APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. At this point in Raziel's life, with Nate's existence providing hope for it, his goal has primarily become to end the war. As Lucifer was the catalyst for it in the first place, and as Raziel's oldest and most powerful brother, he'd be a powerhouse on their side if he could be convinced to join them. He never stopped loving Lucifer, he simply couldn't stand with him when he turned on their father. Raziel is hoping that Nate will be the combination of heavenly and earthly that will win Lucifer over in the end, since it's far more likely that with Nate on the Throne, things in heaven will be considerably different than they were during God's reign. (He's also hoping that Lucifer wants to go home as badly as he himself does.)

Again, since Raziel's ultimate goal is to end the war and hopefully go home, at this point, he's not really thinking about what it means for him personally once their goal is met. His affection and faith in Nate also play a lot into his desire to put the human man on the Throne, and provided it actually happens and Nate truly grows into his power, well.. he'll be the new God. What that ultimately means is that what was broken, Nate will be able to fix, and Raziel believes that eventually, he'll be healed and restored to what he was.

When he really stops to think about it, though, he understands that he'll never truly be the same. He's lived like a human for over two-thousand years. He thinks a lot like a human, he feels the way a human does, and he loves the way a human does, so a part of him is a little scared to become an archangel again. He doesn't really know what it will mean for his relationship with Nate, and he doesn't want to lose what they have.

I hope this answers your questions!

woo i hope this is good and that i didn't just ramble on about shit that doesn't really matter

All modern werewolves are directly or indirectly descended from the Tribe of Benjamin-- though most just consider it a legend or a fable. There are thousands of werewolf clans across the world, mostly concentrated in parts of the world with historically sizable Jewish populations. (But not all werewolves are Jewish, as thousands of years of intermarriage and dominance of the werewolf genes lead to a spread, blah blah genetics it’s hard to stop rambling about it...) There are less of them than there are humans and vampires, but more than the other

The supernatural communities-- for all the species and races considered themselves entirely separate entities, and rarely interacted except to battle over land and power-- remained rather well hidden for most of humanity’s existence. However, around the mid-twentieth century, it began to get harder and harder to hide as technology made the world expand and yet grow closer. In the 1960s, all the various governing bodies of the paranormal, from the vampire Senate to the werewolf Clans to the fairy monarchies, officially revealed their existence to the people of Earth. They took as well as could be expected-- finding out that creatures of legend aren’t legends at all can be pretty freaky-- and it took nearly twenty years for the inhuman to find a place in human society, with some having more success than others. Most werewolves, for example, still live in the more rural areas of the world, where they can still transform and hunt as much as they want. This is why the Goldsteins live in the Ozarks.

And then we have Annie herself. She has five older brothers, the oldest being 30, and seven younger brothers, the youngest being eight. Being the only girl of a species that prizes girls, she had certain privileges even her older brothers didn’t have. (She was allowed to have her own bed when she became a teenager, and she was always the undisputed leader in all of their games.) Her father is an electrician and her mother is a chicken farmer; she is not as close to them as she is to her brother, Asher, who was the one who essentially raised her. Discipline was lax in the family and the children mostly had free range, but it was somewhat set in stone that Annie would take over her mother’s position once she became an adult. Her defiance in leaving and her apparent decision to end the family line by courting a woman caused a bit of a riff, but werewolves can’t stay mad at their own kin for very long.

She wanted to tell herself it was a bad nightmare. A bad… year long nightmare. As if maybe she’d been in a coma a year and had the most absurd dream, and that all the horror she’d witnessed in all that time really was over. She could ask Naruto about what had happened, and he could easily laugh and say “What are you talking about, Sakura-chan?” God, what a relief if would be to hear that, too. She was so tired of scientists and so tired of monsters. But they’d let them go; she remembered at first hesitating upon seeing her home world in the strange door portal, thinking it another trap but… he said it was over. He said they could go home.

Bleary eyed, she woke, trying to look around but her eyes wouldn’t clear that she could see. She sat up, rubbing her face and sighing. “What a dream!” She blinked again, the world coming into view, but her breath hitched when she realized this is… it was no medical ward she was familiar with. It wasn’t her home, even. “…Naruto?” It seemed he was always not far behind when trouble started up, and they lived together after all. She steps out of her bed, shoes still on her feet much to her surprise. She saw each of her bags resting on the table beside her bed with the row of other beds before her. From the corner of her eye she spotted something bright red on the bed. A Santa hat… something she’d woken up with in Discedo not too long ago. Her eyes grew wide, and without a moment’s hesitance, she bolted from the room.

She knew she wasn’t supposed to remember Discedo. She’d spoken with Naruto at great lengths about his return to their home six months ago. As her shoes hit the floor, running down the unfamiliar hallway, she looked left and right, moving as quickly as she could to the world outside this apartment building. She shouldn’t remember… and nothing should have come with her. Yet there was the Santa hat… here were her memories.

She threw open the doors outside, slowing as the dirt kicked up under her heels. She stared at the gray sky; looked at the destroyed buildings. They lied. She hadn’t go home like they said she could. Her knees hit the ground and she stares, so overcome with sadness and anger. She missed home more than she’d ever imagined; she wanted to see her parents again. To see Yamato and Kakashi. She wanted to go to Naruto and tell him she was finished with searching for Sasuke; she wanted to show Tsunade all the strange medical procedures she’d learned from Cube. She wanted to tell Ino of the strongest man in Ikebukuro who’d saved her life…

Trying to maintain composure; trying to breathe normally; and trying to fight back tears, she searched for her communicator. It wasn’t what she remembered, and struggles at first with the strange cellphone. Pictures? But she recognized nobody. She was alone. She shook her head. What was happening? Why wasn’t she done with this??

Nadeko Sengoku | Monogatari Series

[personal profile] constricted 2013-01-06 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Yana
Contact Info: [plurk.com profile] vinea
Other Characters Played: N/A
Preferred Apartment: None.

Character Name: Nadeko Sengoku
Canon: Monogatari Series
Canon Point: Nisemonogatari
Background/History: Bake/Nisemonogatari summary, Otorimonogatari summary, I can link to the actual light novels if need be.
Previous Game History: N/A
Personality:

Ever since Nadeko was little, she had always possessed a shy, introverted and somewhat eccentric type of character. She hates being touched. She hates the warmth of other people's bodies. She never looks into the eyes of other people and she doesn't like it when they look into hers, using her hat and long bangs to shield herself from their stares. She keeps her head down when spoken to, and her replies are often soft, broken and mumbled. She refers to herself in the third person. There's a hint of nervousness and hesitation in her voice whenever she speaks up, which is a rare occurrence in itself - an indication that confidence and a sense of self are departments in which she truly lacks.

Perhaps it's because she isn't particularly good at anything, nor is she interested in topics most girls her age are. For example, she was once part of the softball club, but quit shortly afterwards because "it was too tiresome". Although she is the class representative, a job pushed onto her, she doesn't fulfill any of her responsibilities. Her conversations with Koyomi are often riddled with obscure references to manga from thirty years ago, but that may stem from how she is easily amused. Because of her inability to make conversation, her pessimism, low self-esteem and lack of motivation, it is a shame for such a cute girl to not have friends at all.

Nadeko Sengoku doesn't have many friends. She has no one to rely on but herself. She consciously chooses not to rely on anyone but herself, wishing that people would give up and go away. Her inferiority complex leads her to believe that it is better if people do not worry about her. She doesn't want to trouble them. She can handle her problems on her own. Tsubasa Hanekawa herself comments that Nadeko's independence is one of her strengths. However, in Otorimonogatari, many characters foreshadow her timidity as a flaw that will not save her. Earlier in the series, Nadeko attempts to remove her curse by herself as she keeps silent about the pain she feels as it constricts her body, but in the end, she cannot save herself in time alone.

But what if?

What if she wanted to be saved by someone else after all? All throughout the series, she keeps hoping, hoping that certain someone will save her as he always did.

Thus, it is no surprise that she treasures the moments when she meets people who are genuinely kind to her.

Among the few people Nadeko had gotten to know in her life, if one asked her who among them stood out the most, she will, without a doubt, answer, "Koyomi onii-chan". Koyomi Araragi and his younger sister, Tsukihi Araragi or "Rara-chan", were both her playmates long before she entered junior high. Nadeko knew Tsukihi from school, but she came to admire Koyomi for his kindness, which she still remembers clearly after all those years, so clearly that she rejects other boys who confess to her because of him. Knowing his gentle and kind nature, she does not hesitate to ask for his help when she needs it the most. Nadeko deeply trusts him, and while Tsukihi believes that Nadeko's feelings are only there because she is "too innocent" and doesn't know many people, Nadeko has loved him more than anyone else for the longest time.

For Koyomi, there are are many things Nadeko would do that no girl her age normally thinks of doing for the person she likes. Appear scantily clad in front of him in her own room, for example. Strip in front of him in his own room, for example. But while her admiration for Koyomi is presented as a harmless crush in the first season of Bakemonogatari, Nadeko is incapable of accepting reality and handling her emotions regarding him. For Nadeko, loving someone is a way to make her feel better. Thus, she may have fallen in love with anyone who showed kindness to her. Koyomi just happened to be there.

Nadeko likes Koyomi so much that she is happy as long as she can stay by his side. She feels jealous of even Shinobu, who fights alongside him. But when she finds out about his girlfriend, Hitagi, her obsession heightened and everything goes downhill. Instead of giving up, Nadeko is unable to accept that Koyomi loves someone else and cannot be with her anymore. She feels resentment towards Hitagi and, having no one else to talk to, she constricts herself with her own emotions until they drive her crazy. Nadeko goes great lengths to take what she has pined for so long. She leaves her one wish in the hands of an oddity - in reality, a mere delusion of hers. With this, she becomes an irredeemable monster and attempts to kill Koyomi. Her strength came from love and love disappeared. When her heart broke, her whole world did.

The Nadeko arriving in Haven will be from a time well before all is revealed to her, but who's to say that won't happen? For now, she'll be that shy girl in the corner wearing a large hat covering her eyes, biting her lip as she worries about how to escape.

Abilities/Powers: None.

Items/Weapons: Her hat.

Sample Entry Two:

(I have two samples for this in case one doesn't show enough! I wrote this one for percaligovideo but it's a rather normal one as far as settings go.)

The snakes slithered as they slathered a slimy substance across the linoleum, crossing over the mixture of soil and water from the other broken glass cages. The event took place not too long before Nadeko arrived at the scene, so by looking at the state of the pet shop, it wasn't difficult to imagine the chaos earlier. Then again, she did remember seeing a scuffle earlier. Maybe it had something to do with that? This place was more dangerous than she thought it would be. Right now, her mind was preoccupied with the creatures crawling on their bellies like the lesser lifeforms they are. She came here with the intention of purchasing a rodent in mind, but when a snake began to swallow a rabbit, she shut her eyes, left the shop and ran across the street.

After those curses placed on her, snakes have always seemed to possess some ill will towards Nadeko. In a panic, she felt her neck, checked her arms and legs - no scale markings. True enough, she hadn't angered anyone yet. Besides, Inaba was far, far away from charms, curses and shrines surrounded by oddities. Things from her home world shouldn't have to bother her anymore, right? She doesn't want to be a burden to anyone, anger anyone or experience that much pain again. But at the same time, there's a tiny part of her that wants herself to get hurt, if it means Koyomi will come to rescue her...

When will that time come? she wondered. Whenever it was, it was clear to her that she will have to do her best to hold up on her own. She was used to that. Taking in a deep breath, Nadeko looked back at the chaotic pet shop, feeling brave enough to face the snakes of this world. One blink later, from the corner of her eye, she swore she saw this - a snake bared its teeth at her, and as if it was looking at its next meal, smiled.

(This was written with virtualimmersion's setting in mind, but I believe it stays true to her character!)

Death.

To be honest, Nadeko's never thought about it. Who makes an ordinary fourteen-year-old girl think about such a thing in this day and age?

For a girl in a safe neighborhood with today's medical advancements and her family's economic status, there wasn't anything to fear. For her entire life, a cautious girl like Nadeko never ran into any sort of danger. Even so, you couldn't say she was happy. For a girl in a school where she had no friends and no strength to fight back, there wasn't anything to look forward to. For her entire life, a timid girl like Nadeko never ran into any sort of miracle. Even so, you couldn't say she was unhappy.

But like any other person, if given the choice between life and death, wouldn't living be the obvious answer? It's human instinct to survive. One might argue (and it's possible that Nadeko has thought of this before): what was the point of being if she was unsure of her own existence herself? The inability to reach out and affect others only cripples her and closes her world. Wouldn't it be better if she had not lived at all? Nadeko thought this: putting an end to her life was troublesome. The erasure of her existence might relieve others, but her disappearance from this world will only stop her from seeing that person.

Upon hearing of her possible fate in Aincrad, the desire to see the sole important person in her life burned brightly once again. It may have been a flame back then, but now it's there, a little more certain of its existence. Existence proves itself by its intense fire - the heat makes her heart jump as the flame flickers. Nadeko holds her chest before it starts hurting, tightening and spinning out of control. That was the moment when these sentiments were just as crystal as she had hoped.

Alone, she is weak, but that's fine. Alone, she doesn't burden anyone. She wasn't sure of who she was, but she was sure of what she wanted. The will to live was right here. She just had to act on it.

"Nadeko has to see him..."

The paradise she aims for awaits.

Mr. Gold / Rumpelstiltskin | Once Upon a Time | Reserved

[personal profile] finedprint 2013-01-09 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Nym
Contact Info: rockswithewoks @ plurk
Other Characters Played: N/A
Preferred Apartment: None!

Character Name: Mr. Gold is an alias but it's the one he commonly uses. His real name is Rumpelstiltskin, though that will be kept on the downlow. He is also known as The Dark One, The Spinner, The Imp, The Crocodile, and The Beast. A lot of The's.

Canon: Once Upon a Time
Canon Point: After the season 2 episode The Queen of Hearts

Background/History:

Gold's past as Rumpelstilskin
Gold's time in Storybrooke following the curse

Personality:
Outwardly, Gold is a man who appears eerily calm, collected, and having just a hint of something disreputable to him. The superficial layer of Gold is the man that deals with his surroundings rationally, thoroughly and without any particular regard to how morality skews into things. Ultimately self-serving, Gold makes it his priority to make situations lean in his favor, and should they not, he's the type to have a plan A, B, and C ready at his disposal to ensure that it happens.

At his core, however, the one single most dominating aspect of Gold's personality is his complete and utter cowardice. Underneath the layers of dastardly planning, cool composure, and heartless bastard, Gold is a man who is intensely afraid. Stemming from his brush with death during the Ogre Wars when he was Rumpelstiltskin, a poor spinner, Gold is a man who feels as if he must always be ten steps ahead in order to preserve his power and soothe his dominating fears. To Gold, power is everything. This ambition and horrendous drive stems from his fear of being weak and helpless, as he was in his original human form in Fairy Tale Land that Was (FTL). That cowardice often fuels Gold's more Machiavellian schemes, as his power is his security that he will not be susceptible to weakness once more.

As a man, Gold lacked courage to follow through on his convictions, and because of that he was often bullied and treated like dirt. This cultivated an already low self-esteem and raised it to the extremes. As soon as Rumpelstiltskin received the powers of the Dark One, that low self-esteem manipulated into a predisposition towards cruelty and malice- originally towards those who were cruel to him, but after time this became an equal opportunity of lashing out repressed pain. Having been the subject of ridicule as the Spinner, Rumpelstiltskin made out to make others suffer his own humiliation as the Dark One, blatantly exercising his new powers to make others fear him instead of the other way around. An example of this in canon is how he turns a man into a snail for accidentally bumping into his son, Bae, and the villagers' uneasiness around him following his curse. To Gold, that power is everything as it is something that keeps him elevated above those who used to torment him, and prevents him from being weak again. A weak man who received power, Rumpelstiltskin embodied his own antithesis once becoming the Dark One.

On the surface, Gold exhibits all the charm of Faust. He is manipulative, fond of one-liners with a deadpan delivery, and does his best to mind his manners. Having been cursed with an alternate personality, Rumpelstiltskin has merged with his Storybrooke counterpart of Mr. Gold. The camp, showmanship personality has been discarded and replaced by a man who exudes, above all things, control. Gold's bearing affects his interactions with the citizens of Storybrooke. He is cold, calculating and adept at evaluating the various states of desperation of those who seek out his services. Unrelenting with maintaining his contracts and deals, Gold knows how to read people in order to get what he wants, and is very proficient at manipulating actions to benefit his own ends. He is a patient man, and is willing to wait to see his actions bear fruit, preferring to keep the role of chess master rather than outright villain. Inherently selfish, Gold's priorities are usually his own well-being and power, though that is something that has begun to get complicated with the arrival of his one true love in Storybrooke and the love he holds for his son, Baelfire.

In certain situations, however, Gold expresses empathy when the desperation is one that is familiar to him, particularly with matters concerning children. Gold has a very noticeable soft spot for children, no doubt a reflection of his relationship to his beloved son. Typically, when a child is at stake or directly involved, Gold is seen to be either benevolent or far more accommodating than his typical loan shark approach to deal making (canon examples are his assisting Henry with his nightmares free of charge, giving Emma walkie talkies so she and her boy could play together, and his withdrawn, sullen attitude when separating a younger Charming from his mother). And he identifies and relates to the desperation of a parent in a manner that ultimately inspires, if not total compassion, at least a greater deal of leniency and sympathy. Though Gold is not a man who is easy to love, when he does, it is quickly something that encompasses him.

Throughout Rumpelstiltskin's impressive lifespan (at least over 500 years, with 28 of them served as Mr. Gold), only two people have been able to get passed his barriers, his son and Belle, his one true love. Because Gold is a man who loves sparingly, the way he behaves towards both of them is fueled by devotion and also, of course, fear. Extremely protective of both Belle and Bae, Gold's desperation to keep them safe has often lead to dire circumstances. His devotion to Bae is why the curse was created in the first place, and his regret at failing to protect both Bae and Belle is what fuels if not all, a large majority of his actions. Currently in Storybrooke, Belle's presence and the possibility of finding his son serve as a tether to the good side of the Force, so to speak. Belle is one of the few whose opinion Gold respects, and while he does not always listen to it, she has his trust and is the only person Gold has opened up to in regards to Bae. And the power that Gold wields, as well as his continued existence, has all been for the sole purpose of protecting his son. If it came down to it, Gold would willing to anything to reunite with his estranged son and to keep him safe.

Due to his overly protective nature and low self-esteem, there are a few things that can shatter Gold's carefully crafted composure. If one knows the right place to strike, Gold is prone to temper explosions, and can be exceedingly cruel and destructive when pressed. Commonly, anything dealing with either Belle or Bae is enough to set off Gold's composure, as evidenced by his excessive cruelty to the soldiers trying to take Bae to the Ogre Wars and his merciless kidnapping and beating of Moe French, the Storybrooke counterpart of Belle's father, Lord Maurice. Gold also has the tendency to place the blame of his own failings on others, such as his conversations with both Milah, his ex-wife, and Moe in regards to losing both Bae and Belle where he blames them both for the loss that he also had a hand in. Typically when an area of emotional vulnerability is exposed for Gold, his reaction is to lash out and harm whoever is attempting to get close to him. Destruction seems to be an emotional relief for Gold, such as when he destroys his pawn shop after a setback regarding his search for Bae, or destroying his treasures when he believes Belle has betrayed him. A man rooted in paranoia, Gold has difficulties acknowledging people as anything but an opponent, enemy, or pawn.

Overall, Gold is a man that suffers from his fatal flaw of cowardice, and overcompensates it with the need to maintain power. The love of magic is something that Gold has struggled with ever since being cursed as the Dark One, and it is one that also poisons the relationships he has with his few loved ones. Gold has a cripplingly low self-esteem that manifests itself as a cruelty towards others in order to maintain control and protection over those he values.

Abilities/Powers:

Once a poor spinner, Rumpelstiltskin became an avatar for the powers of The Dark One when he stabbed the former avatar, Zoso, with an enchanted dagger. With Zoso's death, the evil magical powers transferred to Rumpelstiltskin. While the magic that the Dark One can utilize has not been specifically outlined in canon, it is known that the Dark One holds considerable, fearful power and cannot be killed or destroyed by conventional means. However, he has two main limitations. One, is that his magic always comes at a price. For whatever deal, spell, or curse that Rumpelstiltskin creates, there are consequences to that action that must be paid. Typically, Rumpelstiltskin's magic was used for his "customers", and as such, it was his customers that paid the price in the end of the deal. The other limitation is that Rumpelstilskin can be killed if he is stabbed by the enchanted dagger that bears his name, and if someone were to possess said dagger, it would give them complete control over Rumpelstiltskin.

Following the return of magic to Storybrooke, Mr. Gold has had his magic returned to him. As canon has not specified the limitations of his returned magic yet, I am going to be playing Gold as having only the specific powers that have been demonstrated in canon and will not speculate any further. So far in Storybrooke, Gold has been able to use magic for teleportation abilities, telekinesis, and transformative abilities such as when he spins straw into gold. He can also utilize magical items such as the fairy godmother's wand.

Items/Weapons:

Mr. Gold will be arriving with:

- his cursed dagger
- his spinning wheel
- a chipped tea cup

Sample Entry: here's a post from Dear_mun. And another one! If you'd like more I'd be more than happy to write a sample.

Sample Entry Two:
It felt ridiculous and, above all, completely frustrating to be reminded with every step of what had replaced the man once known as Rumpelstiltskin. But the jarring pain that traveled from foot to thigh as Gold placed pressure on his bad leg was enough to remind him. The perpetually overcast weather that inhabited Maine was hardly an assist to the situation, the dampness in the air combined with the chill making twisted ligaments and over-exerted muscle scream in pain.

His fingers curled and clenched onto the golden handle of his cane, the knuckles straining white. It was no matter, Gold reminded himself, jaw tightening just slightly as the well-walked path from his shop to his home grew less even due to pavement becoming rock. It was all done with purpose, and when one had seemingly eternal life then a few decades spent cursed to this...weakness was hardly a price to pay. What was a limp in a land without magic, after all?

Gold could feel something dark settle in his stomach at the thought. Twenty eight years, he had remained ignorant in Storybrooke due to the curse of his own devising. Twenty eight years without remembering his past as the spinner Rumpelstiltskin or the sorcerer Dark One.

Twenty eight years without the memory of his son. Baelfire. Bae.

The grip on his cane grew a little tighter, as Gold hobbled up the steps to his house.

This was for Bae. That alone could give some comfort, a rigid purpose for this willful relinquishing of power. Bae had been sent to the land without magic, and now Gold was finally managing to fulfill his part of the deal. All would be taken care of. Bae would be alive, he would be safe. And Gold- Rumpelstiltskin- would be making a trip to the wishing well should the child of Snow White and Charming manage to complete her job.

Gold tossed his keys on the stair's railing, making his way to the kitchen by shouldering past the large, oaken china cabinet.

Yes. All would go smoothly and according to plan-

The sound of the cane against the floor stopped, and Gold slowly retraced his steps.

At the very front of the cabinet was a china tea set. White porcelain with gold filigree, a blue Wedgeworth-reminiscent design. He- Gold- remembered purchasing it off Moe French, a piece of the collateral needed for him to start his flower business. He had paid far lower than the antique set had been worth, citing a chip in one of the tea cups as rendering the value significantly less.

Shakily, Gold twisted the key for the cabinet. And an unsteady hand reached inside, taking the cup and drawing it back to his hands.

Perhaps the shop would remain closed for the day, as Gold's thumb traced the edge of the chipped cup and a whole new set of memories returned.

Character Name: Haru Miura.
Canon: Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Canon Point: Chapter 408
Background/History: Link here!
Personality: Haru is an eccentric and peppy girl who has a tendency to jump to wild conclusions (examples would be overreacting or getting crazily excited over new things or the idea of making friends) as well as having a myriad of wild habits that would be considered 'strange' or 'weird' by people who do not know her personally. She loves and is overprotective of children, showing that she has a motherly side and is usually the one to babysit Lambo and I-Pin with Kyoko without much protest. It's very rare for Haru to get angry because she is always shown to be very bubbly and happy but there can be times where her temper can rise if her friends are insulted or looked down upon.

Even with the odd quirks that are very well much present when it comes to Haru she can be oddly serious when faced with a life and death situations and knows how to react accordingly. She knows for a fact that being affiliated with vongola could have consequences for her later on in the future and people would attempt to injure, kidnap or even kill her but she is willing to be with them through thick and thin because her sense of pride is far too great for her to leave them behind. Most would see a naive and innocent girl and while it's true to an extent, it has been shown that she has been the first out of her friends (non fighting ones) to realize that Tsuna was actually associated with the mafia even though she didn't know the details of how serious it was until very much later on.

Haru is also greatly protective of her friends and she wouldn't hesitate to give her life for them or even throw herself into battle if one was injured. She thinks of them as family and people she wants to grow up with and knowing that they could die at any time pains her. That is why for greater or for worse if it came down to saving one person she would let them live rather than herself. While she might not have powers like the rest of the guardians do, Haru is shown to be strong both psychically and mentally more so than the other. This is a key factor in Haru's life that helps her overcome much of the worries that would naturally come with being associated with an organization like the mafia. Her determination to strive and move on forward never seems to waver, not even in the difficult times. It has been stated by Reborn and Tsuna that she shows great characteristics of being a true mafioso.

Despite how she acts and how she might look, Haru in actuality is a very bright and smart person who can handle certain tasks in a breeze if given enough time to solve it. She is the only one out of her group that attends Midori Middle School which is said to be one of the toughest schools to get into. Another certain trait that defines Haru greatly is how selfless she is when it comes to her friends and how she always thinks more about them and how it would affect their relationship in the long run. It's pretty well known by everyone in the entire group that Haru has a giant crush on Tsuna. Haru always talks about one day being a mafia wife and the utterly ridiculous fantasies of what she imagines will happen in the future. She knows though, that Tsuna does not have any feelings for her regardless of the many times that she has confessed and he is only solely focused on Kyoko. It hurts her but Haru has never felt or been spiteful towards the other girl. Her friendship with Kyoko is more important than a boy and it shows that despite the turmoil that might happen because of these conflicting emotions she would always take her friends side rather than let her emotions take over.

Abilities/Powers: Does making costumes count? In all seriousness Haru doesn't really have any definitive skills unlike her mafia friends. She does know some martial arts and is fast on her feet from track but other than that shes as simple as one could get.

Items/Weapons:
Her three items will be a sewing kit (that includes balls of yarn, cloth, etc) her diary and a picture frame of her mother.

Sample Entry:
[Static is seen over the screen and then it eventually fades away to reveal a young looking brunette who's face is way too close in. After separating some distance a hand reaches up to rub at her cheek as if struggling to come up with something to say.] Ahhh..I hope people can see Haru! This phone looks really old..

Oh anyways, Hello! My name is Haru Miura and it's a pleasure to meet all of you! [A bright smile forms on her face and it's one that would be considered strange because of her current predicament.] This place is a little gloomy for Haru and she doesn't know how she got here but..[She trails off and here is where the video shakes out of focus from her jittery movements.] Hahi! Haru will make the best of it. There is no point in feeling depressed, ne?

Haru has a question and she would greatly appreciate it being answered. Does anyone know if Haru can find a place to eat a slice of cake? Shes craving some!

Sample Entry Two: It had only been a week since Haru had mysteriously woken up only to find that the bed she had been sleeping on previously was not her own. Everything outside was dark and eery and it looked like something out of a horror movie - And for a split second she had assumed someone had played a rather nasty joke on her. She knew this wasn't any prank and the longer she peeked outside the more she got anxious. That was normal though, right? It was normal to feel scared, unsure of this new environment and place. She figured that eventually it would go away. For the first day Haru didn't leave the apartment. Sure she was curious to explore outside, but every time she peeked through the window she felt like something from within the darkness was watching her every move. It was an irritating sensation and she didn't like it.

To pass the time (and as a way to distract herself) Haru had familiarized herself with the new home that she was in. Knowing there were other people living with her and also being in the same situation made her feel oddly better. She had happily introduced herself to them, asked them what was going on and then once she got the information she was looking for returned back to her uncomfortable bed to sleep off the exhaustion of the day. It wasn't soon that the brunette had gathered the courage to leave her apartment and venture outside. There was nothing much to see and she eventually returned back to her apartment out of small fright but she was happy. Happy that she had been able to take a step forward in determination.

"Haru wonders if she will ever be able to go back home.." In her hands was a small pink diary that looked worn out but in great condition. When she opened it up, she idly traced a small picture that she had taped on the inside of her and her father and then another with a thoughtful expression on her face. "Maybe she will! don't you think so too mom?" Her eyes slid over to stare at the small photo-frame that was standing on the small desk besides her bed. A soft smile spread over her face, fingers clutching onto her diary more tightly. "I'm sure Haru will."

Personality:

A high but fragile wall. A tightly stretched thread. The fear of not being needed.

An Eva pilot who is both proud and strong, Asuka is confident, loud and conceited. She’s highly opinioned when it comes to both her appearance and her skills as pilot and often compares herself to others. In some cases she is seen being violent and ruthless, especially when it comes to interacting with Shinji who she shares a very difficult and complex relationship with. She has a tendency of closing herself off to others and refuses to open up to people, afraid to reveal a more vulnerable side. This is due to “growing up too fast” which is first noted by her grandmother during Asuka’s mother funeral.

I hate this. I hate everyone. I hate everything.
But most importantly, I hate myself.

The reason to why Asuka presents herself in such way is through most of her life, she felt the ever growing need to impress the people around her. She seeks for recognition and to be praise, from her parents, NERV, Shinji or anyone who is willing to give her the time and energy. As innocent as this may seem, throughout the year, it caused her to feel insecure about herself and questions if “anyone is willing to love her and be with her?” Simply put, if Asuka fails to impress, she, herself becomes a failure.

This goes all the way back to when Asuka’s relationship with her mother’s. Her mother was a scientist who with the Evas, more specifically she worked with the Eva Unit that Asuka later pilots. After undergoing an experiment, her mother suffered from head trauma causing her became incapable to communicating properly, thus leaving her going insane and forgetting her own daughter. She believed that Asuka’s doll was her real daughter and referred to Asuka as “that girl”. When Asuka was around, she often heard her mother speaking to the doll as if she was speaking to her, bad mouthing her father and how he had left the both of them. She even suggested wanting to form a suicide pack with her, exposing the meaning of despair to her at a very young age.

Her mother eventually does commits suicide by hanging herself; right before Asuka was chosen to become an Eva pilot. Soon after her mother’s death, she promised herself that she wouldn’t cry, show weakness and took on the responsible that she hard to care for herself, because she knew that no one else would. After when her father remarried after his wife’s death, it was said that stepmother found it difficult to become attach to her new daughter, due to her defensive and cold nature. The events from her past cause her to hold back a great deal of her feelings, more importantly her feelings and mental scarring that came from her mother’s illness and death.

Her main focus as an Eva pilot is not to protect Tokyo-3 from destruction from the Angels, but to merely impress and to show off to those around her. She often wears her A10 nerve clips in her hair, sporting them with pride and to remind that everyone that she is in fact a pilot. This is also a form of attention seeking, which goes back to her need to feel “wanted” and for certain people to noticed and love her. She has infatuation with Ryoji Kaji, her former guardian and made numbers of advances towards him. She even went as far telling him she wanted to be with him as a woman, implying she wanted to engage in sex with him. He however declines her offer because she was still a child and it would be immorally wrong. This more than likely crushed her spirit.

Why are you there, damn you?! You don't do anything!
You won't help me!
You won't even hold me!
You're no one! No one! No one! Why won't you look at me?

She also has strong feelings for fellow pilot and housemate, Shinji and although she denies the attraction due her cold nature, she fears of that he’ll hurt her in the end, which leads her hides her feelings by being overbearing and violent towards him, physically and mentally. When she suggested that the two should kiss, she pinches his nose shut and nearly suffocates him, showing that she holding back from opening up to him and hides her vulnerability with abuse. Jealously also plays a big part in Asuka’s character as she is equally jealous of both Shinji’s and Rei’s relationships with Gendo, Rei being his favorite and Shinji for being his son. She is more openly about her jealously with Rei and had told her that she hated downright hated her existence and mocks her by referring her as a “doll”.

After her losing battle against Zenuel, following by Arael entering into her mind and forcing her to relive her childhood, successfully traumatizing her. She becomes even more hostile towards Rei and Shinji as a sense of her pride was tainted after Rei had to take over her battle and save her. She also extremely jealous of Shinji’s friendship with Rei and fuels her rage towards Shinji and the fact that he is incapable of comforting her expressing his feelings to her.

Despite of her anger towards him, she desperately seeks his attention and revealed that she was upset with him because he didn’t hold her while they kiss, but is unable to realize that her aggression keeps him from getting close to her. Her overwhelming feelings and the fact that she couldn’t sync back up with her Eva causes her to fall into a heavy depression. Unable to pilot for NERV, she expresses that she has no real reason on continue to live and attempts to commit suicide but fails and falls into a deep coma.

Asuka fiery personality fails to keep people close and because of this, it leads her into a downward spiral of ever ending despair. Deep down and past her hard shell, Asuka is as delicate as a flower who is afraid of the world around her. She hates herself with a passion. She knows her behavior and bitterness causes the people who want to be close to her rejects her and that she has no else to blame but herself.

Abilities/Powers:

Durability: Asuka has no real “abilities, for she is only human. However, she is strong enough to withstand most things and hold out on her own. As an Eva pilot, she needs to sync with their Eva in order to pilot, which depends on the pilots mind and the soul of the Eva. If the Eva is damaged, so is the pilot. For example, if the Eva’s arm is ripped off, the pilot will feel as if their arm is ripped off.

Items/Weapons: Seeing that Asuka is not allow to bring her Eva along for the ride, she will bring her A10 nerve clips. They are useless here, however she's quite fond of them and she feels pretty wearing them.

Sample Entry:

Right here!

Sample Entry Two:

It’s been three days since Asuka arrived, three long draining days. Most of her time here, she kept to herself, idling away at the far corner of her room, which she share with six other strangers—all, who she had zero interest to engage in any conservations with. They were all clueless as she was. Her digits fiddle along the touch screen on her phone, as she rested her side up against the wall.

“Fuck.” Her lips murmured, her fingers tapping away at back button. Pushing herself off the wall, she did a little turn, fall back and landed in her bed, back first. Holding the phone up in the air, she continued to play with it. There must have been a reason why she received the phone upon arrival. It has been anything but useful to her. It was a worthless piece of backwards crap, but then again… this whole place was backwards.

Only if she got the phone to work, she could call home and ask for help. Help, huh? The idea of that ate away at her insides. But she had no other choice, she was just better off calling her step mother, Kaji or even Misato to come and take her away from this horrible place. She didn’t do much exploring, seeing she had no desire too. However she has overheard bit and pieces of her roommates speaking of what the environment was like outside. She could hear the fear in their voice, but she brushed it off and written off as if they were just a coward. She didn’t think too much of it. Sooner or later, she knew she would have to check it out for herself but for now, she had to get this phone working. It was her ticket out of here.
Beep!

“Hah! What a clever girl you are, Asuka!” She laughed out, finding the video chat call option finally. “Now to call home.”

Character Name: Alex Mercer
Canon: [Protoype]
Canon Point: Just after the end of the first game
Background/ History: http://prototype.wikia.com/wiki/Alex_Mercer

Personality:

Alex Mercer is, and always has been, cold. His initial instinct when meeting someone new is to be at least somewhat suspicious of their motives; a childhood spent in foster care, as well as several recent weeks of being hunted like a dangerous wild animal, almost losing his sister, discovering the unpleasant nature of his affliction, and betrayal have taught him that anyone, absolutely anyone, might turn around and stab you in the back for their own gain.

However, this isn’t to say that he shuns all human contact. There is no one he cares for more than his little sister (even going so far as to risk his life tracking the monster that kidnapped her). There were three others he trusted as well: his ex-girlfriend Karen Parker (who later betrayed him and nearly got him killed), a doctor by the name of Dr. Ragland who’d been given the blessing of his sister (who saved his and his sister’s lives) and a Blackwatch agent named Robert Cross who’d turned to him in an effort to both take down Blackwatch and to end the Blacklight plague (this, unfortunately, did not end well, but not through any fault of the agent). Thus, although Alex is typically at least somewhat paranoid, once someone has earned his trust he can be an invaluable ally.

A combination of Alex’s amnesia (and re-discovery of his identity/history), his epiphany of the true nature of his condition, the actions he’d been forced to take in order to survive and the get his revenge, and the memories of the hundreds of people and creatures he’d been forced to consume has given him something of an identity crisis. On the one hand, he does have a very strong moral compass as evidenced by his disgust with Blackwatch’s actions and his own actions from before he became infected with Blacklight, as well as some reluctance to reveal how he was getting top-secret information to his sister. On the other, he is a predator in a very literal sense, and is reminded of his actions by the final memories of his victims every time he closes his eyes. Compounding this is the fact that he isn’t exactly human, and has capabilities far beyond that of both humans and machines. This has left him with the dilemma of either trying to fit into society again despite knowing all too well just how flawed all human beings really are and having to constantly keep himself in check; or embracing his new, more violent nature to alter the world to better fit his own ideals even though this would result in the extinction of the human species.

Finally, Alex is gifted in a number of fields thanks to the memories he’s acquired from his many victims. He is an expert in genetics, possessing the memories of many of the field’s best and brightest, and has extensive knowledge in US military doctrine, techniques, and equipment.

Abilities/Powers:

- Shape-shifting (primarily to turn his body into a weapon or to take on the physical appearance of another person)
-Extreme physical strength (“cutting through tanks” strong)
-Infrared vision, instant healing (only if he’s well-fed; making new, healthy tissue costs energy and mass)
-Extreme durability (via instant healing)
-Enhanced speed and jumping
-The ability to consume living organisms in order to add to his mass and to absorb their memories (the latter only works if the brain is intact).

Essentially, he’s about the greatest security threat ever; he can steal an employee’s identity and memories to slip right through even a heavily guarded entrance, or he could just tear his way through the door. There’s also the possibility that he’s fire-proof, although the lack of fire damage in-game could have simply been a pragmatic choice to prevent near-constant fire damage during fights and can thus be cut from role-playing. The nature of the Blacklight virus means that he has a natural aversion to water, as evidenced by his tendency to leap high into the air to try to escape it if he becomes submerged rather than simply swimming to dry land.

It is important to note that Alex is not immortal; he was infected with a parasite that undoubtedly would have eventually killed him, and Blackwatch did manage to create a gas that would have killed him as well with enough exposure. Conventional weapons do not seem to be able to kill him, but they can weaken him to the point of being completely unable to defend himself (he can survive a nuclear blast, but reconstructing himself from puddles of goo took some time and some additional biomass from at least one unlucky crow.)

Sample Entry One:

[Alex scrutinizes the phone for several minutes, turning it over in his hands as he considers it and his situation. Alright. So, he has no idea where he is, how he got here, or why he’s here. Just a room and a phone. Still...at least it’s better than the morgue with two scientists in haz-mat suits about to cut into you. He punches in a random number; he’s not expecting it to really do anything, but his choices aren’t exactly varied. Either use the phone or take to the streets; at least the phone is at hand.]

Hello...? Is anyone there?

[Probably not, but it’s worth a shot; he waits for a moment, then starts to put it away when he hears something on the other end.]

Sample Entry Two:

[Alex sits on the roof, watching as the lights in the city around him turn on in the overcast twilight; not as many lights as there used to be. Not enough to turn the city into a brighter imitation of the night sky. At least there are more than there would be otherwise; it’s a small comfort, but with the quarantine still in effect, well...you take what you can get. The screams had mostly died down, too. It was strange to think that someday, the infection would just be a memory, just another catastrophe in New York’s long history of tragedies. Likely the worst, yes, but eventually it would just be a bad dream.

Would they learn anything from it? Would they learn not to take everything they hear at face value, or would they ignore the evidence of the past several weeks and continue to believe that the government had stepped in to save them, that the man on the news was an indiscriminate killer?

Something small hits him between the shoulders, like a small bullet; he cringes, then shakes his head and regains his composure. Right. Focus. There’s someone he missed, one of the few surviving Gentek scientists who’d escaped both the purge and his wrath. The others remembered her hiding here, just outside a former red zone. He can see her apartment; assuming she hasn’t altered her routine, she should be out any mo-

--Another small impact. He attempts to shake it off, then notices a dark spot on the cement beside him. And another. And another. Within a minute, the drizzle turns into a downpour, pounding against him, forcing him to leap from the roof to seek shelter from the onslaught. She can wait until the storm has passed; it’s not like she can get off the island, anyway.]
