Applications

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Heather Mason | Silent Hill | Reserved

[personal profile] nomercyforshe 2012-09-22 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Sample Entry:

[ Heather glances at her phone whilst sitting outside in the snow. It's cold, she's so not dressed for the cold, and nothing makes sense. She doesn't even know where she is. Or what to do with this phone. ]

Someone better know what's going on. Maybe...

Has anyone seen an old guy, his name is Douglas, and he looks like one of those comic book detectives? If you have tell him that this isn't funny. I don't like suddenly being left alone in a weird town without a reason. Silent Hill was different, okay- I had a reason for that. I mean, there was a reason. But this isn't funny.

Sample Entry Two:

Without a doubt, Heather knew she was alone now. And it’s not that she didn't mind, it’s just the fact that she was afraid. She was afraid to be alone because her father had always been there for her. He had always known what to do. Harry had been the only one she could turn to when it was dark outside and the tree was scraping against her window like some monster outside waiting to snatch her up and take her away. He had always said he would protect her. He had promised that he would never leave her alone.

He didn’t mean to lie.

Tears streamed down her cheeks as she collapsed. It was all over. He was gone. God was dead and no one cared. None of it really mattered; anyone could see this if they had lived through what she had. The monsters, the people. God, she'd fired her first gun at a creature she didn't believe could be real. She had sworn to kill a person. Sworn to kill someone who had gotten her father killed. Heather couldn't believe any of it. She didn't want to believe any of it. Sure, she had a taste for the bizarre, for reading ghost stories, but that was because none of it was real. None of it was supposed to be real. Hell, what she had been through shouldn't have been possible and she knew it. She damn well knew it. But... oh god, it really was. Her eyes swung back to look at the monstrosity that was God. The face that had mimicked Alessa's. The grotesque body that was flesh and bone and just wrong. It was all the proof she needed. It was all the proof that told her none of this had been just any nightmare.

Heather had to look away. She was going to be sick. She was tired, upset and she was going to be sick. And she was alone. Utterly alone in this hideous darkness with a rotting corpse. Her father wasn't going to appear to her, tell her everything was going to be okay. Douglas was waiting for her, but he wasn't Harry. He wasn't her father. She trembled as she tried to keep the sobs at bay. “Dad… dad…”

All she wanted in the world was her father. To just see him again. Smile at him. Hold his hand and hug him, tell him over and over again that she loved him. But that was never going to happen. Never again. It was too late and it was killing Heather inside. None of this should have happened. And somehow it was Heather's fault. She wasn't going to shy away from the thought. If she'd been there earlier than she could have saved him? Maybe. But it was no use. You can't change the past. You can only live in the present. Heather knew that. She knew it and she hated it all the same.

“Dad…”

She had to get up, she had to leave. She couldn't stay here anymore and wallow in her sorrows, in her pain. There was nothing left for her here. She had to adapt and move on even if everything hurt so damn much. She might be numb to most of the monstrosities she had seen, but what she had come to experience was going to haunt her for years to come. She had to move on and live for him, for her father. She had to... she had to live with all of this. Every bit of truth that no other would believe unless they had witnessed it all first hand.

Heather dug her hands into the rusty floor, pushing herself up onto quivering legs. She looked into the darkness ahead of her. Swallowing her pain, her sorrow, she had to move on.
