Applications

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Hubert Oswell | Tales of Graces | Reserved (3/3)

[personal profile] regimenting 2013-06-21 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
Abilities/Powers:
Physical combat is the name of Hubert’s game on the battlefield, his abilities (artes) are plentiful. Many of his artes revolve around basic strike techniques with his dualblades, though his weapon is incredibly non-standard. It’s also capable of being split into dual-pistols, as well as something of a bow in certain cases.

Though he’s able to switch with relative ease, switching between blades and pistols does leave his defenses down. Still, he’s very versatile, with a wide range of artes that can easily combat most of his enemies from both close and long ranges. In addition to this, he also does have two healing spells -- Healing Wind (a single target regenerative spell), and Antidote (which cures status ailments). A full listing of his many artes can be found here, for reference.

Items/Weapons:
• Glasses (Nerdy Glasses)
• Dualblades (Seven Star)
• Armor (Seablue Vestments)

Sample Entry Two:

Trust was absolutely not an option. Nothing even resembling the thought crossed Hubert’s mind as he eyed his newfound surroundings. At last he recalled, he’d been preparing for a trip; taking care of his last minute errands in Yu Liberte before heading to Windor’s capital to meet with the king. So of course, when within the blink of an eye, the familiar desert oasis was replaced shades of gray and the ominous feeling of death that permeated the air; he was nothing short of suspicious.

His brows furrowed, and as he pushed his glasses up on the bridge if his nose, Hubert’s eyes narrowed. He was cautious in taking in his surroundings, expression sharp and the grip on his dualblades tight in his free hand. Not since the first time he’d stepped foot in Velanik had he seen a town so rundown. The buildings were dilapidated, and the feeling of desolation that surrounded him almost seemed to be unmatched when compared to the many other places he’d been. Unlike Velanik, wherever he was now lacked... something. Personality. Life. In that regard, he was reminded of the places he had seen on Fodra, but somehow... it lacked that much desolation. It felt like a strange middle-ground, though a far more eerie one. There wasn’t a biting chill in the air, but despite that, it still felt cold.

It was hard not to heave a sigh as he tried to make sense of the situation. Many others were likely to panic in the face of something so utterly bizarre... but not Hubert. He was an Oswell, and a high ranking military officer, which meant that even in the direst of situations, he had to keep his composure.

“I suppose the question is... just where do I start?” He mused, quietly. There were a lot of questions to ask: Where was he? How did he get here? It certainly wasn’t any place on Ephinea that he was aware of, and nothing of the landscape on Fodra resembled what he was seeing. It also left the question of why he was here. His first order of business would be to figure out the very basics -- which meant trying to find someone. Whether it was someone familiar (unlikely), or a stranger (more likely, though he wasn’t sure by quite how much), it would be a start to answering his questions, and maybe getting back to where he’d been previously. After all, he did have important business to take care of in Barona.

‘I’ll get nowhere by staying where I am, though it begs the question of which direction would be optimal.’ The thoughts passed through his head as he stroked his chin in thought. It wasn’t until he saw something -- a silhouette in his field of vision, albeit quickly, that he knew exactly where to start.

Grip tight on his weapon and defenses up as high as possible, he set out. He’d never find answers if he didn’t start where the clues were, after all.
