Applications

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Severa | Fire Emblem | Reserved, 2/3

[personal profile] pause 2013-04-12 01:05 am (UTC)(link)

Personality:
An ice cold queen that’s quick to anger and hard to handle. Severa’s a difficult person to deal with and it’s something she doesn’t really want to change. Oh, she didn't mean to turn out that way, but things don’t always go how we want them too, and the hardships she has dealt with have hardened her exterior to the point where it’s both a shield and a cage. Aside from the war against Grima, Severa has to fight another, more personal war against society and against herself. Being born from an exemplary woman and warrior means she’s lived in her mother’s shadow entire life. It’s hard enough living up to your own expectations, much more so the expectations of others.

The expectations placed on her weren’t too far from the truth, and she quickly learned that she could never become Cordelia. Not being allowed to show weakness nor frustration, only living by what she should do to be closer to what her mother is and pushing back her true self, Severa wasn’t even capable of taking it out on the source of her troubles. Her mother was diligent, responsible, kind, and many other positive adjectives. Even when Severa behaved rudely, Cordelia could take it in stride, never letting her child feel unloved or a disappointment, which only led to more frustration. Despite everything, she was still her mother, and she loved her. This continued on until, one day, Cordelia fell in battle.

The person she admires the most would never show her back to her.

The person she loves the most will never give her warmth again.

Not even allowed to grieve for her mother, Cordelia’s death only brought upon more pressure. How will Severa fill in her gap? Whispers and side glances at a girl who could not be relied on like her mother could. A girl who didn’t cry, who was difficult to handle, who couldn’t fight like her mother did, who couldn’t do anything right. It’s implied that she was isolated, classed as a failure. She couldn’t do a job nearly as good as her mother’s, so she was cast off. They didn’t consider that she might be hurting, that she has emotions and regrets and insecurities.

Oh, and she has a lot of those.

Behind the hard, cold front there’s a girl that wants to be approved of. She wants her parents to be proud of her, to be relied on, to be found useful. She’s never been able to measure up to her mother according to those who knew her, which has led her to think she’s worthless. Either not as pretty or smart, or never doing chores like Cordelia did either. Doesn’t that mean that she’s a disappointment? Despite all of her hard work, she will never reach the heights her mother did. She should just die.

This is why her large array of weapons are more than just swords and axes. Sharp glares and biting words have become an exoskeleton thicker than any armor she owns. They’re the daggers under her sleeves, the quick way to stab people right where it hurts. Unlike most girls who do this though, Severa knows it. She knows what she’s doing, she knows when she’s pushing people away, even go so far as to warn others about it. As Severa grew up, she found a way to hide all the hurt and hate, and adapted this sort of personality. She won’t be manipulated by the masses and she won’t become her mother, so you either accept her as she is or you do not deserve to see her at her best; this is the sort of idea she wants to give. To make others believe she’s fine, that she’s strong and can take care of herself. What started as a defense mechanism has turned into a reflex towards anything that attempts to speak to her. A cage, a bind, a line between her and everyone else, that which isolates her from others more than anything.

It’s sad, though, because Severa can be really sweet. She’s usually compassionate to the weak and the bullied; if they don’t deserve it, that is. There’s a difference between being difficult and just being an asshole, so she treats those sort of people well. Taking care of Noire, going so far as to take her to the bathroom in the middle of the night and cleaning up after her messes, it’s clear that she cares a lot for her. When asked on why she’s so kind to her, she replies that being mean to her would be “like kicking a puppy... when it’s asleep." Her support with Kjelle is Severa teaching her how to be a proper female, which might seem like a silly thing to worry over, especially in times of war, but Severa isn't one to waste time with people she didn't care about.

Abilities/Powers:
Despite her insecurities, she is actually a very good fighter, being one of the few females who's original class is mercenary. The Mercenary class are fighters who deal heavy damage while being able to take a few hits themselves, and are good with swords. This is all because of her training though, Severa doesn't have any supernatural powers.
