Applications

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

“Is it really so bad, Scott? That you can see better, hear more clearly, move faster than any human could ever hope. You’ve been given something that most people would kill for. The bite is a gift.”

A werewolf by birth, Derek is now the Alpha of his pack. His nature as such a creature grants him inhuman abilities and ( supposedly ) causes him to suffer from certain psychological effects such as aggression and borderline homicidal behavior, animalistic mannerisms like growling or snarling, and aversion to trust or authority figures. He also exhibits minor, unusual traits like causing a bright lense flare around the eyes when caught on film. The above are only minor in comparison to the more large scale and prominent things such as:
Born Werewolf Unlike the other werewolves in the series, Derek Hale was born into the existence he lives. Thankfully, this means he has a tight sense of control over his abilities. He knows and understands the weaknesses and strengths of a werewolf and has, in turn, managed to learn how to control most ( if not all aspects ) to the point that he acts as something of a strange mentor to many of the other werewolves not only in his pack but in the show as well. He knows the triggers of a transformation and likewise, the counters for it. As a werewolf, he also has the ability to turn others into a werewolf, as seen with the current members of his pack.
Alpha Teen Wolf werewolf lore dictates that as a member of a pack, a werewolf is inherently stronger than one without. This holds especially true for an Alpha - the leader and appropriately the strongest and unquestionably the most dangerous member of a pack. Unlike the members of their pack ( Betas ), they have red eyes and a terrifying ability to keep their pack in line whether through respect, physical prowess or even intimidation and fear. Derek is one such werewolf.
Wolf Form The werewolves of Teen Wolf have been seen in two wolf forms. When ‘transformed’ ( whether through outside influences such as the moon, internal ones such as their own emotions, or their own will ), they take on a more humanoid form - sharp canines, brightly colored eyes, fur, more animalistic facial construction and claws that serve to complement the augmentations granted to them as a werewolf. With the right amount of control, Derek has shown that you can call on specific elements of the wolf form without all the others - such as using his claws in an otherwise human form or growing out his teeth ( something he does as a show of intimidation to keep his pack mates in line or as a threat to those around him ). Though Derek’s has not been canonically shown yet, the Alphas of a pack are said to all have a full wolf form that can be utilized. He can also run on all fours, which is kind of hilarious.
Senses Derek lives with dangerously augmented senses. He can see farther and more clear, hear things more closely and sharply even when they’re far distances away and smell things with a frightening accuracy even with minimal exposure or pick up on things that people most would tell you would not have a scent. Additionally, he knows how to use them to his advantage such as being able to tell when someone is lying by listening to their heart rate. All of these senses can be used in combination with one another, helping his body ( and mind ) to remember and sense things he otherwise would not have been aware of before.
Strength Needless to say, a werewolf, whether in their human or ‘wolf’ form exhibit unparalleled strength. They’re able to easily break human bones, throw things such as a fully grown men far distances with ease and even break steel chain links.
Speed Werewolves are fast and Derek as the Alpha is especially so. They can move with a swiftness that matches allows them to cover long distances in a short amount of time - even able to catch up to and outmatch a car on foot or on a ‘slower’ form of transportation such as a bike. Derek, in particular, is shown to appear silently in one place and disappear in much the same way within the amount of time it takes someone to look away and then back.
Agility Combining their speed and strength, werewolves show an enhanced agility far superior to humans. They can jump far distances with ease, run and climb faster and farther than any human, and have shown such dangerously fast reflexes that they can even do things such as catch arrows shot at them.
Healing and Endurance When suffering from injuries - be they scratches, breaks, bruises or even things such as impalements, a werewolf’s body can repair itself in a short amount of time assuming there is no additional force at work they are weak against. Derek has an impact on this with others, however, and when he inflicts harm on a Beta or Omega ( a wolf without a pack ), he will cause their healing factor to weaken and their take a longer time to recover from the damage. In addition to a heightened healing factor, werewolves have shown the ability to endure things such as being hit by cars or being attacked multiple times with high amounts of electric volts with only limited amounts of pain.
Pain Werewolves in Teen Wolf have the ability to absorb and relieve others of their pain.
Creeping Like a good half of the other characters in the series, Derek has shown himself to be something of a creeper. He often appears for short snippets of time before vanishing without a trace - often in unwanted and sometimes awkward places ( such as parking garages or the boy’s locker room ).
Weaknesses Teen Wolf werewolves are shown to have weaknesses, but not many so far. The most common is any form of Wolfsbane. Wolfsbane can do things such as stall a werewolves healing factor, force a werewolf in to their wolf form or alternatively, cause them to be unable to control the shift from one form to the other. Wolfsbane is a common tool for werewolf hunters as it can be lethal to a werewolf. Another weakness is something called Mountain Ash - a type of wood that keeps a werewolf from crossing it. It hasn’t shown any other effects in canon yet.

He felt vulnerable - strangely violated - in the once familiar woods. The memory of a day when he was standing in this very spot, snapping about private property and throwing an inhaler at a young, inexperienced werewolf was still fresh in his mind, as if it had happened yesterday. But those days were gone, he knew, and with it the air of familiarity and comfort these woods had brought him. Now they were something entirely different, something he knew would never be the same after they trampled all over it.

The smell of sweat and steel in the distance only confirmed Derek’s thoughts and he found himself stuffing his hands deeper into his pockets in a moment of disapproval. He could hear everything as they moved - their low murmurs laced with observations, the crunch of dry leaves under their careful feet, and the way one of them was anxiously but slowly switching their selector switch from safe to semi. It was a bigger group than he was used to dealing with but he told himself it wouldn’t make a difference, not anymore. They had declared war already and this would be the first of many battles they’d face against one another - all of which, Derek had told the young werewolves sprinkled carefully behind him, nestled in their hiding spots, they would win.

He rolled his shoulders back slightly with the thought, lifting his head a bit higher as his eyebrows drew closer together thoughtfully. Every sound and smell was closer now and just barely, the pale eyes could see the flicker of lights through the trees in the distance - clear enough that the minimal light provided him a glimpse of what their arsenal held. Crossbows, shotguns, purple tipped ammunition he was more than acquainted with after his encounter with Kate Argent. The sight, the name, both brought a coil of anger to his muscles and stirred a low growl in his throat. He knew they wanted revenge for her and Victoria on top of whatever twisted motive hunters already had, but none of it mattered to Derek, to his pack - the closest thing to family he has left.

“Training is over,” he murmured quietly, letting out a slow breath. Behind him, he could hear the way his companions shifted just the slightest, made the smallest of noises to indicate they’d heard him as if he were speaking loudly and right beside them. “There’s no getting back up when they throw you to the ground,” he continued, voice still low and strangely calm despite how carefully he was fighting to keep his heart rate under control with the anger that was building the closer and closer the Argents became. “Hold nothing back,” his fingers curled with a sharp crack in his pocket at the thought, “use everything we have to your advantage.”

His eyes closed slowly with the thought and he felt himself reaching for his own arsenal - for the built up rage and disgust he’d stored away for this moment. He could feel the way his fingers flexed, ready for a fight, and had to tell himself to keep his eyes closed a moment longer; he needed these seconds, needed the reminder of everything he was about to fight for and why. His silence brought the presence of the four bodies behind him in to rich clarity - everything from the sound of Boyd’s back brushing the bark of the tree he was pressed against to the smallest brush of fabric as Isaac and Erica shifted around one another, preparing for the moment when they’d spring, attack as one. He could even hear Scott, the way he whispered someone’s name so quietly he would have missed it if he hadn’t been listening for it.

This was who he was fighting for, he reminded himself as his eyes slipped open, focusing effortlessly on the bodies that were drawing closer still. He had lost one family to these people and he told himself for what had to be the thousandth time that night that he wouldn’t let it happen to another. When they finally broke through the treeline, their flashlights casting wicked shadows across his unmoving body, he curled his fingers tightly one final time before relaxing them and slipping them out of his pockets.

“I gotta tell you, Chris,” he called in greeting to one of the hunter’s, “for a big bad veteran werewolf hunter, you’re mighty predictable.” He tipped his head carefully from one side to the other with a resounding pop before straightening his neck - the pale eyes brightening to a glowing crimson.
