Applications

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Character Name: Anna (Milton)
Canon: Supernatural
Canon Point: Season 4, Episode 20, “The Rapture”, after she leaves Dean and Sam in the Impala on their own.
Background/History: at supernatural wiki [dot] com ;; at supernatural [dot] wikia
Personality:
Pre-Truth/Human Existence – Anna, on the surface, is a very wholesome and sweet person. She was raised by a church deacon, in a very religious family. She possesses innocence, having an almost naïve air about her when she's first introduced, before she remembers her past as an angel. She's frightened by the notion that demons are after her, and she doesn't entirely understand why she can overhear angels. She seems to have led a very happy and quiet, albeit sheltered, life in her human form. Some might even describe her as wide-eyed when she's first presented.

Before she remembers who she is, she seems to be very easily frightened. She can see and hear things that other people can't, and until Sam and Dean Winchester came onto the scene, she'd been dismissed as schizophrenic because of it. Seeing the two brothers fills her with hope, and being told that she isn't crazy brings her more hope still. She trusts them instantaneously, though she seems to be a bit tentative about Sam, simply because the angels she's been overhearing don't like him very much. Being able to hear angels speaking in whispers is something she very much believes in, instead of dismissing it as some form of insanity. Her religiousness gives her much more reason to invest herself into believing what she hears to be true. When she has confirmation of that, she's vastly grateful, and it shows.

The unfortunate thing about her innocence is that she's easily frightened. She's a liability, during the time that this is still occurring. She doesn't remember anything about her past at that point; it's been blocked out, shoved to the back of her mind, and buried deeper than anyone can remember. She remembers things in blips; things she shouldn't even know – such as an angelic banishing symbol. She seems to be very smart, despite her innocence. However, it isn't until Pamela Barnes is called in, a psychic friend to the Winchesters, that Anna finally comes into who she was meant to be, and who she's always been.

Post-Truth – Her personality takes a huge turn once she remembers that she is an angel. With her full past in her mind, and knowing everything about herself anew, she changes drastically. She still retains quite a bit of who she was as a human, but it's much more subtle and largely overshadowed by a renewed sense of power and purpose.

Innocence – Or a complete lack thereof. That innocent, wholesome exterior that she had when she was human almost completely disappears. She's sort of… the anti-innocent. She's a fallen angel; she disobeyed. That's the murder one of angels, and it shows how much she's willing to give up for her own beliefs. It also shows her willingness to deviate from what would be considered appropriate or "okay". She's indulgent into things that angels are condemned for even considering, emotions and decadence being the worst. At one point, she explains that these aspects of humanity – that all aspects of humanity – were what she fell for. She fell by making choices and taking things into her own hands. She chose to leave holiness and purity.

Compassion – Anna has a great deal of empathy for human beings. She also knows what it's like to suffer through doubt and confusion, and being expected to take everything on faith. She gets that there are emotions ranging from manic happiness to the complete and utter rock-bottom of depression, and she understands them all. She can relate better to humans than most angels because of the fact that she chose to fall, that she has her doubts… And she wants to see humanity happy. She gave up her rank, her title, and her place in Heaven just to experience a life of freedom as humans do. She feels that she should help them, especially those that she comes in contact with. The Winchesters are a prime example. Once she discovers the truth about herself, she's determined to help them – to the point of fighting to get her Grace back, as a matter of fact. She takes risks to assist and protect them. Even as she faces her own persecution (and likely, death), she assures Dean that she understands, and that she forgives him.

Determination – What she believes is worth fighting for is not something she will easily give up. Be that free will, her own personal well being, or the well being of friends, Anna is not a weak person. She is headstrong, and she stands up for what she believes is right. She even goes so far as attempting to bring Castiel, her former subordinate, into joining her. She believes that he has strength, and that together, they would be able to handle things and help to change the world for the better. Her interests aren’t only in her own protection, but also in that of humanity. She does have the interest of keeping the world safe at the forefront of her mind.

Independence/Strength – (also ties into determination) – This pushes the lines of rebellion. Anna used to be a loyal little soldier, but once she began to doubt? That all changed. She was high ranking, but there were still those above her. She rejected her orders, she chose to fall. Even in the face of death, even when she's between a rock and a hard place, she stands strong. She isn't afraid anymore. She's ready to do what she has to, in order to keep consistent with her own personal feelings and values. If that means self-sacrifice, so be it. If that means that she alone would have to stand against both the armies of heaven and hell, regardless of how that might end, so be it. She refuses to be told what to do, pushed around, or used as a pawn any longer.

Hopefulness – Despite the fact that she's been through so much, from being a loyal puppet to the garrison to falling to just living as a human, she still has a great deal of hope within her. She knows that the world can change for the better. She has faith in humanity. In spite of everything she's been through, she's still very optimistic about the way the world works currently, and how it can work if it's further improved upon. Even with the number of trials and tribulations she's experienced, with all of the loss that came with her choices and her own doubt, she is still filled with hope and faith that all things can be improved upon; she believes that free will and peace can be preserved, if only those key players would work together.

Abilities/Powers:
Anna possesses all of the abilities that any Angel would possess. This includes – Telekinesis, seeing the true faces of demons, precognition, sensing other angels, hearing the true voices of angels, knowledge of magic both human and Enochian, enhanced strength, extreme endurance, telepathy, teleportation (which is actually considered flight, as they use their wings and a fluttering of feathers is heard upon their entrances and exits), time travel (though this is incredibly difficult and taxing despite being endowed with divinity), exorcism, and angelic possession.

I would like to note that if any of these powers are too extreme or if at any point this gets to be an issue (I make a very conscious effort not to godmod with her abilities but she's a walking talking godmod by description and design, and I can understand how that might make people uncomfortable even if it never comes into play fully) that I would be more than happy to reduce her powers.

for reference, this is what the supernatural wikia has listed for her powers

additional physical strengths
In addition to angelic abilities, because of the fact that she has thousands of years of memories behind her of wars, protecting the world, watching it go by, being an obedient soldier, and all of the things that come with being an angel, she's a very good fighter. She's also mobile! She's thin and can bend well so she's good at… hiding…? I think that about covers it.

supplement – emotional/mental strengths: A great deal of this was covered in her personality section, but in addition… She's also very knowledgeable about what's going on around her. She's a quick learner, picking up on things fast, and very insightful. She's empathetic in that she can also pick up on people's attitudes and emotions. She can tell when a situation is uncomfortable and it's not hard for her to see through people's lying just because of her general intuition.

Weaknesses: (supplemental section)
physical weaknesses; Because she's an angel, she can be physically harmed by holy fire and killed by the sword of another angel. Other than that, she's relatively immune to… everything else. (At a later canon point than chosen, she's seen being stabbed directly through the chest with a crowbar and pulling it out like it's nothing.) A circle of holy oil set aflame will trap her, and Enochian banishing sigils will work against her. She's not really pervious to much else when at full power/grace.

emotional/mental weaknesses; Anna's biggest weakness is, perhaps, the fact that she is emotionally attached to humanity. It's partially a strength, but a large part of her is so loving of them that she takes risks for them that she wouldn't normally take. She risks herself hugely while she's on the run from Heaven and in hiding, to come out of said hiding for the sake of finding and helping Dean (and Sam, but really… her attachment is to Dean.) She even exposes herself to Castiel to help Dean. Her attachment to him particularly is important, but she has a soft spot for humanity in general. She also seems to be a little more forgiving than most people deserve; then again, that applies… only to Dean based on what is seen in canon. I imagine that she's similarly forgiving of other human faults even if she isn't of the faults of other angels.

She also has a huge propensity to put herself out there in a risky fashion to get someone else to see her point of view. In a later canon point than what I've chosen for her, it's actually exposing herself to try and express to Castiel how wrong what he's done is, and how detrimental the outcome of what he's done will be to the world, that gets her captured by Heaven. She's trying to get him to see that following Heaven's orders isn't always in the entire world's best interest, and she's been trying to get him to see things her way since she got her grace back. She's very insistent that humanity is the most important thing to protect. Outside and above the orders of Heaven, protecting the humans she's loved and been in awe of for years is important to her and she feels that others should understand and embrace this as well.

Items/Weapons: All she'll have are the clothes on her back.

Sample Entry: boom haventest feels galore

Sample Entry Two:
There wasn't much difference now, from when she'd first begun to doubt Heaven and its intentions. All she'd regained was her memory – truth about a past that she'd left behind by choice. She wasn't sure whether or not it was a good thing yet. On one hand, she now possessed the knowledge and power to attempt gaining allies who would listen to her side of things regarding the current hierarchy. On the other, she sacrificed the illusion of a normal, human life – one that was given to her by rebirth, and afforded her a carefree set of liberties that she'd never had as an angel loyal to Heaven. She'd fallen by choice. She wanted the freedom that she'd seen the human race partaking in for the two millennia she'd been stationed on Earth.

Those who she'd considered friends were now out of her reach, and Castiel refused each extension of her hand. It hurt her, and it was disheartening. He refused to believe that perhaps God wasn't the one calling the shots anymore, when she'd suggested it. He refused her help. What Anna failed to understand, however, was that she had still gone back. She smote Uriel where he stood, to save Castiel's life. Her loyalties remained solid, despite being turned down time and time again. But was it all really worth it? Was attempting to save him, and the Winchesters, worth the constant chase? Heaven wanted her, Hell wanted her… She could protect herself from one, but she could only run from the others. Hide. She appeared only when she felt it necessary.

But what was the point? If they had intention to kill her, they would've sent someone to do so already. She feared for what plans they might have in mind. There were only so many possibilities, and none of them were pleasant. Anna's eyes lifted upward, and she scanned the skies. She wondered if her Father was truly as angry with her as her subconscious had led her to believe as a young human child. She remembered the initial fear when she'd first been born as a human. It was clearer now that she had the full scope of her lives – now at a technical count of three – firmly planted in her mind like little films. A part of her longed for the simplicity and ignorance that came with just being a normal, clueless girl; a sweet girl, raised by a church deacon and a housewife.

She'd been blindly religious and faithful as a human. She looked up to angels as beacons of light in darker times in her life; she looked to God for guidance. It wasn't until she began hearing the whispers from Heaven again that she started to change. So many things could go differently, now that she knew everything. She wanted to help. She needed to help, but in order to do so, she had to gain the loyalty of those she once had allegiance from. Namely, Castiel. She could see the doubt in his eyes when they spoke. She knew he wasn't far from disobedience. It would shatter him, however, to turn his back on Heaven. She believed that he was most loyal to God out of all of the angels, simply because he refused to give up. But he wouldn’t Fall by choice, nor would he Fall easily. It would destroy him. She would just have to find a way to gain his loyalty and the kinship of the Winchesters some other way. There were things afoot - terrible things on the horizon that could be stopped if only someone with more say and power than a fallen angel stepped forward and spoke out.

And now the culmination of all things began to stir and bubble violently in the belly of the world, just waiting to erupt. Turbulence was an inevitability. Heaven was after her, Hell was after everyone else, and there wasn’t any way for her to hold up her hand and stop it. Even with her grace back, even with the strength which did remain, she hadn’t been completely restored to the power of her former rank. She couldn’t stop it all on her own. She needed help.

Anna stood from her place, eyes surveying the area around her. She had work to do – too much to wait any longer, wasting time on reminiscence and pointless nostalgia. The Apocalypse was pretty much nigh, and the Winchesters were at the center of it all. Something was wrong with Sam, and Dean… Anna wanted to make sure he was protected. But they were both her friends, regardless of the darkness in which Sam was choosing to indulge. And for her friends, and for the world. And Cas… Castiel was someone they needed. He was someone they really needed, in fact, and she would get through to him, no matter what she had to do in order to get her point across. He was already beginning to doubt. He needed to understand that earth and humanity were more important than his orders. With newfound goal in mind, and in a surge of determination and a resolved, strong sense of self, Anna disappeared.
