Applications

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Sample Entry:
[ The first thing you see when the feed opens is ... a pair of incisors, crunching down on you??? Somebody just attempted to take a bite out of their phone, and it appears they have the jaw power to leave a crack in the screen. This must not be an ordinary guy.

There's the sound of gagging that follows, and finally, the phone is released, and you see a few seconds of the sky, then of its owner's face. It's a young man - looking to be in his late teens - with a scar under his eye and another spanning his entire chest. He looks a little miffed. ]

What the hell? It tastes so bad! I was hungry, so I was really hoping this would be some new kind of candy!

[ Displeased, like his phone owes him something for offending his taste-buds, he tosses it to the side, where it'll lie forgotten for the rest of the feed. Now, he starts to think out loud, still completely unaware that he is being recorded. (Phones from his own world don't quite look like they do here, okay. ) ]

There's something weird about this place. I asked that old guy about my crew, but all he does is say the same thing over and over.

[ That alone should be an indication of where he is - where he's somehow managed to wander to, on his very first day. Luffy - attracted by the promise of a more bustling environment than what he saw when he first arrived - has found his way to the Haven underground section, and can't seem to find his way out. The whole scene around him, the people who were barely there, and the one man who only seemed to exist as an echo, should have been a concern. It might even invoke a sense of eeriness, to most people, but Luffy is something very different. His assessment of the situation is just ... unique.

As that one man starts the next loop of his heated prattle, Luffy tries to reach out once again - ]

Oi, I said I wanna know if you've seen my -- [ only to be ignored. ]

What's wrong with him? [ . . . ] He must just be an idiot.

Sample Entry Two:
Perhaps he had accidentally taken a shortcut to Dressrosa, without even knowing?

As illogical a notion that was, Luffy still considered it. The last thing he remembered was sitting perched on the proud lion-head of the Thousand Sunny - his special seat - and taking in the fresh sea breeze around him. They were on their way to Dressrosa, as per 'Traffy's' instructions, and setting into motion the next step in their elaborate plan to take down one of the Four Emperors. He was honestly not clear on the details at all, but he trusted Traffy, and it sounded like the fun thing to do; that was reason enough for him.

Now, this -- this barren, desolate land -- was not what he had imagined Dressrosa to be like, at all. (To most people, they would simply conclude that it isn't. Luffy isn't most people. )

"I know! Maybe I was sucked in by a mystery whirlpool?" He contemplates out loud, even if there is no one to listen to him. To him, there is no other explanation. He had been on sea before, so perhaps a magical whirlpool had consumed him and his ship, so kindly depositing him where he had wanted to go. A shortcut, basically. Never mind that there was no body of water to be found in this place, and the general lack of feasibility of such a thing - that is why it is a mystery.

"But I really didn't think this place would be so empty," Luffy huffs, continuing his trend of voicing out every thought that occurs to him. True enough, despite the fact that Dressrosa was technically enemy territory, Luffy had been very excited to see it. He didn't know much, but the promise of adventuring in a foreign land, trying its food and getting a taste of the potential dangers promised to him, is something he can never turn down. To go out and see nothing but a block of abandoned houses was ... quite honestly a disappointment. "Isn't this the country 'Mingo rules? Then it should have colourful birds! I wanna see birds!"

Moving across the dull, dusty streets, with a stick he picked up in his hand (a special 'explorer's stick', naturally), Luffy gives a frown, rubbing his chin now. He has no clue where he is, or where he is going, and it honestly has not occurred to him that it might be a good idea to figure out. Right now, his main goal is to find Traffy, his crew and his ship (stumbling across something to eat never hurt, as well). Rubbing his chin a little harder, he attempts to concentrate. It isn't the first time he's wound up alone with little guidance like this, but that doesn't mean he's gotten any better at making his way around. These type of things - the planning, the navigating, the activities that actually require more than two-joules of brain power - were usually left to his crew. Luffy, on the other hand, would usually just do whatever his instinct told him to.

Separated from them like this, it looks like he cannot slack off in that aspect. Just how is he supposed to find them, left without a clue like this? The thinking was honestly starting to exhaust him, and he can feel an ache build up from within his skull.

"Some of us were going to destroy the factory, so -- "

There's a pause, and he feels like he's getting warmer.

"If I just find the factory, they'll all be there!"

There was the pressing matter that he did not even know what this factory looked like, and the other pressing matter that it most definitely did not exist in Haven, but those are things that simply do not occur to him. A satisfied grin on his face, and a spring to his step, Luffy runs forward. Factories emit smoke, so all he had to do was find a building that did the same, right?
