We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Raaaaaaan....! ( The call echoes. Crickets could chirp. Yukari looks to the camera, groggily, annoyed, bored. ) Hm... That's enough of that. ( It seems she's too lazy to try calling again. ) I suppose if any of you have seen a shikigami with nine tails walking or flying or cursing around, direct her towards me.

Oh-- that reminds me. I should give you all a reward should you find her~. ( Chin hands upon a gap she creates for herself. ) Well, finding my Shikigami is a reward in of itself. Simply step on one of her tails and she will bless you for good luck for a generation. Step on another tail, and that's one more generation of yours that will be blessed! And so on and so-forth. I'd recommend that you give them a good tug, too... In fact, I believe there is no one who could resist petting her fur. ( There's a chuckle here. ) And trust me, she absolutely loves it.

( Anyone knowing the tale of the nine-tailed youkai fox can obviously tell that it's a tragic curse and not a blessing should one step on its tail. Curious how the woman seems to be so obvious about this little discrepancy. )

Sample Entry Two:
Sometimes it's nice having a reputation of being one of the stronger youkai of Gensokyo. The titled tends to clear paths of others, dispel lines for the open baths, and allow flower viewing in peace. Other times it makes other forms of nuisances appear, more often in the form of the prideful underdog types. So now with a young fairy challenging the old youkai, Yukari can't help the sly smile that tugs at the corner of her lips. The smile itself is enough to make the fairy suddenly tense, as if she expects foul play against the spell-card system.

...Which Yukari can certainly do, if she so wanted. But no, she would honor it. Even if the spell card system allows for fairer battles between gross differences in power levels, there are levels in the spell cards themselves, and there are other ways of having fun with this game. The parasol in Yukari's hand spins as she begins to hover off the dirt ground, forming a gap to sit on. No, her opponent today doesn't even deserve the acknowledgement of having Yukari standing during a duel. It's a silent insult to the the fairy, and she knows it. Rushed and afraid, Yukari's opponent begins her attack.

Ah, the poor thing-- Yukari can only muse that the fairy certainly doesn't know what she's gotten herself into now. Perhaps she should go easy on her, if only to insult her further...
