Applications

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

twentystakes: (guess the competition is on now)

Willard H. Wright | Umineko No Naku Koro Ni | 3/3

Sample Entry: Here's a Dear Mun thread, if that will work.

Sample Entry Two: His eyes remained half open, staring at the bleak ceiling above him. Though he was content with simply laying there, as there was no other plans for the day, the pent up restless energy was beginning to get to him. It was as if he had quickly been able to catch up on all of his years of sleep deprived shifts in a manner of days, and now his own body was building a backlog of energy from his excessive resting. And he didn't like it.

A scowl crossed his face, eyebrows creasing as he continued to stare a hole into a single spot on the ceiling. He had figured he would be able to arrive at a conclusion by now, with the information he had gathered. How he got here, how he could escape from here, and most importantly...where was here? He refused to just take it's name and be content with that. The structure of the area resembled some forgotten city that has once been bustling, and even the billboards were remincent of older, early 20th century signs. But in all his travels around the world, all the locales he was informed of, Haven was no city he had ever once crossed, not even on a map. With a bitter tone, he sighed. He wasn't going anywhere fast.

Might as well stay in another five minutes.

REVISIONS

While Willard is both extremely kind and patient when it comes to the investigations he undertakes, both on and off the job, he was not always that way. He carries with him a long history of executions and trial where his relentless search for the truth of the matter resulted in little to no regard or mercy for those involved with the crime. Back then, all that mattered to him was solving the crime and punishing the villain behind it, and because Willard always arrived at satisfying, correct conclusions and verdicts, he did little to change his ways. It was these days as the Head Inquisitor that gave him the cold and ruthless reputation he's famous for.

But when his ruthless and cold ways lead him to a wrong conclusion, ending in the execution of an innocent person (a mistake he realized only when it was too late), the shock caused Willard to look back at his methods, and realize how flawed they were. He had only ever cared for the truth, and never for the hearts of those involved in the incidents. He never considered their thoughts, their feelings, their emotional ties to the crimes that together with the facts and figures, created a key to the truth of the incident. They were people, not simple pieces of a puzzle. Because of this, he grew kinder and more lenient in his work, trying harder to understand the emotions and hearts of those involved in the cases in order to bring justice and peace back into their lives.

With this new found understanding of the heart, however, he also began to grow tired of the fear, the despair, and the heartbreak that surrounded these crimes. He knew there was more to the hearts and lives of people than sadness and murder, and believing in the potential for happiness, Willard felt that he had had enough of the life of the Head Inquisitor of the SSVD. It was a position he had held almost his entire life, since he himself had practically created the organization, and to the shock of many of the other angels, he stepped down from it.

But even before his change of heart, he had always been very particular about his cases, and for reasons that cannot be explained. He simply gained and lost interest in them easily, most likely from an intellectual view of things. If a case was obvious and easy to solve, he would put less energy behind it than a more difficult and complicated case. Prior to his resignation, in addition to this, he began to seek out cases that were deeper and allowed him to understand the heart of the manner, as opposed to more shallow cases of brutality. All of this caused his record to be all over the place in terms of what the cases involved, with no real noticeable similarities between them.

(Extra note: He continues to help and intervene with many of the investigations even after stepping down, because he is still unsatisfied with their methods and wishes for them to have a better understanding of the human heart)
