APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. Ganymede | Olympos | Not Reserved

[personal profile] cynicisms 2013-06-02 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Name: coffee
Contact Info: PM; brewmegently @ plurk, AIM
Other Characters Played: n/a
Preferred Apartment: n/a

Character Name: Ganymede (Prince of Troy)
Canon: Olympos
Canon Point: End of Series
Background/History: My written history.

Previous Game History: n/a

Personality: Above all else, Ganymede is resilient - a young man who has suffered immeasurably and been mocked at all stages of it, he has not lost his will to live and understand the world around him. While many others in his situation would have lost the will to function completely, Ganymede has soldiered on through everything and fought to keep a clear sense of self.

While Ganymede was born quite a pleasant person - sweet, charismatic, loving, if still a little spoilt - his life experiences have changed him to some extent. Years of pain, unending boredom, and constant mockery for every (unsuccessful) move he's made to protect or comfort himself has taken its toll on the good parts of his personality. He's developed something of a hard shell - critical, snappy, stubborn, and apathetic, he lashes out at people when they bother him in the slightest. It's a defense mechanism, he's spent so long being picked on and teased and struggling to survive throughout it that he's taken to lashing out in return almost as an instinctive self-protective response. It doesn't help that he's also quite haughty, having been raised a prince before becoming the immortal pawn of the gods. He has a virtually unending well of pride, and this usually negative personality trait has been one of the few things that has sustained him, the strong core that's allowed him to maintain a powerful sense of self through hundreds of thousands of years of constant boredom, fruitless struggling, and the despair of hoping, failing, and being made fun of for it.

Ganymede has a nasty temper, though, and it often unleashes itself violently. His first instinct is never to cave in or acquiesce to the demands of other people, and he while his pride helps him resist despair and depression, he naturally reacts to anything that threatens his comfortable apathy with anger and aggression rather than depression, despair, or hope. He shouts and calls people names and threatens before ever choosing to do as asked, and while things people say to him do tend to stick in his mind, he doesn't allow them to drag him down too far. While he takes things that others say, no matter how cruel, to heart, he makes efforts to understand them and take what he, personally, wants from them rather than allowing others to make him value himself less or hurt him too deeply - everything that's happened that hurt him the most are things that he considers failings on his part. He judges himself, and he won't tolerate others trying to do that for him, or telling him how he should perceive himself.

However, despite his tough, snarky, and haughty exterior, he is very affected by the things that have happened to him. He spent a long time consumed by grief and desperation, and while he maintains that to hope is to invite madness, he is still capable of it despite the risks involved. He is also deeply sensitive, afraid to open up, trust, or allow himself to have hope because his hope has always been dashed. It says a lot about his capacity to bounce back that he was able to attempt to trust Heinz and have some hope when he appeared despite centuries of being mocked for trying to get out. Still, Ganymede's sadness runs very deep - he's seen his brother be killed, knows his family and their descendents are long dead, and knows that even the capital city his father built is something that can now be excavated from under the dirt - he's lost everything he has ever cared about or loved, and is incredibly emotionally damaged because of it. This leaves him with a great deal of trouble when it comes to forming bonds with other people - both too vulnerable and too prickly to form relationships easily - but he is capable of becoming fond of people and doesn't shy away from asking about them, interested in spite of himself because it's been so long since he's met anyone new.

Finally, Ganymede is quite intelligent and clever. He's capable of understanding things beyond a level that other human characters in the manga seem to be able to, grasping the nature of the gods and even becoming capable of working out their ulterior motives. Inquisitive, he's always keeping himself occupied by trying to learn new things, a skill honed through centuries of living in what is essentially a giant riddle. He's able to verbally spar with, surprise, and amuse the gods that visit him despite the fact that they've seen everything and know close to everything, and he does it without meaning to. He catches on to things, learns quickly, puts together the ends of broken or obscure concepts so he can understand the bigger, sketchy picture. Above all else, he is capable of adaptation and while adapting has learned many, many things about himself and the world he inhabits - and his many centuries of life have left him very wise, in a way.

Altogether, Ganymede is a complex person - vulnerable and wounded but still powerfully strong, adaptable and guided by an unfailing inquisitive intelligence that allows him to find his way through complicated situations, able to endure indignities and situations that would drive most men insane while still maintaining his pride.

Abilities/Powers: Ganymede is immortal of the variety that dies and then wakes up shortly afterward. He is also capable of regeneration, being shown to cut his arm off in canon and have it regrow in the form of fluttering flowers to solidity within a few minutes. He still feels the full amount of pain associated with his injuries, but has developed a high tolerance to it. He is never shown needing to eat or drink in canon, but he does sleep. He doesn't age.
Items/Weapons: All Ganymede has on him is his clothing, his jewelry, and the shortsword given to him by his older brother.
Sample Entry: A thread with Apollo at Holly Heights.
Sample Entry Two:

In the blink of an eye, the world changed.

It didn't come to an end, it didn't fall apart around him, it wasn't as complicated as bait and hook and everything going to pieces in the blink of Zeus' suddenly-seeing eyes, little more than an amusement for bored immortals. It was much simpler than that. Just a blink, and then he was gone.

One minute, standing in the garden thinking about his most recent conversations with Hades and Apollo, still trying to reconcile his own greed and grasping at life and reason - the next minute his eyes were opening, his lips parting, waking from sleep, from a nightmare of a place where the stars always shone and flowers coated the ground, gasping for breath. For a long moment he was disoriented, lying on his back with his sword resting against his chest, hands draped over it, slowly regisetering what he could see and feel - a building around him, with furnishings unfamiliar and jarring, a loud noise that had awakened him from sleep he couldn't remember falling into, and the fact that he was lying on something much softer than a bed of flowers over stone. He sat up, the movement abrupt, reaching toward the sound that seemed to be coming from everywhere at once, hands closing over the device making the sound, slapping at it until the awful noise stopped. He sat still on the edge of the bed, wide blue eyes flicking around the room he was in, breathing heavy, still feeling the effects of being awakened so suddenly.

For a moment, it was interesting, captivating, something new and different for how jarring it was, sending his nerves aflutter and his heart beating too fast. How long had it been since he felt that way? When time didn't matter beyond the slow ebb and tide of his own acceptances, did it really have any meaning?

He wondered for a moment if Apollo, in his countless years of learning and testing, ever said it out loud - 'That which was sport for the gods will become like them, with too much time on his hands.'

Taking a deep breath and then exhaling, Ganymede looked down at his own hands, then the place around him - obviously, it was something brought here to test him, like that Heinz, like Hades, and the best he could do before processing this was to learn what he could from it while being careful not to fall for any tricks. And beyond the fluttering of fear, the way his heart was pounding, the quickness of his breath, the unfamiliar physical reactions of fear, the only thing he was feeling was annoyance, a flash of anger at being toyed with even further. Apollo really knew no bounds, and this kind of change of scenery was just too much!

PERSONALITY [2/4]

[personal profile] olozhikaik 2013-06-02 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: Spock hails from a culture and species that (generally) base their lives on logic and rationality. This is partially due to the fact that their emotions run deeper than that of humans; their emotions run so deep that if they do not control them they become a great danger. It is said that once upon a time the Vulcan were vicious, enraged, and paranoid -- they were more tyrannical and brutish than humans ever had been. So to this philosophy he is - more or less - loyal. However, Spock has something that other Vulcan’s do not. He is not a full-blooded Vulcan. Rather, he is half and half human. This hybrid of Human/Vulcan leaves him vulnerable and troubled throughout life as he constantly grasps at remaining in control, but it also gives him something that no other Vulcan has: an ability to become intimately conscious of human emotion. Something, admittedly, he needs to work on. Something he may actually be trying to work on.

When you first consider Spock, you would see a man of high-intelligence. Spock’s intelligence is far above that of genius. He speaks clearly and articulates with a well-schooled vernacular. He is almost always very polite (even when he is being insulting), and possibly as a sign that he does not speak English as a first language, he is often using somewhat outdated terms and words. As many of his kind, Spock is professionally ambitious and he has a thirst for learning that is difficult to sate. Such a trait is useful for Starfleet and possibly one of many reasons why he excels as the first Vulcan to enlist. In many ways, Spock is an outside who is forging his own path through life his own way. Much like the captain he is slowly beginning to admire.

Spock is rational, logical, methodical, and has an intense moral code that demands he obey rule and law. He desires peace and justice for all living kind and works to actively advocate that method of living through logic. He respects the law and those above him but when his supreme logic and understanding of law crosses wires with those above him, he does make note of it. *Spock’s subtle attitude when he disagrees has been shown to have happened with Admiral Pike on many occasions - once leading in a request for him to leave the room - and he also disagreed with the moral of the mission given to them by Admiral Marcus.*

He is a voice of reason for those around him and has proven to be a brave and wise leader. While many crew members may butt heads with Spock at some point or another, they know that in the end he is faithful to them and will do all that is necessary to lead them appropriately. As a rule, Spock understands that not all beings place logic above all else as he and his people do. However, when all attempts to reason with someone who is displaying signs of irrationality fail, he finds himself greatly frustrated (or baffled depending on the severity and/or situation at hand).

Spock’s loyalty to law and order often infringes on potential friendships. In some parts, he does not care for such a thing but in other parts he desires (perhaps not even consciously) familial bonds. After losing his mother and his home planet - something he feels extremely helpless toward and still haunts him to this day - some inner part of him seeks to fill this hole that was left in him. He is not unloving nor as cold as his peers may believe him to be. He loved his mother deeply and he has an active relationship with Uhura. It is, again, the intensity in which he feels that he must control with logic before it overwhelms him.

Spock can be a little bit sassy, bull-headed, sarcastic, and sometimes downright mean, especially when he is arguing a point of which he is passionate toward (most likely, order, law, and logic). His superior sense of reasoning frequently leaves people with an urge to punch him in the face. The irritating part is that Spock is often right and therefore refrains people from this mode of action (usually).

So, let’s dive into the human side of Spock.

Beneath his veneer of logic, there is a wealth of humanity that we are only beginning to see in him. As a child, Spock was often conflicted. He was often put under scrutiny for being half-vulcan and therefore “impure, inferior, and disadvantaged.” Spock wanted nothing more but to be accepted into the world that he was born. He yearned for the respect of his parents, the respect of his peers, the respect of his elders. Yet even with his excellence acknowledged, Spock was scrutinized against unjustly because he was half human. In many ways, this desire has continued into his young adulthood.

When we first witness Spock at the Academy we see someone holding a strong armor over him that could almost be understood as arrogance. He has a quick tongue and a facade of superiority and perhaps this is a result of being looked down upon for what and who he is; a blanket to keep away the hurt that comes with years of being alone.

His inability to deal with the amount of emotion he feels every single day leaves him in the same position as many other Vulcan: turning toward cold reasoning. At the point of his work with Starfleet, it is almost as if the hope to connect more profoundly with others has been dissolved and his indulgence in academic excellence has taken it’s place. This can lead him to become protective of his academic success and even become jealous of those who may dare to do better, challenging them in his own way.

His wrath as a child when provoked incurs such deep emotion that he easily takes down a Vulcan almost twice his size, and his wrath as an adult is just as dangerous if not more. This is an emotion that Spock has the least amount of control over. *In the second film we also see his ability to feel great anguish to the point of brimming tears before anger takes control and his absolute helplessness toward it. He struggles to keep control of this and even fully admits that he is failing in his control. These are things that he will continue to struggle with in his young life as he is surrounded by those not his own kind. It is a struggle that had often created tense situations with those at Starfleet and will likely continue to anywhere he goes where the principle of living is not based on logic.

It is difficult to pierce the mask of rationality that he wears, sometimes as armor, but it is very possible and when it happens you find a maelstrom of emotions you may not have been ready to unleash.

All of these strengths and weaknesses aside, Spock is a good-hearted being with an intention to do what is ‘right, proper, and logical’. He is often eager to be on away teams and collect data and samples for study himself, and quick to take action. He is one of the first persons to sacrifice himself when all other options have been exhausted believing heavily that ‘the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few’.

ABILITIES [3/4]

[personal profile] olozhikaik 2013-06-02 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Vulcan Philosophy
Rationality and Logic: these two key traits in a Vulcan and is a prime focus of the current Vulcan life and philosophy. Vulcan’s have the ability to concentrate so completely on rational and logical thinking that it purges their ability to understand the irrationality of emotions. Vulcan's have numerous unique practices, beliefs, and traditions that you can read about here

Logic affects Spock by his own choice. He explains later on that he chooses to take the logical path because of his overwhelming emotions. While he does not understand them as well as someone else who has a more natural control over their emotions, he does understand them well enough that he has to be cautious in how he expresses them. However, this still leads to misunderstandings and he still has to explain himself and the lack of emotions that others perceive.

Martial Arts
Many Vulcan are naturally skilled at self-defense. The nature of their self-defense skill is very methodical and aims to disable in the most clear, sound, and least volatile method possible. They (typically) do not desire any barbaric approach when defending themselves.

However, as we witness with Spock a few times, this skill coupled with his anger turns him into a lethal weapon; a weapon in which rivals and inevitably triumphs that of Khan (a genetically engineered human considered superior in military art). Spock can become very volatile and lose sight of his control under certain circumstances. This fact, coupled with his vast knowledge of sciences (likely including anatomy of various species), makes him quite a challenge.

Nerve-Pinching
This specific skill ties in with the above Martial arts. It is a skill practiced by many Vulcan which utilizes the knowledge of a species and their nervous system to quickly and efficiently impose a temporary unconscious state upon them. It targets a nerve located on the neck. Unconsciousness often occurs instantly but occasionally with small delay. Very rarely does it not work but there have been instances where it does not.

Telepathy
Most Vulcans have something called contact-telepathy which insists that one must be in some form of contact with the other to read them, similar to mind-melding but not the same. However, it is suggested in other incarnations of Spock that he is capable of reading and ‘sensing’ events as they happen without any form of contact. To be capable of reading minds without touch requires a Vulcan of great training. Whether this has carried through to this reboot is uncertain but not impossible.

Mind-Melding
Mind melding is both dangerous and powerful due to what it all entails. It is a method of sharing thoughts, feelings, and experiences with another and it happens through physical contact. During this contact, the person being melded with is experiencing everything that the one doing the melding had experienced as they personally experienced it. It is dangerous due to the overwhelming depth of emotion a Vulcan can feel.

Katra
It is undetermined at this time whether or not this is something that the reboot of Spock can do. However, it is known that some Vulcan are capable of sealing their ‘katra’ or spirit/essence into an object and therefore cheating inevitable death.

ITEMS/WEAPONS & SAMPLES [fin]

[personal profile] olozhikaik 2013-06-02 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Items/Weapons:
1. Phaser
2. Phaser holster/belt
3. Communicator (obviously non-functional)

Sample Entry: [ Spock has not been as observant as typically known for him as he is still working on stuffing down the panic and regaining control of logic. He has done a few routine checks, however. He looks for signs of native life and observes the planet’s vitals he has awoken on as he continues to walk the ruins of what seem to be an academy.

His communicator is not working, Spock noticed this first, and this technology he found on his person is very dated. It is so dated, in fact, that it is impossible to find any longer. This leads him to believe he has warped into an entirely different timeline.

When he speaks, he sounds calm and articulates with authority. Rest assured, this is certainly not the case. ]

Greetings fellow inhabitants,

I am Spock of the U.S.S. Enterprise from the stardate 2259.

It is my understanding that many of us have arrived here without notice or knowledge of how. My desire is to recruit efforts in re-establishing ourselves back to our appropriate time and place.

To do this, I require information gathered by those who have resided here prior to my arrival. In return, I will supply information upon your request. Please know that anything you wish to share with me may be done so in confidence.

Your cooperation -- and any assistance -- is appreciated.

Sample Entry Two: His eyes shoot awake to the sound of alarms-- this was not a sound he was accustomed to. At first, Spock considered it red alert. No. No, this was different. Spock’s body was quick to rise to it’s feet. He felt a panic, he felt a pain, a hurt, a sadness, and a deep ache that he could not yet explain until full consciousness took over him and he quickly concluded that he was not where he once was. This view is nothing he had seen before. This looked like no other planet he had been to before.

Spock turns his head to gaze over the occupants with a sharp eye. He had concluded through quick observance that there was nothing threatening to those who currently reside in this room with him; nothing immediate. So, hammering his emotions down, he starts to consider options and sort thoughts with a small pace-- his hands behind his back. This must have been Khan’s doing. Khan survived as Spock predicted he might. With a portable transwarp device on his person, he might be capable of beaming a target rather than himself.

So what could he do? In these thoughts, his mind reverted back to the past point before this one. His captain is dying and he is not there for him. His captain is dying and he is not there for him. This thought, this pain -- it radiates through him in such an uncontrollable way that he struggles to remain calm, rational, and think past this unexpected change. A twitch in his fingers as he turned on the ball of his foot once more and then stopped. He needed to move away from people that might be innocent, unsuspecting, and undeserving of his lack in control. This was logical. He could not predict what he might do if someone says or does the wrong thing. He is compromised.

Spock moves quickly and swiftly after both acknowledging and excusing himself from the company of those around him with a short and polite nod. Not a word yet spoken.

2/3

[personal profile] allweather 2013-06-04 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Reim appears to be the only main character in Pandora Hearts who ever does any real work. Paperwork, that is. He's easy to shunt unwanted work off on because as much as he complains about never getting a break, he'll still make sure it's done and done well. Obviously, he is hardworking and incredibly dedicated to his job (and other people's jobs). Reim is a nice guy and for all his efforts to keep wheels greased and everything running smoothly, he is... pretty easy to forget about. He doesn't see this as a problem or an offense, though; if anything, he prefers things this way. He considers himself an important piece in the lives of people around him in that he takes care of their minutiae so they can handle their important duties that much easier. He is very much unaccustomed to a day without work (in fact, he is known to go nine months without a day off, and then work halfway through his day off, anyway), and his job is pretty much his whole life. He enjoys it. Really.

Of course, as much as he considers himself a level-headed, composed man (and he is, much of the time, when things are proceeding the way they should be) -- he is prone to panicking, when faced with the wacky antics of all the complete nutcases he spends every day with. There is not much at all he can do about the way his closest friends and even his boss carry on with ridiculous antics or even violence, but he has generally learned to take it all in stride... with a requisite amount of flailing and neurotically cleaning his glasses whenever he's nervous or uncomfortable, which is often. In short, Reim is a little high strung. Being, apparently, the only person both competent and willing to tend to secretarial work will do that to a guy. It is out of control often enough to the point that his dream is for a real day off, where he really doesn't have to do any work.

Compared to the people around him, Reim is pretty much normal, as the Pandora Hearts world goes. Dramatic and terrible things happen to the people around him, even the people closest to him, and he is remarkably adept at dealing with it, in his own panicky, how-could-you-do-that-you're-an-idiot way. He is viewed by others as reliable and trustworthy, and people believe him when he presents new information with little questioning of his honesty. He is an honest guy! When he's in danger his first response is to get the hell out of there and get back to supporting someone else, rather than hang around and be the hero all by himself. He avoids combat, if he can help it, which is reflected in his Chain, March Hare. March Hare's apparent singular ability is "false death," which does exactly what it sounds like; puts the Chain's contractor in a "dead" state for a random amount of time. Reim, initially, is insecure about this, finding it embarrassing, but after his good buddy Xerxes Break tells him that it's good that his Chain has no combat skills (Break does not actually know what March Hare does, just that it doesn't fight) as that means Reim avoids fighting even when it seems inevitable, he starts having a new appreciation for not only his Chain, but also for his own perceived uselessness in battle. If he were to have a role in a party it would be support, rather than front line attack power, and he's come to terms with that.

Which is not to say that desperate times do not lead to desperate measures, because despite how much he'd rather avoid violent situations, he will deceive a little girl and shoot her in the head, if he believe it will stop her from killing more people. Here, it is shown that Reim does struggle a bit when it comes to dealing with "the enemy," if he allows the enemy enough time to demonstrate that they might just be regular people, too. As someone who often is in the background and not even close to direct contact with anyone who would be an enemy, it is to be expected; he is not hardened to the grimness of killing people and the like as much as his comrades are, and as a result he is conflicted and even a little guilty about killing an enemy he has come, briefly, to seeing as a normal person. (As a side note, killing her didn't actually take, but before he realized that he was pretty uncomfortable about it.)

The people he considers closest to him are more important than sympathy for people he's barely met, of course. His allies in Pandora and the four noble houses trump any weirdly sympathetic encounters with enemies. Reim is very, very loyal, to the point where he will drag himself, semiconscious, out of a mansion and across its grounds to help someone he cares about. However, as much as Reim is an obedient and dedicated servant to his master, Rufus Barma, his loyalty wires get a bit crossed when it comes to Barma vs. Reim's Friends. Because Duke Barma doesn't have any friends and none of Reim's like him very much, which gets a little messy. Reim respects his master and has served him loyally since he was a child, but he will still step between Barma and his friends if it's necessary. The master-servant connection is important to him, but he is not the type to turn away and ignore it if people he cares about are being subjected to cruelties, even if it's at Barma's hand. The fact that his master is cagey and never tells him anything in a straightforward way is endlessly vexing, but Reim tends to believe he has good intentions.

What I'm saying is Reim isn't as violently and myopically obsessed with his master as some other people in this canon can be. His interpersonal relationships are largely healthy! Sometimes he has to act as a voice of reason and clue people in on how they're dealing with a separate relationship in a really stupid way, and he can be a bit snappish and irritable towards friends, but he does it because he caaaaares.

It is also worth noting that Reim is incredibly mentally resilient. The things that happen in Pandora Hearts are not happy, or pleasant, or anything else that might pass as "generally good"; Reim's closest colleagues are all a little bit unstable, the lower members of Pandora appear incompetent (or at least, prone to standing around and looking shocked when they should be taking action against something), and every time someone he cares for leaves he can't be certain they'll come back. But despite this, Reim remains level-headed and keeps his wits together even in dire circumstances. He must save his flailing and panicking for more mundane situations, because he is very, very quick to snap into business mode and Get Stuff Done when someone needs him, rather than fret about it and waste his time. He is goal-oriented and adaptable to different situations; in fact, this is part of the reason Duke Barma trusts Reim with missions and business in areas one would not expect to find him in. Seedy pubs full of dangerous people, for example, where he would not be sent for any reason if he were not known to keep his head in a multitude of situations (plus his ability to hold his liquor really well!). He is often stressed and overworked, but he keeps his personal issues completely separate from his work and doesn't let the two mix. Very professional. Top notch.

In sum, Reim is a good guy, underneath his neuroses and tendency to freak out. He fancies himself the stoic, serious, reliable type, but he is really not that stoic at all. Serious? Most of the time. Reliable? Completely. But he's fussy and easy to pick on and more often than not doesn't object to the teasing he gets, because at the end of the day it's probably easier to just deal with it. He loves his job and his friends and his colleagues and he'll do whatever's in his power to make things Go Smooth, as much as he is prone to stressing out excessively in the process.

Abilities/Powers: Like many in Pandora Hearts, Reim is the contractor to a Chain, which is a creature that comes from 'the Abyss'. Reim's Chain is called March Hare, and it's pretty much a big fluffy bunny that doesn't do anything useful. It has no combat skills and only one unique power, which is a passive skill that puts the contractor (so, Reim) in a state of apparent death. This state has no known upper or lower time constraint, and is only useful as far as the enemy's lack of knowledge of it exists. So, essentially, just once.

On his own Reim isn't a fighter. One time he shot somebody, but that was a bad idea for everyone involved. He does good paperwork.

Items/Weapons: His (tragically wiped clean) pocket notebook, his contractor mirror for March Hare, and a spare pair of glasses.

Sample Entry: meme thread, older meme thread on older account ha ha also i wrote a sample??
[Here is the problem: this phone (he thinks it's a phone, it looks phone-like) is very small. And it has buttons, instead of a dial, and doesn't have any wires, and now that he's stared at it a while he's going to talk to it and hope it does something helpful to him. It's on voice, and he puts it up to his ear and waits a moment, to give it a chance to connect - one, two--]

Hello.

[... .... ...alright. Come on, Reim, you can do this. He clears his throat.]

I hope someone is listening to this... I have some questions. [Another little pause before he continues, suddenly businesslike. If his hands were free he'd be counting off on his fingers:] First, where might I find some medical supplies? Bandages, specifically, and some gauze. Second, my notes--

[his voice cracks because he's a colossal dork, oh god The Notes] --my notebook, in my pocket when I arrived, appears to have been... emptied. What kind of person would do such a thing...?

Third. [He actually hadn't thought of a third question, but now he has to say something-] What- what does one do around here, to pass the time?

[how lame, how embarrassing, stop abort mission abort]

--Thank you.

Sample Entry Two:
The first thing Reim says upon waking is, "Ow." His face hurts, and the beeping is just piercing enough to suggest to the throbbing pain in his cheek that it creep slowly up into the rest of his head. He doesn't open his eyes at first, due to the ache, and he wonders vaguely what he's doing in bed - hadn't he just been talking about something important...? Something involving Master Rufus, and...

And that thought gets him to sit up abruptly, which makes his head throb more persistently, which makes him wince and oh goodness this is not at all the small, respectably tidy room he expected to be waking up in. Not even slightly. He bites his thumb - don't panic, don't panic - and only then seems to notice the wailing alarm. (The time on the clock is wrong, too, he'd never get up in the middle of the day--)

"That's quite enough, thank you," he says, and turns it off. The next five minutes are spent pacing up and down the middle of the room, while he busies himself creating a mental list of Everything Wrong With This Situation. It starts with the obvious, Item one: unknown location, and continues until Item seven: wearing shoes to bed. Feeling slightly more calm, Reim looks out the window ("How reassuring...") and idly pats the pockets of his vest, intending to return to what he was busy with before this rude interruption. His pockets are empty. At least, empty of what they ought to contain.

That is decidedly a problem, and Reim mutters a few aggravated, colorful words as he immediately drops to his hands and knees to check under every. Single. Bed. He's lifting the mattress of the one he woke up on, just in case, when his glasses slip down his nose and he drops the mattress on his fingers when he draws his other hand back to fix them. There is a moment he considers shouting, but he contains it to an upset kind of whining noise and tenderly removes his hand. From the bed.

This is not his day. With a sigh, Reim sits back on the floor, resting his shoulders against another bed. He reaches into a different pocket and tugs out a small, leather-bound notebook, bursting with little colored bookmarks and dog-eared corners. Closing his eyes - that headache is threatening to come back - he opens to the next clean page before looking down at the mysteriously blank page beside it. He flips back a page, then another, then five more, then tens more, becoming increasingly anxious as he does. When he reaches the front cover and finds not a single drop of ink the notebook falls from his hands into his lap and he stares down it. Then he shouts in anguish, which comes out as more of a low, pitiful wail. (The notebook, to its credit, lies slightly open on his thigh, looking politely ashamed of itself.)

The rest of the day is spent lying on the floor looking stricken, until someone happens upon him, and he never does find what he was looking for.

Name: Kyou

Other Characters Played: Yukiko Amagi
Preferred Apartment: none

Character Name: Shiemi Moriyama
Canon: Ao No Exorcist
Canon Point: Ch. 16, after discovering Rin is the son of Satan
Background/History: Wiki general and Shiemi's background
Personality: Shiemi can be come of as a bit shy at first, but when she actually begins to open up to others, her true, kind colors can really be shown.

At the beginning of the series, Shiemi is displayed as a shy girl, not really talking to others outside of her first few friends that she had made, the twin brothers Rin and Yukio. This was due to her being sheltered as a child, not really making conversations with other people outside of her mother and her grandmother, whom she cared for greatly. But after her grandmother had died, Shiemi had resumed to her usual shyness, not exactly displaying much other emotions.

However, after she had enrolled in True Cross Academy, or rather, the cram school for becoming an exorcist, Shiemi's personality becomes to change quite a bit. She had been growing out of her shell, not being so shy anymore and actually conversing with others, wanting to make more friends in the process. This leads to her becoming rather kind to those around her, wanting to show to others that she can be someone to rely on and not someone to brush aside so easily. However, her kindness can be taken for granted at times, as some might use her to run errands without her actually realizing it much for herself. But she eventually came to realizing that this wasn't what kindness was meant to be like; rather, it was to do good for someone without exactly having for them to ask, and vice versa. It had become something she had been living by since.

Shiemi is also known for actually being a bit clumsy. At times, she would often run after people, only for her to trip up and fall down, causing herself to get hurt in the process. Or for some unforeseen reason, she would usually end up causing another person to do harm to themselves, as well, as the case was when she showed up in front of Rin unexpectedly, only for her to receive a full frontal headbutt just because she wasn't careful enough. This is often used to express comedic relief, and to show that Shiemi can be a bit funny.

Other times, however, she's often seen as loyal and dedicated to her friends. No matter what the situation may seem, she will try and muster up the courage to do what's right and help out, for she doesn't want to be seem as someone that people need to take care of. As when Rin had been taken to a separate dimension, Shiemi was the one that was willing to go and save him for, just to show that she can have people rely on her. Another example of this is when Shiemi had created wooden barriers for the others to hide behind when they were attacked by a ghoul that was hounding them. So she's not one to back down whenever a friend seems to be in danger, often putting herself out there.

As stated before, when expressing beliefs, Shiemi's definitely not one to back down without expressing what she feels like on the subject. Before, she would be pretty shut in because of how sheltered she was, but being exposed to others had made her realize that she had to stick up for others and herself, as often depicted with the case of Izumo often claiming that she didn't like Shiemi's personality and that it often annoyed her, comparing her to a weed but Shiemi only merely replied by saying that she wanted to be a weed because of how strong they were. It's often that she confuses people by this sort of way of thinking that she had become accustomed to.

It's not to say that Shiemi hardly ever gets angry over things, but when it involves the harassment of one of her friends, or someone berating her love over her plants, then it can be assured that Shiemi will likely try and lash back at the said person, but ends up often reverting back to her normal, kind state of mind, not exactly wanting to be angry for long, and having the desire to help out everyone, and keep everyone happy. It can also be said that Shiemi is known for getting spooked by simple things (such as Rin teasing her with his tail), but when push comes to shove, Shiemi will definitely show bravery.

In all, Shiemi has a very good mindset about her, wanting to help out everyone that she possibly can, and not let anyone down in the meantime. She also has some odd quirks, one of which being her clumsiness, but can be very loyal to those around her, often displaying a vast array of emotions about her.

Abilities/Powers: Shiemi is able to summon what is known as a "familiar", which is often a spirit that adheres to the one that summons it based on how strong the person is in controlling it. Shiemi's familiar is known as a Greenman, but she has opted to call it "Nii-chan", due to it's odd way of saying things.

With her familiar, Shiemi is able to produce wooden barriers that are capable of putting enemies at bay, which leads to time for others to prepare for their attacks, or strategics. Her familiar can also produce a special aloe that is able to heal wounds, or treat cuts that have been inflicted by ghouls.

Shiemi also has considerable knowledge in various herbs and plants, often being able to point out which ones are more suitable for certain wounds, such as stab wounds, or burns, and can summon them using Nii-chan.
Items/Weapons: The Piece of Paper she uses to summon Nii-chan, and a spare change of school clothes.
Sample Entry: Musebox post
Sample Entry Two:

She was confused at the sights that had just taken place in front of her. What was she supposed to make of that image that she just saw- of Rin being over taken by those blue flames? Those very same flames that belonged to Satan himself...her reactions to that were not the best, she will admit, but she was consumed by fear, as well. What else was she supposed to make of the situation? All she could do is cry, and not face the boy. She had grown to trust him for what he was, but now...she wasn't exactly sure what to think about it.

She was sitting in her room, on her bed, contemplating this over. What if she were to see him again? Would she avoid eye contact with the boy, and pretend like nothing ever happened and continue to just...be like her normal self to him? No, she didn't exactly want to do that in the first place, she was still terrified of the events that had just taken place, and she still had a few tears in her eyes. Looks like the best thing to do would be to avoid him. That's all she can do at this point.

"...but...he...he really was a great guy...and nice..." She let out a little sigh, lying herself down on the bed so that she was staring that the ceiling, bringing the blanket covers to cover up her body as she closed her eyes. Tomorrow...tomorrow she would see the boy again, unsure of what the actions between the two will be. "...I hope he understands what I see..." What she sees is a demon now, and she's unable to discern whether or not he'll stay that way, or be like his usual self- the Rin that she had grown to know.

All of this drifted into her mind as she let out a few tears roll down her face as she fell into slumber, putting aside those worries for now and trying to get a good night's rest.

"...huh?" She murmured sleepily, rubbing her eyes as she looked outside to the see the shining sun glimmering. It took her a few moments before she realized that...

"...Ah! I'm going to be late, I'm going to be late!" She scrambled out of her bed, moving over to her closet to get dressed as fast as she could. Needless to say, that didn't seem to go over so well, seeing as how she seems to have sloppily put on her school clothes, as she runs out, saying goodbye to her mom on the way...

But, she manages to trip up, and fall on her way out, landing on the ground with a "thud". "Ow, I...I guess I shouldn't be in such a hurry to just leave right now...oh.." That's when she realized she had obtained a key that allows her to go to the cram school instantly...

"...I guess this wasn't necessary, was it..."

Character Name: Jamil
Canon: Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
Canon Point: After entering the dungeon, but before arriving in said dungeon
Background/History: Jamil @ Magi Wiki
sharif: (♛ 04)

[personal profile] sharif 2013-06-06 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
From a very early age Jamil was taught to use people. His position of power ensured that he would be above the rest of the people of Qishan, his hometown and the place he would eventually take over as the new Sharif (chief in the manga). He was raised mostly by a teacher, who promised that he would meet a Magi (a very powerful magician), who would choose him as a candidate for king. Armed with this knowledge, Jamil grew into a greedy, entitled young man, always believing that he deserved more than he had. That doesn't mean Jamil is lazy, however. He is shown working (admittedly the "work" he does appears to be paperwork of some kind) and is shown to be at least decently skilled with a sword. He has more than the average man or woman in Qishan, however - he is rich, has numerous slaves, and is the highest-ranking man in Qishan. Even so, he wants to become king, and claims that everything he has done is to earn the Magi's respect.

Obviously Jamil has quite a few issues, if he's assuming that abusing people and constantly desiring more are good qualities for a king to have. Jamil is obviously very determined to take the throne for himself, but his ideas of what would earn him the crown are a bit skewed. He has been taught that using people is part of his job, since he is in a higher position of power than they are. He has been taught that slaves are to be used and are property rather than people. While he is following what he has been taught, this does not excuse Jamil's behavior any. He does not learn from the error in his ways even at the end, when he is not selected by Aladdin, the Magi he follows into the dungeon. He doesn't learn from Alibaba's words, nor does he even seem aware enough to notice that Morgiana (his slave) is leaving with Alibaba and Aladdin at the end. It's very clear that by that point, Jamil has been broken so completely by losing what he desires most that he can no longer function properly.

Jamil's behavior in the dungeon changes drastically from how he is portrayed before entering. Before entering the dungeon, he is shown to be far more competent than Budel (the other antagonist, a merchant who abuses people to get what he wants), and is considered far more of a threat. He has the guards at his disposal and doesn't hesitate to use them. The entire city of Quishan bows to his whims and knows better than to go against his word. For example, even though numerous people are uncomfortable with slavery, no one offers to help Morgiana when she trips and everyone immediately crowds around to watch when Aladdin breaks her chains. Despite his young age (21, stated in canon), Jamil clearly has complete control over the city. Jamil typically threatens people into working for him, though he will pay others, including his slaves. He is so accustomed to being in control, that the very idea of not having control is laughable. While it is obvious that Jamil poses a threat while surrounded by people who have very little choice but to obey him, on his own Jamil is much weaker. He's essentially a bully who uses other people for his protection, but once he's alone he can do very little to actually be threatening. While he can fight with a sword, Jamil always chooses to have someone else (Goltas or Morgiana, his slaves, while he's in the dungeon) fight for him. This isn't because Jamil doesn't think he's capable of fighting (quite the contrary, actually), but rather because he relies on others so heavily. He knows that Goltas is powerful while Morgiana is fast and would rather use them than risk his own neck. He has to be alive to be king, after all! This raises the question of whether or not Jamil is cowardly. Yes and no; he certainly isn't willing to put his life on the line for most reasons, but he willingly entered Amon's dungeon, knowing that no one had succeeded in clearing it for ten years. All those who entered died in the dungeon. Obviously part of that is overconfidence (both in his own abilities and Goltas' and Morgiana's), but it shows that Jamil is not a complete coward. He knew exactly what he was getting into and he went for it anyway. That said, Jamil is not reckless - he brought an entire army into the dungeon with him after all (even if they all died in the traps) and he was very clearly prepared to tackle the dungeon. He is well-learned (or at least, he knows more than most of the people in Qishan, including bits of Tran, an entirely different, ancient language often used in dungeons) and can fight decently well on his own. He has ultimately been preparing to face the dungeon - and more importantly, the Magi - for the past decade. His teacher has prepared him for this day completely and in his eyes, nothing could stop him.

Jamil's overconfidence is ultimately what causes his downfall within the dungeon. He gets through the majority of the traps thanks to Goltas, Morgiana, and the slaves and troops he brought with him, but when it finally comes time for him to face the Magi who was supposed to select him as a candidate for king, no one else could come to his rescue. His own deeds and actions had been enough for Aladdin to judge him. Through the past decade, Jamil had been certain that he would be the next king because of what his tutor had told him and trained him for. Aladdin's words broke Jamil's dreams and spirit, crushing him to the point where he clearly had no idea what was going on around him as the dungeon collapsed. Jamil died in a far different way than he had lived - he died as the small child he had once been, scared and lost without any sort of direction or ambition left. His inability to cope with a different outcome than one he had expected is clearly a staggering weakness, and ultimately one that could potentially be deadly.

However, at his current canon point, Jamil is still the overconfident jerk who believes he deserves to become king due to the numerous things he has done (none of which are very positive). He's used to using people and will not hesitate to do so. He's used to being above and beyond the rest and any sort of indication that he's not superior will be met with resistance. He has always been superior and that will not change now, no matter what new challenges await him.

Abilities/Powers:
Jamil does not have any supernatural or magical powers. He is a normal human with above-average capabilities when it comes to sword-fighting. He is not as good as Alibaba, but it is revealed later in the series that Alibaba was trained in the King's Style of fighting (which Jamil recognizes, but has not been trained to use). Jamil is a skilled fighter on his own, but he primarily relies on his slaves to do the fighting for him. Without them here, he's going to have to take care of things by himself.

Aside from physical capabilities, Jamil is quite clever and has some knowledge on the ancient language Toran (admittedly he's not very good at translating it, but at least he tries...). Jamil is used to using others and will attempt to do the same thing here, which will probably end in hilarity. Jamil is also a skilled leader, if the environment in Qishan is anything to judge by. He is rarely opposed (mostly due to the amount of guards he has) and things seem to be running perfectly fine, although many people aren't comfortable with the slave trade. Jamil is self-centered and selfish though; he doesn't care what the people think is right, he does what will net him the most profit.

    Dear-Mun

[A young man appears on the network today, looking rather flustered.]

    What is this place!?

[He sounds frantic and judging from how shaky the camera is, he's not doing a great job of holding himself together.]

It seems like it's deserted, but I swear I heard footsteps behind me! Then when I turned, there was no one there! But there were footprints that weren't mine!

[His voice rises higher and higher in pitch until it snaps at the end of his exclamation, leaving him breathing hard and looking even more frantic.]

Please... please, I need your help. I need to find my way back to Qishan, or at least to the dungeon Amon. Someone here must know the way back! Please, I'll give you everything I have. I don't have much, but back home I'm quite rich. I can give you all the gold you want, just get me out of here!

[And with that, the feed cuts out with Jamil still shaking and looking more than a little pale.]

Sample Entry Two:
This wasn't the dungeon. This couldn't be the dungeon.

First of all, his slaves and guards weren't here. He had brought the most useful ones, the ones who would most likely survive the dungeon's traps, or at least the ones stupid enough to fall for them and reveal a way through for Jamil and the others. He had expected there to be texts in Toran to read and puzzles to solve, not... this.

This place was empty, devoid of any sort of life that he could see. Occasionally he could hear footsteps, but for the most part, he seemed to be all alone. Jamil shuddered. There was something terrifying about being all alone in an unfamiliar place. He had never been left alone like this; even his parents had never left him alone, he'd always had slaves to entertain him, at least. Perhaps this dungeon preyed on one's deepest, darkest fears.

"I'm not afraid of being alone." Jamil said aloud, as if that would help. His voice was weak though, and he cleared his throat, straightening up and trying again. "I'm not afraid of being alone, Amon!" He addressed the dungeon, sounding far more confident this time. "I demand that you reunite me with my men! If you've killed them then so help me--"

He didn't finish, footsteps cut him off. Jamil turned, drawing his sword as he did so, leveling it at the person behind him. Except, there wasn't a person there, just footprints. Jamil shuddered, sword shaking along with his hands. "A-Amon, I will not let you defeat me!" He cried out, trying to regain some control of the situation. The footsteps were closer now and Jamil shivered. He sheathed his sword and pulled out the odd device he had found when he arrived. It was a communications device of some sort - or at least, he hoped it was. He messed with the buttons frantically, trying to get it to work as the footsteps got louder. "Someone, anyone, help me!"

Character Name: Ada Vessalius
Canon: Pandora Hearts
Canon Point: manga; Post Chapter 54; after 10 days in Prayer's Pass
Background/History: Our story begins...

Previous Game History: Ada spent ten days in Prayer's Pass between her chosen canon point and her arrival in Haven. The premise of the game was, ironically, a game. One in which a large number of people came together - some with people they knew and some alone - and were given a room and a role. Ada's given role was 'Hunter'. She was given a 'choice' and 'incentive', and was also sworn to 'secrecy' on the matter. She was not allowed to indicate herself or others as Hunters, and was meant to indicate others as Hunters. The Hunters were allowed one kill a night and during the day, a trial was held in which everyone voted and the person recieving the most votes was killed.

On top of this, certain prey and certain hunters had special roles that allowed them special advantages. For example, the prey had investigative roles and protective roles. And the Hunters had a few roles of their own including a Viper who could poison prey.

There was also a third group - Scavengers - which held no allegience and could attack either side. The hunters moved in a pack while the prey were initially completely clueless as to who was what other than their own role. The hunters' goal was to kill the prey until the number was less than their own or until none were left. The goal was to try to implicate prey and stave suspicion off of themselves. And for a while things went somewhat well... or at least as well as it could in a game where they were forced to kill one another. But of course, tides change, and they did for the Hunters and badly.

Ada comes from day ten, after spending what seems like a very long time in the game. At this point more people are dead than alive, there are six hunters and thirteen prey remaining. The scavangers were all killed. She knows she's not likely to survive the trial; after a plan had gone very, very wrong and implicated her practically beyond repair. Her emotions are on a rollercoaster, and though it had only been a few days, it's put a lot of stress on her and changed her both for good and for worse in different ways.

Prayer's Pass brought her to a level of desperation unlike anything she had known. Over time it built up her fears as well as guilts. Despite being honest about her feelings; Critter's rules and her desire to win for the team forced her to lie on a number of occasions - something she was not proud of at all. It also forced her to realize she would have to hurt people she cared about and not be able to do anything about it.

Most notable of her guilts was the death of her only canonmate - Elliot Nightray; who was innocent but lynched at the trial on day three for his silence; other players finding that suspicious and voting for him, believing he could be a wolf. She had been powerless to stop him from being voted out and powerless to save him. And she saw his dead body fall from the roof before her very eyes - a vision that will never really go away. She holds herself accountable for that, despite there really being nothing she could have done; Critter himself mentioning that he would have killed him if the voters hadn't.

But while she put a fair share of blame on her own shoulders, she never particularly guilted anyone else their actions; whether it was harmful to her or not. She didn't guilt the players for playing, but the game itself.

She grew to appreciate life more in Prayer's Pass; but to equally fear death all the more - not as much for herself; but for the group as a whole. Each death took a toll on her. It left her at times so emotionally exhausted that she was tempted to give herself up to fate. The whole time she questioned her ability to be of use to the hunters and when her fate was sealed, it left her with a feeling of burden that she couldn't shake - that she hadn't carried her share of the weight for the team despite having tried her hardest (while still making too many mistakes).

Ada was also chosen to appear at some of the deaths and take part. While she never killed at night, she considers it the same, as she was present for two - that of a young boy named Luke and the other of Ukraine. One was a poisoning with milk and the other - disembowling. Neither fast and both massively unpleasant for their own reasons.

But no matter how bad things got, or how people turned on her... she never stopped caring about the group as a whole. While she struggled with guilt and uncertainty - the one thing she remained certain of was that she cared for everyone she had met here. She was emotionally, very attached to people and as such, hurt twice as much by the constant death that resulted from the game playing out as it was meant to.

The exact point she is taken from is before her trial - a point where she knows she is going to die, but hasn't yet. It is also before she acts upon her promise to her team and shoots America (the prey's 'Caregiver'; a role that allows him to save people). But not before she had resolved to do it.

Personality: Ada was born the younger of Zai Vessalius’ two children, but later became the elder after her brother Oz spent his time trapped in the Abyss. But Ada wasn’t so much raised by her father as she was by her Uncle Oscar. Nonetheless she was raised to be a proper noblewoman. That meant attending social gatherings and creating and maintaining a good image fit for the Vessalius Dukedom. In reality, Ada is a genuinely sweet-natured girl. She does not seem to allow herself to be personally affected by her social status either way personality-wise. Rather, Ada is an honest person whose face and eyes easily portray what she’s feeling. She is also rather intelligent; enough so to have earned the status of prefect in the private school which she attends. But it isn’t simply book smarts. Ada is also a very perceptive and empathetic young woman, who isn’t so easily fooled. The people around her mean a great deal to her and she worries a great deal for those who are closest to her. For those closest to her, she is willing to risk her life fighting for them even if she lacks the skills and abilities to do so. Even so, if there is a way to avoid fighting, that would be her preference, being a rather peaceful hearted young woman. That makes her also a rather ideal mediator when tensions arise.

Even when things are darkest, there is always a spark of optimism that remains with Ada, that drives her to try her best to do whatever she can in that situation to help. And while she is a fairly obedient young girl in most things, she continues to see the man she loves despite her family not accepting him, proving that she also knows when to stand firm in her own beliefs and for the sake of the things she truly wants. She doesn’t act blindly, but rather, wishes to act in the best interest of the people she cares about, as well as her own best interests, although she seems to often put other’s interests before her own.

She can be easily flustered by certain things such as close contact, flattering speech, and affectionate words or actions. But she is also a fairly affectionate young woman who sees and accepts both the good and bad in people. While she is rather perceptive of other people, she isn’t always right and can jump to conclusions when excited. However, she isn’t the type to judge people on appearances, first impressions, or the words of others. She looks at people closely and judges them for herself, looking deeper than the surface. While Ada tries to always see the best in others, she isn’t blind to people’s faults either, but rather finds ways of accepting those things.

But it is because her image is so important that her relationship with the man she loves and wishes to always be beside is not recognized and why she must hide her love for the occult. Her hobby of studying and immersing herself into the occult is a secret she shares with almost no one and her things are confined to the basement of the secondary mansion her Uncle gave to her; out of the eyes of the public. While it seems she receives things from her classmates on the subject, it seems to be something she hides quite diligently from most. She doesn’t even tell the man she’s dating despite having thought he was also interested in such things, until provoked to show her ‘true self’. And when he reacts badly at first, you can see that there is a part of her that fears her true self being rejected by the people she cares about, which could explain why she’s so reluctant to share it with others. But even so, it’s shown that she had always had some interest in dark, unusual stories even when she was a little kid, listening to stories that were normally meant to frighten children into behaving.

Because she worries for the people closes to her so and also because she lost her brother at such a young age, Ada doesn’t want to be alone. When her brother disappeared into the Abyss, even though she was young, she too did what she could to try and help find a way to save him. And when he returned the same age he had been when he left and she had grown older than him, she feared that he wouldn’t recognize her, or that he might reject her.

So despite being so strong willed, Ada is actually rather fearful of not being accepted. That and the fear of losing those close to her are probably her two greatest fears. While on the other hand, danger itself doesn’t scare her nearly as much, despite her lack of strength or fighting ability.

Abilities/Powers: Ada is without any form of 'special' abilities. She's a simple, aristocratic human girl. Though you might include her uncanny ability to attract and make friends with cats to be an unusual 'ability'. Beyond that, she is weak but also has an... intense love of the occult, and is familiar with any manner of hexes, magics, and paranormal activities. That includes knowledge of how to perform tarot card readings as well as other basic forms of witchcraft. No she is - as far as we know - not capable of anything supernatural, however it is noted that she does believe in these sorts of things and could be convinced to try them regardless of the chance for success. Granted, as it is a hidden part of her personality, you have to be someone special for her to confess it to you and show you.

Items/Weapons: She has a gun from Prayer's Pass - one that is uniquely designed to kill no matter where the person is shot, but holds only one round and can then not be used again. She also has her journal from Prayer's Pass, which holds information on her role as well as her own notes and a series of notes she had penned out for others - written to indicate that if they were being read... she was dead. Lastly she carries a small purse in which she holds both journal and weapon.

Sample Entry: Sample Threads from Hunter's Game

Sample Entry Two: Something feels wrong when Ada feels herself begin to stir. In the fuzziness of first waking, she can hear the faint sound of an alarm clock - something she hasn't heard in over a week. It's the first morning of at least nine that she hasn't woken up in Cabin R, room 4 surrounded by the strange smell of spoiled milk to a sterilized room unlike any of the others in Prayer's Pass. She does not wake automatically with the feeling of dread and prepared to make herself eat a meager breakfast and make her way to the Graveyard where she spends so much of her free time preparing memorials for the dead and speaking to them without answer. No, that sound wakes her this morning and breaks the usual cycle early, before she even considers what usually comes after. She groans and squints and rubs her eyes and delayed, she feels the dread sink in.

When had she fallen asleep? Night hadn't fallen yet in Prayer's Pass... in fact, the last thing she remembered was the Trial, which was in full swing. She ran over the events of the trial, from the burning of Mister Togami that made her pass out briefly, to her final statements at the trial - a mixture of innocence and guilt... but that was as far as she remembered. She remembered thinking all too clearly that she had to shoot America - that she had no choice, and that it was the last thing she could do to help ensure her team would win that horrid game. But while Ada remembers thinking it so clearly, she can't remember doing it.

The chilling thought that comes next is that someone beat her to it - that their plan had been anticipated and she had been killed first before she could complete her final task. But no matter how she strained her memory nothing came... no pain that indicated her death... no exclaimations of shock or anger... nothing.

She then comes to look at the room around her and notes that is it not the cabin room she remembers. It is one with five other beds and she is not alone. If she's dead then death is a strange place. Covering her mouth to stifle any noises of surprise, she climbs out of the bed and catches the sight of the city beyond the window; one that looks decrepit - crumbling.

"Ha...ven..." She reads, eyes ghosting over the billboard and her eyes widen. It clicks that something strange has once again happened and recalls places that her friends had mentioned being in before they came to Prayer's Pass.

It clarifies at least that she's not in Prayer's Pass anymore, and she has a lot to figure out.

Panicking, she goes to her bag and looks through it to find that indeed she hasn't come unprepared. With her still is the gun... it's single bullet still clearly in place... and her journal. Both are proof that the things she remembered were real; not just some terrible nightmare. And the gun was proof that she hadn't shot America and that this had somehow happened before the Trial had been concluded - ideas that only left her with more questions.

But not questions that couldn't be answered.

Like in Prayer's Pass, she would have to adapt and try her hardest to find answers and somehow... come out on top.

Sitting back on her bed, she waited; hoping that the others who were waking up now, could help her start finding those answers.

Character Name: Akane Kurashiki, or "June."
Canon: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors
Canon Point: End of the game.
Background/History: Here at the Zero Escape wiki.
Personality:

Nine years ago, Akane Kurashiki was a meek but caring girl who went out of her way to take care of rabbits and was shy but happy around the boy on whom she had a crush. Then something happened. Now that girl isn't there anymore--or rather, she exists only as a mask. Well, mostly. It's complicated.

It's worth talking about that mask, though, because it defines how she interacts with other people. To be blunt, June as she appears to those around her is a damsel in distress, an innocent everygirl, a sweet and gentle young woman in need of protection and guidance. She's very good at playing the part, no matter how much she has to disguise her true feelings to do so. She'll hover anxiously over someone she despises, showing concern for their safety, just to make the mask fit better.

Of course, that much is all false. June is a consummate actress. She's actually cunning, ruthless, and calculating. The events of the first Nonary Game stripped away her true innocence, leaving only a girl desperate to survive, a girl who knew from her glimpses of the future that she would have to do terrible things to survive. She doesn't flinch from kidnapping people and putting their lives on the line to save herself, because she knows that's what she has to do. She can and will kill if she feels she needs to.

But she's more than a strict divide between an innocent facade and a dark self. The June she shows to the rest of the world isn't just a damsel in distress, but also a rather peculiar person. She believes in strange superstitions, jumps to odd conclusions, and knows surprising facts. In fact, much of this persona is constructed to get reactions out of other people, to make them gawk and wonder what the hell she's thinking. That would be because the real June is...kind of a troll. In a life in which she may or may not really be alive, she takes a perverse joy out of startling and confusing others. Her existence is strange and confusing; why not inflict that a little on everyone else? Also, she may or may not be a bit of a pervert. She certainly likes to tease people who show an attraction to her by playing up her innocence far too much, only to blurt out seemingly inappropriate things.

She's not all casual teasing, though. June is a phenomenal planner and even leader in her own way. She's very good at remembering little details from her nine-hour vision of the future and using them to her advantage in the present day, and she's capable of leading an entire organization aimed at coordinating a new Nonary Game. She may care for her brother, but she'll also use him well as her accomplice, just as she uses everyone else.

Yet the mask isn't entirely a lie. Once upon a time, Akane was gentle and innocent. Then her world was redefined by cruel puzzles and the perpetual looming threat of not just death, but of having died, of ceasing to exist. This left her both determined and angry, with a cruel streak herself--enough to arrange the deaths of those responsible for her suffering. More than that, it entirely changed her outlook on the world. Akane Kurashiki was, for nine years, a being spread out across existence and non-existence, a quantum girl who saw multiple futures. She no longer has the luxury of pretending that reality is a single straight path--a "luxury" that most people rely on to stay sane. She juggles in her head the knowledge of many futures and uses this to calculate her actions in ways that normal people would have trouble comprehending. If she weren't careful, she could become something distant and god-like, her humanity gone.

But she is careful, because there's still some purity left in her, and because there are still people she cares about--her brother, Aoi, and even Junpei, both of them her saviors in their own way. She still likes most people and enjoys teasing and trolling them, while regretting it when she has to manipulate them. She feels guilt for the innocents she risked in the second Nonary Game, to the point where she can't bear to face them again--a vulnerability one might not expect from someone with god-like perceptions of reality. In short, some part of her is still the girl who took care of rabbits, twisted though she may be by her bizarre past. She doesn't always like the person she's become, the woman who will kidnap and kill to save herself and get her revenge. But there's one thing she does like: being properly real again, existing in one timeline, having the chance to be something approaching a normal human being again. For that, it was all worth it.

Abilities/Powers:

In June's world, everything and everyone is connected via something called the morphogenetic field, which can be thought of as resembling a collective unconscious. Certain talented humans (possibly every human, but especially these people) known as espers are able to access it under conditions of unusual stress in something called an epiphany. Of these people, June is the one with the most capability of and actual experience with accessing the field. Nine years ago when she was first put under the stressful conditions of the Nonary Game, twelve-year-old Akane had an epiphany which connected her via the morphogenetic field to twenty-one-year-old Junpei nine years later. She has since used the information she gained through his eyes then to set up a future in which she lived.

Once such a connection is established, June can see not only everything going on through the eyes of the person on the other end, but also everything that will happen or could have happened in different timelines experienced by that person. At the present, however, she only has this connection to Junpei, and in fact can only have it to someone to whom she is very close.

Events in the sequel reveal that it is also possible for espers to use the morphogenetic field to project one's consciousness (though not one's body) backwards and forwards in time, as well as across alternate timelines. However, it's not certain whether June ever learned how to do that in particular.

Short version: June has a telepathic connection to Junpei that allows her to see what he sees and the events that take place in his various possible futures. She can also send him messages along this connection. If she develops a very close bond with someone else in Haven and is then put under stress, it is possible she could develop the same connection with them (if she's regained this ability), but it's not guaranteed in any way. Similarly, if she's exposed to the right kinds of stress, she may be able to send her consciousness back and forth limited amounts of time, but that's also a dubious possibility.

Items/Weapons: A plain cloak that works to hide her face; a small doll given to her as a gift.

Sample Entry Two:

When she woke, the dream's imprint was already fading from her mind. Scorching heat and nothing but ash: images that had haunted her for nine years, both in dreams and while she was awake. But now Akane only grappled with those memories while she slept. Her waking mind was no longer prey to them. The memory was no longer a part of "reality."

The problem, she thought as she got up and went to pull her clothes on, was that reality itself had taken a sharp right turn. For a long time now she had embraced the concept that there were multiple worlds, many timelines spanning over multiple different versions of reality. But, she admonished herself as she finished dressing for the day, she clearly hadn't thought big enough. She'd only wondered at how one person's life could swerve and change thanks to those multiple worlds. She hadn't thought about the whole world.

She thought of something: it was as if she'd been a small spider weaving a web in the corner of an attic, exulting in how she could keep herself from being overwhelmed by her web's complexity when so many flies were at its mercy. Now she had to confront the idea of the vastly more complex beings who had built the house the attic rested atop.

Akane stepped outside. She was the first person out for the day, at least that she could see. Good. It was better to have some time to herself, some time before she had to put on all the masks that she'd grown so good at. So before she put on those facades, she lifted her gaze to the sky and she wondered. Was this the same sky as she had gazed at before waking up in that bed for the first time? If it was, would it be her responsibility to fix it and set things right, as it had been her responsibility to arrange the Nonary Game and save her own life?

She didn't know. But that was all right. Akane Kurashiki knew how to deal with uncertainty.

Character Name: Libra
Canon: Fire Emblem: Awakening
Canon Point: "Invisible Ties"
Background/History: All about Libra

Personality:
Libra is the kind, gentle soul who is hiding a dark past. While he cannot claim to be a terrible person, he had a terrible childhood that plays a great role in the kind of person he truly is. Generally he is soft spoken and will never enter into a conversation without mentioning the gods. He appears to be a very pious man indeed and puts all of his faith into his prayers and worship to the gods. Since he is a priest it is safe to assume that he also helps others in the name of the gods as a priest would (although this canon allows them to get it on and have babies and so on).

But Lon'qu and Tharja are but two examples of seeing past this gentle, peaceful demeanor. Not to say that it is a lie (perhaps something Libra is desperately striving for though), but there is a darkness that shadows Libra no matter what he tries. Due to neglect and abuse all through his childhood, Libra has difficulty trusting others and (until his marriage, I assume) also developed an aversion to being touched. It doesn't help that with his beauty and elegance, he is often mistaken as a woman. As such, he is often hit on by men and women alike and it becomes rather exasperating for him.

Because of his harsh childhood, Libra became desperate to find some kind of escape, and he turned to religion. He is known as the one with the "scabbiest knees" in the army due to the amount of times he kneels in prayer in a day. But even then he confesses hat he is not even certain it's the right path, and that he's never felt a strong inclination to become anything specific. Nevertheless he would do anything to protect the innocent and his loved ones from the Risen and other enemies, and he has a good, strong heart that longs to free itself of darker times.

After his entrance into Chrom's army, Libra seems to slowly work through his issues as he is welcomed to the team. He eventually opens up to certain characters and of course even falls in love. He felt a strong desire to prevent Emmeryn from her untimely death, but he did not actually know her or fight alongside her as he comes to do with Chrom and company. It is probably here that Libra, for the first time, feels that he belongs somewhere and that he is a beloved member of a strong family-like community.

That's not to say that he completely opens up and all of his troubles are solved. He is still hesitant at times, occasionally haunted by his past, and he can also be very private. For example, he is a very talented artist but he will never do any work for anyone else and probably doesn't show it off either. Sometimes he even seems to forget how to be personable and genuine outside of being a priest. Noire points this out in a Future Past conversation if she is his child. When Libra is giving off religious spiel, she cries and tells him that she doesn't want the gods but her father. This opens Libra's eyes to what's truly important, something he's definitely got to learn to keep track of.

Note: I am taking Libra from an S Support with Tharja. Therefore he is married to Tharja and Noire is his future child (this is okay'd with Noire's player). As a father to Noire, Libra is kind and gentle of course. It complements the harshness and coolness of Tharja. He often tries to reason with his wife in order to get her to stop performing hexes on Noire, but it usually backfires. Despite this, he always stays optimistic in terms of helping Noire and he is curious about his future self ... but also hopes to do right by her in his present timeline, and to never abandon his family as they had done to him. He also brings decent change to Tharja, who opens up her own heart and loves her husband so deeply that after his future death, she becomes obsessed with trying to bring him back. It is certainly a strange family, but all of the good intentions are there.

Abilities/Powers:
Libra is of the War Monk class. As such, he is able to wield axes and healing staves. He is very skilled with an axe and apparently maintains a bit of that "darkness" on the battlefield. However he mentions that he is not pleased by having to take lives! He also posseses the skills "Healtouch" and "Miracle". Healtouch restores a good portion of his HP at the start of every player turn, so he is more difficult to kill. Miracle enables him to retain 1 point of HP when an enemy uses a fatal strike, thus saving his life. Again, it makes it difficult to completely destroy Libra. He's well protected.

Items/Weapons:
1) bolt axe (as pictured here)
2) prayer book
3) mend staff

Sample Entry: embarrassing meme threads
Sample Entry Two:
Well, he knew that different timelines appearing out of the blue were no longer in question of existing or not. So perhaps unconsciously being spirited away was also highly possible, although Libra could not for the life of him understand why anyone would choose him of all people to kidnap. Not that he wished for it, but would Chrom or Lissa or perhaps even Robin not be the better choice?

Nevertheless, it seemed that he was stuck here now, in a large room with multiple beds and an item he'd never seen before resting on top of a table. He'd come with items too. There was his axe, his book of prayers, his staff ... Apparently his captor did not mind that he was well equipped. There was another item with him, a small rectangular device. He didn't understand it at all and set it aside as it was likely not to help him. "Gods ..." He whispered on the very lightest edge of his breath, looking over at the other lumps of people in the beds around him. They would be stirring soon. That obnoxious noise coming from who knows what would be sure of that.

Quietly Libra slid out of the bed and got his bearings before beginning to leave the room. He looked back a second to swipe his prayer book off the covers too. He was going to need that. Gripping it tightly, he walked toward the door to the outside, not even fully confident that it would open for him. But he calmed his breaths and held his prayers close, closing his eyes in order to gather his thoughts.

The Gods will protect me. They have ordained my path in life. He told himself, repeating the first part over and over again in his head. Whatever lay on the outside of the door, he would get his answers, one way or another. The dark spots in his life had yet to put him down, so he did not intend to let them win now either.
