APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October
IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE
We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.
In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.
You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.
Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.
If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.
Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.
Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.
We now have a test drive community athaventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Personality: In Chrom's army, everyone's a little bit unique. Maybe one's got difficulties falling asleep. Maybe one's the best at peeling potatoes. And maybe one is not only the fastest to run away when dangerous situations arise, but this one can go from being timid and soft-spoken to screaming, laughing maniacally and becoming absolutely abrasive when stress comes a-callin'.
Meet Noire. Due to her mother's tendency to test all of her curses on her ever since she was a wee young thing, she's grown into quite the downcast pessimist with a weak constitution, easily startled and frightened of bugs, hexes, and speaking her mind. She's not much for dynamic actions and charging into battle is something she prefers to leave her more energetic allies, but then there are times when she... changes. Originally due to a talisman meant to help her deal with her fear and dislike of violence and crippling lack of self-confidence, Noire possesses an alter-ego, one who has no problems stating her ire or threatening violence or just plain insulting people. Talisman aside, this side of her usually surfaces when Noire's stress levels reach the breaking point; in a support with the female Morgan, she explains that it tends to happen when lots of little things build up, culminating in her ranting and raving over something as trivial as being tired of walking. As terrifying as this part of her can be, it usually aids Noire in helping her get out what she has to say, and it's why she's able to fight in her paralogue-- she's scared to take up the bow until she uses her talisman, and then she's ready to take on any enemy. The talisman is later taken away by Tharja, but as stated before, Noire no longer needs it.
As you can probably guess, a lot of her personality and her views come from her parents and her loss of them. Having been subjected to her mother's experimental hexes day after day, Noire's constantly paranoid about anything the slightest bit unnatural-- including finding random objects or feeling stronger after a battle. Understandably, she dreads Tharja's hexes, but she also seeks to learn them, presumably as a way to establish another tie between her and her mother and to earn her approval. No matter what suffering she went through at her mother's hands, she loves her deeply and doesn't blame her in the slightest for being too busy avenging her husband's death to pay much attention to her daughter's learning. She died protecting her, after all, and Noire even comes to understand that the reason she never learned hexes was that her mother loved her and didn't want her involved in the risks that it took to perform such dark magic. With her father, you get to see Noire's stance regarding her situation: ultimately, she's not convinced that coming to the past will actually change the future, especially when history repeats itself. But when he confiscates his wife's cursing tools in order to prevent her from using them on Noire, something he'd never done in the future, that action is enough to give Noire a spark of hope. A thought that maybe the future can change for the better.
Given the fact that Noire is afraid of most everything and is prone to flying into rages at random moments, you'd think she would be considered a handful among her allies. ... And you would be right. In her supports with Severa, Noire messes up more often than not, getting herself sick, needing to be accompanied to the bathroom, etc. She terrifies Inigo by shooting arrows perilously close to him, in order to dissuade any questionable ladies from getting close. Still, she truly means well, and Noire at heart is actually a very sweet girl who takes active steps to improve herself and to help others. In one support, she asks an ally to help her overcome her fear of bugs, rather than moping over how pathetic a weakness it is. She hides Yarne without asking why when he comes running to her for help. She looks after the female avatar after she collapses from exhaustion, begging her not to take on all their burdens and offering a listening ear when she needs it. She's also got a bad habit of pushing herself, despite her frail nature and anemia; this means there's an increased chance of her falling backwards because she's carrying something too heavy, or collapsing because she overdoes it, but no one can say that Noire doesn't try her utmost to be useful to everyone else. She may dislike fighting, and she might still be scared, but when it comes to doing her part, she'll join her comrades on the battlefield (shaking all the way).
Also she's surprisingly good at baking. Yes, this is a notable talent.
Overall, Noire might be self-deprecating, but she's willing to better herself. She might be scared of
everythingher mother's hexes, but she still wants to be useful. She's eccentric, but she's strong, in her own way, and she's just as committed to fighting for what's important as her friends are. She... just has to be able to train effectively without collapsing first.Abilities/Powers: Like the other orphaned kids from a grim future fighting undead soldiers for the sake of survival, Noire's no stranger to warfare and has fought more than her fair share of battles. She demonstrates a prowess with the bow especially, even when she's initially weaponless in her paralogue. According to her mother, a very powerful dark mage, Noire has incredible magical potential but has never actually succeeded in hexing anyone. In combat situations, she can wield dark magic perfectly fine, and she's actually self-taught in that respect, teaching herself magic from observing her mother. Her go-to weapon remains the bow, though, and as such, her game skills are related to her Archer class-- as seen below, translated ICly.
Items/Weapons:
- Her mother's ring

Sample Entry Two:
Mother would have been delighted, Noire had decided, not long after she'd begun her (very very cautious, tiny-stepped) exploration of her surroundings. This place, so desolate and discarded, accompanied by the prickling sensation of having someone's eyes fixated on you-- it was a dark mage's dream come true. Which of course meant that it did very little to grant Noire a sense of security. So far, the only consolation seemed to be that she hadn't stumbled across a single bug yet. Which was a relief! She had no wish to use up too much energy screaming and running in terror, not when she had to focus on survival and information-gathering. It had been awhile since she'd been truly alone, though... the depressing nature of that thought was starting to get to her, which only made her feel worse. Because maybe she'd been spoiled, being able to find a second home with younger parents, with her friends, because anything had been better than the world where very little remained. Was this a punishment, perhaps? Or a curse, something even stronger than her mother's? Something like this... couldn't be anything but a very dark curse.
Was anyone else even here? She'd tried calling out, timidly, but no one had responded and she hadn't wanted to start screaming without knowing what else would emerge if she did. The odd, battered device she'd discovered could prove useful... but what if she broke it? It would be just her luck, damaging something that was probably important, and if this was her only possible connection to seeing everyone again, she had to handle it with extreme care.
She flinched suddenly, distracted from her own gloomy thoughts by-- a shadow? Had something just moved? Was someone following her? Was she about to be attacked? This wasn't fair! She had enough on her hands fighting a war in her own world, in not even her own time, and now this had to happen when Naga only knew where her friends were and--
"BLOOD AND THUNDER!" For once, the rage boiling through her at the unfairness of it all was welcome. At least now if something did attack, she could shoot it down with no hesitation whatsoever. "INSOLENT CREATURES WHO SEEK MY DESTRUCTION, I'LL STRIKE WITH THE SWIFTNESS AND FEROCITY OF THE BLACKEST CURSE UNTIL THERE'S NOTHING LEFT OF YOU TO REGRET!!"
So much for not being loud.
