Applications

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Tomoe || Kamisama Hajimemashita || No Reserve (3/3)

Sample Entry: [The video feed opens to the view of a peeved-looking familiar, ears flat against his head and eyes narrowed. With the way he stared so contemptuously at the screen, it was obvious he wasn’t all too pleased to have the battered old phone in his hands.]

Is it on now? [His voice is laden with exasperation. It seems he’s been messing with the phone for quite some time now, but has only just gotten it to work.] Such a useless thing, it’s no wonder you humans haven’t achieved anything significant yet. You’re all too busy making stupid toys and trinkets that do nothing of note, and all of those precious metals you’re wasting…

[It wasn’t his intention to lecture anybody on the advancement of their civilization on the video feed; he had originally intended to get the phone to work in order to find out where his master was, but it had taken so long to get said phone to work that he was not in the mood to ask anybody for help now. Besides, if Nanami WAS here she’d know of his presence thanks to feed, and would be thoroughly embarrassed by the aggressive harangue he was giving to the listening crowd.]

…And this glowing screen is pointless, I can think of several devices more effective than this, like paper lanterns. [He pauses, eyes widening a slight fraction in surprise. He unconsciously made his point just then; he could have said that in lieu of his entire speech!] Actually, that’s it. Paper products are far more useful than these toys of yours.

[The feed abruptly cuts off, and everybody is blessed with silence. For now.]

Sample Entry Two:

He sets the phone down on the bed with rigid movements, ears swiveling towards the entrance to the room. There was a noise just then, a pattering near the door. The sound of footsteps…? But Tomoe was the only one in the room; it was the first thing he checked when he had awoken in this strange place. Not a whiff of human or demon was in the vicinity, and his nose never failed him…so then, what was it? If his nose never failed him then it had to be his ears, but the fox was too prideful to blame his ears for missing something.

Maybe it was his body recuperating. He was supposed to be dead soon, after all.

Before being whisked away to this place…wherever ‘this place’ was, he was confined to nothing but a small mirror waiting to die. He had been waiting to die; it sounded ridiculous out loud, to think that a demon as rowdy as him would ever wait for his death quietly, but it was all he could do. Hundreds of years ago he was cursed by a fallen god to have his soul snatched out his body, and resigned, he waited for death. But he was saved then by Mikage; the then-earth god saved his life by making him forget, and he remembered—he remembered something he wasn’t supposed to, and now…now he would die because of it.

“I’m going to die,” he says blankly, voice devoid of emotion. His eyes sparked though- was he really going to die? He was here, no longer at Mikage shrine…and this was not the inside of the mirror. Some higher being took it upon themselves to bring him here and remove the black markings of the curse from his body. He cracks a wan smile, ears drooping.

To think that somebody was more powerful than the almighty gods that inhabited the earth was insane, funny even. But certainly Tomoe could believe it. He was a demon, and he was a servant of god. He even fell in love with a human—twice at that, and both times his love for them was nearly his bane. If that could happen then, frankly, anything could happen. So he would believe in these faceless forces, these strangers that saved his life.

He would believe in them, and he would find them. After all, it would be rather impolite not to thank his saviors.
