We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Character Name: Uni
Canon: Katekyou Hitman Reborn!
Canon Point: Around Chapter 254 I believe, just after she's woken up, but before she goes to seek the help of the Vongola family!
Background/History: here!
Personality: Uni, at first glance, seems all puff and fairy floss. She's a tiny little girl with a gentle smile and not much substance to her, after all; it's easy to underestimate those sorts.

However, her lack of physical strength is more than made up in mental and emotional mettle. Her entire life has been centred around the personal ideology of self-sacrifice for others' happiness, and she will do everything in her power to make things right, and to help those she cares about. The idea of hurting others horrifies her, but will be taken as an absolute last resort (and even then, it's indirect sacrifice for the greater good).

Given that her age and build are huge hindrances to being a successful mafioso, Uni relies heavily on people's better natures, as well as her charm. Her smile has been noted to be her greatest feature, winning over allies and ensuring that she's never really alone. Her kindness cannot be discounted, however; when given the chance to save herself from a fatal curse (later in canon), she readily concedes the chance for the sake of her allies. It's this that keeps people on her side and draws them in, disarming most (but certainly not all) enough with relative ease.
Her love and care for others comes from her mother Aria, certainly; the woman led a double life in raising her daughter, but they definitely had an affectionate relationship and are even said to have the same sort of presence.

For all of her charms and innocence, Uni is certainly not above making enemies. Her powers alone make her an easy target for less honorable elements, and her lifestyle as a mafia boss ensures that there are no small number of people willing to throw her down from her throne. Although she might be considered to have a cheat in her interactions with people, that doesn't ensure that everything will go to plan, naturally.
Her age plays a part in this too; she's innately curious, trying her best to see the best in and get to know people who might not always appreciate being read like a picture book. This, combined with her desire to keep her loved ones out of danger by keeping her finger on the pulse can lead to awkward situations and even a little prying, if she's sure that there's not too much danger involved.

The worst part about her absolute desire to keep people happy is that she will often prioritise this over her own happiness most of the time. Her own life and famiglia have been used as bargaining chips, though with much difficulty on her part. In the case of her life, it's been sacrificed several times over to protect others in various alternate universes; due to her curse-shortened lifespan, it just isn't something that's worth as much as it should be.
This was accepted long ago, when she first found out about her powers and the curse they held. While the thought of dying still scares the daylights out of her and isn't something she'll do lightly, it's still something she'll grimly accept when necessary.

Despite her sugary sweet nature, Uni has some spice to her; she's given towards gentle teasing to those she cares about (and who don't put her on a pedestal and oblige her into polite words), and flat out disdain of those seemingly beyond her reach. This can be seen when she calls a boy 'more ordinary than I expected' upon their first meeting, despite being well aware that he'd later harm her and cause much agony in the future. It does take a while for her to get over this however, and to realise that hey, it's alright to actually be a kid and to joke around.

All in all, Uni’s basically a kind, sad little girl who would do anything to save the world and those she loves.

Abilities/Powers: Uni's primary ability is to read hearts and minds of those around her; this has expanded into enabling her to see the future. It can be assumed (since we never explicitly see it in canon, just her after having had visions) that her foretelling the future is never consciously done, since they're certainly not things she wants to see. In fact, most of Uni's premonitions seem to be negative in some form. However, her reading hearts and minds is probably more of an ability that she can summon by will; in canon, it's mentioned that at least one person can sense her doing this, though that would probably count as a special case.

She also has the ability to share consciousness with alternate selves, almost enabling her to hop worlds through other Unis in existence (though many of them were wiped out, so this ability has been severely limited in that aspect), and to sense anyone wishing harm to her (only when very close, it seems) by feeling very ill at the time.

Not only that, but using any of her powers (bar sharing consciousness) saps at her lifespan. Visions are assumed to be the most taxing, with heart and mind reading seeming to have happened for long enough that its toll can be assumed to be only slight.

All of her powers can be attributed to both her heritage (a long line of shamanesses doomed to die early) and to the bauble around her neck, a glowing orange pacifier on a pink ribbon. Although her bloodline certainly helped the powers along, without the pacifier she'd certainly be helpless.

Sample Entry Two:It's well into her first stretch that Uni realises she's not actually in the Millefiore base.

Not anywhere she recognises at all, actually. Her heart leaps into her chest as she looks about the room, hastily pulling her cloak tighter 'round her shoulders. Each little cast out into the aether comes back with no reply; there's no thought, no heartbeats, nothing that she can read.

Looks like she's back to basics, or at least until she can pick up on a heartbeat. There's always the slightest possibility that there's someone resistant to her powers, after all (the thought makes her stomach churn).

"Hello?"

Uni scrambles to her feet, shaking the dust from her pristine white and black clothing. "Is anyone out there? ...Gamma? Nosaru? Te--"

There's a clatter that sends her a few centimetres into the air with a muffled shriek. It's laughed off nervously, quietly as she inspects the room she's currently in. Fingers roaming over light switches (thankfully functional), pillows, the hinges of the doors; it all seems normal, but she's too wary and worn out now to not be at least a little suspicious.

"Well, if you won't come out, I'm just going to find someone. There has to be someone who knows where we are so I can get home," she mutters, rubbing one eye and adjusting to being awake, being alive again. "Too much to do."
