APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October
IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE
We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.
In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.
You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.
Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.
If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.
Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.
Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.
We now have a test drive community athaventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Re: Glenn Rhee| The Walking Dead (Tv series)|Reserved
With Glenn, he’s the latter; he holds onto basic human decency. In the first episode, we hear it in his voice; though it seems to be taunting, he is reaching out, giving someone who has no idea that there is still people left alive in Atlanta a piece of hope. This sets the foundation for Glenn throughout the series, being the character balanced between compassion and realism.
Glenn, when given the choice, will be the first person who places himself in a dangerous situation for the welfare of the group. Most of the time he plans out his escape in advance, to ensure he makes it out alive; sometimes he'll plunge in without thinking, like driving a car with the alarm going off to lure zombies (also known as Walkers) away from the group. That’s not to say he’s not selfish in his own right— Glenn isn’t suicidal and has no desire to die. He does, however, understand that he’s the one with the best chance of survival given his skills. Glenn is not smug or arrogant about it; for him in a world where most have died due to the Walkers, it’s a hard fact that he’s survived encountering them more than the average, which makes him the one with the experience necessary to survive one more encounter. More often than not, he would express dismay at what he has to do in order to save the group; he’ll pace and grab at his hat, worried about the consequences of getting involved and not getting involved. However, that anxiety would not stop Glenn from risking himself in order to save others. This could be due to the hope that someone else would do the same for him one day, or that someone may yet one day save them all... but he’s smart enough to admit it’s probably not going to happen.
Despite Glenn and the other survivors of the group being constantly placed under stress and dangerous situations, he has yet to lose his sense of humor and enjoyment. Tense situations or not, he'll make wisecracks, light hearted insults, and jokes when he feels it's appropriate. He takes joy in the little things in life, whether it is driving a fast car or over drinking when he hasn't seen alcohol in months. Though he is aware of the dangers he faces on a daily basis, he takes what he can get from life, even if it's joking about how a fall would kill him and Rick, instead of the Walkers. Glenn is, as he puts it, "a glass half full kind of guy" ( Episode Two "Guts").
Glenn is by no means perfect, even with his altruism or undefeatable attitude. He doesn’t always speak up when he should, or when he can make a difference in an argument, and he’s not the best at making quick decisions. Glenn is known to either have two handles when he's panicking or unsure about something: he thinks logically about what’s practical for the short term, or goes into a flight or freeze mode without thinking ahead. When he doesn't think he can do anything to make things better, he hovers in the background, tending to be passive and waiting for others to act. In a group of people, Glenn is a follower and doesn’t seem to have the bravery to take up the mantle of leader.
There can be many things that can be said for Glenn, but the most important information to remember is he is an average young man in a horrible global situation. Considering what he has gone through to survive, he still possesses emotion and empathy. He has yet to cross the line, unlike many other people in his world, in killing a human being.
Re: Glenn Rhee| The Walking Dead (Tv series)|Reserved
Though it is alluded to and not confirmed in the first season, Glenn, along with everyone in his canon, is a carrier of his world’s zombie virus. It may not be a power or ability, but it’s something to be noted. While alive, this has no effects; the virus stays dormant or inactive within the body. But when he dies, Glenn will turn into a Walker. What this means is that his body will reanimate
without higher brain function, and will not stop until there is enough damage done to the brain to severe its signals to the decaying body.
As a Walker, his bite is dangerous. Bites transfer some kind of bacterial infection that spreads through the victim, causing sweating, fever, and eventually death. It is unknown if those bites spread the virus, since everyone in canon is already infected.
Sample Entry: Hey, guys?
[He doesn't sound happy. He's talking quickly, panicked even, for all that he's trying to keep his voice light]
I don't remember staying in any apartment, and I don't remember leaving the RV. Anyone else know what's going on?
[He takes a moment to glance out the window.]
Okay, I get this is supposed to be called Haven. Nice joke; I like the gas masks especially. I mean, you never know when you might need gas masks in a safe place.
But really, what's going on, and how come we have electricity?
Sample Entry Two: He could feel the fluttering in his stomach again. Nerves of course; it was always nerves. But he didn't think anything of it; he merely peered out to view what was outside. It looked like a sea of geeks; walkers, zombies, the undead, whatever people wanted to call them. They were outside of the door he had been planning to use for escape.
For a moment, he had to close his eyes, thinking. His stomach cramped. He was tempted to throw up out of pure nerves; then he steadied. There was a way; there was always a way to get out.
Glenn took one last glance to the door, ensuring that it was locked, he left it behind, the map of the building coming up in his mind. There were some other exits; he just had to find it. He adjusted his backpack, and headed the opposite direction, going upstairs.
He kept moving, up, up to the roof. Nothing here, and nothing to worry about. He nodded to himself, and started off to the other side of the roof, checking to see if there was anyone, anything on the other side. Nothing; Glenn could move freely. With a silent sigh of relief, he moved towards the next building, knowing there was a ladder on the other side. Perfect start to an escape, with more supplies. Maybe he could enjoy something better than squirrels and mushrooms breakfast as a reward.
