Applications Three

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
RESERVATIONS ARE OPENED!

NOTE: APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED OR PROCESSED FOR APRIL, DUE TO A CURRENT DISCUSSION ON THE GAME'S FUTURE.
RESERVATIONS WILL REMAIN OPEN FOR A LONGER PERIOD.
MAY APPLICATION CYCLE WILL BE POSTED HERE AS SOON AS IT IS DETERMINED.

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

To see what we are looking for:
Canon Characters:
Sample Application (Faith Lehane)
Sample Application (Iroh)

Original Characters:
Sample Application (Mors)
Sample Application (Vera de Barr)
Sample Application (Malkus Iverwelling)

jadewine: (So this is how I am)

When it comes to his interactions and behavior with the rest, Jae-Ha personally took up the role as a big brother of the group, here and there referring to himself as such- which sometimes takes a part in the banter between and Hak. Not that he necessarily treats the others like children (even if sometimes it really is the opposite). One of the ways he lends his help to everyone else is, of course, by using his ability to jump over very vast distances, which is incredibly useful, as it allows him and the rest to scope out any new area they pass through. This sometimes includes carrying any of the others on his back. Naturally, and on the flip side, he often teases the rest. When Zeno (Ouryuu/Yellow Dragon) enters the picture, and upon learning he is from the original group of the dragons (putting him as by far the oldest member of them all), Jae-Ha falls into a habit of poking fun at him, referring to him as an old man. In Shin-Ah's case, Jae-Ha has made a personal goal, and of utmost importance, that he bears witness to Seiryuu's eyes, as they are said to be most beautiful. Kija, a little similar to Hak, is another target for many of Jae-Ha's jokes, and in terms for Yona, whom he truly gets flustered over his feelings for her, which are incredibly pure. Not to mention at times he comes off as on the annoying side, which Jae-Ha at times will point out. Like the others, however, he is an important member of the group, and is someone Jae-Ha will fight alongside with.

All in all, Jae-Ha is more deeply rooted than one may consider him to be, however that's not to say that what he does most often display to the public is in any way not also a solid part of who he is. He's a flirt, and though sometimes he'll joke around, he's not blind to any sort of serious matters at hand. While considering himself, along with the other dragons, a monstrous existence, he's also ultimately accepting, along with confident in his own strengths, in spite of how he feels about the dragon legend. Strongly independent, the core part to who he is and how he behaves is his sense of freedom, born from his past of being chained up. He can be frequently tenacious and outspoken with his beliefs in those regards, though over the course of the series these feelings have shifted around here and there, to where he keeps more of an open mind when it comes to the others. A good number of facets make up Jae-Ha's personality as a whole, in the end, and while it may not seem as such, or be something he entirely lets on, he's more well rounded than one may believe.

Abilities/Powers: Dragon's Foot - As the Green Dragon, Jae-Ha holds his power within his right foot; (speculated to be) from about the base of his shin and lower, this part of his body is covered in green scales, with his toes ending in short claws. It allows him to jump to such an extent where it appears more so like he's able to fly. He can cover relatively far distances as well as heights, which aide him in scoping out an area from a bird's eye view. He also has absolute control in his actions. With this ability he's been shown to be capable of taking down more than just a couple opponents at once, as well as quickly move from one location to the next. His right foot also carries the strength that's around ten times that of a normal human, which takes his fighting skills to another level. With this strength, too, he's been shown to be able to completely break free from the metal cuffs upon his wrists and ankles which chained him to the floor.

A weakness in terms of his jumping skill are if he lands in the water, and if he's struck down at all, or if he hits a blind spot or caught off-guard. Being overly inebriated, or more so if drugged, can also cause problems.

Additionally, he possesses the ability to sense the presence of the other three dragons, especially so if they're relatively close. It's also been said that he can suppress his own presence, which he did for a while, in order to keep himself from being tracked down by the other dragons.

Other/natural strengths - Jae-Ha is very skilled in using throwing knives, with an especially accurate aim, which includes while he's up in the air. He never goes without having a lot of them concealed on his person. Also he's talented at fighting, with an expected focus on using the lower half of his body.

Items/Weapons: 6 throwing knives, his haegeum, spare set of clothes

Sample Entry: Test drive

Sample Entry Two: Never did Jae-Ha imagine he would find himself, again, in a situation that echoed what he had spent the first twelve years of his life in. Where there were four stone walls and two pairs of heavy manacles attached to the floor, here there was nothing for miles, yet all at once there were walls he now could not see. He didn't quite understand how such a barrier worked, but that didn't matter here nor there, in the end.

Haven was a cage all the same.

Sometimes it would bring back the dreams he originally had every so often, though especially while still new upon Gi-Gan's ship. How the sharp, rusty tang of the chains seemed to infuse what meager food he was given, or the grit and dust of the floor and cracks in the walls that got into his eyes. Sometimes he could swear that he could feel every last blow Garou had delivered to him, as if the bruises along his body were still fresh, and the blood from the wound on his temple was warm and slowly running down the side of his face. Jae-Ha still could hear being told that his existence shouldn't be, as no one out in the real world - or hell, even of his own village - would accept his monstrous presence for even a moment. Day after day the same old thing. Sometimes in words, others by way of physical actions, saturated in Garou's own bitterness and hatred, as he had been treated similarly. They were all the same nightmares that even now, thirteen years after the events, would creep back in.

So maybe it was to be expected that this damn world would only stir up his own sort of deeply rooted irritability. He was perfectly aware by this point in his life that not all shackles were tangible; in fact, there were far more invisible causes. Emotions, religion, laws, society, fate; they all were different types to tie one down, be it to one degree or another. And all that Jae-Ha vehemently rejected. The fact that one could still move around in Haven, and that there were actual places to go, to some degree, along with being fully able to interact with others, was all the more to make things worse. The deception behind it all, and more particularly, that he had nothing in his power to change any of these circumstances, was enough to make his blood boil.

At times Jae-Ha would make for the top of the billboard (that slogan be damned), even while at the same time, now and then, taking in Haven from this vantage point only instilled his original frustration with the state of what this place truly was. He might wonder just how far out the ruins went, or if there was anything at all beyond the horizon (how handy it would be to have Shin-Ah right about now).

He made his rounds, anyway. Leaping from roof to roof, or at times testing both his strength and speed within the tunnels. It did well enough to dispel any current frustrations when his temper was on the edge, though none of it was able to wipe it clean, as he had done when finally breaking away from his home village. Compared to now, that seemed like such an easy feat. It just wasn't going to happen in that kind of way, with what this place was like. More than just ugly and infuriating, Haven was downright repulsive.
