Applications

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Nagito Komaeda | Super Dangan Ronpa 2 | Reserved (3/3)

Sample Entry:
It's strange, isn't it?

[Komaeda's face appears on the video, finger tapping to his chin absent mindedly, as though his thoughts are elsewhere. And they are. He holds up a blank sheet of paper.] No matter what I write down, it vanishes entirely. I've timed it a few times now. It's always about half an hour or so.

[He taps at the paper with a finger.] I wrote an entire paragraph here. But it's gone.

[Lowering the paper, he smiles, head canting to the side just slightly.] It's an interesting mystery, isn't it? Usually things happen for some kind of reason, don't they? In a place where there isn't any writing, could it be that it wants to obliterate its own history?

That's what separates history from prehistory, isn't it, when humanity first began to chronicle the things they saw around them! It was a remarkable step forward, a sudden surge of hope that humanity wanted to build upon everything they already were. Aah. It gives me chills to think about.

[And said chills have him physically shivering for a moment before he frowns.] That makes this puzzle all the more important to solve. But someone as worthless as I am can't even think of a good way to unravel it.

Sample Entry Two:
Komaeda could not help but think that he should be used to these sorts of things by now. Enough days had been ruined by his luck that it should be no shock whatsoever. And yet, he still managed to be vaguely surprised every now and again. Today was one of those days. But then again, maybe the shock had something to do with the sudden and unexpected fall. That could be it. Wincing, he glanced upwards with a bit of a frown. The floorboards beneath his feet had given out with a deafening crack, and gravity had taken over the rest.

Sitting up, he couldn't hold in a little grunt as a pain shot straight through him, right up along the line of his shoulder. Ah. That was unfortunate. It wasn't moving well at all, probably dislocated if the searing pain in it was any indication. Struggling to his feet a bit unsteadily, he shook his head. Well. That was bad luck. But, that meant that he was meant to be down in this place.

Pale eyes cast about the dusty, dimly lit basement. Only the bravest rays of the sun made it in this far, and they did little to show him anything of much use. But he wouldn't give up so easily. Even trash like him could manage to put some effort into exploring, especially since the way his luck worked, it would be foolish to turn away from this place. This city was strange, so empty and seemingly cast in the faded, graying light of a world on its way to ending. But it was not dead yet, and that spark of hope that drove the people who lived here to move on day after day after day. It was... it was beautiful. More beautiful than anything he had ever imagined. He wanted to be part of it. Somehow, some small part. Even as a stepping stone for those with more talent and worth than him to use as they journeyed farther, he'd be happy if he could! So happy.

Eventually his gaze lit upon a cobweb covered pile of wood and scrap metal in the corner. Cradling his injured shoulder, he made his way towards it. With his good hand he reached out to pull at one of the larger planks, eyes widening at what he saw beneath. Tossing the board aside, he reached for the much more interesting thing he'd revealed beneath it. An old crowbar, roughened and rusted on its surface, but still! It would be a useful thing, in a place like this. It was a lucky find, really, and he tucked it into his belt now. Lucky lucky!

Now hopefully his luck also had a way to get him out of this basement that didn't involve any more rotting floorboards.
