Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

To see what we are looking for:

Character Name: Kristoff Bjorgman
Canon: Frozen
Canon Point: Post movie
Background/History: sup

Personality:

Reindeers are better than people.

For the first half of the movie, this is pretty much Kristoff's mantra. Not only does he sing it to his reindeer companion, Sven, as part of a cute little bedtime ditty, but...he genuinely believes it. 'People will beat you and curse you and cheat you.' They're jerks and they're all bad, every last one of them. Granted, he had just gotten tossed- bodily, I might add -out of a shop/sauna for calling the owner a crook, an incident which was likely the inspiration for said bedtime ditty, however, Kristoff is a loner by nature. He's got his sled and he's got Sven, which is all he needs to get by out in the mountains, harvesting ice (a profession he started to prepare for as a kiddo). He prefers it that way. Sven is totally a fantastic conversationalist- so what if Kristoff speaks for him? Got the voice down and everything. They've been together for years, he knows what Sven is thinking, even when he wants to pretend he doesn't, like the time Sven kept nudging him to go back to the palace after Anna and he insisted he couldn't understand Sven when he talked that way.

(No, there's nothing weird about pitching your voice so you sound like what you'd imagine your reindeer would if he could talk. There's nothing weird about that at all. You're weird.)

Kristoff might've kept contact with other human beings as minimal as possible, in fact, if Anna hadn't imposed herself on him. Never mind he's an orphan and was raised by a bunch of love experts- er, trolls (no really, they're actual trolls, in a figurative and literal sense). Never mind he's a sensitive guy who needs the contact and the interaction more than he'd ever admit. Sure, he hems and haws and tries to scare Anna at first by going way too fast in the sled (that gets destroyed), but she doesn't react the way he expects her to. She never does. And...that's not so bad! At all! He can be himself around her, can even have fun with her- she's like another Sven, except. Not a reindeer. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaa? It's only when he starts to realize he cares about Anna, maybe even loves her, that he gets a little awkward and unsure of himself, which is a strange new experience. He's got a ton of quirks that he doesn't think twice about and he knows he's good at all aspects of his job and then Anna busts into his life and shakes everything up, throws him off balance. Even so, when Anna's running out of time, his only thought is getting her back home as fast as he can, and that means letting her go, no matter how much it hurts him to do it. She's engaged to someone else, after all, and that someone else is the person who can save her, not Kristoff.

But this is Disney so. Ya know. Happy endings.

Anyway, let's talk about those quirks! Kristoff is cool with eating stuff that has been inside a reindeer's mouth and is covered with reindeer slobber. Ain't no thing. He does wash himself but he still winds up kinda smelly (again, his primary companion for most of his life up until this point was Sven, and reindeers smell). He can be very blunt and gruff and cranky, not to mention gross. He expressed disgust at the fact that Anna got engaged after knowing her fiance for a day and asked her all these questions about Hans that she didn't know the answers to, following up with a line about guys picking their noses and eating their boogers- according to Kristoff, all guys do it. Which means he has done it, maybe more than a few times. Nice!!! Also he cleans his sled (IT'S MAHOGANY) with his own spit and yet freaks out when Anna puts her feet up ON THE MAHOGANY (and some of his spit flies in her face). He thinks Elsa's ice palace is the coolest thing in the world and gets pretty bummed when Anna says she wants to go in alone first. He plays the lute! He knows how to sing! He wanted to tell Olaf what would happen to a snowman in summer, because he thought somebody should break the bad news, but Anna ordered him not to. He gets all nervous when he's taking Anna to meet the trolls because they're loud and inappropriate and really heavy, you guys, seriously.

And he asked Anna for permission to kiss her instead of just doing it, which is pretty great.

Abilities/Powers: He's been lugging huge blocks of ice around since he was little, so he's pretty strong! He's also an outdoorsman, and is used to roughing it with few supplies. The conditions of Haven suck, but the concept of living without any luxuries isn't all that foreign to him.

Items/Weapons:

-His clothes
-His lute
-A bag of carrots

Sample Entry: what up

Sample Entry Two:

Love makes you selfless.

There was more than one kind- Kristoff knew that. He loved Sven, who had been by his side since they were both little sprats, basically. Wherever Kristoff went, Sven went with him. They survived abandonment (on account of death) together, they survived as tagalongs until the trolls, trolls who had healed a little girl as he watched, concealed- or so he thought. A girl with a white streak in her hair, like she'd been touched by snow, by ice (she had been). He loved the trolls that took him and Sven in as their own, Grand Pabbie and Bulda and Cliff and the rest, for all their crudeness and their exuberance and their...well, their heaviness (maybe because of those things; the apple didn't fall very far from the tree). No matter how often he left to explore the mountains, to seek adventure and ice, always ice, they welcomed him back like he was their golden boy. Not to brag or anything, but he was. Their golden boy. (They made sure to poke fun at his blonde hair as often as possible.)

He knew about love.

What he didn't know was the way it could sneak up on you. It hardly mattered if you were alert or if you were the most observant person around, and it definitely didn't matter if you were looking for it or not (he wasn't). There could be nothing there one moment and then the next, you're getting socked in the face by it, with no way to defend yourself. If you told him that leaving some girl behind when he knew he'd probably never see her again would be the hardest thing he'd have to do in his life so far, he'd scoff and suggest you get your head out of the ale barrel.

Except Anna wasn't just some girl, and leaving her behind was the hardest thing he'd ever had to do in his life so far.

But he did it. Even when he wanted to be the one she loved, even when he wanted to be the one who saved her.

She saved herself, in the end. Hans didn't do it. Kristoff didn't do it. Anna did. Anna and the love she felt for her sister. A love that was worth the sacrifice, more than worth it.

Because love makes you selfless.

There were worse life-changing revelations he could have, he supposed.

Preferred Apartment: Anywhere with Elsa and Kristoff. Elsa preferred over Kristoff, if necessary, because chicks before dicks, yo.

Character Name: Anna (Princess Anna of Arendelle if we’re being fancy)
Canon: Frozen
Canon Point: Post-movie.
Background/History: Link! Link again!
Previous Game History: n/a
Personality:

Anna isn’t the stereotypical Disney princess. Sure, she shares plenty of traits with princesses past: she is a lot sheltered and a little naive; she’s cheerful and outgoing, a relentless, cock-eyed optimist; she shamelessly wishes to be swept off her feet. But her dreams of romance never overshadow the relationship she has with her sister, Elsa; their relationship is the most central and integral to the story, and it ends up influencing and showcasing many of Anna’s personality traits.

Elsa is, ultimately, the reason why Anna ends up so sheltered; because their parents decide to shut Elsa away to keep her powers hidden, Anna is forced to grow up with little more than herself and the portraits in the gallery for company, and paintings don’t exactly talk back. As a result, Anna is restlessly lonely at the beginning of the movie, so much so that she gets a whole song about it, and she wants nothing more to make connections with people: her sister, a man, anyone and everyone. This is why she is so thirsty for romance, and why her vision of it--and the outside world in general--is so idealized; she doesn’t have a lot of experience with it, after all. She’s more than ready for the gates to open, so that she can meet new people and experience new things; she’s curious and eager, an attitude that never really leaves her even when she’s finally outside the gates.

This severe lack of human interaction also makes her near-guileless; she wears her heart on her sleeve, whether she’s happy or not, and doesn’t have much of a brain-to-mouth filter. She’s very forthcoming about her relationship (or, at that point, lack thereof) with her sister to a guy she literally just met earlier that day, in spite of the fact that the admission is painful. She doesn’t make any edits with Kristoff either, giving him all the details on the circumstances of her sister’s whole winter-in-July act even though she can’t even remember his name right. This openness both helps and hurts her; while she’s quick to make friends, it also makes her very susceptible to people trying to hurt her: specifically, Hans’ sudden but inevitable betrayal. He draws her in easily, playing on her loneliness and naivete to get her to agree to marry him in less than a day.

She also isn’t the most composed when it comes to dealing with people, and tends to default to an extreme kind of talkativeness in most of her conversations; she rambles a lot or blurts out whatever comes to mind first, regardless of whether it’s appropriate or not. This leads to a few awkward situations, including her first meetings with both Hans and Kristoff. The scene outside her sister’s castle, when she’s shaking off Kristoff’s help in scaling a sheer cliff, also showcases how incredibly silly and overdramatic she can be, which stems from how excitable she is; she decides to throw a snowball at a snowmonster just because she thought he was being rude, after all. It ends up backfiring, since said snowmonster turned around and chased them off a cliff.

The cliff scene also demonstrates the confidence she has in herself, which, in this case, is completely unwarranted; survival skills aren’t her strong suit, or any sort of suit of hers at all, really. Her confidence isn’t boundless, however; when she makes a mistake, she apologizes, like when she accidentally smacks Kristoff in the face with a bag of carrots--awkwardly, but it’s still an apology. A moment later, she issues commands just as awkwardly, and it’s obvious she’s not used to taking charge, even though she already knows what she wants and (mostly) how to get it.

This determination is what sets her apart from many other Disney princesses; she is very impetuous, and doesn’t hesitate at all to go after her sister when she runs away, to enlist Kristoff’s help when she needs a guide up to the North Mountain, or to save her sister when Hans raises his sword against her. This is both a virtue and a flaw, since it’s makes her extremely proactive and courageous when necessary, but it also makes her very impulsive--she goes out into Elsa’s winter storm in a ball gown, for instance, which naturally comes back to bite her in the butt later.

Most importantly, her determination to save her sister proves how incredibly loyal she is to the people she loves, and how single-minded she is about helping those people. Her relationship with Elsa is a complicated one, but Anna has such faith in her sister that, in spite of the fact that they hadn’t spoken in years, she never stops believing that Elsa is powerful and wonderful and good. Even when Kristoff tries to convince her to leave Elsa’s ice castle, Anna simply refuses to give up; Elsa is the one who has to kick her out, and even after that rejection, Anna still doesn’t hesitate to sacrifice her life to save her sister’s.

Abilities/Powers: The power to grossly misjudge princes of the Southern Isles. Other than that, she’s completely ordinary. In the best way, of course.
Items/Weapons: Her clothes… I can’t think of anything else so I guess that’s it.
Sample Entry: Link.

Sample Entry Two:

That was definitely not what she’d had in mind for the day that the gates were open. She was prepared to meet a ton of people, dance a lot, maybe run into a handsome man who swept her off her feet--well, alright, so she had done that, but it turned out he’d only swept her off her feet so that he could leave her to die of a frozen heart. Not that Anna was holding a grudge or anything.

She was kind of holding a grudge.

But in spite of the fact that nothing went exactly to plan--including her 24-hour engagement--Anna couldn’t find it in herself to regret much of any of it. Sure, she’d learned the hard way that she still had a lot of learn about love--and sure, Elsa kind of froze over their entire kingdom for a day or two there, then ran herself away in a self-imposed exile, then struck Anna in the heart (on accident, as Anna insisted on reminding everyone), and then Hans almost killed the both of them--but everything worked out in the end.

For the better. The gates would never be closed again. Anna could finally talk to her sister, whenever and wherever she wanted, without a pesky door to separate them--and Anna found she took great relish in opening up whatever door Elsa was behind, just for the novelty of it. It was like they were children again, and all those years of separation in close quarters could finally be put behind them.

They still had a lot to figure out, though. Anna got the full story of their childhood out of Elsa, including all of Anna’s modified memories and the story behind the white streak in her hair, and Anna peppered Elsa with questions as quickly as she could think of them--“So we used to skate in the ballroom? And you’d make it snow?” she asked, then: “You know, I always used to think that would be a perfect place to skate, though I never knew why--oh, can you still do it? Was I as bad at skating back then as I am now?”

Then she laughed and said excitedly, “Ooh ooh, do you think we could fit Sven inside so he can skate too?”

But there was one part that Anna enjoyed the most. After a long day of sock sliding in the hallway and banister riding on the great staircases, she could run up to her sister’s bedroom--or study--it was still amazing to Anna that Elsa could be found almost anywhere now, instead of just her room--and fling open the door and say, “Hey Elsa, do you wanna build a snowman?”

Personality: As a child, Sasuke played the role of little brother well enough. Loved his mother, wanted only to please his father, and wore his title as Itachi’s youngest sibling with admirable skill, both adoring and striving to be just like him – if not better. Yet, with his clan’s massacre at his brother’s hands, all of that changed. Love slid right into the realm of hate, and from that moment on, he has done nothing but push himself for its sake.

This has crafted a young man who has never once forgotten where it was he has come from – one of the most prestigious clans to grace Konoha’s grounds - and over the years, this has taken root and blossomed into something quite dark indeed. From it, a haughtiness has spawned that has him bowing before no one, not even for shows of basic respect. It’s head held high in a cool show of arrogance and eyes that glitter with frigid condescension.

He’s distant and does little to dispel the image he has crafted for himself, which is namely that he is better than you. This has become more of an understood matter since he left his village, where he lets his talents speak for himself on that. In fact, there seems little of the fire-branded youth that Sasuke once was: searing smirk on his lips, ready to gloat or easily prodded into overreacting out of jealousy and a self-consuming desire to be strong enough to kill that man. Rather, in the power he has garnered since his betrayal, Sasuke has become enshrouded in cool confidence, one that at times might lead you to believe there is little left beneath it all of the boy who had once cowed his own Ego for the sake of saving his teammates.

One could say there’s something of a mystery that has come to cloak this older version. He shields his thoughts readily, giving nothing away most of the time, and if he does, it’s only when he’s pushed to his limits, and even then, those minute betrayals of reactions can be difficult to come by. He’s far more composed, more calculating even, yet manages to give a sense of honesty whenever he speaks. Perhaps it’s the seemingly unshakable confidence, or maybe he’s just learned to deal deceit as easily as he does blows. Whatever it is, Sasuke moves through his life with a certainty that no longer acknowledges any other possible options.

The only thing that has seemed to temper any of this is the fact that under it all Sasuke held on to some semblance of caring. While he rarely offers a comforting word and tends to seal all actions with a scalding pride, it didn’t change the fact that when push came to shove, he wasn’t about to leave a teammate for dead or kill anyone unnecessarily. [Granted, as far as “the rest of the world” is concerned, he doesn’t seem to give much of a damn for the most part - unless it's Konoha, and then that, well. . .he has his thoughts on what precisely they deserve for all that his clan, his brother has suffered. And one could argue easily enough that it’s the fear of losing yet another person close to him that drives his rasher actions – though, the idea that anyone is considered remotely close to Uchiha Sasuke might take some people by surprise.]

There have been glimpses of this side of him – a strangely nostalgic smile, the thank you that winds its way out when a teammate comes to his aid or the fear that rises and drives him to save a fallen teammate – that creep out every so often. Subtle things that are rare occurrences, but let you know that not everything had been slain for the sake of revenge, that something of a heart still remained underneath all the ice. The lasting vestiges of a time spent as part of a team hardly forgotten, of the boy that might have once been if not for a moonlit night steeped in blood.

Make no mistake, however, he is still cold to the touch with one current objective in mind. He’s neither wholly good-gone-terribly-awry nor is he the boy-next-door, but rather he walks somewhere between the two, making his own way as he once stated he would.

Sasuke maintains this attitude – distant but in control, aware of all he is and what he wants - throughout most of the time skip. However, there’s an abrupt shift that comes with the Kage Summit. Regarding his interactions at the summit, the cool facade begins to dissolve. Whatever control Sasuke held over his own emotions breaks down, leaving behind someone who is wholly consumed by the power of his own hatred.

Several major changes occur with Sasuke during the summit fight and his meeting with his former teammates. The first notable change is the one noticed by Karin - Sasuke's chakra. It becomes a darker, more malevolent thing, signifying an internal shift within him where his previous 'morality' becomes an eroded, almost forgotten thing. While his initial attempts on the Summit itself are met with failure - of a sort - Sasuke does get his wish in facing off with Danzou, a man he held responsible (among others) for what had happened to his brother and clan. As if that wasn't enough to further ignite Sasuke's rage itself, when it's revealed that Danzou had embedded the eyes of his family across his body, one could argue it may as well been that final cut to Sasuke's last tie to anything remotely "good" in that moment. The pain and anguish of not only staring down the man who had callously sent his family to its death and his brother to his exile on the hope Sasuke himself would kill him - or be killed in the process - but realizing the desecration of those remains severed Sasuke from any "reason". From then on, it was nothing more than a cold-hearted, hot-blooded approach to ending everything that had taken it all from him.

By the end of this encounter, Sasuke was no longer the level-headed, cool-sighted ninja he had been on his approach to the Summit. What remained were simply those feelings of hatred and the sharp sting of betrayal made known once again - the village once called home, once believed in did worse than tarnish the memories of his brother, they destroyed what sanctity was there in the death and burial of his family. At this point, there was no stopping Sasuke from thinking twice about taking out, potentially killing his own teammate to achieve his end - the very teammate he had worked so desperately to save during their fight with Killer Bee. And there wasn't even the slip of a consideration for Sakura, yet again betrayed by "friend" and village, when she attempted to end his life only to be saved by Naruto.

But there, well. . .if there was one person Sasuke stopped to listen to, it was Naruto. Perhaps the only semblance of the person Sasuke once had been before being broken by his own hatred. Even as he stood defiant before Naruto, he listened - the only consideration shown to anyone. Even with Madara, his head now cooler than before (though clouded still by the darkness he had fallen further into), there was no respect shown. Naruto had been heard out, the lines between them drawn once more, and with that Sasuke left. . .and in that with the determination to now inherit his brother's eyes. This was that final bid for power, now with war looming before him.

Sasuke is next shown having recovered from receiving Itachi's eyes and making his way to the war’s main battlefield. However, before he can arrive, there is that critical moment when Sasuke sees his brother’s reanimated form and follows him to Kobuto. All of this to get the answers he so desperately wants to hear from his brother himself – what really happened that night, why did his brother do it, what really mattered at the end of it all. Itachi holds Sasuke off long enough on that matter, pointing out that first they must defeat Kabuto before anything of worth will be broached (highlighting again how Itachi works, even with his brother, questioning and open as he only ever seems to be with Itachi, standing before him, and the power his holds over his brother, who accepts all of it and works with Itachi as asked). During that fight, we get a glimpse into the dynamics of them both – how easily Sasuke accepts, trusts even, his brother as the man he remembers, recalling previous history that helps guide their actions in their fight. We see Sasuke as someone who had already accepted the idea that the man his brother was after the massacre was a fabrication. Yet, Sasuke also proves himself as the impatient person he had become, Itachi reminding him at several points to be rein himself back in, to not be reckless. And Sasuke does listen, to an extent, having faith in his brother despite everything that had occurred between them over the past few years.

The end of Sasuke and Itachi’s fight with Kabuto proves vital to Sasuke’s future development. The truth, as only Itachi could tell it to him, and a simple declaration – that he would be loved no matter the path he chose. Words that sent Sasuke questioning the very nature of shinobi itself, for the first time shaking up everything he had believed he had known about his own world and his current desires for it (as spun by his hatred). His pursuit of those answers lead him to consult with the first Four Hokages, and in that Sasuke found a new goal – he would change Konoha, not destroy it. In essence, he would protect what his brother gave his life up twice for, but he wouldn’t be idle in that. No, he would himself become Hokage.

Beyond this point (which is beyond Sasuke's own memory given his canon point for Haven), there has certainly been further development. His desire to push for Hokage is a declaration made as he arrives as Naruto’s side, joining again with his former teammates to battle Obito/the Ten-Tailed Beast and Madara. Currently that battle is still being waged in canon, and there have been moments where Sasuke’s motivations and actions have been questioned by those around him. He remains quick to strike, even to go in for the kill, yet there are moments that hit closer to his former personality than the man he was during the Kage Summit.

Abilities/Powers: A full list of Sasuke’s abilities can be found in the link provided for Sasuke’s reference. In brief, utilizing the chakra that runs through his body he can manipulate the elements of fire and lightning in various techniques, as well as basic ninjutsu skills, such as summoning clones and body-replacement abilities. His most notable element-based jutsu are the fire-release techniques that allow the user to utilize fire (from larger fireballs to setting other tools, like wire, on fire - there are various forms of this technique) and the chidori, a lightning-based technique that Sasuke has learned to manipulate in a variety of ways (the original is essentially a collection of chakra in one’s palm that has the power to slice/pierce through with devastating results; other forms allow him to essentially stun his opponents or slip lightning-based chakra along the length of a weapon, further sharpening/strengthening its edge).

Specifically to his clan, Sasuke has inherited the blood-line trait, Sharingan which has since expanded to the Mangekyou Sharingan in the time-jump. This allows him to perform blood-line specific abilities [track movements, memorize other jutsu, craft illusions/genjutsu and control other beings as well as summoning the ‘inextinguishable' black fire, Amaterasu, and Susanoo, a large warrior-type summon that not only provides defense but can attack as well (sword and bow/arrow)]. Since gaining his brother’s eyes, the side-effect of blindness that came from overuse with one’s own eyes is supposedly negated. One of his more devastating attacks remains Kirin, which requires certain natural situations to be in place to call upon, but essentially results in a large lightning strike from the sky destroying the area it hits.

He also appears to have made a new contract allowing him to summon a hawk. When this was made, however, was never stated, and the extent what he can call upon is unknown, though a hawk of sufficient size to ride upon was summoned. He also retains the ability to summon snakes, of various sizes as well.

Recent stats show that he is quite capable in most areas of the shinobi arts – taijutsu [physical skills], genjutsu [illusions] and ninjutsu [all other ninja skills requiring chakra]. In addition to these skills, he also wields Kusanagi, his chokuto, with due proficiency along with many of the weapons of his world [kunai, various types of shuriken, wire, etc]. Given his history and its training, Sasuke does have a fair amount of stamina in the physical sense and can go through multiple fights against difficult opponents while still holding his own (though they quite obviously wear on him and injuries have occurred). Additionally, given his time with Orochimaru, it has been noted that Sasuke has developed resistance to a number of poisons, particularly those involving snakes.

Aside from canon-specific abilities, Sasuke remains a very intelligent young fighter and is considered a "genius" in by those in his canon. While his emotions can, and have, affected him regarding his decisions, he stills retains an ability to look ahead to see what is needed to achieve his goals but also to think quickly on the spur of a moment, such as in the midst of battle.

Items/Weapons: From Sasuke’s canon point, he retained his chokuto, Kusanagi, a set of kunai and “bracers” that acted essentially as an additional weapon store – seals are placed over them, allowing the user to instantly call forth a number of them (shuriken was seen most often) simply by touching over the seals themselves.

Sample Entry: [A dimmed scene, the kind that implies a comfortable familiarity with those underworld types. Dingy yellow light spills over the scene from somewhere off to the left, and though the setting itself looks relatively clean, there’s a certain slick of ill-used that seems to infiltrate it all. But, that may just be the lighting. . .

Whatever the cause, it seems to affect the current occupant little. A young man stands just a little to the right, back to a countertop. Alone from the looks of it, and just a bit battered, clothes speckled with dirt and blood.

Dark eyes center on the screen, the hostility evident. Hardened with anger, indignation.]

As far as I can tell, this isn’t the last world I was in. [A point made clear when those eyes flash red for a brief instant.] What I want is any information about this place you may have . . .or the way out.

[The tone is chilled in its matter-of-fact nature. The young man shifts, pushing away from the counter and reaching for the device.]

If you can’t provide any of those, don’t waste my time.

Sample Entry Two:

A breath, then it came. That quick, four-step dance to set up the kill, and in its wake, Sasuke merely watched as the creature staggered, then fell. A final groan is given, chest rising and falling hard with the effort. At its end, he simply sheathed Kusanagi and turned his back to it all.

Set and done.

There was blood in the air now, something he considered momentarily (what others would it now attract) only to brush it aside with a tip of his head. Because it wouldn’t matter. Whatever came, he would take it on until the path was clear. Though, how long this darkness would stretch on for. . .he didn’t know. But, there had been a way in. There would be a way out.

And that was why he moved. The direction was linear. No second-guessing which step to take or how, though he was conscious enough to cloak his own footfalls, to pull Silence to his side. He could hear the faint skitterings of smaller things, whether they were akin to that creature or simply mice roaming the tunnel. . .again, what did it matter in the end? If they stayed out of his way, all the better for them.

If not. . .

His fingers coiled back towards his palm, all preparation and steel-set resolve. Fighting for what was needed, what was wanted (and he wanted nothing more than his way back out of this wretched wasteland) was not something he would balk from. Not even in this place.

As for the others. . .well, that would be another matter.

Personality:

Robin starts the game as, essentially, a blank slate. She's found passed out in a field by Chrom, Lissa and Frederick, with only the knowledge of her name, and Chrom's name. Despite this, Robin does have a distinct personality, which reveals itself over the course of the game as she settles into her role as tactician and gets used to her new friends and fellow army folk. She is undeniably gifted: forward thinking, sharp witted and very cunning, with a talent not only for tactical plans, but also with strength and skill in battle.

Her close relationship to the scion of the Exalt's bloodline and by extension his family is made very ironic when Robin's origins and the reasons for her amnesia is revealed. Her father turns out to be one of the game's major villains, and Robin herself was part of a project in genetic breeding to create the perfect vessel for the dark god Grima. When Lucina, Chrom's future daughter, fled to the past to try and change the events that would occur there, Grima (in Robin's body) followed her and attempted to take over the Robin of the past's body. Luckily, she was unable to retain the memories and rejected Grima's influence, resulting in her amnesia.

As such, Robin is a very interesting mix of knowledgeable and intelligent, yet also naïve and childlike in some ways she views the world. She's a serious person, wholly devoted to her place in the army; she's frequently noted to be a bookworm, studying tactics whenever she has a spare moment so she can improve her skills, but she also holds herself to the very difficult goal of getting her entire team through the war without losing a single soul to the fighting. Obviously, how successful she is depends on the player, but the idea that in the middle of a violent, blood thirsty war with the fate of the world riding on its outcome, Robin clings to the wish that she can keep every single one of her friends safe and improves herself to this goal reflects a somewhat idealistic side to her nature. Her more childish side does crop up often in her supports – she ends up in a prank war with Lissa; resorts to throwing figs at Lon'qu when he refuses to train with her due to his fear of her gender (even going as far as to sneak into his tent at night to smack him around the jaw with one!), and reacts with embarrassed violence when Chrom walks in on her in the bath (and vice versa.). While she tries to remain serious and focused on her goals, she isn't above it all and can end up falling prey to pranks and tricks, and getting wrapped up in some of the sillier shenanigans of her friends.

For all her quirks though, Robin is universally liked among the upper ranks of the army. She cares for them all, and it really shows in her interactions with them. She's firm but encouraging with them, knowing they need to keep moral up, but also knowing they need to improve themselves to better the army. It makes sense really, Chrom's Shepherds are her world, quite literally. They're made up of the first people she ever met, and the first friends she makes afterwards, and she cares for all of them in her own way. The single-minded determination she puts into improving her skills isn't just out of her drive for knowledge, it's also to give her friends the greatest chance of survival she can. She's very open as well, as for the most part she has no secrets from anyone given her lack of memories, very forward with sharing the methods behind her strategies and very willing to part her knowledge onto others – be it her son, Morgan, in his quest to be just as skilled a tactician as her, or others in the army, such as Virion, who she tests her skills against during their supports.

That being said, Robin is known for spreading herself rather thin when it comes to fulfilling her duties to the army. A number of supports, and barracks conversations (depending on the time of day) note how tired she looks, or having her friends worrying she isn't getting enough rest, or taking care of herself properly. She does it all without complaint though; she knows how much the others rely on her and how much she can do to support Chrom in his endeavours. She participates in training sessions to keep herself fit, she holds council with Chrom and the other leaders to plan their next moves, and creates the battle strategies, as well as actually directing the troops in battle focusing on both their strengths and weaknesses and having to shift and switch her plans in a split second in the heat of battle. It's a testament to her close bonds with the rest of the army that they worry about her just as much as she worries about them.

As mentioned before, Robin shares a very close bond with Chrom, the leader of the Shepherds and heir to the throne of Ylisse. This bond is always especially strong, regardless of whether or not the player chooses to marry them; in fact the text in the Future Past DLC where Grima states that his original host 'loved Chrom' remains even if the two are not married. They complement each other, boosting each other's strengths and making up for their weaknesses: Chrom has the knowledge of the world and the charisma to earn the support of necessary allies, while Robin has the technical know-how of managing a large army, and the ability to support Chrom through his tougher trials, guaranteeing they come out on top. The two frequently refer to each other as 'two halves of a whole' and remain unfalteringly loyal to each other from the beginning of the game...

… which makes the fact that in the alternate future, Robin is the one who murdered Chrom and started the world's decline into annihilation. As such, the differences in the future Lucina and the children hail from to the one Robin lives in now only serve to show just how steely her determination is. Throughout the game, Robin has to face a number of painful reveals that shake what she believes and her place in the game. Following the defeat of Gangrel, she learns the new king of Plegia is actually her biological father, and in turn learns her heritage and her connection to Grima, which puts her painfully at odds with the Shepherds and their goal. The more that is revealed, however, the stronger her bonds with the Shepherds become and the more driven she becomes to keep them safe, even if it means keeping them safe from her, rather than an outside threat.

Essentially, Robin is a woman learning her place in the world, and more importantly, shaping her life without any influence from 'destiny' or what other people believe she should do. She's a kind woman with a good heart, who wants to help her friends and keep them safe in a time of great danger and death. Shaped by the bonds she forms, she goes from lost, contemplative and quiet to a woman truly determined to keep her friends alive. Whether that involves using her talents and skills to protect them in everyday battle, or finding the strength to the make the ultimate sacrifice to protect the world from a great and powerful evil for good.

Abilities/Powers: Robin originally starts the game with the unique (to her and her future son, Morgan) class and reclass options of Tactician and Grandmaster, which specialises in a balance of magic and strength. Robin will have access to the following skills in Haven:

Ignis: Adds half Magic or Strength stat to the other value when attacking. (This skill is unique to Robin and her offspring.)
Rally Spectrum: All stats +4 to all allies within a 3 tile radius for one turn when the Rally command is used.
Veteran: Experience gain x 1.5 when paired up.
Solidarity: Increases the critical rates and critical evade by 10 to adjacent allies.
Galeforce: Allows the user another full action after they defeat an enemy during the user's turn. (For use in Haven this will probably be more along the lines of quicker footworks and raised agility.)

Items/Weapons:

Silver Sword x 1 (30 uses - a basic silver sword)
Thoron x 1 (25 uses - powerful thunder magic)
Elixir x 1 (3 uses - restores all of the target's HP)

Sample Entry: [When the feed switches on, anyone watching will be treated to a delightful view of the floor. The camera isn't held steady; it sways back and forth as if the owner of the device is twisting it around and examining it.

That is, in fact, exactly what Robin is doing.]

What a strange device.

[She turns the device around, pushing a lock of her long hair behind her ear and offering a small smile.]

Something like this would be very useful for contact over a battle field, don't you think? Maybe that's the point of it...

If it was, maybe I'd be able to get hold of Chrom easier. [She sighs.] I don't even know if he's here. So, please, if any of you know of him, or where he might be, could you let me know? It's very important I find him. Him or any of the Shepherds. I really need to know if they're safe...

[There's a pause, before she mutters – a lot quieter than how she was speaking before.]

Gods only know what Chrom will get up to if I don't find him soon. This place is ragged enough without him 'training' and smashing his way through a wall in the process...

Sample Entry Two:

When you're very accustomed to taking in as much of your terrain as you can, it's difficult to stop analysing everything you see even off the battlefield. Robin's eyes have been dancing back and forth, taking it everything she can see into account and instantly plotting multiple strong holds and safe escapes routes in case of danger – and there could be danger everywhere, for all she know. This whole place reeked of it... distraught despair and eerie silences that set her nerves on edge and her fight or flight instincts teetering on a knife's edge.

Silently, her hands stray towards the tome tucked into the folds of her robe. Thoron would be the better choice of weapon here – strike an enemy from a distance and give herself a chance to judge their strengths and weaknesses before they got too close. Before she backed herself into a corner.

She knew danger by now. It was frequent back home, and when she was focused like this, using every sense in her body to keep an eye on changes in the environment – changes in the horizon, the snapping of twigs underfoot, anything that could clue her into the direction of an approaching enemy – she could make a fairly sound judgement whether or not a place could pose a risk to her. And she certainly sensed danger here; the whole area felt tense and desolate, and the landscape barren compared to the lusher landscapes of Ylisse.

Slowly and quietly, she inhaled a deep calming breath and brought her tome out in front of her, relishing in the crackle of magic at her fingertips.

“... Find a clear path, make it through safely and find the others. You only have yourself to worry about for now, Robin...”

Her words are quiet but determined, as she steps over crumbling buildings, eyes darting wherever there is unexpected movement.

“Something... to my left. Possibly something ahead of me... clear path to my right. Okay.”

She nods to herself, once.

“I've got this.”

Character Name: Solomon Goldsmith
Canon: Blood+ (manga)
Canon Point: Volume 4 -- After Solomon beats Riku unconscious and discovers the Corpse Corps.
Background/History: I'd link if there was a good source about the Blood+ manga, but here have a summary!

One day in 1833, a scientist/merchant named Joel Goldschmidt found a mummy of a monster named 'Saya'. The mummy turned out to be carrying two perfectly healthy twin "chiropteran" girls. And in the name of science, Joel took one girl, 'Saya', and raised her as his 'daughter' and imprisoned the other, 'Diva', to grow up in a tower. It was clear that neither of these girls were human, since they both required human blood to live and could regenerate wounds in a blink of an eye, but Joel continued to observe them both for science!! His assistant, Amshel, soon became enamored with Diva and the theory of 'what would happen if a Chiropteran fed a human blood directly mouth-to-mouth?' With that, Amshel tested out the theory and became Diva's first Chevalier. (more about Chevaliers in the Abilities Section). Then in 1882, Saya decides to open the door to Diva's tower in order to let Diva attend Joel's birthday party. This goes just as well as expected, eventually ending with the complete slaughter of all the birthday guests including Joel, the creation of Hagi as Saya's new chevalier, and Amshel and Diva splitting the scene.

And now on to Solomon! He was made into a chevalier by Diva at Amshel's request and not because Diva herself was interested in him (aw). We don't know what Solomon's motivation was into turning into a chevalier, but Amshel presumably wanted him as an extra "pawn" in his freak plan (not that Solomon was aware of this really.) It could be presumed that he was in it for the science, but yeah it's never made clear. (the anime adds a bit of extra detail, saying that Solomon was a doctor during the war and was made into a chevalier in 1917). While Amshel was coasting for people to turn into Chevaliers, Diva ended up picking one herself -- a Vietnamese boy named Carl. Amshel was obviously less than pleased to see Diva fawn over any Chevalier that isn't him (bc he's possessive/has that vague and never really explained love/loyalty chevaliers get for their queen). During the Vietnamese War, Diva inadvertently triggers Saya into a cold, mindless rage by singing (?? yEAH) and Carl ends up barely escaping with his life in his attempt to protect Diva. Amshel demotes Carl (now named Charles) from his Chevalier status and puts him in the project of the "Next Generation" which basically means turning him into a guinea pig for Amshel and Solomon's weird hard-ons for science. Solomon is seen during this scene and by the way he's smirking it's probably fair to assume that he helped Amshel set Charles up. (Or maybe he just likes to see pain, who the fuck knows)

ANYWAY, after like a hundred years or so, we first see Solomon agreeing to Amshel's order to go and calm Charles the fuck down, and his reaction is one of agreeable interest or even pleasure. Then when he pops in to see Charles, he ribs the boy for not being a chevalier anymore and gets a hand sliced off for his trouble (which he promptly reattaches). Then he beats Charles because he's a shota beater because apparently "calming down" means "slicing them up and letting them bleed all over the nice carpet" to Solomon, who ends his lecture with some kind of ambiguous Shakespearian reference. Then he leaves to oversee the production of D67 and chat with Van, Charles' human assistant. In the human world, Solomon is the CEO of an international pharmaceutical company named Cinq Fleches which is basically a giant corporate excuse to spread the D67 drugs across the world!! Because guess what, the D67 drugs turn humans into Chiropterans. Solomon leaves a present from Amshel to Charles with Van which turns out to be some kind of arm prosthetic. He converses with Van about how "mean" he is, possibly hinting on Van's insincere devotion to Charles, or maybe not because Solomon is a big fan of Subtle Implication.

Next, Solomon takes control of Charles' experiment with Saya and the chiropterans in a Vietnamese village. From behind a screen, Solomon watches with undisguised awe as Saya murders the chiropteran-turned humans, perhaps really falling in love with her at first sight like he later proclaims (who knows because he likes to lie about everything). At the same time, he's looking in on Charles' business through more cameras, amused to see Charles and Riku, but mostly to make sure Charles receives the prosthetic arm. The arm is part of some asshole plan concocted for the sake of the "experiment", but it's actual purpose is not revealed until Charles directly confronts Saya and Hagi at his mansion. The arm turns out to be a bomb and BLOWS UP THE PLACE, but Solomon and Van hitch a ride on the helicopter, satisfied that Saya will end things (and she does, by killing Charles. Thanks guys.)

Solomon returns to Amshel's home feeling chipper until he sees the state of Diva's blood-strewn, corpse-ridden room. It turns out that Diva is not pleased to hear that Carl was killed by Saya (interestingly enough, the whole "we replaced his arm with a bomb" detail slips by which goes to show just how much Diva is kept in the dark by Amshel and Solomon). Solomon has good news for both Amshel and Diva though, revealing that he's found out that Saya turned her younger adopted brother, Riku Miyagusuku, into a Chevalier. Apparently, a Chiropteran queen can only have husbands among the Chevaliers of the other queen, but as to what the purpose this is exactly is unknown, and is actually Solomon's driving goal in life to discover. He's very interested in his experiment to the point of obsession, which is why he readily agrees to Amshel's plan to kidnap Riku.

However, he expresses reservation for the part of Amshel's plan that has Diva crash the ship Saya's currently on. He feels that a confrontation between the queens is too "risky", probably afraid that one (or both) will end up dying. Amshel easily gets Solomon on board by dangling the whole "but don't you want to see if they'll make babies???" experiment in front of him. Solomon protests for like three seconds, but is shown to still have some doubts about it because he realizes that... wow, maybe he doesn't know every detail about Amshel's crazy ass plan like he thought!! It doesn't help that Amshel mysteriously alludes to a part of a plan by calling it "Things" which is way subtle of course, but not subtle enough for Solomon not to pick up on it.

Solomon and the rest of Diva's Chevalier Squad crash the ship (which is actually home to the Red Shield Headquarters dedicated to wiping out the chiropteran existence). He goes off to kidnap Riku, slaughtering most if not all the humans he comes across, and pops up soon enough to cheerfully exclaim that Saya killed Charles to Riku. Then he beats him unconscious (SHOTA BEATER). While en route with Riku's unconscious body slung over his shoulders, he comes across a corpse that's about to shatter into pieces. Only chevaliers/chiropterans do that, so he's noticeably interested. He pulls off the soldier's helmet and Is Shocked, not before observing Saya and Hagi fight off the rest of the child soldiers and noticing that their wounds are not healing from the blows. He's mostly shocked because he actually does not know what the hell is going on, which is something that never happens to him, and is the starting point for his suspicion against Amshel.

then he ends up in haven where he'll probably be beaten up 24/7 by diva and charles haha

Personality: You know those people who look super nice and wear all white as if it reinforce that whole "innocent" image, but actually turn out to be serial murderers in the end? Yeah, that's not such a far off description of Solomon.

On a good day, Solomon is perfecting his "CEO of a world-wide pharmaceutical company" persona (the harmless one), where he's indulging in business-savvy knowledge and diplomatic smiles. It wouldn't be so far off to assume that Solomon's good at talking and good at getting his way thanks to the nature of his job. On the other hand, the reason he's so good is because he honestly doesn't let anything stop him. Crushing the organs of a fellow Chevalier to make a point? Done! Subtly manipulating a thirteen year old's fantasies about a dead friend coming back to life? Easy peasy. The moral compass that swivels in the direction of doing the right thing that everyone has is lost on Solomon. Solomon has a clearly defined goal in mind, and his iron-clad persistence is far more important than trying not to offend people's sensibilities. He never thinks twice about using the people around him, but instead of using physical violence 24/7, Solomon sometimes prefers diplomacy. It's easier to attract bees with honey, or so the saying goes.

And it's true that first impressions would judge Solomon to be a fairly cheerful and friendly individual, as one Riku Miyagusuku would attest to. He'll even go as far as to break someone out of captivity and teach them helpful Chiropteran life lessons. And he's all for being helpful and cooperating with others too, even if they are humans, or even saving lives. It's important to remember that Solomon is never friendly without reason though. It all ties into the end he wishes to achieve. He just doesn't find anything wrong with being a fake bitch Nice Person if it means getting the things he needs. Still, Solomon clearly has a sadistic side for all his pretenses. He takes pleasure in provoking others and causing pain and revels in misfortune like the true Adjusted Person he is. He was more than willing to tell Riku that his dear sister Saya killed Charles, just as he was inclined to taunt Charles about his position in life. Fortunately, Solomon is able to control this side of him like when he helpfully decides not to tell Riku that the boy he's talking to is a clone of Charles. In one of the omakes, it shows Solomon eagerly preparing for his 'talk with Charles' by setting up a cage full of moths (one of the things Charles hates the most, which Solomon obviously knows) and then expressing disappointment when Amshel says "no".

Whatever Solomon's previous motivations for living were as a human, I think it's safe to say that most of them has ceased to be important to him. Instead, his apparent goal in life now is directly tied to the question, "Can a Chiropteran give birth?" which is also tied to "Can Chiropterans be bound by human emotions?" Who the hell cares about that, is probably the proper response to any of Solomon's weird science fetishes, but Solomon's not exactly in his right mind any more. Immortality has taken its toll on him. Obsessing over a goal, having a goal, means that he has something to think about other than the fact that he's lived for far too long. He needs a purpose to sustain himself. But like Amshel, it has twisted him. And yet, in a series of weirdly conflicting events, Solomon goes as far as to abandon both Amshel and Diva later in canon. His reason? Because "they disgust him". I imagine that the real reason was the realization that Amshel might be only using him and his now short-lived patience in having to deal with Diva. So far all of Solomon's desires, he has just enough arrogance to dislike being treated as a pawn and a babysitter.

The ease in which he switches loyalties implies that he's never truly prized his relationship with his "brothers" or Diva. Which isn't surprising when you remember that Solomon first and foremost is loyal to himself. He hasn't turned into a complete traitor at his point in canon yet, so he's still loyal to Diva and Amshel and would be inclined to ensure the safety of the former. It wouldn't take much to push him though.

Abilities/Powers: Solomon is a Chiropteran which are creatures that evolved from batlike ancestors (so like a vampire, except not). As Diva's Chevalier, he's one step higher than the average Chiropteran.

Chiropterans possess a ridiculous amount of strength, able to slice limbs off like cutting through butter, send people flying into the wall with a single flick of their fingers, and cause massive amounts of property damage. Their speed cannot be gauged by the human eye, appearing from place to place in almost a blink of an eye. They possess huge clawed hands and sometimes batlike wings, although Chevaliers do not normally carry around these physical attributes. Instead, Chevaliers can partly or fully shift between their original human form into the Chiropteran form. They can also change their appearances to mimic the humans they've drunk from.

Chiropterans also have a healing factor that allows them to almost instantaneously recover from small wounds (like cuts or severed hands), regenerate lost limbs/organs, and even recover from decapitation (and complete body mutilation). Their five senses are good enough to hear, smell, and see far better than a regular human's. (Ex: seeing in the dark, hearing frequencies that normal humans can't).

As a Chevalier, Solomon requires human blood to feed on (but apparently they can also drink/eat other things like wine or food. It's not that they need normal food though. Most likely it's only blood that can sustain them). He's pretty much immortal, immune to illnesses, and can only be killed by the blood of the opposing queen Saya. (He can theoretically die if his regeneration doesn't kick in soon enough to kill him, but it's still a theory in practice in canon??) He also can't sleep/doesn't require sleep. Chevaliers do not age, but it's been shown that their hair can still grow, weird.
