Applications

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Character Name: Rebekah 'Beka' Cooper
Canon: Provost's Guard series by Tamora Pierce.
Canon Point: After the end of the third book.
Background/History: http://tamorapierce.wikia.com/wiki/Rebakah_Cooper">tamorapierce.wikia.com/wiki/Rebakah_Cooper

Other info of note: I am using Rachael Taylor www.dreamwidth.org/userpic/5313887/1848782 as PB. In the books Beka is described as being 5'8" tall, well muscled, and slender. Her eyes are a pale blue-grey that most people call 'ghost eyes' They seem to frighten people, especially when she glares. Her hair is actually a dark blonde, though the PB I am using has much fairer hair. Her normal hair-style is a tight braid with a spike strip inside it to keep grabby hands at bay. She is apparently rather pretty. She wears her black Guard's uniform most of the time...with lots of hidden weapons....

Rebakah Cooper ~ Provost's Guard series by Tamora Pierce ~ Not Reserved [ 2/? ]

[personal profile] lowercitydog 2013-03-21 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: When Beka is not working she tends to be extremely shy. When speaking to people she does not know, especially large groups of people, she will often stutter or be unable to speak at all. If she is not forced to speak then she will not do so at all, preferring to hide or merely observe. When she is at work however she becomes much bolder; seemingly forgetting her shyness all together. She becomes almost completely focused on the job she is on, to the point of obsession.

Day to day Beka is a very serious, quiet young women. Those that know her well know and enjoy her stern mother like manner to those that she allows to get close. She is an old soul and even as a child was known to scold her friends when she felt they needed it. She takes responsibility very seriously and feels that responsibility for those around her and has since she was a young child. This is seen in the way she would take care of her younger siblings and the way she felt the need to protect their mother. It was her sense of duty that lead her to do the things she did and that same since of duty that started her on her path to becoming a Dog.

She's a practical, tidy sort of girl. It makes her feel better when she and her space are clean and put together well. This often leads to frustration, given how messy she gets at work. However, though she likes to be presentable she would very much rather have simple things. Fine things make her feel guilty or silly. She does own a few pretty things but rarely wears them and the things she does have tend to have more sentimental value then that of coin. Her one true vanity is her hair, which she wears long though she has to braid it to keep it out of the way.

Beka is a very lawful, straight-laced person. She believes strongly in justice. This makes her a rare sort of Dog, one that actually believes in what she does. She loves her Country and her Lower City. She knows the people of the Lower City, knows and cares for them. She fights for them, even when they are the one's trying to break her head. They are hers, to protect or take down. She has an especially soft spot for animals, children or those that are helpless. She has often gotten into a tight spot or two because of it.

This leads, of course, to her temper. She has one, big time. Her biggest trigger is hurting those that can't fight back. She has others, though most of those take much longer to explode. She does have extremely good control of herself most of the time though she tends to brood, her bad temper simmering just under the service. Unless you know her well the only way you can tell is her eyes, which seem to become down right frightening when she is angry.

Beka, though shy, has a great many friends. People seem to flock around her and will not allow her to ignore them. Rats ( criminals ), children, Dogs ( Police ), a dog of the four legged kind, a Lady Knight, pigeons, dust spinners, The Royal Family, Mages, a consolation and even a God consider her a friend. She has no idea how she ended up with such a large and strange lot of friends but tries not to think about it too much. Each of these people is important to her and though it is difficult or at least should be, she wants them in her life and tries very hard to keep them. They in turn, knowing her as they do, try to make it easier on her when they can.

[personal profile] lowercitydog 2013-03-21 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Abilities/Powers:
Beka's gift's are of the Air. It manifests by giving her the ability to speak to and understand both the dead, which are often carried by pigeons, and Dust Spinners. Dust Spinners being semi-intelligent beings made of air, dust and whatever else they can pick up. They appear like small ( relatively ) tornadoes that sit in corners. These creatures stay in one place and trap the sounds carried to it by the air, Beka can take those sounds from them and they are glad to let her.

Mostly her regular contact with, and care for, the dead makes her as much as the Black God's ( The God of Death in her universe ) Priestess as someone with the formal training for such. In fact, the Black God himself stated that she is his most precious Priestess.

She is highly trained in what amounts to police training. Hand to hand combat, investigation and interrogation skills, weapons training ( Things like knives and batons not guns. ) Also trained to handle a scent hound.

Also to be noted is her large pool of stamina. She can run for a ridiculous amounts of time over all sorts of terrain with minimal breaks for breath and water and when possible, food.

Items/Weapons: A Baton ( the old school police sort ), a journal ( blank given the setting) and a spike strip ( worn in her braid )
lowercitydog: Rachael Taylor (something about this...)

[ Samples were written for a game I planed to app but because it was ending I decided not to. Liked them too much to waste and as the sample part of this app seems so open I hope these suit. If you would like me to write another set I'll be glad to do so. ]

Sample Entry:

[ Text: Seemingly Private notes.
Written at an unknown time and place in the City. ]

I have been here for some time. I grow frustrated with myself. I know I should be looking for a way home. Yet... No, I should but I do not and I ashamed of it. No matter that it is a seemingly impossible task I should at least try. I will, I swear it. Here at least, I may think towards that goal. Otherwise... I am unsure. This place is not a good one. The people fear the night and for good reason. In my world, for this is surely not my world, I heard tales of monsters before, but here monsters are very real. These monsters are not like the ones in my stories, there are no creatures of awe or glory here, none are beautiful or wonderful. Even the most dangerous or cruel creatures of my myth are of no comparison to these. These creatures are nightmarish and nearly all would much sooner kill a mot then look at her. Worse, some are smart, horribly so. Still, night is the only time in which they rule and they can be killed though it seems to be cursed hard and they just come back the next night. In the day this is a normal city, though over all different, the details are the same as any other city I have been. People rushing about, at market, work, crime, love. It would be easy to make a life here, it seems many like me have. I will continue to search for a way home but for now... For this moment I am here and I will make the most of what I can.

Sample Entry Two:

Rebekah looked about herself, disoriented and shivering slightly, her body seemingly one large ache. She sat up slowly, her hands grasping for her weapons as she studied the place she was now for attackers. She was outside, seemingly alone. She took a breath to calm herself and took inventory of her body and things. The ache was there, deep in her muscles. Her mind was a bit fuzzy and her trepes were twisted up, she hoped she could keep her last meal down. Her uniform was a bit ripped up and covered in dust from her rough landing. She sighed, of course it was. She shook it off and focused. Her weapons were all there, in fact she was actually holding her baton. There was a bruise on her cheek telling her cheerfully that she had managed to whack herself with it. She was just grateful she hadn't been holding a knife.

She got carefully to her knees, licking her dry lips free of dust when she managed it. She took another deep, calming breath and her eyes sharpened to take a proper look around. The sun was getting lower in the sky. It had been late evening before.. She had been walking towards the Watch House for her shift. Now she was here. It had only felt like mere moments but there was the sun, shining brightly as if mocking her.

The place where she knelt had clearly once been groomed to dust but now was returning to grass and had been for some time. She was in the in the middle of it, it seemed and in a strange triangle formation at the points there were dirty white stones of the same basic shape. Had she gotten caught up in some sort of strange Mage ritual? Whatever this place used to be for, it had been meant to be watched. She could see the benches that had been crafted of metal and had clearly been raised at one point for ease in viewing, a rather ingenious use of space really...it must of been for nobility though, she had never seen such fine metal work and for such a strange reason... As well, there was a metal worked fence of a kind that looked much like chain-mail! This place must have been very important indeed, though if it was no longer in use, why not take back the metal used? It was a waste just sitting here to rust.

There were strange structures on either side, stone work the likes of which she had never seen. Beyond the fencing there were other things as well and people she could see... Her heart pounded almost painfully in her ears. Where was this? How had she gotten here? Who or what had brought her? Of course, the most important question running through her now was...why? Her grip on her baton tightened to the point it was digging into her flesh. Now all she had to do was find out. The first step would be to talk to anyone she could, she would start there and work up to anything else. She stood and, shoving her growing panic down, moved to find a way to get to those people.

naruto uzumaki ° naruto ° reserved [2/4]

[personal profile] jinchuriki 2013-03-22 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Naruto is your typical lead protagonist. He has an arsenal of traits that somehow gives him a form of mastery over social skills. Most could describe him as a brash teenager who is a little more than full of himself, but they would also reluctantly admit that he has a way of getting into your heart. Many a time has Naruto found himself on the aggressive end of a particular individual. He's a fighter; he'll talk with his fists while talking with his mouth at the same time. By the time they're done beating each other down, the other will most likely befriend Naruto-- or at the very least, respect him. An example of this comes from a story arc pre-Shippuden. His fight with Gaara, the jinchūriki (tailed beast holder) of the One-Tail, converted a heartless murderer into someone who would begin to feel compassion and eventually become the Fourth Kazekage. They then become good friends with Gaara vowing to defend Naruto with his life.

Attempting to describe his many relationships would be daunting, but it's safe to say that he makes a connection with almost everyone he meets. Older people like Kakashi, Jiraiya and Tsunade act as mentors to help him grow up, which he does much quicker than any of them would have possibly imagined as seen from comments they make themselves. His teammates and peers were some of the first people to accept him from the village thanks to Naruto's relentlessness to gain their respect. Sakura and Naruto are close because of their many missions and adventures, as well as their dilemma with Sasuke. Funnily enough, he was completely ignorant to Hinata Hyuga's feelings of affection towards him until she revealed them herself. He's gained many friends outside of Konoha as well, finding lifetime allies in people like Gaara and more recently Killer Bee. His charisma is alluring and his unexpected heroism that always comes out triumphant does a good job at gaining people's respect and admiration.

As a jinchūriki, Naruto has had a very rough childhood. His parents died protecting him, leaving him to be completely alone while growing older. The entire village looked down upon him for being the bearer of the Nine-Tails, and it didn't help that he caused mischief and problems within Konohagakure just so he would receive some form of attention. This Naruto has long since passed. He's developed into someone revered within the village of Konoha thanks to his lengthy list of achievements, considered to be a hero just like the Fourth Hokage: his father.

Considering this Naruto is older and more experienced than his brash, younger self, he's less prone to rebel against authority. This isn't to say that he doesn't cause a ruckus when he feels like he needs to, however! Still, he retains some of his more immature traits as the years pass. He's considerably perverted thanks to the teachings of his master Jiraiya and quite the picky eater who loves himself a bowl or five of ramen. It's been hinted that he's a physical learner, meaning that he's much more prone to figuring things out through mistakes and going through the process himself.

Naruto has a very pure heart. He's nothing but good intentions, an odd quirk considering harsh upbringings usually mold a very bitter individual with nothing but hatred and contempt. His heart puts him through the ringer as he involves himself through many situations to help others in need. He won't stop once his mind (and in tow, his heart) is set on a goal and in turn goes through immeasurable odds to achieve it. Sasuke Uchiha is an everlasting an example for a mission that he has failed to give up on. While everyone else who has a past connection with Sasuke gave up on him, Naruto still believes that he can bring the missing-nin back to Konoha and correct his path of vengeance. Sasuke himself feels incredibly irked that Naruto refuses to let go of their past bond.

His naivete is a given, but he's not dumb by any means. During battle he is extremely crafty when it comes to the uses of his techniques. Outside of fighting, he can be seen with a keen eye that deducts things many others can't see. When his master had died and left a coded message, Naruto was the one to break the code.

Unlike most, Naruto has had the luxury of being able to converse with himself. Not just himself, but the manifestation of all the bad feelings inside of Naruto's heart. This "Dark Naruto" is the one who feeds off the hatred that he used to feel when he was younger and hated for being a jinchūriki. It took quite a bit of effort for the normal Naruto to accept that this dark version of him was one and the same. Upon realizing and coming to terms with this, all of the hatred and impurities within him have ceased to exist. He becomes level-headed, thoughtful and even diplomatic.

Upon finding out who his parents were and what they did for him, he's grown to cherish them above all else. Before meeting them both individually, he had no idea who his parents even were. The Third Hokage forbade that anyone talked about the Fourth and his wife due to attack on Konoha by the Nine-Tails. This led him to be completely oblivious that his father was the Hero of Konohagakure and his mom being the former jinchūriki of Kurama. The only times he had gotten to talk to the two of them involved Kurama himself. Minato revealed himself from the chakra he had shared with the infant Naruto, briefly being able to converse with his son and helping him take control over the Nine-Tails during his fight with Pain. Kushina Uzumaki -- his mother -- came in later when he was trying to obtain Chakra Mode. Meeting the two of them has turned him even more optimistic than before, finding new happiness that he had no idea that existed. This Naruto is being pulled just a little after meeting his mother and learning how to use Chakra Mode, so he will most likely be in high spirits.

Abilities/Powers:
Oh, boy. Well, it's a given that a series like Naruto and Naruto Uzumaki himself has a *lot* of abilities. The number rises with almost every story arc as he's the titular character. A recently developed form (i.e. Sage Mode, Chakra Mode, etc.) with a laundry list of new techniques has occurred more times than you can count on a hand throughout the entire series, and it's still ongoing!

First off, all of his moves are based on something called chakra. Chakra, as stated on the wiki, is the "moulding of the physical energy present in every cell of the body and the spiritual energy gained from exercise and experience". Chakra is easily manipulated for those that know how, and the most common use of it is through hand seals. It's a necessity for any shinobi and what Naruto uses for almost everything ninja-related.

It'd be insane to list everything Naruto can do, so I'll describe what he may actually put to use while in Haven:

» Ninjutsu;
Being a jinchūriki as well as an Uzumaki means his chakra reserves are more than what most Jonin-level shinobi could ever hope to obtain, leading him to have a very wide and broad choice of abilities. The most-used and staple ability of Naruto is his Shadow Clone Jutsu, which allows him to make dozens upon dozens of copies of himself to assist him in whatever way he would like. This is often paired with his other signature move, the Rasengan. He has multiple uses for the Rasengan, but they all consist of balls of chakra that he molds into the form of a ball. Naruto was also taught the Summoning Technique by Jiraiya, allowing him to summon a variety of toads that range from average size to larger than buildings.

» Nine-Tails Chakra Mode;
This is the form that Naruto has most recently obtained (in this canon point) through the use of controlling Kurama's chakra at free will. It grants him immense boosts in strength, speed and durability that makes him a threat for just about anyone that faces him. He can sense people's negative emotions in this form and has chakra arms that help assist him in combat.

» Senjutsu;
Even though Naruto's most recent form is the Chakra Mode, he still has uses for senjutsu. Senjutsu allows him to go into Sage Mode. This allows him to detect other people's chakra levels from large distances, as well as a taijutsu known as Frog Kata. With that, he becomes very potent in hand-to-hand combat as it increases the range of his physical attacks. It should be noted that he can only use up to five Shadow Clones when he's in this mode.

» Miscellaneous;
Having the ability to use chakra means he can do abnormal things such as walk on water and other flat surfaces not meant to be traversed, such as ceilings and trees. He also knows how to use weapons and tools to his advantage, specifically shuriken of various sizes. His physical strength is above average even when he's normal. Naruto's elemental affinity is wind, which is what he uses on more advanced versions of his Rasengan. Oh, and I guess it should be mentioned that he can transform into an attractive female version of himself sans clothing. For reasons. I guess.

Items/Weapons: His coin purse ("Gama-chan"), Icha Icha, kunai (x6).

Sample Entry:
'Oy, 'oy, I hate using these things. Can you hear me okay?

[ all listeners to young naruto's video call will have to deal with his finger flicking at the screen. call it an audio check? he's not very used to this whole thing. ]

Whatever. Anyway, I'm starting to doubt how big and tough this barrier's supposed to be. I've broken through things way tougher than that before. [ triumphant huff ahoy! ] I'll get all of us out of this place, just you wait!

[ no, seriously. wait a second.

his stomach growls deeply. ]

Eheh. Um... nobody would know how to make ramen by any chance, yeah?

Sample Entry Two:
Maybe he's getting a little carried away, but he's pretty adamant about busting out of Haven. It's been a few hours since that declaration on the phone (and more than a bowl or two of ramen... if he could find any), and he's finally found himself at the outskirts of the town. It's hard to figure out what exactly defines the edge of town, but when he finally bopped his head on an invisible wall, he figured he hit the spot.

A mischievous chuckle was his response as he immediately drew to a battle stance. Two clones suddenly appeared beside a hand that was palm-out. The soft whirring of an orb of blue could be seen forming just an inch over his hand. With a brief proclamation (RASENGAN!), he charged forward and lunged his arm in the direction of the invisible barrier.

It did nothing. The Rasengan ground against what seemed like thin-air, forcing Naruto's body back and flinging him a good dozen yards. His back slid against the asphalt and he grimaced with pain and annoyance that it didn't even budge. Naruto's not an avid follower of accepting defeat, so you can bet that he got back up and formed another Rasengan. This time there were about two dozen clones, with each group of three containing a Rasengan and charging at the barrier.

Haven's going to try beating defeat into his system, but it's hard to make Naruto Uzumaki accept such a stupid thing.

Character Name: Toboe
Canon: Wolf's Rain
Canon Point: Post-death
Background/History: Here and Here
Personality:

Toboe's considered the kid of the group, still a juvenile wolf while the rest of the group are all adults. This reflects in his behavior too, as he's more energetic, playful, inexperienced, and especially naive. He has trouble fending for himself, can be a little too trusting of others, and likes being coddled. He also has a childlike arrogance to him as well, claiming that he's fine when he's hurt or tired and pushing himself even when he needs to rest. He also hates being treated like a kid, and will get angry and protest whenever the group feels like they should slow down on his behalf.

Toboe is also the most timid of his pack, freezing up with fear or hesitating before he does something dangerous. He's scared of cats and when he first tries to find food on his own he's easily chased away after being pecked by crows. When confronted with a wolf hunter, he doesn't try to fight or run, but stands there bracing himself to get shot. He'll often need a little push first before trying to make a risky jump and when one of his pack gets captured, instead of following or howling for help, he runs back to tell the others instead, which proves that Toboe doesn't like to confront danger head-on.

There are times when Toboe overcomes his timid nature and risks his life, such as when his pack was under attack from a giant walrus. While at first he's too scared to move up, he suddenly snaps when he sees his friends getting hurt and charges forward to sink his teeth into the walrus, only letting go when the walrus finally bleeds to death. Another instance is when he and Tsume are captured by Jagura and they realize that Cheza could be hurt, which prompts him and Tsume to throw themselves against the bars of their cell to break free, even knowing that doing so could seriously injure them in their desperation to escape.

Unlike most wolves, Toboe is perfectly content living as a domesticated animal. Having lived with a human all his life, he's reluctant to have to live in the wild. After Granny dies, Toboe starts to seek out a new owner as a replacement when he comes across a human girl, and immediately tries to win over her affection. His idea of paradise involves seeing Granny again and having her take care of him, and he even temporarily leaves his pack in order to live with native humans who live alongside animals as equals, to which Toboe claims is his idea of a paradise. Even up until his death he keeps trying to find an owner that will take care of him, going as far to tell the wolf hunter that tried to kill him in the beginning, that he wanted him to go to paradise with them so that he could be by his side. He even offers the wolf hunter his body heat when Toboe finds him freezing to death in the snow, knowing that the wolf hunter would try to kill him if he woke up with him there. Also, having lived the life of a domesticated animal, Toboe is more willing to approach a human and tends to be more trusting and forgiving towards them.

Out of all of the members of his pack, Toboe is the most social of the group which has a lot to do with the fact that he hates to be alone. In fact he hates to be alone so much that he immediately latches onto a fellow wolf, Tsume, when said wolf rescues him. Despite Tsume wanting nothing to do with him, Toboe follows him around and tries to befriend him anyway. Likewise, the human girl he meets while trying to find food, he follows around and tries to worm his way into being her pet when she feeds him. Because of his need to always be around others, he tends to be the glue that holds the rest of the pack together. Whenever the pack tries splitting up, Toboe is usually the only one who gets upset about it and tries to talk them into working together again. Because of this, Toboe doesn't care whether he's in the company of wolves or humans, as long as he has others by his side.

Abilities/Powers:

Human Form: Toboe can create an illusion to make himself look like a 14-year-old boy to blend in with human society. It's a pretty solid illusion for the most part, except that in order to use his "hands" he actually has to use his teeth which can sometimes break the illusion, and he still casts the shadow of a wolf when he walks.
Telepathy: Wolves can speak to other humans and animals without moving their mouths. While in their human form, it just looks like they're speaking normally.
Increased strength/endurance: The wolves in Wolf's Rain tend to be a lot stronger then normal wolves, even being able to withstand injuries that would normally be fatal and being able to jump seemingly impossible distances.
Fast healing: During a full moon, wolves like Toboe can heal a lot quicker then normal, taking only a few hours recover from severe injuries.

Items/Weapons: Just the bangles he got from his Granny.
Sample Entry: Here!
Sample Entry Two:

Upon waking up, the first thing Toboe expected to see was fields of white flowers and his Granny waiting for him with open arms. What he wasn't expecting was a loud buzzing sound and...a bed? It was a lot softer and more comfortable then where he collapsed out in the desert, but how did he end up in a place like this?

In fact, where was he?

Toboe was naive in a lot of ways, even though he refused to admit it, but he knew that gunshot he took to the back was fatal. The last thing he remembered was collapsing next to Quent, exhausted, weak, and aware that he was dying. Toboe had no idea what came next after death, but this couldn't be it. This wasn't the paradise he imagined. Maybe he really didn't die after all? In fact, maybe they brought him to a nearby city, and his pack was nearby and waiting for him to wake up. But that didn't explain why he was only picking up the scent of humans, or why the city outside looked so empty.

As disoriented as he feels, he's quick to climb out of bed, wobbling a bit as he lands on all fours. After doing a little bit of sniffing around, he'll venture outside cautiously. He's not picking up the scent of any other wolves, which makes him nervous already, but he doesn't give up finding them right away.

"Tsume? Hey, Kiba! Hige! I'm awake now! Where did you all go?"

Well, he knows only one way to call his packmates. Completely forgetting that this could alert any nearby threats, Toboe leans back his head and lets out a loud howl. If his pack were nearby, they would hear him for sure. If not...

Well, Toboe didn't want to think that he was here all alone.

He was born into a mostly average family as their only child, aside from the bit where they were super wealthy. His childhood was very normal and his parents were very loving towards him throughout his formative years. When he was 3, he was running around the living room under the care of a nanny who was very vigilant but far too old to catch up with him, and managed to severely injure his head and brain on the sharp corner of a glass coffee table. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, and despite a lot of blood loss and a little bit of scraping of the grey matter, he was able to make a nearly full recovery. The only part that suffered was that bit of his brain that controlled empathy had been damaged and could not grow or retain new information relevant to the feelings of others. He grew up thinking only of himself and instant gratification, opting to never leave his room for much and instead spend times doing things he enjoyed over what his family thought would be good for him.

As he grew older, he left his room less and less, spoke to people less and less - He became manipulative in order for people to react in the ways that he wanted. He used his money to pay the maids to do the chores designated for him, and his intellect to construct a sophisticated lock to keep everyone out. Even those outside his door could not reach him unless they opted to message him on his computer, to which usually he would be playing games on and not get the messages until a lot later or even ignore them outright. He had even gone to the lengths to have a food tray installed from the outer wall of the house to his room, making sure he'd never have to leave his room even if he ordered a pizza or paid a neighbor to pick him up some groceries for his mini-fridge. And, of course, being of a wealthy family the boy even had his own bathroom.

His parents, despite his behavior, insisted on enrolling him into many schools. In order to legally stay in his room, he opted for online classes and completed middle school - as was his only obligation. His parents still attempted to have him completely high school and go on to college. They enrolled him into a different high school every year, for several years, paying off the principals to say he had written and passed the entrance exams and skipped him right to enrollment. He was officially a student of the 10th grade from ages 16 to 18, finally attending the last school his parents had decided to enroll him in - Kibougamine Gakkushin. This prestigious school only allowed entrance to those who were 'special' and had exceeding talent for a subject. His parents enrolled him from his last enrollment, as per rules of the school, as a Super High School Level Gamer. Not far from the mark at all. It took a lot of convincing, but once they finally revealed the fact it was a boarding school, Souzou decided if he went there he could continue his life the way it was without all the nagging.

Upon arrival to the school, the Headmaster was given special instruction to have him carried from bed, into class, and have his doors locked behind him until nightfall. He dropped into a steep depression, filled with anxiety and ridicule from the other students. He was never even given enough time in his room in the mornings to change out of his pajamas, and usually would stumble to class wrapped in a thick futon blanket like a burrito. His hatred and resent for everyone involved went through the roof, and he claimed all of Kibougamine as his enemy. But, for the time being, he put on a mask. He trudged through the next 3 years and gained his diploma, using his imitations of charm and his handsome face to eventually convince everyone he was just quirky. He quickly became a master at socialization due to his intellect, simply being able to correctly guess and act his way through insincere gestures. He had even managed to have a couple of girlfriends through his academic trek. Graduating at 20, finally being out on his own, he dropped the persona like a hot potato and moved into an apartment close by, never leaving it.

Though he still played many, many videos games, a lot of his time was occupied in finding a way to get back at the school, his parents - anyone. He fancied himself an evil mastermind. Well - a future one. He drew schematics from many games of traps, learned the pathways of NPCs and applied them to human psychology - The world became his chess board, and he was patiently waiting to come to a checkmate. However, someone with even more of a grudge with him had seemed to have gotten ahead of his work within that short year. The week after he had turned 21, Super High School Level Despair and The Worst, Most Despair Inducing Incident In The History Of Mankind had ravaged the entire world and began broadcasting a game of mutual killing between Kibougamine students. Combined with the fact he had grown bored of the low stakes of video games, this was the perfect plan.

It was brilliant. It was insightful. It was exactly what he had needed.

Souzou took many notes about the rules, regulations and punishments of the first game, revealed later to be held by the fashion model Enoshima Junko. He had never really taken to her or her looks in the past, but unknowing it was her doing, he quickly became enamored with the ideals and commitment of her work. When she was 'defeated' by the hopeful Naegi and crew, Hatarai had decided to carry on her work. He used his family's immense wealth to build a perfectly accurate model of Kibougamine, and that became his new home. He hosted game after game, filled with original ideas and punishments, with hundreds of former students. He'd simply wipe their minds and insert them into the playing field, acting as Monokuma himself from the comforts of his dorm room. He'd hold the school trials within web chats, forcing everyone's webcams to be enabled, so as that way he'd never have to show himself.

After a while, just playing the game became boring. He had to be a part of it. After the first trial of each game, he would insert himself as a 'helper character' simply known as H. Only one student would be permitted in his room at a time, and he claimed the Bear had kidnapped him and threatened him as death as well. He helped at each trial, knowing the details of each crime scene and murderer and helping out the players to invoke false hope. He was only 'allowed' to say so much about things, and with each passing trial it became less and less. In addition, his vote was worth 14 votes in the first trial and far less in subsequent trials, to make it seem as though he was a savior and there would be even more hope for the players. This would lead to someone 'graduating' by killing and not being caught at the trial in the middle or end of the game. Instead of allowing them to live and everyone else to die like the original rules of Junko's game, however, Hatarai would simply dispose of them all. He would also not broadcast, as these games were for his own enjoyment.

Up into his admission in Haven, he continued with his games. He would come from after the second murder and before the second trial of some nameless students.

Personality:
Souzou, at his core, holds a very abrasive personality and refuses to acknowledge others as anything but little bits in the game of his life. However, due to his observational skills, he comes off as a very kind, caring, but somewhat stiff person when he actually interacts with people. He will only show his real self to those who earn his trust, and to earn his trust is to earn his respect. Both are very difficult tasks, considering he holds no value in other humans whatsoever. When someone manages to get him to actually speak to them, he is very polite and oddly longwinded. He is very good at imitating and guessing the patterns of regular human interactions, but still has a lot of flaws, evidenced by said stiffness and longwindedness. He attempts at playfulness but isn't super great at it. Of course, he thinks his jokes are funny, however! He is very quick to judge others and, of course, holds a huge superiority complex. He is also very soft spoken, preferring to stay completely silent when there are no others around. He is quick to state his dislikes when its not socially harmful, such as, he would openly detest the tastes of sweets if placed before him.

He sees himself as one of the few people worthy of living - He knows he is handsome, brilliant and charming and uses these things to his advantage. Because of this veritable God complex, he cannot see his own many flaws. He is easily sick, physically weak, and though intelligent not half as intelligent as he sees himself. He is also a very dominant person, easily able to use his charms and force to have most people do exactly what he wishes. When pushed against a wall, however, Souzou becomes cowardly and unable to admit defeat. He shows his fear until the opposition backs off, then comes at them with all he has, be it fair play or not. He is not above using his wealth to do immoral things, such as send out a hit on someone who dare even spell his name incorrectly.

His only motivation in life has been fear of death and enjoyment of instant gratification. Later on, his only motivation was revenge and enjoyment of said revenge against Kibougamine students and his family. For a reason he cannot understand, he finds himself unable to bring any harm about his family, despite his discontent for them. He has a deep-seated affection of them that he cannot recognize or understand. He is incapable of feelings of empathy, but he has not realized yet that this does not mean he is incapable of affection or love. It is simply a super duper rare experience and one he can only seem to convey by way of obsession. The only people he has been able to experience this sort of strange affection for, on a much smaller scale than for that of his family, have been the very few who have been able to impress him and earn his respect and acknowledgement. So far these few people have only been old dictators and one Enoshima girl - He spends a lot of his time when he's not gaming researching those he has his twisted infatuations with.

He has no particular religious beliefs, but despite his standoffish nature, he has no issue with them either. he thinks of the world as a hopeless place and feels envy for those who can choose to believe in a higher power and that when this life ends a better one awaits them. His only reason for not being able to do so himself has been that he thinks himself too intelligent to believe in such things. His family were always very religious, and he too as a child was - The topic simply exasperates him now. He will choose to avoid it if it were to come up. He also holds no vision of a future for himself or anyone else, simply living day to day without much reason or planning. He rarely knows the time or date as they are of no consequence to him.

Souzou also has some bad habits such as chewing his nails, not caring much for his looks (he rarely dresses or brushes his hair unless he's had his bi-daily shower), and has a deep fear of bloodsucking insects.
Abilities/Powers:
By way of physicality, Souzou is below average. When it comes to his intellect, however, he's a very sharp thinker and master of tactics. In addition he has very fast reflexes, thanks to the frequency in which he plays video games. He is also very good at predicting the actions of others due to how heavily he studies the NPCs in his games in order to take them down in the most efficient way. He thinks in data and stats, seeing living beings just the same as his pixelated opponents and regarding their value equally as much.
Items/Weapons: A big thick blanket, his glasses, his contacts.

(Edited from a previous log on a different website that it'd be impossible to link unfortunately! Bolded parts are minimally edited bits of another RPer's work that I take no credit for!)
[Thief came online]
Thief: Greetings.
[An IM noise? Had he finally appeared on their chat lists? Well, no matter. The young man switched off the gaming device in his hands and opened the top of his computer, summoning the chat menu.]
Hm? [The Thief? What could he want? Such a simple greeting, but it had H’s head swimming with curiosity.]
H: Good afternoon.
H: To what do I owe the occasion?
[He addressed it simply, folding his hands on the desk before him in wait.]
Thief: Nothing special really.
Thief: I just thought it polite to finally meet the guy who saved everybody’s life during the trial in person.
Thief: As well as to thank you of course, considering I was the main suspect at one point in the trial.
Thief: Do you have a name other than H? Or is it also forbidden for you to tell us that?
[For a crook, this guy seemed oddly formal. It caught him a little off guard, not that it showed through his typing.]
H: You’re welcome.
H: As for my name, it’s really not a big secret… Monokuma had just wanted me to be mysterious for the first Trial.
H: It’s Hatarai Souzou. I prefer to be addressed by my family name… My mother was the only person who called me Souzou and I would like to keep it that way until I meet a lover.
[That had sounded somewhat harsh… H made one last addition before giving the other a chance to type.]
H: Lol. :D
[Yes, perfect. That was the epitome of friendly. Nailed it.]
Sample Entry Two:
[As a knock was heard from the other side of the dorm room he had occupied as H, the male's voice came through the pine firmly. He refused to open to door at this time - Not without knowing who had wished to join him.]
Excuse me, which Student are you? [it asked calmly before opening the door hesitantly to peek. Dark coloured optics scanned the boy’s features before he said with finality] Ah, Bad Luck. You’ve found my room first.

[The figure behind the door opened it enough for the other to slip in and closed it as soon as he did, sitting beside it with the sheets of his bed pulled tightly over his head and held fast at his chin. His stature was slender and tellingly male as he stood, flicking the blankets back onto the bed.]

I’ve been… Sleeping there by the door in case someone knocked. Ever since the trial, that is. I knew someone would find me up here. [Though he seemed to have a polite disposition, his voice was oddly firm and harsh. Though he was rambling, it seemed he wasn’t quite the type for small talk at all. He took a seat on the floor by a circular tea table cluttered with video game cases and a few different wireless console controllers.]

Sit. [he instructed with a welcoming gesture before pouring him and his comrade a small tumbler of the hot drink. His eyes darted to a paused game on a small television to his side.] Where did that remote go, then…? ...Probably in  the sheets.

[He sighed gently before turning back to his guest and the tea, lifting it to his lips to drink.]

What could I help you with? Did the others send you to gauge my hostility? Or perhaps you’ve come to tell me I was rude at the trial, haven’t you? I apologize. I should probably seek out the S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G boy and A-P-O-L-O-G-I-Z-E. [Hatarai chuckled in a surprisingly good natured way, his sleepy smile returning to scan the male before him.] I’m a big boy. I can take it.

Character Name: Sayaka Miki
Canon: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Canon Point: Early Episode 5, after making her contract and rescuing her friends.
Background/History: http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Sayaka_Miki
Personality: A good way to describe Sayaka is that she is a highly misplaced heroine. In a different story or world, she has all the traits that would make a good protagonist or an ally to one in a magical girl story. She is very impulsive and energetic, being very tomboyish in behavior and is quick to poke fun at both friends and strangers alike, though almost never meaning ill behind it. Alongside that, she is very kind and compassionate, often thinking little of herself in situations where a friend or loved one is in need or in danger of any kind. In this area, Sayaka is self-sacrificing to a fault, and will do whatever she believes is good without even a little bit of hesitation or second thought, which will often run alongside a stubborn streak in her personality. Despite her impulsiveness, she is also quick to bounce back from mistakes and try to understand what and who she had conflict with, such as when she warms up to a certain red-head later on in the story.

Yes, Sayaka possesses all the traits that would suit a heroine of another story, but in the world she comes from, all of these traits damn her completely.

While all of these things would make Sayaka a dependable friend, it also hurts her. She wants to be recognized in her efforts when she looks out those she cares about, even if she's not consciously aware of or stating such. While she will usually try to shrug and laugh off things that bother her, trying to bounce back as fast as possible, it will eventually become obvious when a dark cloud is hanging over her head and her actions will become more reckless in the process. Also, with her age taken into account, she hasn't matured or experienced enough to realize her worldview of good and bad in the world is naive' and at a fault. With this in mind, she would be ill-equipped to handle such a responsibility that would go hand-in-hand with her going out of her way for others. Then, the moment she makes a contract with Kyuubey forces that responsibility on her, and it's initially one she takes with glee. After all, she is able to finally heal the boy she has crushed on for so long, and now has a way to protect both him, her friends, and her family from witches that would otherwise kill them. This is only affirmed by her first night as a magical girl, where she rescues both Madoka and Hitomi from a witch that was trying to drive a group of people into a cult-like mass suicide. From the time she is being pulled from, Sayaka was at her peak and her prime as a magical girl...one she was due to start tumbling down into darkness from before Haven snatched her.

Even then, it may not save her. Sayaka wants to be acknowledged for her efforts as a magical girl, and to do good while protecting others and those she loves. She also suffers from bitterness when her world view is challenged and the obstacle can't be simply knocked away or proven wrong. On top of that, while she does her best to contain herself, she also suffers from several cases of envy. When Kyuubey would later tell her that Madoka would easily be more powerful than her as a magical girl, she visibly has a negative reaction to this idea. While this is also because she still wanted to protect Madoka, she is also jealous of the fact that Madoka could apparently casually swat away a problem she had nearly been killed by. This becomes apparent when she starts lashing out at her for not making a contract like she did when pushed to the brink.

In short, while Sayaka seems like an ideal heroine or someone who'd be excellent foil to one, the story takes a much more three-dimensional approach than that. Sayaka is an ordinary young girl in middle school who, if given time, would eventually learn from her mistakes and likely live an ordinary life. In the life-or-death scenario that is being a magical girl, however, both her view of things and her character are challenged and are almost never saved from her inevitable doom. That doom is that the boy she has crushed on will not even acknowledge all the time she spent with him, that one of her best friends will confess to him and they will both seemingly get along just fine, and on top of all of that, she has to spend the rest of eternity fighting horrible creatures that defy both shape and reason, until she either dies or (more likely) is broken by the despair and becomes such a monster. She is an ordinary young girl who cannot live up to the naive' and one-sided worldview she has and making a contract with Kyuubey seals her fate.

Abilities/Powers: Magical Girl - Sayaka made a contract with the extraterrestrial-like being known as Kyuubey to make herself into a magical girl. In short, her soul was ripped out of her body and placed into a small vessel known as a Soul Gem, which can take increasingly compact forms such as rings or small accessories. This has effectively made Sayaka's body a meat puppet that is remotely controlled by her soul within said Gem, and while she will otherwise function normally, being separated from the Gem for more than 100 meters will result in her physical body immediately dropping dead until it is returned. Incidentally, as long as the Soul Gem is preserved and has a sufficient amount of energy, any physical damage to the body up to and including decapitation and disfigurement can be healed. This is likely to take a considerable amount of magical energy depending on just how damaging the kill was. Likewise however, Sayaka will instantly and irreversibly die if the Soul Gem itself is destroyed. Until then, she will not die or age.

When the Soul Gem itself is used by Sayaka, it envelops her body and becomes her Magical Girl form, which gives her magic-boosted strength, speed, and endurance. She also has the ability to generate swords, mainly cutlasses, out of thin air to use as both melee weapons and projectiles. Her uncommon ability created by her wish is a powerful healing factor that removes major injuries that would take months to heal in but a few short seconds. She also has the ability to extend this healing factor to others and be able to heal the injuries of allies, though obviously not to the ridiculous extent her own Soul Gem allows her to.

However, this power has a price and a debt attached to it. A common rule with all magical girls from her world is that their power runs on a finite amount, and the longer one goes without a recharge, their Soul Gem will gradually blacken and become weaker, and the holder of the contract will start to suffer from increased mood swings, anger, and despair. A way to delay this loss of energy is by charging a Soul Gem with a Grief Seed from a deceased witch, but the nature of Sayaka's wish means that she has to pay for the happiness she gave Kyousuke with her own despair...as such, Sayaka's Soul Gem will lose energy faster than the average magical girl would. Should the Gem blacken completely, it will burst open and release Sayaka's soul in the form of a witch, transforming into a Grief Seed and leaving her physical body behind forever. There is no way to reverse this process (in canon, at least).

Sayaka is only aware of roughly one fourth of the problems and abilities her contract comes with, but will likely discover more of this as time goes on. Without using her magical girl form, however, Sayaka is no different or any more special than any other middle schooler her age.
Items/Weapons: Soul Gem, CD Player, Baseball Bat
Sample Entry: http://dear-mun.dreamwidth.org/7133384.html
Sample Entry Two: A third person sample of at least two paragraphs: Haven wasn't really a prime vacation spot, Sayaka decided. Or even a 'just stop by for a while and keep moving' kind of place. The dreary atmosphere around the buildings was almost suffocating compared to the clear glass back home, and the sheer emptiness of it all aside from the other residents didn't help much. Not only was this place incredibly creepy and unsettling, but it was boring and stagnant when it wasn't even doing anything. She compared it a little to being trapped in a witch's barrier for months on end, but at least that problem could be solved by killing the witch...and that wasn't even considering the other ways into different parts of the city.

Walking down the street with obvious tension and unease, Sayaka would come to a stop around the billboard showing the two smiling faces looking down at her from the visors of their gas masks. Attempting to ease the atmosphere a little, she'd puff her cheeks at the billboard and point accusingly at it. "Hey! What do you think you're looking at, huh?!" While this was meant to make herself look and feel brave, she quickly realized how stupid she looked yelling at a billboard. "Aha...this place is really getting to me..." She'd say with a nervous laugh and a sigh as she rubbed the side of her head a little, feeling like someone, somewhere was laughing at her for that. Still, the atmosphere of eerie silence and constant paranoia was starting to drive her crazy. It wouldn't be long before she'd start accusing trash cans of plotting sinister things.

Alright, she knew that wasn't true, but darn it she needed to think about a bright side to all of this -somehow-.

"Okay! I'm sick of wasting time out here. I'm a magical girl now, so I should be trying to find a way out of here and save everyone," Sayaka would declare, gradually reducing her voice to a mumble before her hand made a fist. "Right. First stop, the subway!" She'd add before running off in the general direction of the tunnels. It probably wasn't going to work or give her new information, she felt, but would quickly push those thoughts aside. Because she felt she could accomplish anything if she just pushed hard enough. Everyone else was just too quick to give up on their escape attempts. If they were brought here, Sayaka decided, she could definitely find a way out.

Inwardly, she couldn't think too much about being far from home without feeling sick. If nothing else, she could forget about it for a little while this way.

Totooria Helmold | Atelier Totori: Adventurer of Arland | Not Reserved

[personal profile] tehkev 2013-03-28 06:54 am (UTC)(link)

Personality:
Totori grows up over the game. That is the key point to keep in mind when you see her. Originally, Totori was a very timid, introverted girl who had little confidence and could barely talk to new people without feeling awkward. In fact even those she knew well she would sometimes become a awkward turtle around. Yet due to her experiences over the years, Totori grows from a timid introverted girl, to... ... well, a slightly timid and more outgoing one! It's a change that takes a year or two, really. It doesn't just suddenly happen, she changes over time. At the start of the game she is only 13, while at the end she's 19. The time I'm taking her from, she's been 16 for a while. So yes, she matures (mentally) quite a bit. Sadly she doesn't grow much.

Despite maturing though... a good deal of her personality remains the same even as she grows. While Totori is often quite normal in some areas, shrieking at scary things, yelling when she's angry... Many points of her stand above the rest. Totori can be crazy stubborn once she decides to do something. Be it simply going to the city to become an adventurer, or to go face a ultimate evil being who terrorized a village and has never once been defeated... She'll face both of these situations with a thick enough skull that not even a bomb exploding in her face would make her change her mind.

Stubborn as she may be... Totori is also quite quick to backpedal if she hurts someones feelings. This happens with alarming frequency, as the girl just has a very bad habit of putting her foot in her mouth, or blurting out the entirely wrong thing at the exact moment it would have maximum impact on someone. There has been slight improvement on this, yet all the same it's not exactly the kind of thing she can just phase out. In all likelihood, she got that trait from her mother.

Now even with Totori growing from a little girl to a near adult over the course of the game... Totori is still quite childish. Not just in her petite appearance, either. When a girl who follows her home starts living with her, she pouts and gets jealous of how she gets her sister and teachers attention... Going so far as to even yell at her a little, even if she immediately feels awful about it and runs away from the scene before being comforted shortly after.

There are a few more Very Important things to keep in mind when it comes to Totori as well. She loves cute things. As in she'll become almost an entirely different person if something super cute appears before her. Though in some instances what she considers cute is a tad worrying... Such as the time she fawned over a human sized venus fly trap. Even going so far to say it was adorable after she gave it a bug to eat.

Finally, while largely timid and quiet, even after growing up... When Totori wants to get things done, she gets them done! Her time as an adventurer, along with all the effort she put into her alchemy... both of these practices have made her not only brave in the face of most dangers (even if she'll be a little scared at first) it has just made her have a good deal of confidence in her established skills. While she wouldn't be one to brag about herself like she's the best ever, she does have enough confidence to approach situations she has skills that can help in with her head held high. ... though she might falter just as easily. It depends. Either way, regardless of her confidence level, Totori is always eager and excited to go out on adventures. Since for her... getting to go out and adventure was the biggest first step in growing up.

Abilities/Powers: Totori is an alchemist! This mean she can make a lot of strange and unusual things. While this requires a cauldron to mix everything in, it is a skill she could make use of if she can... well, get a cauldron? Or a very close equivalent. That would obviously take some effort, but she's pretty dang good at it. And she can make stuff out of almost anything.

And as an alchemist, she has a fancy alchemist staff, and more importantly, a rather large Basket/Bag of Holding that can in-game hold up to 60 things in it. So she always has a nice stash of supplies on her. It is mostly things like bombs of varying types, or elixirs and pills that heal wounds, along with a handful of ingredients. It also has a few select "Adventurer items" which would help her get around faster... But those wouldn't really work all that well. I'll do my best to manage her usage of these things, since in-game they are limited use.

However, Totori is also an adventurer. While not the toughest one out there as she still needs people to shield her from damage, she can dish out a pretty mean blow with her alchemist staff. So despite her petite appearance, she packs a mean wallop if she swings her staff at someone. It's enough to easily knock out basic monsters in one swing, so if she were attacked, she could probably brain someone with it to defend herself.

Also, she's capable of doing some quick and dirty on-the-spot "Item Duplication" which involves her making a exact replica of an item, only at lower effectiveness. This only applies to things she knows how to make in the first place, yet it's still worth noting as it's essentially her most powerful 'skill' outside of alchemy.

Items/Weapons:
- Her alchemist staff!
- A Runestone (an accessory)
- Her ingredient basket, which is described above.

*A rather oddly angled video feed comes onto the network, as a young looking girl appears upside down on it. There is some obvious panic in her expression as she realizes she's not holding it properly, letting out a tiny gasp before she adjusts it so she's right-side-up. Still a tad off center though.*

Um... Hello everyone! I hope I'm using this right... This place is kind of scary, isn't it? It reminds me a lot of all the ruins I used to explore back home... It's like a big, expansive village! ... or, um... it used to be one?

*Totori lets out a sheepish little laugh, not sure what to describe it as.*

Yet even if it's scary... It's amazing! *Her eyes light up suddenly, the gleam of excitement filling them.* I've never seen buildings like these! Even if they're all run down... I really want to go out there and explore them! There's bound to be all kinds of things to gather out there... I wonder if there are any ingredients? Do you think there are monsters? Uuu... There's always monsters in ruins like this...

*The tiny alchemist lets out a sigh. All that hype she was building up for herself. She looks into the phone with a bit of a pleading look now.*

If... If it's not too much trouble, could I maybe ask someone to accompany me? I... I promise I won't be a burden! I can defend myself! Just... um... I'm not that strong physically, so... If anyone is willing, could you meet me out front of... um... what did he call it... the... apairment building? I'll be waiting! Or, um... If you want something in exchange for accompanying me, we can work something out... But I'll be waiting outside either way...!

*With a small bow-- which is somewhat ruined, as she moves the whole phone as she does-- she presses a few random buttons on the phone, looking panicked before it eventually turns off.*

Sample Entry Two: (This is the sample I used for the last game I played her at, I hope it's okay to reuse it?)

Totori wouldn't cry.

There was a time where if she had been thrust into this strange place as suddenly as she had been Rapture, without anyone she knows with her... Her first reaction would be to let out a wail of grief and more than a little horror. Actually, it would more be out of loneliness than anything else.

However, that was a good 5 years ago. After everything she had experienced, everyone she met, every single thing that happened between the time she began her earnest effort to be an adventurer... Breaking down into tears would be poor form! There might be braver and tougher adventurers out there, yet Totori was definitely going to be one of those brave ones today. Even if she had arrived by falling flat on her face.

So here she was, at the Welcome Center to a strange and unusual city... A city that despite her brief time here thus far, she had figured out was underwater. Which while amazed her when she first saw it, also had her... quite worried. How does such a place even exist?! It looks like it's powered by some kind of strange alchemic devices... or machines? Machines was likely the answer, yet Totori didn't know nearly enough about those to figure a single bit of this out. Which simply left her staring in wonder at the vast city before her... The view outside from the glass was amazing. It would have taken her breath away if she wasn't already a bit out of it due to the shock of everything.

"This is a lot to take in..."

Totori found herself muttering as she watched some fish swim by the glass... Lights were flicking on and off around the city as she took it all in. She looked like a tourist who was on her first trip from the country to see the big city full of neon lights. Which wasn't entirely inaccurate, considering neon lights don't even exist where she comes from. Still, all this... It was new... Unusual... ... exciting. Even if she felt a little scared... Even if she felt alone... There were other people here in the same situation as her. That meant she wasn't really alone.

That was when Totori realized she had been smiling since she got her first look at the city proper.

"It... It's going to be like a brand new adventure...!"

If the alchemist had worries, she decided to push them aside for now. For now... it was time to explore this strange and beautiful place called Rapture.

Personality: On the surface, Apollo appears… Well, frankly, how he appears depends entirely upon what mood he’s in. He describes himself as “capricious”, which is a startlingly accurate self-assessment. His mood can change in the blink of an eye, and he can go from violent and angry to amused to thoughtful in mere moments, depending on the situation.

Though all of the gods of his universe are unable to tell lies, Apollo is one of the more honest of them. He shows his annoyance and pleasure in equal measure, and when asked a question, he usually answers it instead of just ignoring it, even if his answers are unpleasant to hear. Compared to the incredibly cryptic Hades and the usually silent Zeus, he’s fairly open, even if his answers are often long and complicated. He spends a lot of time thinking through philosophy to while away the time.

Due to his own straightforward nature, he really dislikes people behaving in ways he doesn’t understand. Cryptic people push his buttons and make him uncomfortable, and people who are too stupid to realize what needs explaining irritate him. His temper is rather bad, especially in regards to not being able to understand things or feeling as though he has been insulted. When angry, he yells at the top of his lungs, demanding that the insult be corrected or taken back. This shows that although he is supposedly on a greater level than humans, Apollo somewhat insecure. He is very defensive over not being treated seriously and thinking he’s being made fun of, especially by mortals, whom he thinks of as worms.

He is, on the other hand, very fond and amused by people even more straightforward than he is. People getting ineffectually angry at him and still showing it make him laugh. He finds people who are honest to the point of naiveté endearing, as well. Due to his never-ending boredom, people like these are rare and precious to him, and he is very loyal to them, even if he tends to show it through insults and teasing.

Being a god and generally unable to comprehend many things about human life, he has almost no moral code. He has gone to the point of trying to see if he could end the world by bringing down Zeus, just to ease the tedium. He has no problem trapping a human boy in a garden alone for thousands of years just to bait Zeus and give himself something to do. At the same time, though, he is not universally dangerous, as he can sit side by side a mortal and talk to them for days without ever wanting to hurt or be cruel to them. Apollo simply does what will help entertain himself, and he does not really care about the cost of doing so.

Abilities/Powers: Apollo is a god. As such, he has a very long list of abilities inherent to his species. Like all the gods of his world, he is immortal and eternally young. He does not need to eat or drink, though he can if he chooses to. He is physically incapable of lying out loud, though he can withhold information by not saying anything at all or changing the topic. He also has the ability to read the minds of humans, though not of other gods. This ability comes from hearing the prayers of humans, but is not limited to thoughts directed solely at the gods or wishes.

He has the ability transport himself instantly to any place he likes with just a thought, and he can carry others with him, as well, provided he kiss them first. (It’s unknown why this is needed to bring someone along, however.) With a snap of his fingers, he can also make things vanish from existence, effectively killing them. He has the ability to knock over buildings with a flick of his finger, and he can defy gravity with ease, simply floating in the air whenever he doesn’t want to touch the ground, which is often.

Because he represents the sun, Apollo has the ability to manipulate light. His specialty is creating a light so bright and hot that it incinerates its target instantly, but is controlled enough that it won’t burn anything else. He can also use it to change his appearance to look like any person he chooses, though he rarely ever does so.

Finally, he has the ability to create anything he desires, mostly is mostly weapons and jewelry, from thin air. He can just as easily dismiss them from existence, which he usually does when he bothers to create weapons for fun. He almost never uses this power, because he sees little need for material things.

Items/Weapons: Apollo doesn’t keep much, so he’ll only be arriving with his clothes and the gold jewelry he wears.

Sample Entry: Musebox thread.

Sample Entry Two: Boring. That was the main thought running through Apollo’s head at the moment. This place, these people, were all boring. Nothing was catching his attention for even a moment. With a sigh, he placed his head in his hand, looking out over the people wandering around below the staircase he sat on the edge of, legs dangling in the air.

After some time, he finally grew bored of only watching. If something amusing wasn’t going to show itself to him, he’d just have to hunt it down. With a grin, he stepped off of the staircase, hovering in the air in front of the first stranger he saw.

“You there! Tell me something. Do you have a wish that you want granted?”

Of course, even if Apollo had the means to grant a wish, he had no desire to. But seeing people try to grasp at hope so desperately always made for a good laugh. They’d do anything for it, really, and that was what made them so amusing and pathetic, at the same time.
With one hand on his hip, he offered the other out to the human, as if to seal a pact. His grin never faltered as he continued to play at being a fairy god mother, or something along those lines.

“If you make a pact with me and can complete the task I give you, I will grant it for you! What do you say to that?”
