APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Abilities/Powers: In the world of LOVELESS, certain people share a name, determined an unknown amount of time before they’re even born. These people are called Bonded Pairs, and separated into two categories: Fighters and Sacrifices.

As a team, they fight against other Bonded Pairs in Word Spell battles, a fight conducted using spells summoned by words (and, frankly, flowery language) as the name implies. In these battles, the Fighter is the attacker, using their linguistic skills to wage war on the other pairs Sacrifice at the command of their own. The Sacrifice, in return, issues orders and takes damage during the fight. The battle ends once the opponent’s Sacrifice is completely restricted of movement.

Fighters and Sacrifices have the most special connections in LOVELESS, bound together by a single name and a literal thread of fate, connecting from their hearts. This connection lasts even outside of battle, enabling them to find or call each other from great distances.

Ritsuka is a Sacrifice, but a special case. His name (the LOVELESS the series is named for) has yet to appear, and he’s never met his Fighter, at least not while knowing they are so (Yun Kouga has said he knows them, but they haven’t been introduced yet).

But there’s another thing that makes him, while not entirely unique as we find out later, definitely out of the ordinary: He is using another’s Fighter. Soubi fights for Ritsuka, although he belongs to Ritsuka’s brother Seimei and the pair “BELOVED”.

The non-matching names doesn’t seem to hinder his ability to act as a Sacrifice for Soubi, however.

Items/Weapons: Ritsuka won’t arrive with anything but the clothes on his back.

Sample Entry:
Soubi, answer your phone.

[ completely and total silence as the voice-mail continues to record. He repeats it again, voice a little more forceful this time. Then-- ]

You were the one who said you’d always answer when I called, you liar! [ in typical Ritsuka fashion, there’s an irritated sigh. most likely he’s debating whether to just hang onto that irritation and hang up the phone, leaving it at that. but he’d made a promise to Yuiko to ask, and he didn't break promises. ]

Fine, don’t pick up.

Yuiko wants you to go with us to the amusement park later. I told her you were busy, but she wouldn’t stop asking. …I’m not going to order to you to come. [ he’s hesitating. Naturally, he covers this up with, you guessed it, more tsuning. ] I want you to go if you want to. That’s an order! I order you to show up only if you want to go! I know if I don’t you’ll show up because you think I said you have to. [ when he finishes, for just a little while, there’s so sound except for him shifting around on his bed. ]

Just show up if you can, or if you want to. If you don’t, then don’t. But don’t cause any trouble or do anything weird!

I’m hanging up now! So don’t call me because I’m going to bed!

[ and the call disconnects without so much as a goodbye. ]

In addition, I figured I’d include the test drive memes thread for a little more variety: Here!

Sample Entry Two: Sample from [Bad username or unknown identity: ”exitvoid”]!

Sometimes, Ritsuka wishes he had his camera with him aboard the Charon. It’s in a place like this, taken to some strange ship at sea, in an ocean he doesn’t recognize (and certainly not his own world, because for all the strange things he’s seen so far, none of them have been like this.) that pictures would be the most helpful.

Sometimes a feeling of unreality sets in, and he wishes he had the camera just so he can prove sometime later that this did happen. That he did end up someone so bizarre with his once-dead brother alive again.

He’d photograph…well, everything, really. The unusual places, and the odd people, and bizarre creatures. And then he’d take them back and put them somewhere where only he can see, because he doesn't think Yuiko and or Yayoi or even Soubi would ever really believe him (and he knows his teachers or his therapist won’t). But even if no one else did, he’d have the pictures and the memories as undeniable proof that it had happened, that for however long he was here this place and these people had existed.

But his camera is long gone, left in his bag where he’d dropped it as soon as his Mother had begun to pull him violently toward the bathroom to try and drown him. He’d awoken aboard the Charon before he even got the chance to think of fishing it out. He wouldn’t have needed it for the night anyway.

So instead he does his best to see as many of these things as he can, (carefully, of course, and never without Seimei nearby) to talk to these people, and take in all these places. He commits them to memory as best he can (though there’s a constant underlying worry about how unreliable memory can be, and he should know most of all) and swears to --at the very least-- get the things he learns written down when he can.

Ritsuka knows better than anyone how faulty memory can be, but if he can’t take his photos to have undeniable proof they it did happen, that he did exist in another world even for a short time, then the least he can do is make every attempt to remember the names and faces around him.

Character Name: Kyouko Sakura
Canon: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Canon Point: Middle of Episode 9

Background/History: GeneralKyouko

Personality:

Kyouko has a history of fluctuating beliefs and ideals. As with most younger kids, her idea of justice and righteousness was shallow and one-note. Her values were also dictated by circumstance; with few friends at any early age, she loved and relied on her family more than an average girl would. This applies in particular to her father, a priest, who was the patriarch and provided for the family. He was a very honest and sefless man, and these sympathies drove him to preach a message that differed from traditional doctrine. Young Kyouko, however, believed wholeheartedly in her father’s message, and she couldn’t understand why the people rejected it. The injustice of it hurt her terrifically.

Kyouko’s family became very poor when her father was excommunicated from the church, and during that time of poverty, she learned the true value of keeping food on the table. It was a value she never let go of. To keep her family from starving, and to reverse the seemingly terrible injustice of her father’s word being ignored, Kyouko became a Puella Magi and made a wish that she thought would set everything right. For a little while, it seemed to work and Kyouko was happy. She was happy to be a hero, even behind the scenes, and to serve justice by saving people from witches. When tragedy struck, though, Kyouko became a very different person. Her father murdered her mother and sister, and killed himself when he found out the truth behind Kyouko’s wish.

It seems natural that this would turn any person’s world upside down. In response, Kyouko became selfish and jaded. With how things turned out, it seemed idiotic to use her powers to help anyone but herself. When the series begins and Kyouko first appears, she has completely bought in to her new ideals. She steals, and is seen habitually eating. She stops Sayaka from destroying a familiar, claiming that it’s stupid because there is no reward for doing so—she would rather have it kill a few people and become a witch. She also fights Sayaka, a fellow Puella Magi, over ideals and territory, almost killing her. She later stalks Sayaka and sadistically threatens to grievously injure the boy that Sayaka has strong romantic feelings for.

Despite this behavior, the strange thing is that Kyouko likes Sayaka. It boils down to the feelings and true nature of herself that Kyouko is repressing. Throughout the series, she goes through a fierce internal battle. After the death of her family, she is forced into maintaining a survival mode that requires ruthless self-sufficiency—there are things she thinks she has to do, and ways she thinks she ought to act; she cannot show weakness, she cannot show kindness, and she cannot rely on anyone but herself. This side of her battles with her older values—the ones she deemed worthless and naïve after the tragedy. And while her jaded side seems to dominate in her initial encounters with Sayaka, the fact that she still likes Sayaka manages to manifest in how much attention she pays her.

In reality, Kyouko is lonely and frustrated with her own lifestyle. Sayaka reminds her of herself when she was younger, and that is able to trigger some compassion in her, as well as a rising of old feelings and values. It first manifests in a conversation she has with Sayaka; she tells Sayaka the story of her past, and tries to use it to convince her to abandon her selfless ways before she is hurt by them. Sayaka rejects the suggestion flat out, and while this angers Kyouko, it also pushes her to reach out even more. There isn’t enough opportunity, though. By the time Kyouko is willing to more fully commit, Sayaka loses herself to despair and turns into a witch.

In brief summery, Kyouko has a multi-layered self. At her core, she is a girl who wants to find happiness. She has a fierce and jaded exterior, and she is willing to push her selfish agenda a long way. That said, she is still starved for company and friendship, and there’s a girl who understands the benefit of kindness and the pursuit of good buried under several layers of forced denial and hardened survival instinct.

Abilities/Powers:

Kyouko is a Puella Magi, and as such, she has a number of magically enhanced ablities: increased strength, stamina, agility and speed; healing powers; the ability to create magical barriers—these are the most prominent ones that Kyouko utilizes. The weapon she uses, which appears as she transforms and changes into her magical girl getup, is a spear. It can shrink and grow in length, and it can be broken into sections connected by chains which Kyouko can use to restrict enemies or increase the flexibility of her attacks.

While not “abilities,” per se, the costs to becoming a Puella Magi further separate Kyouko from existence as a normal human being. Upon making the contract, Kyouko’s soul was transferred into her Soul Gem, thus removing it from her body; as such, if Kyouko’s Soul Gem is destroyed, then she immediately dies. Additionally, as a Puella Magi uses her magic, her Soul Gem becomes tainted. If at any point it becomes too tainted, or if the Puella Magi succumbs to complete despair, the Soul Gem breaks and turns into a Grief Seed. A witch is then born. When a witch is destroyed, it drops a Grief Seed, which can be used to absorb the taint from a Soul Gem, thus maintaining a kind of endless cycle.

Items/Weapons: Just her Soul Gem. Its function is briefly explained in the above section.

Sample Entry: A Dear Mun Entry

Sample Entry Two:

Kyouko did not lack confidence, and she didn't lack power, but she owed more to her experience than she would be willing to readily admit. She also had the benefit of being more properly trained, and it was done in a much better, more supportive environment. That, along with everything else, made Sayaka's overall disadvantage as clear as day. Not that Kyouko was considering such things. Despite not having a clear vision for what she was really trying to do, beating Sayaka straight out was not on the agenda.

Even more of a mystery was her motivation -- the same thing she'd been grappling with earlier. Was it simple pity? Was it a raging, fruitless reaction to manifested despair that she was likewise fated to bear? Someday, perhaps not even long from now, would Kyouko no longer be able to reject the truth that Sayaka had arrived at? It was possible. For how long could she continue this lifestyle: to exist alone, to steal, to fight invisible battles, to hate the world…

Well, if she let Sayaka kill her here, none of those questions mattered in the slightest. That wasn't going to happen, though. After all, Kyouko sure did hate to lose.

Sayaka's first move was fairly slick, and it might have caught Kyouko off guard if she hadn't been completely focused. As soon as she sensed Sayaka's surging power, the light in Kyouko's own ring shone. She lowered her right hand and her spear appeared there in time to block Sayaka's blade. Kyouko held her weapon steady, still allowing Sayaka to maintain the grip on her off hand.

“Hey, that wasn’t bad,” Kyouko said. “Guess you've picked up some moves since last time, huh?”

Personality: In Chrom's army, everyone's a little bit unique. Maybe one's got difficulties falling asleep. Maybe one's the best at peeling potatoes. And maybe one is not only the fastest to run away when dangerous situations arise, but this one can go from being timid and soft-spoken to screaming, laughing maniacally and becoming absolutely abrasive when stress comes a-callin'.

Meet Noire. Due to her mother's tendency to test all of her curses on her ever since she was a wee young thing, she's grown into quite the downcast pessimist with a weak constitution, easily startled and frightened of bugs, hexes, and speaking her mind. She's not much for dynamic actions and charging into battle is something she prefers to leave her more energetic allies, but then there are times when she... changes. Originally due to a talisman meant to help her deal with her fear and dislike of violence and crippling lack of self-confidence, Noire possesses an alter-ego, one who has no problems stating her ire or threatening violence or just plain insulting people. Talisman aside, this side of her usually surfaces when Noire's stress levels reach the breaking point; in a support with the female Morgan, she explains that it tends to happen when lots of little things build up, culminating in her ranting and raving over something as trivial as being tired of walking. As terrifying as this part of her can be, it usually aids Noire in helping her get out what she has to say, and it's why she's able to fight in her paralogue-- she's scared to take up the bow until she uses her talisman, and then she's ready to take on any enemy. The talisman is later taken away by Tharja, but as stated before, Noire no longer needs it.

As you can probably guess, a lot of her personality and her views come from her parents and her loss of them. Having been subjected to her mother's experimental hexes day after day, Noire's constantly paranoid about anything the slightest bit unnatural-- including finding random objects or feeling stronger after a battle. Understandably, she dreads Tharja's hexes, but she also seeks to learn them, presumably as a way to establish another tie between her and her mother and to earn her approval. No matter what suffering she went through at her mother's hands, she loves her deeply and doesn't blame her in the slightest for being too busy avenging her husband's death to pay much attention to her daughter's learning. She died protecting her, after all, and Noire even comes to understand that the reason she never learned hexes was that her mother loved her and didn't want her involved in the risks that it took to perform such dark magic. With her father, you get to see Noire's stance regarding her situation: ultimately, she's not convinced that coming to the past will actually change the future, especially when history repeats itself. But when he confiscates his wife's cursing tools in order to prevent her from using them on Noire, something he'd never done in the future, that action is enough to give Noire a spark of hope. A thought that maybe the future can change for the better.

Given the fact that Noire is afraid of most everything and is prone to flying into rages at random moments, you'd think she would be considered a handful among her allies. ... And you would be right. In her supports with Severa, Noire messes up more often than not, getting herself sick, needing to be accompanied to the bathroom, etc. She terrifies Inigo by shooting arrows perilously close to him, in order to dissuade any questionable ladies from getting close. Still, she truly means well, and Noire at heart is actually a very sweet girl who takes active steps to improve herself and to help others. In one support, she asks an ally to help her overcome her fear of bugs, rather than moping over how pathetic a weakness it is. She hides Yarne without asking why when he comes running to her for help. She looks after the female avatar after she collapses from exhaustion, begging her not to take on all their burdens and offering a listening ear when she needs it. She's also got a bad habit of pushing herself, despite her frail nature and anemia; this means there's an increased chance of her falling backwards because she's carrying something too heavy, or collapsing because she overdoes it, but no one can say that Noire doesn't try her utmost to be useful to everyone else. She may dislike fighting, and she might still be scared, but when it comes to doing her part, she'll join her comrades on the battlefield (shaking all the way).

Also she's surprisingly good at baking. Yes, this is a notable talent.

Overall, Noire might be self-deprecating, but she's willing to better herself. She might be scared of everything her mother's hexes, but she still wants to be useful. She's eccentric, but she's strong, in her own way, and she's just as committed to fighting for what's important as her friends are. She... just has to be able to train effectively without collapsing first.

Abilities/Powers: Like the other orphaned kids from a grim future fighting undead soldiers for the sake of survival, Noire's no stranger to warfare and has fought more than her fair share of battles. She demonstrates a prowess with the bow especially, even when she's initially weaponless in her paralogue. According to her mother, a very powerful dark mage, Noire has incredible magical potential but has never actually succeeded in hexing anyone. In combat situations, she can wield dark magic perfectly fine, and she's actually self-taught in that respect, teaching herself magic from observing her mother. Her go-to weapon remains the bow, though, and as such, her game skills are related to her Archer class-- as seen below, translated ICly.

Prescience: When Noire's the first to engage someone in a fight, her hit and avoidance rates are a lot better.
Bowfaire: Basically, Noire hits harder when she's using a bow.
Accuracy +20: She hardly ever misses a target.
Rally Skill: ICly speaking, think of it as a brief spell used on allies to give them a chance of landing a more critical hit.
Skill +2: MORE CRITICALS.

Items/Weapons:
- Her mother's ring
- A Killer Bow
- Clothes

Sample Entry: Here you go!
Sample Entry Two:

Mother would have been delighted, Noire had decided, not long after she'd begun her (very very cautious, tiny-stepped) exploration of her surroundings. This place, so desolate and discarded, accompanied by the prickling sensation of having someone's eyes fixated on you-- it was a dark mage's dream come true. Which of course meant that it did very little to grant Noire a sense of security. So far, the only consolation seemed to be that she hadn't stumbled across a single bug yet. Which was a relief! She had no wish to use up too much energy screaming and running in terror, not when she had to focus on survival and information-gathering. It had been awhile since she'd been truly alone, though... the depressing nature of that thought was starting to get to her, which only made her feel worse. Because maybe she'd been spoiled, being able to find a second home with younger parents, with her friends, because anything had been better than the world where very little remained. Was this a punishment, perhaps? Or a curse, something even stronger than her mother's? Something like this... couldn't be anything but a very dark curse.

Was anyone else even here? She'd tried calling out, timidly, but no one had responded and she hadn't wanted to start screaming without knowing what else would emerge if she did. The odd, battered device she'd discovered could prove useful... but what if she broke it? It would be just her luck, damaging something that was probably important, and if this was her only possible connection to seeing everyone again, she had to handle it with extreme care.

She flinched suddenly, distracted from her own gloomy thoughts by-- a shadow? Had something just moved? Was someone following her? Was she about to be attacked? This wasn't fair! She had enough on her hands fighting a war in her own world, in not even her own time, and now this had to happen when Naga only knew where her friends were and--

"BLOOD AND THUNDER!" For once, the rage boiling through her at the unfairness of it all was welcome. At least now if something did attack, she could shoot it down with no hesitation whatsoever. "INSOLENT CREATURES WHO SEEK MY DESTRUCTION, I'LL STRIKE WITH THE SWIFTNESS AND FEROCITY OF THE BLACKEST CURSE UNTIL THERE'S NOTHING LEFT OF YOU TO REGRET!!"

So much for not being loud.

Previous Game History:
Teru Mikami arrived at the Manor on the 27th of December in an unspecified year and remained resident there for two years and 3 months, without going home even once.

Badfic Manor is a jamjar game set in a single mansion that is, in fact, the setting of a fanfiction. The realm is controlled by the 'Author', who the characters assume to be a teenage fangirl of somehow undefined power. Characters now have to deal with whatever this Author comes up with. Events vary greatly. Fanfiction stereotypes as genderbending and cat ears or AUs get explored, but there is also a variety of horror and survival events.

Upon arrival in a room completely foreign to him, Teru was immediately greeted by two very different people from his own world, who he had yet to meet in his canon timeline. The first being Mihael "Mello" Keehl who promptly used his knowledge about Mikami to try and pretend to be Kira and thereby get his devotion. Since he failed to provide proof, his scheme failed and Mikami has never forgiven him for the attempt, from then on refusing any contact to him no matter how often he left the Manor and returned.
The second person who greeted him was far more relevant for all of his stay at the Manor. It was Light Yagami, the true Kira. He came to Mikami as a member of the Welcome Committee to inform him about the environment he was now in. Their conversation was long and helpful. Mikami now knew he was in a single House controlled by a teenage generally referred to as 'the Author' at whim. The only was to contact her was talking to a speaking bunny, going by the term 'Plot Bunny' and it was generally assumed that the entire house and its happenings were part of a big story. Teru also learned about the concept of different worlds and timeline conflicts.
Finally, the conversation went to morals and when Teru talks about morals and justice he talks about Kira - highly interesting for Light who in fact was Kira after all. This talk and Mikami's understanding of Kira's ideals were the starting point for their later relation that would affect Mikami quite a bit.

In the following time, Teru tried to get used to the Manor while at the same time actively involved himself in the community that was going very strong at that time. He informed himself about the place, let himself be registered in a list of supporting people and began welcoming people as well.
In an event soon after, where he found himself with element bending powers like those in Avatar: The Last Airbender universe, Mikami first found himself confronted with changes made to his body. That was more difficult for him to accept than the new world in general and back then as well as for a lot of similar following events he chose to try and ignore everything about him that had been altered.
Relevant to mention for this time is also that Teru encountered more people from his world who freshly arrived there - FBI agent Naomi Misora with whom he'd have a business alliance and Light's girlfriend Misa Amane with whom he'd develop some sort of vague but friendly relation.
Around this time, Mikami began to suspect Light to be Kira and eventually confronted him on it, after being provoked to it by Light. Ever since learning that Light is his God, Mikami has deeply worshipped him and listened to his every command, though naturally they have kept this God-Believer relation a secret from everyone else.

Another few weeks later, certain events caused Mikami to become fully integrated in the system of detectives and police (a great number of those were present at that time). A serial killing, cased by Beyond "B" Birthday kept them on guard for two weeks. While they carefully investigated each murder, the killer was only caught after over 5 victims.

In the following time, Teru got to know that Misa is the 2nd Kira and therefore appreciated her some more - an awkward friendship-esque thing. Sometime then, he also took care of the Death Note for Light. No killings with it were done, he merely kept the book hidden. Further, he also got to meet Sayu, Light's little sister.

His first of many wildlife survival experiences was being transported to Jurassic Park. Teru never dealt well with being stuck out in the dirt, but he would get used to it over time. In further survival field trips, he would always try to organize the group and keep everyone together. Teru had a tendency to see it as his responsibility to keep everyone safe.

A while later, L arrived at the scene as well. Due to his similarity to the killer B, Mikami was able to recognize the great detective and can now say he's one of the few people who know what L looks like.

In the next months (and basically always), Mikami lived through tons of both crack and survival events, slowly getting used to the Manor. He was still trying to find ways to get out, however, and started keeping lots of detailed notes about the place.

As the Author can sometimes be generous, there was an option for characters to ask for extensions to the Manor. Mikami asked for a courthouse and received one. The tiny court would from then on be where he spent most of his days, despite no trials ever taking place.

In one of the events, he met a boy who would not change his life but at least get rather close to it.
The theme of that week was children. While Mikami had to take care of a child 'of his own' and read it a story, he found himself approached by a young Mukuro Rokudo from Katekyo Hitman Reborn. Mukuro told him how he wanted to make all the 'bad people go away' when he grew up, a thought which Mikami of course could relate to extremely well. Mukuro, as a child, sounded just like his own thoughts just like Kira's ideals. It filled Mikami with anger to know this child grew up in a laboratory as a human weapon.

Ironically, soon after this encounter Light left the Manor, leaving Mikami devastated. In that time of grief, he encountered Mukuro's older self. They had friendly contact as first, until in an event, Teru saw Mukuro kill someone - a scientist belonging to the lab that once held him hostage. The beginning of countless unsatisfying moral discussions, for Mukuro and Mikami technically agreed about the death of certain people, but then came to completely different conclusions from then on. While for Mukuro it seemed suitable to kill with his own hands, Mikami would never accept such direct and personally motivated action. To him there is a major difference between a murder, such as Mukuro is doing, and judgement, such as Kira passes onto people. He feels that Kira is justified in his killings for he does them in a clean, supernatural, even godly way and is, as far as Mikami knows, only driven by the desire to make the world a better place. Mukuro however, while he wanted to erase crime as well, did so partly because he personally wanted revenge. To Teru this made a big difference.

A little bit after Light disappeared, Misa chose to commit suicide, coincidentally before Mikami's eyes. Unlike usually, she did not wake up from the dead again and remained gone, which left Mikami with a lingering feeling of both guilt and disapproval. Guilt because he was unable to save her and disapproval of her action as Mikami felt it was their duty to remain strong for Light after he was gone - not to flee the scene as well.

Within the next months, Light returned to the Manor again, which gave Mikami back a lot of hope. Misa returned as well.
This 'happy reunion' did not stop Mukuro development from continuing however. In another de-aging event, Teru of age 15, a middle school bullying victim coming straight from the funeral of his mother, found himself faced with a very young Mukuro. Teru comforted and supported this child, who was lacking an eyeball. They were a good match. Mikami the protector who needed someone to rely on him and Mukuro who needed to experience protection.
This memory heavily influenced their later interactions. Technically they both recognized this memory of having felt connected as fake, but emotionally it was implanted into their memory completely. Age switch events in the Manor work kind of complicatedly. Afterwards it feels to the characters as though the events have actually happened in their earlier timeline, but at the same time they can remember having lived a life where these memories were never present. With a bit of deduction it is easy for the characters to make out the memories have been added to their lives later on, despite them feeling as real as any event from juniour high or whenever would feel to them. Unable to fully reject the fake memory, Teru and Mukuro felt more conflicted and frustrated about each other than ever.

Shortly after Mikami's one year anniversary at the Manor, Mukuro left. Mikami wanted to feel good to have him out of the way, but he never quite could.
Mukuro returned a few months later however and the two continued their uncertain contact. Eventually they stopped thinking about it too much and it could be said they were in a vague alliance. Mikami would never trust Mukuro, but he acknowledged their relation.
A while after, Mukuro left again and Mikami has buried the memories ever since.

In this following time, Mikami finally began feeling hopeless about the Manor. It had taken time. Teru had been stubborn and always trying to fight in his own way, but finally he now felt he was a plaything to the Author and lost enthusiasm about finding a way out of this hell. In this dark period, he rarely talked to anybody, as most of this significant contacts were already gone either way. Remaining was solely Saguru Hakuba, a detective who he knew from the serial killing back then. They became somewhat reluctant friends over the years.
It took Mikami about half a year to get over this feeling of trapped helplessness. Only slowly he began picking active thinking on his well-kept notes back up and interacted with other people again.

At his two year anniversary, the population of the manner had decreased considerably and Mikami felt like he was one of the last 'puppets' the Author was too fond of to let go. He'd seen lots of people come and go. By now, he's made his peace with that. Mikami never gave up on his wish of returning back home or seeing the Author punished for her evil actions, but he did not feel overly depressed about his situation anymore. Instead he was ready to actively support the community again and to try and figure the Author out once more. And that was when he left the Manor.

His time at Badfic has subtly changed Mikami. Mikami's behaviour to the outside has hardly changed at all - he's as stoic, distanced and down-to-business as he ever was, he merely sounds a little more bitter about the world now.
He still rarely builds friendly, private relations and mostly talks to people out of necessity, but something about the way he sees people changed. Before coming to Badfic, Teru cared for humanity and wanted to protect humanity, but it was more a concept than actual people. Badfic had him trapped with the same people for a very long time, however, so Teru finally learned to see individuals again. Addtionally, Mikami can now more easily appreciate people's talents as he has learned that about anything can become useful under specific circumstances.

His morals have never changed, but shifted ever-so-slightly from what they were like in canon. Mikami could never ever stop seeing the world as separated into black and white, good and bad. He will always categorize people into those still righteous and those who have fallen. The new development is the existence of a tiny grey-zone. Mikami finally acknowledges that people can be practically forced to become 'evil' - it does not change the outcome, unrighteous is unrighteous, but it makes him a little more understanding. Teru himself has yet to completely figure out how he feels about this new perspective so he mostly ignores it and acts by his old rules anyway.
Further than that, he is now more considerate of 'dirty' survival options that he would never have considered before - he is not tolerant of much, but he has figured that in certain situations the number of lives to be saved can be more relevant than keeping minor laws unbroken. Noted should be that such situations would always have to be direct life-or-death, otherwise Mikami would still never do anything less than 100 percent correct.

The way in which his previous in game history has affected him the most will be most apparent in his initial arrival at Haven. Mikami straight from canon would have taken quite a while to adjust to Haven and it wouldn't have gone without a slightly depressive streak. However, seeing he has spent 2 years in the Manor he is now past this period of doubt.
I can't say he's comfortable with new worlds or the paranormal, but he now has ways of dealing with it if he has to.
Of course, this doesn't make him unaffected by events. In the contrary, his canon fears and weaknesses mostly remain. It's just that they are not triggered by a strange setting alone yet.

Personality:
Teru Mikami sees the world in black and white. While for other people personal interests take up the majority of their attention, to Teru there is nothing more imporant than morals. To say he has a strong moral compass would be an understatement. In Mikami's eyes you are either good or bad and his world-view does not allow in-betweens. Once you have broken a law, once you have dirtied your hands with an unrighteous action, once you have harmed another person... you are completely beyond redeem. In his younger years Teru used to believe people could change, but in growing up he has lost this optimism completely. Once a sinner, always a sinner. There is no way to atone for past actions. The only exceptions to this rule is small children, approximately up to the age of ten. Teru is shown to try and correct their behaviour on occassion, but even here he would not be lenient toward misbehaviour for long.
For a law-abiding and order-loving person as Mikami it makes sense that he chose the profession of a prosecutor. To him it is much more than just his work, being a prosecutor is the purpose of his life. Teru practically defines his entire being as his profession. On earth, prosecutors are the ones with the power to bring criminals to justice, to protect society from evil influences. As such he is really dedicated and prioritizes work-related matters over everything - even his schedules, that he usually sticks to neurotically.
Obviously Teru is pro-death penalty. As he thinks criminals cannot be redeemed he also considers them to have lost their place in this world. Anything that is not useful to society or hindering a peaceful cooexistence of people needs to be erased.

It is easy to fall unrighteous in Teru's eyes, but not every unrighteous person is a criminal. There is a slight difference between being directly and indirectly deserving of death. Criminals fall into the first category as they are the ones that can and will be hunted by the law. The second category mostly exists in his mind and labels the people Teru considers inappropriate and who he doesn't want to associate with. Being 'unrighteous' is easy. Slacking off and being a burden to the state is one stronger possibility, but even not helping someone when it is within your range of possibility can make you become 'unrighteous'. When it comes to this, Teru judges harsher the closer someone is to him and the better he knows them. His mother is a prime example. Only telling him to stop being so self-destructive for the sake of others was enough to make Mikami believe she did not share the 'right' mindset. The line between right and wrong is very thin and easy to step over, so Teru turns from most people. While he has no other choice but to tolerate those who aren't perfect society members, he certainly doesn't accept them. This of course makes him very distanced from ordinary humans who could not possibly fit his ideals. It results in Mikami having large difficulties with trust. Teru couldn't open up to a person who's unrighteous and as it is the unrighteos waits behind every corner.

Those who Mikami can't accept have, of course, not done anything to be deserving of a trial, but yet Mikami feels the world would be better off without them. For this as well as for real crimes, there are divine punishments. While he does not have any particular religion to belong to, Mikami still is a religious fanatic. In his childhood it has happened several times that people who he deemed unacceptable died one way or another, which Teru took as a sign that a God of justice existed to pass judgement onto the 'bad ones'. This has only been underpinned by the death of his mother, shortly after he lost trust in her. It was both cold conviction and a way to cope with her passing.
The God of justice came to an actual manifestation many years after Mikami came to believe in him. Kira's murders, the criminals dying by heart attacks, only occured after Mikami had already become a prosecutor. His belief in Kira however started in his childhood.
By adult age, he is a completely fanatic believer of Kira. He feels that the appearance of this God, his God completely valiadates all the things he has believed in all along. To Teru Kira is the hope for a better future, the only one who can save this rotten world. He would do anything for his God. This complete devotion doesn't go without a tiny hint of arrogance though. Because most people Teru encountered in his life didn't share the 'right' mindset, he considers himself more worthy than others and even believes God had watched over him personally.
The confirmation that Kira's appearance gave him also caused him to grow even more extreme in his beliefs. While he wouldn't bring slackers to trials, he is approving of them being killed by Kira so that the building of a new and better society can progress faster. Approval makes Mikami turn from someone with strong views to a complete extremist. While usually, Mikami wouldn't sacrifice innocent people, serving Kira makes him ready to sacrifice even his only friend for the greater good. With God's support and the goal in plain sight he suddenly allows casualties he would have looked upon with disgust in another situation. The lives of all humanity outweigh the life of one innocent here.

But one should make no mistake. Not even Kira's word is final to Mikami. Even 'God' is walking on a very fine line. Should Mikami ever see Kira revealed as a selfish unrighteous person, he would lose his belief in him in a matter of mere moments. Kira is God, Kira is absolute... But only as long as Kira stays the pure and just arbiter Teru sees him as. His belief in God makes him blind to other people's input, but he's not blind when it comes to God himself who he pays more attention to than to anyone else.

As much as Mikami is focused on the 'deleting' of 'bad' people, he is also a selfless protector to those who are innocent. Mikami's protective side is doubtlessly also self-sacrificing. From childhood on he would take all physical abuse intended for other people in an attempt of shielding them. He has no sense of self-worth in this regard and will not retreat no matter what.

Despite his moral views mixing with religious terminology, Mikami is usually a very down-to-earth and logical person. His life is structured in all areas and he relies heavily on order. With this obsession he is far above ordinary levels. Mikami has a schedule for each day that he follows completely unchanging, regardless of holidays or other interruptions. The only thing he prioritizes higher is work. His return from the prosecution office is the only variable component in his every-day life. He's quite neurotic about this and a loss of order would completely throw him off. Even at home, all books in his shelves have the exact same size. Teru is the kind of person to have all his pencils the same length at all times. Further, he even goes as far as separate work and private life by colors of clothes subconsciously - green-ish tones are for office hours and purple is for free-time.
To go with this compulsive behaviour, he also feels a strong need for cleanliness. It's as if actual sterility was a physical symbol for the dirt-less word he desires in the metaphorical sense. It's not far fetched to say that this is a neurosis as well, as it was even specifically pointed out when he was under surveillance. Likely enough this is partly has its origins in all of his childhood trauma. By keeping his body and surroundings clean he washes off all the bad that the bullies left on him both physically as in dirt and emotionally as in being looked down upon, having people disgusted with him etc.

While these traits don't make Mikami inadept for social life, private interactions with others are scarce. Mikami doesn't actually have much of a private life at all. His free time is mostly used for doing more work and work-related research. Aside from going to the gym to keep healthy, he doesn't seem to have anything close to a hobby. Neither does he appear to have many friends. His sole mentioned friend is a lady called Kiyomi Takada with whom he meets to discuss Kira. He only connects to people intellectually, emotionally he is closed off. He's not interested in friendships, just in an exchange of thoughts. If he's lonely, he himself fails to realize it.

Mikami comes across as polite and smooth, but not exactly interesting. When he isn't talking about morals, he only says what is necessary and while he's never rude, he clearly shows no interest in more conversation than needed. When he is talking about morals, he seems much more focused and a bit of passion shows behind his determined speeches.
Teru rarely smiles and next to never laughs - except maybe when something good directly involving God happens.
He loses his polite ways only when talking to criminals. Then, while he still speaks eloquently, he gets directly insulting. They are the scum of society to him and he makes them feel it in an only slightly unprofessional way. (This applies to private situations, at work he remains mostly neutral as expected of him.)

Abilities/Powers: Teru Mikami is a completely ordinary human. There is nothing about him that would strike an average earthling as unusual, neither in looks nor in powers. To be said about him is that he is intelligent. Not to the level of 'extraordinary genius' that is so common in his canon, but at least slightly above the ordinary.
Physically, he is strong but not a trained fighter. Mikami keeps his body healthy and trains so he is able to defend himself and others, but he does not have abilities in any specific kind of martial arts.
During his time in Badfic Manor he bettered his skills at shooting guns considerably though. He also got a general impression of wildlife survival strategies, but he's not an expect and relying on him is not recommend unless there are no other sources available.

Items/Weapons: Mikami will arrive with a simple gun, a pair of replacement glasses and a Blackberry phone, which will no longer function and refuse to be even turned on.

Sample Entry:
[Voice]

[ Judging by the way he's speaking, on could falsely assume Mikami was not nervous. He talks professionally, without any hesitation in his wording. His serious tone is that of someone who is used to speaking to public. ]

Please excuse the sudden interruption. My name is Teru Mikami and I am a new arrival. I suppose none of you have ever made contact with a being who calls herself 'the Author', is that correct? In the unlikely event that there is anybody here who has once been a resident of her Manor, I'd like to have a talk.

[ For a split second he trails off, but then with a clearing of his throat he's right back to his serious announcement. ]

If there is a law enforment or anything similar here, then I would also like to get in touch with one of those involved.
Other than that, I require information of this place. If you could help me out with any knowledge that appears crucial to you, I would truly appreciate it. Aside from the general circumstances, I am wondering about the lack of text specifically.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sample Entry Two:
It was dark when Mikami woke up, but even so he noticed that the room was unfamiliar. It wasn't an unusual occurence with the Author, but each time it happened Mikami felt his stomache twist a little at the unexpected change. For a minute he just layed breathing, then he was ready to start his day and figure out where they had ended up this time. In sitting up another surprise awaited him. Usually romming arrangements stayed as they were, even when they were sent off to a field trip. In this room, however, there were five more beds. The feeling of being uncomfortable with sharing a room faded back behind a wave of wariness regarding this new situation. Mikami flung his legs off the bed and stood up, careful not to make any noise. He didn't know the location of the light switch in this place, but he didn't need it either to see that the other sleepers were foreigners to him.
His thoughts started racing. All of this was out of pattern, completely unlike the behaviour he had studied so well in the past years. Fumbling he reached for his blackberry to make a text post asking for further information. He did not doubt that Hakuba or maybe some others were up early, investigating this matter as well. As he tried to switch it on, nothing happened. The man tried again, but after a moment he had to acknlowdge the phone was broken. Mikami paused. This was not just off-throwing but downright alarming.

He decided to leave the room for now, so he wouldn't have to deal with the remaining sleepers and could get a better overview on things. Making an effort to stay silent he moved out into a run-down kitchen. The apocalyptic flair had something dirty to it that made Mikami want to take a shower immediately. This silent way of altering things was new. This wasn't like the Author at all. Teru brushed a bit of air out of his face and thought. As it was, he likely had to wait for the other sleepers to wake up and hope they knew some more. Going out into the foreign city on his own when his blackberry was not working was way too dangerous. He considered sitting down as he waited, but the chair neither seemed clean nor stable. Absentmindedly he took something that looked like a recipe book out of the shelf but he only found blank pages inside. Almost a bit too fast he put the book back. Mikami really wanted a cup of coffee now to help process everything, but that'd have to be delayed until he knew he could trust this kitchen's contents.

Personality:

"Sora, you lazy bum. I knew that I'd find you snoozing down here."

An important prelude to understanding Kairi's personality is her standing as a Princes of Heart. This doesn't mean she's an actual princess, no— rather, it means Kairi has a heart completely devoid of darkness. She is pure light. Seeing as, including her, there are only seven known princesses of light, it is a rare trait to have indeed.

Kairi is a lot more than just pure, though. In the first game, she's presented as Sora's spunky and sassy best friend. She uses depreciating terms of endearment to address Sora, like 'lazy bum'. Everyone knows she means it in jest, of course. It also is quite obvious that Sora, as well as her other best friend, Riku, harbors special protective feelings about her. They even compete on who has the right to her attention. She is a bright, intelligent young girl who inspires a need to safeguard that pureness that naturally radiates from her.

"Maybe... You know, I was a little afraid at first, but now I'm ready. No matter where I go or what I see, I know I can always come back here. Right?"

Kairi displays the same sense of wanderlust that Sora and Riku possess. She, like her friends, desires to see what other worlds lie out there— she and her two friends work on building a raft so that they might experience those worlds. Her wanderlust is a much duller one, though; it's more inspired from Riku and Sora's. To her, home will always be with her best friends. She's also quite sentimental. Due to a superstition surrounding the good luck they bring, she makes a charm made out of unique Thalassa shells to ensure that they have a safe trip. Later in the game, after being rescued by Sora, she gives it to him so the rest of his journey will be a safe one, claiming that it's her 'lucky charm'. The feelings she poured into the charm definitely shine through, as this, mixed with Sora's fond memories of Kairi, makes a new keyblade called the 'oathkeeper'.

She, above everything else, presents the capacity to be herself and love. Early in Kingdom Hearts, she informs Sora that Riku has 'changed'. She then urges Sora to never change himself. She is always honest and forward with her feelings and emotions. She will even sass those clearly stronger than her — this is evident in Kingdom Hearts II, when she openly struggles against an antagonistic Axel, despite the fact that he has many nobodies on his side. She's a girl with a lot of willpower and gall, who actively pursues what she wants — even if it means she has to run through a portal of darkness, in hopes she will once again meet with her two best friends. Coupled with this is a special perception she possesses regarding her two friends. In Kingdom Hearts, she knows immediately that a random heartless is Sora, and in Kingdom Hearts II, she quickly discovers that the person trapped within Ansem's body, the man who terrorized her, Sora, and Riku a year prior, is Riku.

"Maybe... waiting isn't good enough."

Restless and unhappy with the fact she's mostly unable to help with the battle, Kairi seeks to prove her worth however possible. Whether that mean shielding a Sora in heartless form from an ambush in the first game, or taking a keyblade to fend heartless off alongside Riku in the second — she's truly a brave girl that would do anything for her friends.

Between Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II, Kairi returns to a normal life on Destiny Islands, her memories of Sora slowly fading because of Naminé's meddling with Sora's memories. Still, she is the only one who is able to at least faintly remember another boy who played alongside her and Riku on the islands. When she asks her friend Selphie if she remembers the boy, she replies that she only remembers Riku. During this time, it's shown that Kairi has definitely matured a lot into a smart young woman. She's a lot quieter, and more thoughtful, possibly due to the time she spent alone.

However, this doesn't mean she is a completely level-headed person. No, she can make hasty decisions, as she is still a 15 year old girl. She acts by her emotions often, and when it comes to Sora or Riku, she'd charge headfirst into hell, or, more aptly, into a portal to another world.

Kairi maintains a charisma that naturally attracts people to her, possibly because of her pure heart. She easily makes friends with people and is a very popular girl on Destiny Islands. When she tumbles in from a portal of darkness to Twilight Town, she quickly hits it off with Hayner, Pence, and Olette, three Twilight Town natives. Kairi is charming, like Sora, but better with words and more diplomatic. Where Sora is forceful, Kairi is more gentle and adaptive to social situations.

"You're home."

At the end of the day, Kairi is a normal girl with normal desires, and only wants to happily be with her friends. Optimistic and bright, she has a unique simplicity to her that is untainted and free from darkness, and she will stubbornly and courageously act on her own volition to keep it that way. From Kairi, we can learn the value of friendship, kindness, and pursuing what one truly wants — no matter who tries to stop us.

Abilities/Powers: Kairi is a Princess of Heart, which is a term that, even in canon, is rather ambiguous in meaning. Basically, it means that her heart is completely light; she has no darkness clouding it. This gives her a few unique attributes no one else in canon has, such as:
❥ an inability to turn into a heartless. Instead, she will be in a comalike state if she loses her heart.
❥ the ability to unlock the final keyhole when gathered with the rest of the princesses of heart.
❥ the ability to sense darkness when it is nearby. This appears to be an empathic ability, as in Destiny Islands, she is shown looking ill when Sora finds her.
❥ the ability to give her heart to another, which she does to Sora to save him from the darkness in the beginning of Kingdom Hearts.

Along with this, because of her interaction with Aqua in her childhood, she has the ability to wield a keyblade, but does not have one of her own yet.

Sample Entry: one & two.
Sample Entry Two:

She did always ask to be brought on their adventures, didn't she? She had never had anything like this in mind, though.. She knew Riku and Sora had went through treacherous things, but she's almost positive they never had to scavenge for water or food. No, this wasn't another world, but rather hell. An inescapable hell that Kairi had somehow found herself trapped in.

She tried not to use up resources unless it was totally necessary. Right now, she was definitely leaning to 'parched'. It had only been around 8 hours since her last drink, but here, it seemed as if you wanted to guzzle down any clean liquid you could come across, just in case. Kairi exited her room into the dilapidated hallway. "I wonder if Sora needs any.." She wondered aloud to herself. The only person who would sacrifice resources for others more than herself was probably Sora. He actually did it to almost stupid levels. Her face creaked into a half-smile. "It couldn't hurt to bring him a cup. Just in case." She'd force him to drink it if need be.

It had been a while since she'd checked in on him, anyway. She had to mother him here, or else some things would just never get done. He'd never wash his clothes, get enough sleep, or even eat enough. Kairi thought out her entire 'Sora To-Do List' as she hopped down the stairs to the lobby. Sometimes, here in the lobby, people kept cups of water so the others wouldn't have to walk all the way to the well. The water had a tendency to get a bit stagnant, but it was still drinkable. There were two such cups available, sitting on a chipped coffee table. Kairi decided she would take these. "I hope someone wasn't saving them.." She poked around the lobby for a moment, just to make sure said person hadn't gone to the bathroom or something, then headed back up the stairs. "We'll survive this." She's not sure where this thought came from, but she blurted it out either way. "We've survived worse. And now — we're together. Me, Sora, and Riku. We were always together." She smiled to herself as she reached the floor in question, opening the door to Sora's room.

Background/History:

There are many people in the world who believe that humanity is alone in the world. As one might have guessed, they are wrong. However, they are only partially wrong. Creatures like werewolves and vampires were human at one point. Just like many species, these “freaks of nature” are genetic mutations that have occurred throughout humanity's existence. While there are plenty more of these mutants to speak of, vampires and werewolves are the most “popular.”

So, why is humanity partially right then in thinking they are alone in the world? It's because the scariest things that go 'thump' in the night aren't actually from this world. The world that they do come from is called many things across many different cultures. Some religious groups call it “Hell.” The closest name to being accurate would be the Japanese lore of the Makai – the Demon World.

This world is connected to humanity's at several different points. Though, as one can imagine, it isn't exactly easy to find let alone pass through these points. Only those with an aptitude for the supernatural ( shamans, 'witches,' etc. ) are able to even think about tapping into the other world. It takes a lot of skill and determination to travel to the Makai. In fact, it usually requires the work of more than one person.

What of the demons? Don't they also try to cross the barriers that separate them and the human world? The answer, simply, is no. The Demon World is a primitive place. Things like electricity and running water that humans take for granted are reserved only for the most powerful demon lords. Many live off the land, hunting and gathering for food. However, most demons are content this way. It is survival of the fittest and has been for centuries. Hunting prey and killing those that are weaker is in demon blood, it is at their very core of who they are. They do not think of humanity or their world as being luxurious. Part of the reason why is because because most demons see themselves as superior to humans. Most demons are warriors with superhuman strengths and agility. Humans do not even provide them a challenge. In fact, humans that venture to the Demon World are usually either enslaved or slaughtered before they get a chance to do much else.

That is why humanity shifted from trying to get to the Demon World to instead bringing demons to them. By performing rituals, humans discovered that they could summon forth demons and enslave them with the proper incantations. It wasn't an easy task but after enough trial and error, a group of wealthy men in Japan became rather proficient at summoning otherworldly creatures. They would capture these demons and pit them against each other for their own entertainment.

This is where Rosalina's story begins. She was born of the Northern Ookami– or Wolf-- Clan of the Makai. It was a highly feared and respected pack. The freezing conditions and harsh environment they lived in molded the best warriors that side of the Demon World. Rosalina was child of the beta, the second in command of the pack, and his lovely mate. It was joyous, splendid occasion and the alpha himself initiated the newborn into the pack as was custom. She was their first child and all their hopes rested with her. Little did they realize just how much she would shatter their world.

It was subtle at first. There were little things that were... off about their daughter. Rosalina showed no aptitude for fighting. Being a girl meant nothing when it came to being a warrior. In fact, the beta's mate was one of the fiercest women in the pack. Still, Rosalina didn't seem to be particularly good at battle... or really all that interested in it. Instead, she wanted learn how to read and write. She wanted to explore. There were so many things she found wonder and joy in. “It's just a phase,” the elders told her parents. Though they said that it did not appear to be true as she continued to grow and only become odder and odder amongst those in the pack.

It was her first trip to the market that ruined everything. Hand-in-hand with her mother, she “ooo”ed and “aaahh”ed at everything there was to see. Merchants were selling delicious looking fruits and vegetables. There were gleaming bobbles and fascinating things everywhere! Rosalina found a hard time keeping her hands steady though “tsks” from her mother kept her ( mostly ) in line. While distracted, the mischievous little wolf scampered off. It didn't take her long to find the slave market... and a human.

He was a male, probably in his 20s, with dusty brown hair and dark, dead eyes and completely nude except for the chains around his wrists, ankles, and neck. He looked to the tiny girl with disinterest. Rosalina, however, was wide-eyed and fascinated with him. Where was his tail and ears? Why was he so squishy looking? He looked so... different.

“Rosalina, you rotten little girl!” her mother's voice called.
“Eep!” the girl squeaked, running behind the man to hide. He looked down at the sudden contact of her claws against his bare skin.
“You get away from him right this instant, young lady or I'll--”

There was a pause. It was only then that Rosalina's mother realized that there was a human in front her. He was a slave for sale, by the looks of it, but there was something unique about him. He didn't flinch as she drew in close, inspecting him. There was no fear in his eyes. He was smart. By showing no fear, he may just survive the Demon World yet. The alpha had mentioned wanting someone to help him with his duties... That trip to the market ended with Rosalina's mother getting everything she needed plus one human.

The human slave—Taylor, he was named-- became the personal servant of the alpha. It was much better than anything he had hoped for and so there were no complaints on his part. It didn't take long for Rosalina to befriend him either. Though the alpha would try and shoo her away, she was the daughter of a good friend and had amazingly impressive puppy eyes. Rosalina loved talking to Taylor. He taught her English. Well, more like, he only spoke English so she learned to be able to communicate with him. He told her stories of the human world. He lived in a place called Texas where it was much warmer than here and there was lots of open space. The more she spoke with him the more fascinated she became. Years passed and she had come to love the idea of humanity, of being human.

It was her mother she spoke about it with first. “Why do we think less of humans?” was her opening question. Her mother tried to explain that it was because they were lesser beings. It devolved into an argument. The fight grew heated, loud, and accusations were tossed around. “Maybe if I'd like fighting more, but I don't-” or “I should have never bought that slave, he's been nothing but trouble!” Eventually it reached a boiling point and led to Rosalina screaming “Maybe I was meant to be human!” The look on her mother's face is something she'll never forget to this day.

It was a few weeks later her mother was found dead. Suicide. She'd slit her own throat. The crimson stained against the white snow is another thing that still haunts her. By then, she was the equivalent to a teenager. Her mother's death made her numb. So numb, in fact, that when Taylor was torn apart by her pack right in front of her eyes she didn't even bat an eye. Her father took it the hardest. Wolves mate for life, after all. Her mother was his first, and only, true love. He grew bitter, cold, and couldn't even look at his daugther. Rosalina had a suspicion that he blamed her. It wasn't until he tried to murder her that she found out she was right.

It was under the guise of an “outing.” Something to take their mind off all that happened and to move on from it. They went down South a ways, where Spring was instead of their eternal Winter up North. Rose was sitting next to a riverbed when he struck. With a frightening force, he twisted her arm against her back and used his other hand to hold her head down underwater. She tried with her own free hand to pry his off but he was too strong. Her lungs burned as water began to fill them instead of air. She remembers screaming but no one could hear her. She thought she was going to die there. Suddenly, her father's weight was gone. Rosalina lifted her head, sputtering water as she coughed. Once her vision cleared, she saw the alpha wrestling her father to the ground. He screamed at her to run. There was a moment of hesitation before she did as her alpha commanded and fled. It was the last time she saw any of her pack.

For years, Rosalina wandered the Makai as a lone wolf. The young woman her way by stealing and hunting any food she could find. She grew into a beautiful, strong ookami though that actually wasn't in her favor. Being a lone wolf gathered unwanted attention. It was one day, when she was the human equivalent of eighteen years old, that she was approached by a cloaked man in a tavern. He was a smooth talker, telling her how “lovely” she was and how rare it was to see a wolf from the Northern clans alone. Rosalina tried to lose him, but then he made her an offer. An offer to see the human world. Against all better judgment, she jumped at this chance.

It was a trap. As soon as they crossed worlds, she was surrounded by humans and thrown in a dungeon. The shackles that bound her were embedded with magic. Even with her strength, she couldn't break free. If she did, there plenty of guards that were also magically inclined to stop her. Rosalina was quick to learn that she wasn't the only demon to be ensnared by these humans... and that she certainly wouldn't be the last. It was a fighting ring. These wealthy men had made a “game” out of capturing demons like her and pitting them against each other in combat. They bet on who would win and of course each of them had their champions. By sheer will and determination to live, Rose became her “master's” champion within a couple of years. Essentially, she was a trained killing machine.

During her time in the fighting ring, she grew close to the man in the cell next to her. His name was Luke Johnson. He taught her Japanese and how to keep herself alive even longer in this fighting ring. He had apparently been there years already. He was also a werewolf. “I was stupid,” he told her. Apparently he had been caught by wanting a little extra money. They'd offered and he'd accepted not realizing entirely what the agreement entailed. So, here he was, rotting away in a cage and fighting just to stay alive. He liked to sing to calm himself down before and after fight... and so did Rosalina. She discovered a love for music in that dank dungeon and they'd often sing to each to each other.

Their relationship was deeper than love. They helped each other heal emotionally, physically, and mentally after fights. They were closer than any two people ever had been, she imagined. They knew everything about each other and touched each other in in ways they both never knew was possible. It was why, when her “master” got bored with her as champion and planned to slaughter her, Luke made the ultimate sacrifice. It was about two in the morning when it happened. Luke had allowed himself to get angry enough to force a transformation from human to werewolf. It was painful for him and painful for Rosalina to watch. Bones snapped and shifted into different places and she screamed for him to stop. He burst open his cage and promptly broke Rosalina out as well.

He gave her directions to a friend, a witch, and someone who could help her... and that was all he told her. Blood splattered against her face and body as Luke's head rolled to the floor. Everything goes black after that and she remembers someone screaming. She thinks it was her. When she awoke, she was covered in blood and in a strange bed. “Ah, you're awake,” a woman's voice said calmly as Rosalina rose out of bed. “I tried to change your clothes but you growled at me in your sleep if I tried to touch you.”
“Where-?”
“Luke sent you here as his final act of defiance. See for yourself why. Bathroom is down the hall and to the left if you want to clean up.”

Rosalina was sore. She also felt... disgusting. Caked blood hung to her body and made her feel heavy both physically and with metaphorically with sin. She entered the bathroom, washed up, and once she took the time to actually see it gasped audibly at her reflection in the mirror. Blond hair replaced white. Ears on the side of her head replaced those that had been atop her skull before. Her eyes were brown, not golden and her tail was all but missing she realized.

She stormed towards the strange old woman who answered her before she could get a word out. “This is what Luke wanted. He managed to contact me before...” her voice trailed off and she shook her head. “He knew it's what you wanted. I only hope you use the gift wisely. It's not a permanent spell, of course. It wanes on the full moons and if you put yourself under too much stress you'll change back to your 'regular' self until you calm down.” By now, Rosalina had deflated. The only things she could get out were a small, apologetic “thank you” and a question about where she was.

Okinawa, Japan. Her “master's” base of operations had been nearby. It turns out, as the woman told her, that she had killed him. Her relief was short-lived though. Apparently, the man's son had found out just a couple of days ago about her father's death. Based on surveillance information he now knew she was murderer. Even though she looked different now, her basic features were the same. They would find her if she wasn't careful. “I've kept you safe as long as I can but, dear, you need to go and soon. They're not far. I'll give you my knowledge of the spell you're under, some supplies to get you through, and... a gift from Luke.”

The gift was an acoustic guitar, case and all. The witch taught her the spell that kept her appearing human. It wasn't difficult but she needed to recite it constantly mentally to keep the illusion up. With a brief farwell for the witch that saved her life, Rosalina fled. To where? Even she didn't know. She did, however, quickly find out that being a “roadie” was a great way to travel. By following bands, she got to elude her pursuers and learn how to play the guitar, improve her musical skills, and pick up a little bit of dancing as well. She was a natural, apparently, and quickly fell in love with American Pop music, J-Pop, and all those uplifting beats. It was her way of remembering Luke and preserving his memory. She sang for him, for her mother, and made sure to keep on moving and stay alive for the both of them.

Rosalina started going simply by Rose. She adopted a “Japanese” last name—Nurumi-- to blend in. So far, she's kept safe and on the down low but how long that will actually last is to be determined.

Personality: Rose is a complete contradiction. Most would believe that her life should have left her a much more cynical and bitter person. However, she's anything but. In fact, Rose is probably one of the nicest, kindest, sweetest people you'll ever meet. She's also the epitome of a free spirit. This girl goes where the music takes her and enjoys every second of it. Other than her guitar, she really isn't attached to any worldly or material items. If she wants to pick up and leave, she will... and does on a regular basis. Though it's actually a matter of life and death, she likes to think of it all as one big thrilling adventure.

A metaphorical ray of sunshine, this girl always has a smile on her face and a song in her heart. Bubbly doesn't even begin to accurately describe the amount of joy this girl seems to radiate. It can be a little overwhelming, actually, but is also rather endearing. It's a quality that not many people seem to have anymore. Nothing ever seems to really get under her skin or bring her down either. Bad things happen, sure, but she tries to focus on the good in life and in everyone around her. It keeps her upbeat and content with how things are.

Have you ever had that friend that's always happy to do something for you, no matter how big or small it is? Yeah, that's Rose. She tends to put others before herself. In fact, she enjoys putting others before herself. Her happiness is lifting people up. So, if you're having a bad day or just in a gloomy mood expect this blond to try and turn that frown upside-down. She may also start to sing to you if you're not careful.

Sometimes though even Rose wonders why she's this way. Like mentioned before, she really shouldn't be. Her past is dark and dreary. Her life is a constant proverbial game of cat and mouse. Everything could go wrong at any given moment. Sometimes, though, when she sits down and thinks about it... she realizes it's the first time in her life she's ever been truly free. There are no expectations of her as the daughter of the beta. There are no restrictions or limitations put on her like in the Makai. She isn't human but she appears to be so and is surrounded by people who believe so and enjoy her. It's the first time she's ever felt truly at peace.

Underneath it all though, Rose is terrified. If she isn't careful, the people she's surrounded herself could find out her dirty little secret. While they're understanding about things like missing an important date or bailing on plans that's on a whole different level than finding out your friend is a monster. And that's what she believes she is: a monster. She's a wolf in sheep's clothing, pretending to be a human when she could actually break them in a blink of an eye. If anyone found out... they'd hate her. They'd try to kill her, just like her father.

Being caught is also another constant fear. There's been a few close calls, definitely, but she's always managed to get herself out in the nick of time. Though she can't say the same for people who call her friends. Some of them have lost their lives or been caught up in her past unintentionally. It's why, nowadays, she doesn't actually consider anyone a friend. She doesn't let anyone get close enough to. She's nice enough, sure, but if you ask those who know her... they really don't know her past her happy demeanor.

On top of it all, she also suffers from mild PTSD from her father and her days in the fighting ring. Being too close to water gives her panic attack. If she's ever pushed into water or forced into it, she quickly loses consciousness. Sneaking up on her is also unadvised. Because of her days as a trained killing machine, she will retaliate and violently if someone attacks her—even if they didn't intend it, she may interpret it that way and then everything goes wrong. It's caused her to have to relocate more than a couple of times. There's also the nightmares. Horribly vivid nightmares that haunt her on a regular basis. Make-up and being a good liar has helped her cover up her troubles sleeping though. It's not like she needs as much as as humans do anyway.

Despite all this, the woman puts up one helluva front. Her fears are carefully kept under wraps; they're hidden behind a consistent smile and happy-go-lucky attitude.

Abilities/Powers: -Superhuman strength. Though she appears “petite” demon strength often defies appearances. She's about as strong as three adult human men combined.
-Super speed and agility. She can jump approximately fifty yards but that is the farthest. At her fastest, she can appear as a blur to the human eye.
- Small control over ice. Being an ookami from the Northern Clan of the Makai and living in a harsh, frigid environment they all have some ability to manipulate ice. It's very small and is about the equivalent of using an ice pack. She can freeze things if she really concentrates but it's still difficult for her.

Items/Weapons: (1) One Acoustic Guitar

Sample Entry: Huh? This isn't my phone.

[Rose turns the phone over in her hands, eying it skeptically. Had someone forgotten it at the show last night and left it here? … Wherever here was. That was a matter for another time. She presses a few buttons, intending to make a call to the phone's service provider. It doesn't ring but she hears a soft click of connection and proceeds to talk.]

Yes, hello! Uh, my name is Rosalina Nurumi and I just wanted to know what company this phone was with. If you could even give me the name of the person it's supposed to belong to, that would be great! I found it this morning and, er, it's not mine... so I'd like to return it if that's possible. [She pauses and receives nothing but silence.]

Hello? [She pulls it away from her ear and frowns as her brows furrow in confusion.] Huh. Maybe there isn't good service here? I don't see any towers, but... hrmph.

Sample Entry Two: A loud click and the creak of the large metal door at the end of the hall woke all of us. Heavy footsteps followed suite causing everyone to hold their breath. The faint sounds of anxious shuffling and chains clinking against concrete was all that reached her ears. Clomp, clomp, clomp. Louder and louder grew those footsteps until they stopped directly in front of her cage. She could feel the fear silently flooding out of everyone and relief mixed with joy replacing it. It wasn't them summoned. No, it was Rosalina.

Somewhere in-between the collective fear and relief, she felt Luke's hand intertwine with hers from the cage over. His eyes were on her, she knew, but she couldn't bring herself to look at him. If she did, it would just make things that much harder. They both knew that. The conflicting feeling of the cold metal bars of the linked cages on her knuckles and his warmer than average skin in her palm caused her to shudder. The guard's dark stare felt like it was boring a hole right through her. "You're up, mutt," he said gruffly. His large fingers dangled a ring of keys teasingly. He had the power here, not she. Rubbing that fact in her face, even so subtly, gave him such great satisfaction that it was sickening.

Quietly, the cell door was opened and the shackles around Rose's legs removed. Out of habit, her free hand went to her now loose ankles and rubbed them gingerly. Everything ached so moving was a chore but she'd have to get over that soon. The guard stood there impatiently while she collected herself. A fight needed the right mentality and establishing it was sometimes difficult even for a veteran like her. One would think after four years in this Hell, she'd be used to it by now. She didn't think, no matter what the old ones say, someone ever gets used to this.
When he decided she was taking too long, his hand grabbed the length of her arm roughly. She was hoisted to her feet and her fingers were harshly ripped from Luke's. His sapphire eyes narrowed dangerously and his nostrils flared in anger. A guttural growl was added as she was dragged further and further away from him. In a voice so quiet and hoarse she almost couldn't believe was hers, she said "Temper, temper," with a small smile. See, Luke losing his temper wasn't a good thing. He was a werewolf. If he got too roused up he would go through a rage-induced transformation and that was never pleasant for anyone. It was painful for him and painful for Rose to watch. Then it caused a commotion and guards would have to come and sedate him which they did as harshly as possible to teach us all a lesson. Be quiet, be obedient, and you'll be fine.

Her tiny words seemed to calm Luke instantly. Sadness took the place of his rage and she watched him slump against the bars of his cell. He felt helpless when he couldn't protect her. It was the same for her whenever he was taken for a fight. She thought that we all felt a little helpless when someone was dragged out though. At least she didn't make any fuss. Too many newcomers screamed and pleaded and it hurt everyone because it just reminded the veterans how hopeless their situation is.

As she walked along with the guard keeping a firm hold on her, she caught a glimpse of her reflection in a old, broken mirror tossed aside in a corner like trash. Like them. Even in the dim light, she could make out every detail of herself. Her once glossy silver hair, ears, and tail were a grimy beige color. Former golden and bright eyes looked dull and dead. The claws on the end of her fingers were long and untamed. The rest of her humanoid body and features were sunken in and bruised. She could see most, if not all, of her ribcage. She wished that woman wasn't her but she long since stopped trying to deny it. She was once a proud wolf demon. Now she was nothing more than a dog whipped into obedience by human masters to fight for their twisted entertainment.

It wasn't long before she was dragged to those large metal double doors. "Your orders are to make it interesting. The master has bet on you winning like usual but give the others a little hope. Win, but not too easily since you're the underdog-" A chuckle stopped him, briefly, because how clever. A pun about how she's a canine demon. Like she hadn't heard it a million times before. "in this fight. Give them a show they'll talk about for weeks. Got it?" She said nothing, only stared ahead with a stony expression and gave a stiff nod.

"Good," was the last word he uttered before the deafening rumbling started. It was like an earthquake as the mechanically driven doors ever so gradually opened. She could feel the vibrations all through her body and it distracted her from my surroundings. That was mistake. A shove jump-started her instincts as she was thrown into the blinding arena. Spotlights glared down on me from every direction and it took her eyes longer than she would have liked to adjust. Spots of color began forming in her vision but she was already running into combat. Rose could feel the heavy breathing of her opponent and knew it was much larger than her. Every second was the difference between life and death and she couldn't afford to waste time.

That's how simple it is during a fight. You live or you die. Only, in her case, she didn't have an option. She had to live.
