We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

Abilities/Powers: Teru Mikami is a completely ordinary human. There is nothing about him that would strike an average earthling as unusual, neither in looks nor in powers. To be said about him is that he is intelligent. Not to the level of 'extraordinary genius' that is so common in his canon, but at least slightly above the ordinary.
Physically, he is strong but not a trained fighter. Mikami keeps his body healthy and trains so he is able to defend himself and others, but he does not have abilities in any specific kind of martial arts.
During his time in Badfic Manor he bettered his skills at shooting guns considerably though. He also got a general impression of wildlife survival strategies, but he's not an expect and relying on him is not recommend unless there are no other sources available.

Items/Weapons: Mikami will arrive with a simple gun, a pair of replacement glasses and a Blackberry phone, which will no longer function and refuse to be even turned on.

[ Judging by the way he's speaking, on could falsely assume Mikami was not nervous. He talks professionally, without any hesitation in his wording. His serious tone is that of someone who is used to speaking to public. ]

Please excuse the sudden interruption. My name is Teru Mikami and I am a new arrival. I suppose none of you have ever made contact with a being who calls herself 'the Author', is that correct? In the unlikely event that there is anybody here who has once been a resident of her Manor, I'd like to have a talk.

[ For a split second he trails off, but then with a clearing of his throat he's right back to his serious announcement. ]

If there is a law enforment or anything similar here, then I would also like to get in touch with one of those involved.
Other than that, I require information of this place. If you could help me out with any knowledge that appears crucial to you, I would truly appreciate it. Aside from the general circumstances, I am wondering about the lack of text specifically.

Sample Entry Two:
It was dark when Mikami woke up, but even so he noticed that the room was unfamiliar. It wasn't an unusual occurence with the Author, but each time it happened Mikami felt his stomache twist a little at the unexpected change. For a minute he just layed breathing, then he was ready to start his day and figure out where they had ended up this time. In sitting up another surprise awaited him. Usually romming arrangements stayed as they were, even when they were sent off to a field trip. In this room, however, there were five more beds. The feeling of being uncomfortable with sharing a room faded back behind a wave of wariness regarding this new situation. Mikami flung his legs off the bed and stood up, careful not to make any noise. He didn't know the location of the light switch in this place, but he didn't need it either to see that the other sleepers were foreigners to him.
His thoughts started racing. All of this was out of pattern, completely unlike the behaviour he had studied so well in the past years. Fumbling he reached for his blackberry to make a text post asking for further information. He did not doubt that Hakuba or maybe some others were up early, investigating this matter as well. As he tried to switch it on, nothing happened. The man tried again, but after a moment he had to acknlowdge the phone was broken. Mikami paused. This was not just off-throwing but downright alarming.

He decided to leave the room for now, so he wouldn't have to deal with the remaining sleepers and could get a better overview on things. Making an effort to stay silent he moved out into a run-down kitchen. The apocalyptic flair had something dirty to it that made Mikami want to take a shower immediately. This silent way of altering things was new. This wasn't like the Author at all. Teru brushed a bit of air out of his face and thought. As it was, he likely had to wait for the other sleepers to wake up and hope they knew some more. Going out into the foreign city on his own when his blackberry was not working was way too dangerous. He considered sitting down as he waited, but the chair neither seemed clean nor stable. Absentmindedly he took something that looked like a recipe book out of the shelf but he only found blank pages inside. Almost a bit too fast he put the book back. Mikami really wanted a cup of coffee now to help process everything, but that'd have to be delayed until he knew he could trust this kitchen's contents.
