tricking people or using selective vocabulary if it offers a higher level of dark comedy to the situation. His attitude is somewhat mischievous and he is not easily scared or intimidated. If asked, he'll be the first to admit that living for so long has caused him to lose his moral code.

He appears to have a confident exterior, reveling in who he is and his relationships with people but tends to classify himself as an evil villain and tries to live up to that, acting out in violent ways for attention or self-confirmation. Marshall Lee presents himself as a cool and calm badass with not a single care to give to anyone else. The cruel shell he presents make him a very lonely, slow-to-warm sort of person but once he grabs onto someone, he is not quick to let go. His emotions can get the best of him and sometimes, Marshall Lee's behavior can escalate quite quickly from prank to danger. Despite this, he is quick to feel remorse when it is shoved in his face and can even own up to his mistakes if he actually cares.

Marshall Lee definitely loves to look cool, from his punkish appearance, to his need to seem fun. Though he is somewhat free with how he feels, he expresses himself much better through song if finding the words is too tough. He carries around a journal which he uses for song inspiration, jotting down things that happen, funny anecdotes and long lists of words that rhyme. If Hot Topic existed anywhere in his peripheral, he'd definitely be the kind of guy to hit that store up but for now, he'll just rock his lumberjack shirt like a hurricane.

Abilities/Powers: Marshall Lee is a musical man of many skills. He loves to play the guitar and totes it around like a third arm, ad-libbing songs and raps as he plays. He can rhyme on a dime and exhibits a lot of creativity with his lyrics. Secondarily to his powers over song, he also happens to be a vampire, gaining many abilities through his undead status. He is often seen utilizing his power of flight, floating around as if the ground isn't inches below his toes and lounging in the air as if on an invisible couch. He is also able to shape shift into a few horrible and hideous monster forms, his favorite being that of a giant bat that stands on two legs. Because he is the vampire king, he has a proficient level of Necromancy and is able to raise the dead to do his bidding whether he needs skeleton slaves to attack or just drop some phat beats for his musical number. Though he carries an umbrella around to avoid it it, direct contact with sunlight hurts his skin and burns him (or could even melt him like the Wicked Witch if there's too much), he can instant heal himself if necessary. He also possesses telekinesis, pyrokinesis and can turn himself invisible, you know, like most vampires can. (This could be due to the fact that he's the son of a demon.) He is also immune to mirrors. Cast Reflect all you want, it's not very effective.
Items/Weapons: Marshall Lee will bring his handy dandy retractable pink umbrella in case of sunlight and he will, of course, bring his electric guitar in the shape of an axe to strum upon and rock out. He also has his song journal as previously mentioned used for inspiration.
Sample Entry:[ Craning his neck back to see just how tall the Billboard is, he smiles before hopping into the air and floating up the entirety of its height. Though the visible audience wasn't exactly plentiful, this would make a perfect stage for his next song.

He glances briefly at the man and woman behind the peeling paint as he floats on by. ]

Aw, isn't that cute? Not to be a brute but the point seems moot. I'm just acute, can't you see? Take it from me, Marshall Lee.

[ He lands on the top of the billboard, guitar in hand. ]

Here, it's quite clear, it's fear that we endear like the Nightosphere. So sit back as I attack a place so black like a raven. A place called Haven..

[ Proud of himself, he takes a bow. ]

Sample Entry Two: Marshall Lee looked at his new surroundings and could help but note just how dark, dreary and depressing with the added aura of death sprinkled in the mix they were. He loved it. He quickly pulled out his Song Inspiration Journal and jotted down the plethora of new D-words this place had inspired.

"Hm…" he thought out loud, tapping his chin with the capped end of his pen. Now that he was trying to think of words, it was a bit harder but inspiration was no stranger to a lyricist with one thousand years of experience. An idea lightbulb flickered above his head but, preferring the darkness, he quickly doused it before writing down a few more words. "Dank and damp, dingy, dusty and decrepit," he added with a slight smirk. "Heh, gross."

He shut the book and put it away on his person, levitating himself up higher to get a better look. He glanced around to survey the area. Not a cute little bunny or squirrel or adorable house-person in sight. No happy children or smiling mushrooms to hum merrily while Marshall Lee tried to sing his own songs. He slightly wondered if there was anybody to talk to or entertain himself with in this area. Not that he wanted to talk to anyone, he insisted to himself, it was just a simple curiosity that now had to be found out. Surely he could find someone to listen to the Desolate Dwelling song that would be ready but he time he found them, so off he flew in search of an audience.
