Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

To see what we are looking for:

Items/Weapons: The Ring (without the Yami Bakura spirit inside), a small backpack, a spare set of loose clothes.

Sample Entry: This thread takes place after he's already confessed to the murder, and Rin was trying to convince them to vote for somebody else instead.

Sample Entry Two:

Ryou felt sick to his stomach. The worst part of this place was definitely the fact he couldn't write letters to Amane in Heaven. He couldn't just leave it at that though, she might get worried if he stopped, or what if she thought he didn't care any more? He couldn't do that.

So Ryou went throughout the apartment block, slipping quietly past groups of people with a set of makeshift toys in hand. Any questions were deflected with a sweet smile and a bow of his head to bid farewell. He walked a little faster then, because he didn't want to be bothered. The problem with this place was that there wasn't anywhere nice that he could go to, so Ryou just had to settle for the best he could find. A quiet area inside that wouldn't be destroyed, that he could lay down the gifts he'd made and send his letters to Amane in the form of a prayer.

It was a little traditional for his tastes, and he couldn't keep it with him like the letters, but it was something.

"Dear Amane..."

Character Name: Wally West (AKA, Kid Flash. Baywatch. Kid Mouth. Miss Manners.)
Canon: Young Justice (animated)
Canon Point: Episode 1.20, "Coldhearted"
Background/History: Young Justice Wikia.

Personality:

Wally is, first and most obviously, the goofball of the team. If there's a joke to be made about something, he'll make it. This is not to say he can't be serious when the situation calls for it, but hiding behind bad jokes and sarcasm is easier than showing your actual emotions. He often hides behind his status as the class clown so he can keep living in denial over certain things. When Black Canary called him out on his outburst in response to Artemis's "death" in the failed simulation, Wally simply plays it off and jokes about it. She tells him that he is in denial and all he does is shrug and say he's comfortable with that. To be fair, being a teenaged superhero, it's probably easier ignoring feelings in favor of doing the job. Of course, just because Wally jokes about everything doesn't mean he can't express any emotions. On the contrary, if Wally is passionate about something, he'll let you know.

Or if he thinks it will get girls to like him, he'll lie about it. Wally has since grown out of this mostly, but there was a time he would pretend to like things that he otherwise had no interest in in an attempt to get girls to like him. One instance of this happened when the team was investigating the disappearance of Kent Nelson, Wally quickly gets called out on his bullcrap "magic rules" act after his lying nearly gets the team a dip in a pool of molten lava. After being called out, he begrudgingly states that magic cannot and does not exist. Wally believes that all magical acts have some sort of trick behind it. Kaldur'ahm, the team leader, states that Wally doesn't believe magic exists because it's something he cannot comprehend. However, after experiencing being body snatched by an ancient god, Wally doesn't go out of his way to dismiss magic. He may just think of it as another kind of science and is willing to use it when a situation calls for it such as when Zatanna uses a spell on him so he can rescue another team member.

Wally is a science prodigy and was easily able to recreate the experiment that granted his uncle his superspeed. The results of Wally's experiment were a bit different from the original one, but the final product was still basically the same. His knowledge of scientific things has helped the team on more than one occasion. Ranging from being able to recognize the formula for a new strength enhancing drug, building an EMP, and keeping a volcano from erupting. Science is something he has control over, it's, for the most part, something stable and understandable and having something like that in a world constantly in danger of being destroyed can keep a person sane.

Science isn't the only thing Wally has at his side, of course. He is fiercely loyal to his family and friends and has healthy relationships with them. It is shown that Wally and his parents make up one extremely happy family. Wally's parents love and support him, and in return he feels that he's able to tell them anything. He even felt comfortable enough to take Conner/Superboy to his house for a few days after the escape from Cadmus. Wally is close to all the members of his family, of course. His aunt and uncle especially.

Wally is also close to his teammates. As the series goes on they all become more of a unit and get better at working with their collective strengths and weaknesses. Of course, Wally gets along better with some members of the team than he does others. Robin/Dick Grayson, is Wally's best friend in the entire universe. Their bromance can actually be seen from space. The two of them often joke around with one another and Wally is even, currently, the only member of the team who knows Robin's true identity. Wally being so loyal to his friends is actually one of the main reasons he didn't get along with Artemis at first. He believed that her joining the team, meant that they were replacing and trying to push out Speedy/Red Arrow/Roy, and Wally was quick to let his friend know that if the team had a quota on archers that they would pick Roy over Artemis. Eventually Wally and Artemis act more amicable to one another, and they only bicker occasionally rather than being at each other's throats constantly. The mission gone wrong in Bialya even showed that the two of them could have started out as friends if they had met under different circumstances.

After the mission in the Bialyan desert goes wrong, Kid Flash finds Artemis unconscious and offers to help her. He spends the majority of the day keeping them out of danger, even when he starts to run dangerously low on energy. Wally is more than willing to put his life on the line to save someone, even someone he barely knows. Wally can express compassion as well, this is seen when he comforts Artemis when she's worried about M'gann poking around in their minds.

Even with all of his confidence, Wally still feels self conscious on occasion. He's not as fast as the Flash, and he doesn't even have all the same abilities. He has to eat constantly just so he can use his powers and function properly. He's worried that others don't take him seriously as a protege for these reasons. At his core, though, Wally West is just trying to be one of the good guys. He may crack bad jokes, talk too much, and just generally say the wrong things at the wrong times, but he's still good. He aspires to be a hero just like his mentor. Wally feels good about being good and helping people.

Abilities/Powers:

Wally has super speed. What that basically means is that he can move really, really fast. How fast he can go is never stated exactly, but just shy of breaking the sound barrier is a good estimate. He uses his speed in a variety of ways: creating small tornadoes, ramming himself into enemies, and eating an entire tub of ice cream in under a minute.

He also has very high endurance, which allows him to take blows and recover quickly, and supercharged brain activity, basically meaning that he can think much faster than a normal person. Wally has also been shown to possess some basic gymnastics skills, able to do flips and handsprings at high speeds. He is stronger than the average person his age, being able to pick up and carry people bigger than him without issue. Additionally, he knows basic hand to hand skills, and is seen punching and kicking enemies.

As mentioned before, Wally has an affinity for all things scientific and is knowledgeable enough to create and recreate complicated experiments.

Being a speedster, he, of course, has common speedster weaknesses. Wally's metabolism is hyper-accelerated, which means that he has to eat a lot to maintain energy. If he runs low on energy he becomes sluggish and slightly less coordinated than usual. For occasions when he will be out for more than 24 hours, Wally has a secret compartment in his glove for snacks. Kid Flash, unlike his mentor, needs to be able to accelerate and decelerate when running, if he tries to stop abruptly it results in falling, crashing into things, and hurting himself. He also is susceptible to normal everyday human weaknesses, being that he is still human and everything. He can still get cuts, bruises, and broken bones, but he does heal slightly faster than normal humans do.

His Kid Flash suit also does a few things worth mentioning. The suit has shoulder pads and other body protectors to help cushion Kid Flash when he rams himself into enemies and his gloves come with small compartments for holding snacks. The insignia on his chest doubles as stealth tech and, when pressed, changes the suit into either a black and gray color scheme for covert ops missions, or a white and light gray color scheme for missions in snowy places. Which has been helpful exactly zero times, but hey. Wally also has specially made goggles that protect his eyes from debris while running, work as binoculars, and can even see different light spectrums.

Items/Weapons:

(+) His standard Kid Flash suit
(+) His goggles
(+) His winning personality???

Sample Entry: Here is a recent thread + post!

Sample Entry Two: Here is a recent log. And Also another sample just in case:

This could not be happening. It just couldn't. Being pulled into some weird city that looks like it's falling apart? He could handle that. He's been through worse. Well, actually he hasn't, not really. Wally can keep his chin up though. Not that he has much of a choice in the matter, but even so he's not going to curl up somewhere and wither away. If everyone else can cope with the day to day in this place, then so can he. That's not what the problem is.

The problem is that Wally has lost some things very important to him. He's been driving himself crazy all morning trying to find them and if they don't show up soon Wally is going to start doing surprise room inspections.

Wally gets up from the floor after he's done checking under his bed. He sighs and rubs a hand across his face. It's not that the items he lost were particularly valuable, but they were really important! Not only for him, but also for everyone around him. For hygiene and all of that. So, really, he cannot comprehend why someone would just take his clean underwear like it was no big deal.

"I hope you made sure they fit first!"

He flops back on his bed and stares at some spot on the ceiling. This is officially the worst day ever.

Rogue | Marvel Comics | Reserved 2/3

[personal profile] powerdrain 2014-07-12 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Raised by her Aunt Carrie after tragedy befell her parents, young Anna Marie ran away from home and was taken in by Mystique and Destiny, whom Rogue came to regard as her surrogate parents. Rogue's mutant power first manifested in her early teens when she kissed Cody Robbins. Her mind filled with his memories, and he fell into a permanent coma. Eventually realizing she could never safely live among normal people, Rogue began participating in her foster mother's criminal endeavors and came to join Mystique's terrorist Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Rogue, as her name implies, is defined by her rebellious nature. Understanding young Rogue is easy for anyone who's ever been a teenager: she reacted predictably to the strict environment she grew up in by running away and falling in with a bad group of people. After absorbing Ms. Marvel's psyche, and feeling distraught over her lack of control, Rogue turned to the X-Men, where she has been ever since.

Rogue is a strong willed and down to earth woman who has no shame in her game. She knows how to work her charm-- how to "flaunt it if you got it". She's fiery, passionate, strong-willed and independent. She is a true maverick among the X-Men: someone who unquestionably belongs on the team and is comfortable there, but has never stopped being her own woman and following her own instincts. There's a limit to how far you could ever get her to tow the company line, whatever that happened to be, as Cyclops found during the events of Second Coming. She is the southern bombshell who over time has become one of the team's most valued members--she's deeply woven into fabric of the team, proving that wrongdoers can live down the mistakes of their pasts and mutants whose powers have estranged them from the rest of the world can transcend their limits and find control and, in the process, community.

What's most important to Rogue is people. Her personal loves and loyalties are the very essence of her, as well as what motivates her to push through the hard times. Though she had to learn reserve and containment over many years, because of how her powers worked, the passion that underlies that self-control is immense. The guy who wrote X-Men: Schism said it best: "Like all true southerners, she just wants some peace and quiet... and the occasional opportunity to beat someone up."

Being raised by super villains and becoming a villain herself has influenced the decisions Rogue has made has an X-Man. When she was a member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, she fought and permanently absorbed the memories, powers, and psyche of Ms. Marvel. This action ruined both women's lives permanently. It was also what prompted Rogue to join the X-Men in the first place. Messing up is the privilege of the young. Rogue doesn't bear the terrible burden of guilt for the time she spent in the Brotherhood, as much as she is grateful for the second chance to re-invent and redefine herself. More importantly, she cherishes being able to extend the same opportunity to others just like her. The emotional distance she's had to deal with due to the requirement of physical distance is nothing short of torment. Even among the X-Men, she was dealt a bad hand. At the same time, people know that and respect that about her-- if not admire her. It's that inspiration she offers to the new generation as a veteran X-Man.

Rogue is too strong of a character to be defined by her love interests, but her notorious bad boy syndrome is difficult to ignore. Many potential love interests (all snubbed out quickly for the obvious reason) have come and gone in Rogue's life, but the two most notable examples are Gambit and Magneto. She's not even slightly defined by the man's she with, however. A big part of Rogue's character is that she's such a touchstone for other characters, especially the ones who love her. Her own nature is vivid and indelible, passionate and stubborn, that it's difficult for them to make a mark on her-- which is ironic considering the nature of her powers.

Her charm wins over everyone. She's charismatic. But having said that, she doesn't depend on peoples' good opinions of her. She has and always will do what feels right to her, and doesn't need to seek approval from anyone.

[personal profile] powerdrain 2014-07-12 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Abilities/Powers: Rogue is a mutant, and is naturally endowed with superpowers as a result.

Power Absorption: Rogue can absorb the powers, energies, memories, knowledge, talents, personality and physical abilities (whether superhuman or not) of another human being (or members of some sentient alien races) through physical contact of her skin with the skin of the other person. She is not limited to absorbing superhuman abilities: for example, she has absorbed the strength, agility, and sharp reflexes of an enhanced human. She can also absorb psionic abilities. In absorbing another persons memories Rogue also gains the emotional responses connected to them. For the transfer of abilities to be accomplished, Rogue’s skin must contact the skin of her victim. Rogue can only absorb abilities and memories from living organic beings. She can possess the powers of several superhuman persons at once. No upper limit has yet been determined for the number of superhuman beings whose power she can maintain simultaneously, or for the amount of power that she can absorb. Rogue can even absorb gross physical characteristics from a victim. Her physical appearance does not change when she absorbs abilities and memories from a normal looking human being. The victim's abilities and memories are absorbed for a time sixty times longer than the period of time Rogue was in physical contact with that person. Those touched are rendered unconscious by contact with her, though some beings, including Juggernaut and Mojo have resisted this effect. While for most of her life, her use of this power was involuntary, Rogue has recently gained full control over it.

This transfer is usually temporary, lasting for a period of time relative to how long contact is maintained, but the transfer may become permanent in certain cases. For example, she absorbed Ms. Marvel's powers permanently due to unknown reasons (Ms. Marvel's strange mix of human and Kree DNA may have had something to do with it) and she absorbed Sunfire's powers permanently when she absorbed the last of his life force by accident. Most often the process happens instantly when Rogue touches someone, but in certain instances where a being has possessed an extraordinary level of power they are able to resist her, and she may only share part of their memories and power.

Her power is proved to be lethal. Mutants are proved to be stronger than humans because mutants have mutated genetics, which means that her power does less lethal effects for most mutants than humans. Her flirt, Cody Robbins, was put into a coma for years. If she had touched Cody a bit longer, he have died then. It proves that if she touches her victim too long, she may kill her victim because of too much loss of energies due to the absorption, except if she voluntarily kills her victim with her deadly touch. Although mutants are stronger than humans, she can still voluntarily kill mutants with her deadly touch as she wishes. Although currently her power absorption power is much more controllable as she activates it by her own will because of her contact with Hope Summers, she can still make her touch lethal for her enemies but not lethal to her friends and/or allies.

As Rogue is absorbing the total psyche of a person, there is a risk of a personality overwhelming her and taking control of her body, including Spiral and Mr. Sinister who both proved to be the dominant personality. It has also been shown that even though Rogue forgets the memories she has absorbed when a psyche returns to its body, 'echoes' of their personalities remain buried in her mind.

Rogue is able to absorb psyches and abilities of several beings at once, though the experience can be confusing and disorienting for her.

Robotic beings are mostly immune to her power. Depending on the amount of organics left, she can usually affect cyborgs. She seems able to affect techno-organic beings. Powerful enough beings can withstand her touch and attempt to impose their own will on her or cause a feedback loop.

Although she is capable of absorbing his powers, Colossus in metal form was able to make physical contact with her with no ill effects in one issue. However, Rogue has shown the ability to absorb him while he is in metal form in various other issues.

During X-Men Legacy, her powers were greatly enhanced by Pandemonium. Her powers returned to their normal levels after the mutant baby touches her in X-Men: Messiah Complex. This also returned her mental status to normal, as the baby purged all previous templates and mental impressions from her being. It appears after the events in X-Men Legacy that Rogue is now able to voluntarily use her powers, now kissing Gambit and not hurting him or absorbing his powers. This appears to be because, before Professor Xavier helped her break them down, her power had formed many mental walls within her mind every time she used her abilities. As such her powers were crippled in their development freezing them in their nascent stage which severely limited Rogue's control. Yet when she, Gambit and Danger fought Ares in Utopia, her power absorption was still strong enough to weaken Ares some level for Gambit to give the final blow, hinting that she can finally control her lethal touch to be very deadly for enemies without hurting her friends. She later uses the much more lethal version of her powers against the Avengers during her fight with the Avengers to defend Jean Grey School from Avengers' invasion, even making Falcon and She-Hulk immediately unconscious without any negative feedback on herself (besides the green skin from She-Hulk), stealing their powers and rendering them unconscious for quite a long time as she stated herself as "so it's time to get old school".

A new twist in Rogue's powers consists of prompting her victims of her skin-to-skin contact, for a consent on the process. Rogue's victim can either resist the absorption and suffer, like originally with Rogue's powers, or instead submit to the absorption, and so the process instead becomes entirely fluent without consequences. Rogue has used this twist extensively in the Legacy series; just two examples of it are when aiding the victims of a subway collapse absorbing all rescuers' abilities in X-Men Legacy 274, and also when quenching a riot in a prison of mutants absorbing the existence of some mutant-volunteers in X-Men Legacy 275.

Character Name: Lilith
Canon: Supernatural
Canon Point: Before her death, end of Season 4
Background/History: http://www.supernaturalwiki.com/index.php?title=Lilith#History
Previous Game History: N/A
Personality: Lilith is a woman of multiple facets to her character. On the outset, she feigns a great deal of friendliness and warmth to those she meets. This is her means of catching them off guard. She has a certain desire to toy with her victims, viewing it as polite and good. When she is provoked, rather than flying into a rage, Lilith will become cold and silent, striking out at her victims in precise movements that go for the heart. Her preferred method of torture is to use something painful (a memory, etc) against others. For example, she used the dead that Dean and Sam could not save to torment them.

She is master strategist, able to out fox the angels and hunters in her game. She is always one step ahead and takes everything into consideration. Lilith views her work as artistry, preferring to see her carnage and chaos as fun. More than anything, she enjoys simply reveling in the pain that she causes.

She does have mercy and compassion, but it is hard to trigger and often comes in twisted versions of what true mercy is. Such as sparing a victim for last, as she is "saving a life." Her allegiance isn't technically to Lucifer, it is to herself first. It's why she offered Sam help and agreed to not break the seals, looking to save her life.

However much a demon can love (beyond themselves), Lilith loved Crowley and Lucifer. One being her father and creator, the other her friend, lover and companion. Lucifer was her creator, but on the whole, hated demons. It is likely she felt a similar need to gain her father's attention. By serving Lucifer, Lilith was being his dutiful and loving daughter. This, I think, was her driving factor in facing her death (though she fought against it for so long.)

What's more, she took a two bit tailor from the 17th century and made him into something more powerful. Out of all the demons of Hell, she chose him to serve at her side. This indicates there was a great deal of trust and similarity in ambition and drive between them. Lilith, much like Crowley, has a system of honor and order (also having the allotted time frame until contracts with cross roads demons expire.) Despite what Sam said, I believe Lilith honors her deals. This is something she shares with Crowley. Furthermore, she has a system in which to achieve things. She isn't about seizing and taking like Abaddon. She has an elegant dance and a true enjoyment in the slow pleasure of torturing others.

Crowley and Lilith were lovers, though neither monogamous. She likely was with him up until her death, perhaps her longest and most solid relationship (as not many others are mentioned). It's possible she didn't trust anyone else (aside from Ruby) the way she trusted Crowley. That to me indicates there was a deep feeling for him, even if it wasn't complete love, it was a reliance and need.

Her relationship with Lucifer is debatable. While she loyally followed his wishes and desires, Lilith did have moments of obvious doubt. Her main objection being that she would die and miss the fun of the apocalypse. It is possible (as Lucifer never cared for Demons) that Lilith's relationship with him mirrored his own relationship with God. Both viewed with disgust and placed lower than another group of species. Whereas Lucifer had to contend with humans, Lilith had to contend with angels.

She is an effective manager, keeping Hell in line for all the time that she ran it. It is only after her death that it eventually fell to Crowley's control and became a civil war between Abaddon and Crowley. Before, the demons obediently followed and feared her. She was their overlord and many refused to speak against her, even while Sam and Dean were trying to locate who held the contracts.

As a whole, I see Lilith as a stoic woman. A queen in control of her situations and always looking for an outcome that benefits her first. She is loyal to causes that interest her and serves with her full abilities.

Abilities/Powers:
- Lilith feeds on babies and sex.
- Being the first demon created, Lilith is far more powerful than most demons.
- Superhuman strength
- Superhuman durability
- Telekinetic - Allows her to influence objects or people with her mind.
- Can emanate a demonic white blast of energy from her palm that can decimate structures, destroy supernatural creatures along with humans.
- Lilith can force a demon from its human host and reclaim its body by re-possessing it.
- Command demons
- She can bear contracts of deals made and make deals herself.
- Control over hellhounds.

Weaknesses
- It is implied that Ruby's knife can at least harm her.
- She can be killed by Sam (only when he has consumed vast amounts of demon blood).
Items/Weapons: Just the dress on her back
Sample Entry:
http://first-demon.dreamwidth.org/11432.html
Sample Entry Two:
Lilith opened the vessel's eyes, rising to her feet as she got her bearings, adjusting to the meatsuit and the sudden possession. The woman had seemed innocent enough, walking home after a date, full of excitement and desire. She would do as well as any other brief stop over. More than anything, Lilith needed a moment to gather her thoughts and regroup.

Her plans had been waylaid, disrupted by Dean Winchester's appearance with that rather pathetic looking prophet. Summoning an archangel? It was rather pathetic and under handed, but enough for her to have to admit defeat, which in itself was vexing.

Now what would she do?

This had been fun and amusing in the beginning. What demon wouldn't relish the chance to cause torment and chaos? Breaking the seals required blood and creative torture, it was art, slowly shaping into Lilith's true masterpiece. Certainly her work with the Witnesses would leave a lasting impression, much like Rodin's The Gates of Hell or the Last Supper? People would be talking about it for centuries.

But slowly and slowly, it was becoming more and more apparent that the fun was coming to an end. Lilith shook her head, leaning back against the tree as she stared ahead in contemplation. What had she said to Sam only moments before?

"Killed off right before the good part."

It was true, as much as she had ignored it before. She was going to be destroyed and would miss all the fun.

Lucifer ordered it and she would obey, or she had, enjoying the prospect of torture and pain that she would inflict. But where in this did she have loyalty? A desire to see her father lay waste to her followers, all in a twisted sense of revenge against his Father. That's what this was all about, getting back at Daddy.

So where did this leave her? A puppet in his games? As she was in the beginning. Did it even matter? What choice did she have at this point? There was no going back. Not to the beginning of everything and not to a place where the Winchesters had even heard of her. She was marked for death, whether she followed through with the plan or not. In the end, she could accept it and finish her work with one last grand tableau...or she could be a coward and run.

She smiled, brushing back the hair of her meatsuit. If anything else, this would show the Winchesters that she never loses. Not even in death would they defeat her. That was something, at least.

Re: William T. Spears | Kuroshitsuji | No Reserve

[personal profile] has_too_many_moles 2014-07-12 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: William is a very serious person; he is highly principled, competent and uncompromising. He believes bringing emotions to the job is not beneficial to work and such an avoidable disruption is unnecessary. He highly frowns upon rule breaking, as it reflects poorly upon his department and also violates his sense of perfectionism. Apologizing to a demon for Grell Sutcliffe's behavior during the Jack the Ripper arc is an example of him forfeiting his personal dislikes just to save face for his department. He follows the rules completely and expects others to do so as well.

William has a fine eye for detail--almost too keen a set of eyes if you ask his co-workers. Ronald Knox even mentioned at the end of the Circus arc that William is hardly ever pleased by anyone. Due to being a perfectionist, if anything seems to be out of order, it triggers his need to fix it. This can be beneficial for all concerned, but it can also prove to be burdensome to those who are on the receiving end of William's efforts. Because he believes so thoroughly in his convictions, William is an excellent leader. Unfortunately, William has a hard time relaxing and he unnecessarily denies himself a lot of things just because he is worried about his work.

William is a perfectionist, and he desires to constantly reform and improve. He is an idealist who strives to make order out of the chaos that demons and other things are constantly causing. William is also a workaholic--everything he does is somehow related to his work. He is often the first one to be found in the office and the last one to leave it as well, often earning himself excess overtime. When William is placed in a situation which is unfamiliar (and therefore uncomfortable) to him, he automatically tries to find something that he can relate to. Any set of rules especially would put him at ease and provide him with the stability to survive in the new surroundings.

William's inability to achieve the perfection he desires feeds his feelings of shame for not being able to complete his goal, and fuels his subdued anger against his imperfect world. William's anger is therefore vigorously repressed from his consciousness, often written off as being unnecessary. However, on occasion it bursts forth in fits of temper often directed at the one who causes the most trouble. For example, in the Jack the Ripper arc where William found himself needing to rescue Grell from Sebastian, William appeared to personally inflict as much damage upon Grell as he could while he calmly read of the list of rules that Grell had broken, finishing his lecture by dragging Grell away by the hair. He has little patience for personalities that hinder the order of life, prime examples being Sebastian or Grell.

William's stiff personality prevents him from interacting with people in and out of work, and in turn makes others generally disinclined to interact with him. He has an extreme, almost childish devotion to his own personal space, and that only adds to his poor social skills. He has difficulty blending well into a crowd, even when undercover. Since he often represses his emotions, it is hard for him to express his emotions even when it is appropriate to do so. Nervousness especially he finds he cannot express, and swallows it down immediately. William also finds it difficult to make friends, let alone pursue a romantic relationship, because of his stunted relationship with his own emotionality.

William is not very skilled at lying, and will speak of his job easily and off-handedly, despite needing to maintain a low profile. Oddly enough, most do not take him seriously and think he is joking. William lacks the social skills needed to understand humor, let alone to intentionally be humorous. He also does not have very much empathy due to being trained to be a death god--a being that maintains order among disorder. Disorder and chaos compromise their work and empathy can cloud his judgement. Given that background, faced with something that does not fit the rules or adhere to any similar sort of conformity, William would do his best to either make the issue orderly or, if that proved impossible, avoid it at all costs. Thankfully, William is not the sort to give in easily, so he puts his all into resolving an issue before giving up.

Abilities/Powers: All reapers possess the following abilities.

Most of William's abilities relate to his death scythe; a long metal rod with a clamp at one end and a grip handle at the other. He uses his death scythe to attack, defend, collect souls, and activate cinematic records. It also has the unique ability to extend great distances; the farthest seen is from the roof of Baron Kelvin's manor, which could measure possibly twenty feet. He is never seen without his scythe and uses it for a variety of mundane purposes other than reaping such as adjusting his glasses or balancing on a tight rope. His scythe is more of an extension of his hand.

William has superb agility, reflexes, and skills using staff-like weapons.

William also has been seen using birds as messengers.

Items/Weapons: 1) His Death Scythe 2) His Collection book 3) A Gaudy Circus Suit

Sample Entry: [At first the camera is zoomed in a little too close, the corner of a frown the center of the focus before it zooms out to reveal a better image of William.]

Good day to those that are watching this. My name is William T. Spears, I am one of the newly arrived citizens to this...community of sorts.

[A little fixing to his tie to make sure that it is perfect, which it already was, for this was just a ploy to distract himself from being unnerved at being misplaced.]

I would like to know about any current sense of rules that must be followed here, as well as proper manners that should be displayed. I do not wish to present myself as a fool because of laziness and the inability to gather information about my surroundings. What do they mean that everyone is safe here and by how could they ensure the safety of everyone?

Sample Entry Two:

Carefully and with precise, methodical flicks of a dark blue silk handkerchief, William wiped away the nauseating black and dark green sludge that had splattered across his face. It was the unfortunate result of when he kicked in a head of a rather demanding zombie--one that had the bad sense of timing and unfortunately came across an already foul-tempered management supervisor.

"Note to self: add the cost of dry cleaning and new work shoes to Sutcliffe's bill," William muttered to himself as he used the last clean corner of his favorite handkerchief to clean away the spare flicks of zombie brains off his glasses. Through the now-cleaned lens William's rather sharp bright green eyes could been seen. Some, mostly a lazy and often troublesome rouge field officer, might describe his eyes as being cold and soulless. Looking behind him to inspect the messy path that he had cleared, William finally became alert to the sound of soft moans. At first the demands for a certain sugary confection were too soft and easily ignored as mere white noise, but now they had gradually increased--as if what was making them was even closer--and judging from the echos they were surrounding him.

It was a fluke that he found out that a piece of chocolate would distract the living dead long enough for him to either escape or to forcibly remove them with a well placed kick. As such, when he found himself awakening to the foul odor of the rotting corpse who was searching through his coat pockets and pulling out his stash of chocolate. William was more upset that his personal space was being invaded than the fact that the ones who were doing the invading were long dead humans.

John Winchester | Supernatural | Reserved

Name: Rachel

Contact Info: http://www.plurk.com/rachelmaes1

Other Characters Played: None

Requested apartment: Housing block 28, Apartment 28.3

Character Name: John Winchester

Canon:

Canon Point: 1x22 Devil's Trap, at the time of the car accident

Background/History: A link to a source about the canon is fine for this.

Previous Game History: None

Personality:

John Winchester is a deeply flawed human being. Whatever happiness and light heartedness he once had died the second his wife went up in flames. He hides the pain of losing Mary under a veneer of gruffness. He resorted back to becoming the marine, the soldier. It was easier for him than allowing his emotions to consume and likely destroy him. Even to the point of blocking out any sign of obvious affection and love for his children. The pain and loneliness he felt after Mary were enough to drive him to keep taciturn about his real emotions and thoughts. Rather than openly admitting he is proud of his boys, he prefers to show them by counting on them with certain cases.

He is single minded in his obsession to kill the demon that destroyed his wife. This is his Moby Dick, he is willing to chase the demon to the point of madness, knowing he is likely going to be defeated. While he focuses on other cases, they have only been stepping stones for him, leading up to the final battle. He is well aware that he will die from the demon and is willing to sacrifice himself. His torment and need to protect his children making the sacrifice much easier to bear.

Despite the fact that he is generally harsh and stern, deep down, John genuinely loves his children. They have been the other driving factor of his life. His need to keep them safe went so far that he fought with Sam about his desire to go to college. He was frightened to let his son out of his sight, knowing that he would be without his protection. He said cruel words that drove his son away, but they stemmed from that irrational fear.

Like any parent, he makes mistakes, but he does recognize them and apologize to his sons in time. His desire for some sort of normalcy manifesting itself in his interactions with his youngest son, Adam. However, John always returns to the life of hunting the Supernatural. Beyond the vengeance, he does it for his sons, wanting to see them safe and not resting till they are.

His greatest love was Mary. They didn't like each other much at first, but once a cupid interfered and they were brought together, she was his greatest passion. After her death, he had a few brief affairs, but they never lasted long or meant as much. He wore his ring, even after becoming a widower. In his eyes and heart, he is still married to his wife. The mere mention of her is enough to bring tears to his eyes.

He is passionate about his work, allowing hunting to dictate his life. He is unable to make friends easily, usually preferring to focus on business. Bobby Singer (a long time friend) , remembering when he pulled a gun on John commented that John usually has that effect on people. Not many people talk about him fondly, unless it is about his ability as a hunter.

Only his children speak well of John. Despite all their fights, they have a deep rooted love for each other. Family always comes first.

Abilities/Powers:

Organization, hunting, tracking, military training, research. All the things that make a good hunter.

Items/Weapons: The colt (a revolver that can kill any Supernatural creature), his journal (which lists his experiences hunting Supernatural creatures as well as his research, his wedding ring

Sample Entry: [The last thing he can remember is being in the Impala, feeling the truck slam into his side. The sense of his sons around him. The family together, even in the face of danger. But it's gone now. There is only him, alone.]

This is John Winchester, request immediate assistance. [He looks around, trying to get his bearings. If he had his various gadgets, he'd take his coordinates, but none of them are here.]

I am going to say this once and only once. Where are my boys? Whatever you are, whoever you are. Know that I will find you and I will see you dead. Whatever harm you cause them, you'll feel it inflicted back at you.

[A pause]

Dean? Sammy? Answer me! That's an order!

Sample Entry Two:

Adrenaline is coursing through him as the car begins to speed away. The narrow escape from Azazeal more than close. His body still weakened by the temporary possession. Worst of all, he had been willing to lay down his life, to give up the fight and finally be at rest. He would know the demon was dead and his children were safe.

But Sammy had failed. He had allowed sentimentality to get the better of him and refused to shoot him, even at his urging. Now, there was another stretch of road. Another year ahead of him. Mary would never see justice so long as the demon was out there.

"I’m surprised at you, Sammy. Why didn’t you kill it? I thought we saw eye-to-eye on this? Killing this demon comes first – before me, before everything. " His jaw clenched as he fought the urge to bark at Sam, the usual response when his frustration and fear coursed through him.

"No, sir. Not before everything." John could see the look pass between Sam and Dean. The worse part of it was that he was right. Family always came first, but couldn't they see now that was the point? Why he pursued Azazeal with such a single minded obsession? Family. That was what was important and protecting them was part of that. His sons were all he had left.

So long as the demon existed, Sammy was in danger. He already lost his girlfriend. How long would it be before Dean followed? He couldn't tell them this now, they wouldn't see or hear anything he said. But he wouldn't stop, not until they were safe.

"Look, we’ve still got the Colt. We still have the one bullet left. We just have to start over, alright? I mean, we already found the demon..... " Sam's words cut off as everything faded to black. The truck slamming into the car and knocked John unconscious.

Chōsokabe Motochika | Sengoku Basara | Reserved

Name: Timpeni
Contact Info: [plurk.com profile] Timpeni
Other Characters Played: N/A
Requested apartment: 17.3

Character Name: Motochika Chōsokabe
Canon: Sengoku Basara
Canon Point: His Red Route from the Sengoku Basara 3 game, right before arriving to fight at Sekigahara
Background/History: Wiki Link, but it’s not too much. His Red Route basically goes around ‘oh shit Ieyasu my old bro tore up my home turf Shikoku’ and he gets pretty mad and devastated. Motonari goes ‘you should join with Mitsunari to beat the crap out of Ieyasu’ and despite Motonari being at odds with Motochika for years due to close territories and conflicting personalities, he decides to do it anyway. He also sends a messenger to Ieyasu asking if it was really him who ransacked Shikoku, but the messenger gets unceremoniously killed by Yoshitsugu, who leads Motochika to believe it was one of Ieyasu’s men who did him in. (From here on, this hasn’t yet occurred in his memories:) He then goes to Sekigahara and tearfully faces Ieyasu, ultimately killing him. Spoilers, it was actually Motonari who attacked Shikoku, and he set Motochika up this whole time.

By the way, I’ll be making references to the anime in the personality section- while this isn’t where he’s coming from, they’re the same character and their personalities are the same.

Personality: god what a moron

On a serious note, though- Motochika is a pirate, through and through. He has the title of ‘Demon of the Western Seas’. Why? Because he’s brash, violent, forceful, etc. etc. attributes you would give to a stereotype of a pirate. He robs and runs away when he gets his fill. And he does this, all the while smirking and rearing up for any fights that come his way. He’s a ‘rough & tumble’ kind of guy, but not necessarily too ambitious, like most who lead armies in his era.

Hollering in piratespeak and being a kleptomaniac aside, there’s something important to note about him. Most people with his power would have dreams of conquest and unifying the land under their name- but Motochika? Naw, he just wants to protect what he has. This being Shikoku, his home, and his crew.

Which brings up another point, his crew. He certainly has a big amount of people following him, but just somehow, he’s managed to remember them all by name. He treats them all like friends, probably knowing their personalities, what they like, what they don’t- there’s a reason why they all call him ‘aniki’, which is ‘big brother’. They’re unified (and good at cheering), to the point that when a single messenger dies trying to send a letter to Ieyasu, Motochika’s rage doubles as his crew mourn. You would think the leader of an army would be desensitized to loss, especially when it’s a violent-as-fuck pirate army. But he treats them all like friends and brothers in arms- made purposely to contrast Motonari Mouri, a warlord in the neighboring Chuugoku region. Motonari treats his soldiers like ‘sacrificial pawns’, which Motochika frankly finds absolutely abhorring. In the anime, Keiji outright says this about Motochika: “He’s the nicest guy I’ve met.”

Being a pirate doesn’t mean he’s an asshole. He certainly gives off the impression of a ruffian, but in the end, he’s a good person (with definition of good being ‘has everyone’s best intentions in mind and tries to help as much as he can without taking the easy way out of denying them’). Motochika doesn’t have valiant dreams of ruling the whole nation, even if some people might provoke him to yell that out loud- he really just wants the best for people. Again from the anime, when old men, women and children come to his ship volunteering to fight for him to push back the Mouri and Toyotomi forces, he tells them to stay behind. Because he knows the fight isn’t going to be a bed of roses, and there are places these people need to take care of, and they’re the families of soldiers across the country. Those soldiers need something to return to, and his job is protecting them. Even if it might help him in terms of cannon fodder and numbers, hell no is he dragging along people who don’t even know what they’re getting into. He’s a pirate because fuck you he and his crew live however they want to, but he’s doing it for the thrill of the fight and the joyful atmosphere of his crewship. Not to take over and slaughter.

Motochika isn’t aiming to rule the land, but he knows enough to deduce that some people aren’t fit to do that. Nobunaga Oda, for instance, is a literal demon in Sengoku Basara, and Motochika sends explosives towards him because ew fuck that guy he’s an asshole and no one would be happy under him. Hideyoshi Toyotomi is a power-crazed guy not adverse to slave-driving his army, forsaking emotions in the name of strength- Motochika puts him down on the ‘haha no’ list, too. It’s not only strength that matters- the people do, too. And he has the compassion, along with the determination, to fight back against both of them. (The thing about Basara is that even when you're friends, you end up fighting too, just not to, you know, kill each other. But you can get sliced up pretty good. So Motochika really defaults to fighting as a main form of expression, which probably isn't too healthy. But hey, Basara is a game where forming alliances basically means going to their house and beating the living shit out of them, so no one's healthy here.)

While he’s nice, Motochika isn’t exactly one to use his brain too much. Motochika looks more at what’s in front of him, rather than thinking deeply about things to try to iron out plans. When Shikoku gets devastated and he finds the flag of Ieyasu's army in the mess, he goes 'THAT'S IEYASU'S ISN'T IT HE DESTROYED MY HOME'. Instead of, perhaps, 'THAT'S IEYASU'S ISN'T IT BUT FLAGS ARE EASILY STOLEN AND PLANTED HMMMM'. He uses emotions more than logic to motivate him, a flaw that has led him into trouble a lot of times. He’s confident (to the point of arrogance at some points) about his power, and pretty damn sure he doesn’t need to think this over anymore jeez stop nagging he’s gonna beat them up SO GOOD YOU WON’T EVEN KNOW MAN! While he does have depth as a loyal friend and brother, one mustn’t forget that he’s still a pirate. Motochika still likes to steal stuff and all that- he just doesn’t steal from people who have nothing else, because that’s a crummy thing to do, man. He’s like, Robin Hood, except all the peasants are his crew and himself.

He defaults to trusting people instead of distrusting them, because of his natural bleeding heart and compassion towards others, which leads him to normally lend them the benefit of the doubt. Also, ‘lmao who would be brave enough to lie to the DEMON OF THE WESTERN SEAS’. This is… probably a pretty important point of him, because he’s seriously too trusting. Like, he trusts Motonari Mouri on his Red Route, because Motochika believes his claim that his home Chuugoku was ransacked too and his sympathies + anger + emotions in general lead him to believe the most goddamn untrustworthy person ever. That’s not something a very intelligent person should do. His friend Magoichi slaps him on the head at one point and just mutters 'God, you're thick-headed'. And Motochika goes off to tell Masamune that she hit him on the head 'just because', not understanding she did it because he was being a fucking idiot about deducing who attacked Shikoku.

Which brings me back to Shikoku. This mindset, coupled with fierce loyalty to anyone he’s made his friend before, only serves to hurt him badly when he’s led to believe Ieyasu Tokugawa reduced Shikoku to ruins.

At this point, he’s less of a ‘jolly pirate riding the ways and following his whims’ and more of ‘betrayed hero-figure looking to avenge his comrades’. It’s to be noted that Ieyasu was a dear friend of his, and has never given off the impression of being someone who would attack someone’s home and kill innocent civilians while the army’s back is turned. It shakes his worldview, but not enough to give up his kind heart and easy-to-earn trust. Rather, he actually grew to almost hate Ieyasu, which is something, because he treats everyone like people with multiple dimensions and can’t quite find it in himself to hate anyone. And he still believes Ieyasu is a person, and goddammit he wants to find out the reasons and motivations for his friend to have done what he did.

Except, his emotions and need to avenge those who died at Shikoku eventually cause him to fall for Motonari’s schemes, and instead of seeking out Ieyasu himself, his anger leads him straight to want to murder him at Sekigahara. But still, he’s a person, a former friend… and Motonari does cry when he kills Ieyasu in the end. Also, despite the whole mess his Red Route is, in his other two routes (basically, possible choices he can take), he meets with Ieyasu before Sekigahara and when Ieyasu goes 'lol no it aint me' Motochika immediately believes him after a fight. Sure, Magoichi stepped in later to affirm that Motochika was right to seek out knowledge first before acting and confirmed that it wasn't Ieyasu, but... still. Motochika.

All in all, Motochika’s a kind-hearted, strong but not necessarily intelligent pirate, who has no problem saying it as it is and fitting all the brash pirate stereotypes, down to the eyepatch and speech. He’s certainly shaken by the recent events in his life, but not enough to revoke his compassion and fighting spirit, and ultimately he still wants a jolly existence and the best for everyone.

Abilities/Powers: yeah about that

He’s a normal human, with incredibly unrealistic powers (a given, since he’s from a fighting game: have a look at his gameplay if you’d like). He’s definitely pretty strong, seeing that he can swing his anchor around like a sword. There’s also a fire element tacked onto his anchor, that comes as a bonus to good ol’ slam-them-in-the-face if he builds up enough momentum in battle.

Motochika’s a pirate (and a pretty darn good one at that, he will insist) that basically goes around pillaging people’s land whenever he feels like it. So he’s pretty good at fighting, and has fought a ton before- actually, fuck it, fighting is in his blood. So he’s absolutely no stranger to it, and has the stamina + strength to fight off way more than the average soldier could.

Other than a crazy amount of strength coupled with a rather supernatural weapon, he doesn’t have any other powers.

As for abilities, though, in the anime he basically headed the construction of a huge ship which was big enough to support castle walls and a whole building. Something of a fortified castle on a boat, + a nice 3.5m long cannon in front. In the game, he also builds this fucking thing with goddamn Sengoku Era technology and supplies. And a crew full of devoted ruffians. It's basically a huge fire-breathing stomping jumping machine, and when it gets busted he pulls out a bigger, more complete one. He's great at engineering and making up hilarious shit, basically.

Items/Weapons: His anchor. That’s all!
Sample Entry: Test drive!
Sample Entry Two:

Haven. That’s the name they gave this place, and at this point, it’s almost hilarious.

Anchor trailing along the floor, he found himself staring into the well- fuck the feelings of paranoia. Motochika won’t admit, but he’s homesick, of his crew and the smell of the sea. Cliché, yeah, yeah. His job isn’t to be imaginative, it’s to carve out a life for his crew.

And to protect Shikoku, but everyone knows how well that went.

There’s nothing but silence for a moment, before he jolts upright into attention again. The new scars on his body from the absolute bullshit this crapshoot place has put him through, they do nothing to his personality. (At least, he would like to think so!) No matter how little he has now, he’s not going to take advantage of the weak that have literally nothing to spare. So, when he hears crying, the pirate doesn’t think about pillaging.

The only thing he wants to pillage now is the belongings of assholes and things that come from this damn place.

“You,” he says first, without thinking to check if it’s a monster around the corner- Motochika can easily send it back to hell with a swing of his anchor, anyway, he’s confident of that- “Are you alright?”

Character Name: Remy Etienne LeBeau (Gambit)
Canon: X-Men Comicverse
Canon Point: Post 2013 solo series
Background/History: here
Personality: It's known by many that it isn't wise to judge a book by its cover. But with Gambit? Many of your assumptions could very well be right. Remy Lebeau is a cool, calm, collected individual, riddled with wit and French banter. Born to a family who tossed him aside because of his strange eyes, he grew up living on the streets. He learned to keep himself collected, to take what he needed to survive, to steal. And while that may not be the most wise thing, it's because of his early street-rat tendencies that had him adopted into a family of thieves.

Remy has a witty personality, eager to make a snide remark or joke whenever given the opportunity. But through the snark, he's actually a very friendly and gentlemanly individual. Though his gentleman tendencies are usually used in an attempt to charm someone's pants off in order to steal, to those who are important, that characteristic is very genuine.

Gambit is well-known for his top-notch thievery and charm. A man with rugged class, charm, and swagger, he constantly maintains that cool composure that gets him away with damn-near anything. He has a playful demeanor, enjoying very much to push whatever buttons he can. He seems to find entertainment in chasing after women, finding their weaknesses and trying to wriggle himself in their lives. But with this comes with a weakness: Gambit, first and foremost, is a gentleman. He loves the women and the women love him, even the most unsavory. Gambit has always had a soft spot for women, even those who are deemed an ex-wife and try to get him killed after he'd saved their own life. It's his downfall in plenty of situations, something that he gets scolded for constantly.

Playful and social, Gambit also has a secret-not-so-secret love for fiction and movies. Plenty of times, you'll find him quoting or referring to The Twilight Zone or Harry Potter (which I will refrain from should we have any Harry Potter players). He has a love for playing games and gambling, a knack for card tricks, and a love for entertainment.

Although he carries a sense of pride to those who see him, Gambit has a very heavy burden on his back. Through his past experiences, mistakes, and misfortunes, he has taken on a large weight of guilt that has always been taxing on his ability to become close with anyone.

However, through the guilt and self-torment, Gambit actually has a heart of gold. Despite his master skills in stealing and lying, he's actually quite caring to those he deems as friends and the ones he loves. He has a charm, despite the one that serves as a magnet to victims, where he's easy to get along with and quite fun to be around. He's obnoxious at times, though entertaining just as often. Gambit enjoys joking around and spending time with those close to him.

Regardless, once a thief, always a thief. As mentioned before, Gambit is an expert in the art of lies and deception. With his ability to charm and persuade, he's succeeded many times in stealing and deceiving those who have something he wants or needs. He keeps his past carefully hidden, and he's very quick to run away from his problems and pretend that they never really happened at all. But that ties in with this guilt. With each and every mistake and lie, Gambit has placed another heavy block of guilt. He knows when he has done something wrong, yet he is known for repeating history. Through that awareness, Gambit beats himself up and very quickly believes he deserves what is coming to him.

But through all that, he wishes to stop his old ways. Gambit would want nothing more to live a normal life, but he honestly believes that he doesn't deserve it. While he's aware that stealing and lying is wrong, he continues to do it because he believes it's all he will ever amount to. Even through that charming smile and laugh, there lies a man who is deeply disappointed in himself. He puts himself through a vicious cycle of trying to improve, messing up, and reverting back to his old ways.

Abilities/Powers: Gambit's mutant ability is molecular acceleration, meaning that he has the power to take an object's potential energy and convert it to kinetic energy. The smaller the object, the faster he can charge it up. The larger the object, the longer it takes to charge. Either way, he can turn any household object into a home-made bomb! Ain't that nice? He is also capable of accelerating the energy of a woman's ovaries, causing them to inevitably explode. This includes, but is not limited to, blowing panties off.

Enhanced Agility: tying in with his mutant ability regarding energy, Gambit is able to move at superhuman speed.

Static Interference: Gambit's body is coursing with static energy, making him undetectable by telepaths and the like.

Hypnotic Charm: His ability to manipulate energy has no limitations when it comes to the human form. Gambit is able to change the energy in an individual's mind to work in his favor. In other words: he can literally charm the pants off of you and convince you that it was completely your own decision.

Items/Weapons: His Bo-Staff, a deck of cards, and a burnt and tattered queen of hearts card.

Scratch that. It definitely wasn't luck. Hanji's intelligence and ambition was enough to pioneer titan research and almost single-handedly push it further than anyone could have imagined. Hanji has critical thinking skills and is talented at strategy and logic, though most of the time they ignore logic altogether. However, they know when it's time to get serious. When Hanji wants or needs something, they get it. And, as far as they're concerned, there's no moral limit on what you can do to achieve your goal; the ends justify the means.

Hanji's drug is danger - nothing's more thrilling than going head-on into danger and living to tell the tale. But it's not always about the danger; they also have a genuine love for understanding what it is that puts the human race at risk. They're curious, to a fault. The fault being that they end up putting people (mostly themselves) in danger. They don't always know when to stop, and since they don't always take threats seriously, they put themselves in danger of death near constantly.

They have some amount of empathy for titans, and a passion for their study. No one else can really claim to have a love of titans the way Hanji can. It's almost as if titans are the only thing Hanji can 100% understand on an emotional level. Despite their reputation for wiping out large amounts of the human race, Hanji truly cares for the titans they capture for science. When it comes to their experimenting, they can talk for literally hours, keeping someone up all night with their excited rambling. After years of seemingly little progress in the field, Hanji never gets bored. None of their colleagues truly understand why, but they've never bothered to explain - perhaps no one else would understand.
Most things about Hanji are beyond understanding, but they couldn't care less about how they look in the eyes of others. There are more important things to be worrying about. Neither are relationships, or money, or power.

So what does Hanji worry about?

Despite popular belief among the newer ranks, Hanji does have morals, and most certainly has fears. One of them is losing their ability to tell right from wrong in the heat of battle. Another is hurting someone they didn't mean to hurt. More than anything, more than their love of titans could ever dissuade themselves from, they're terrified of losing their humanity.

However, how long can they survive with their morality completely intact? Sounds like an exciting experiment. Let's get started!

Abilities/Powers: Most would say that Hanji's strongest ability is their quick wit, but their 3 years of strenuous military training didn't hurt either. Those years resulted in a large growth of stamina and the ability to maintain a cool head during stressful situations - well, when they bother to try. Their intelligence also makes them incredibly hard to kill and an excellent strategizer - Hanji's statistics place their wisdom at 11/10. However, they have no abilities beyond that of a normal human being.

Items/Weapons: 3-Dimensional Maneuver Gear - Body harness holding a gas-powered propeller and a holder for two swords.
Two Blades - Strong enough to slash a titan - provided you aim well enough.
Gas Cannisters - To fire the puppy up.

Sample Entry:
So guess where I am!

[Hanji, true to their word, waits for a response but, of course, there is none.]

...due to the almost frightening silence on my end, I'm going to assume that you are all too excited to speak. So I am...

Underground!

"But Haaaanji, why are you underground?"

What a RIDICULOUS question! Why NOT be underground? I can't think of a single reason why being above ground at this moment is preferable to my current state.

But really.

I am currently digging an underground tunnel myself to see what I can see. If anyone's interested in lending me a hand and doesn't have any known allergies, join me near the well. Bye now!

Character Name: Shinji Ikari
Canon: Neon Genesis Evangelion
Canon Point: post-episode 24
Background/History: Canon | Background

Personality: The death of his mother and the abandonment by his father, not too long after losing his mother, resulted in Shinji Ikari growing up to have very low expectations and self-worth; a boy with terrible self-esteem since childhood. Shinji Ikari is boy who grew up just living through day-to-day and doing what was expected of him with no objections from him. He went to school, played the cello often at the request of his teacher that he grew up living with after his father walked out of his life. (Fast forward to when he's 14 years old and meets Gendo Ikari again; the reunion was a far cry from heart-warming. To this day, he does not have a good relationship with his father.)

At an arms-length-distance, Shinji Ikari is an average, agreeable boy who is a bit quiet and has a few problems with his self-esteem. And he is perhaps a bit awkward around women (especially if they come onto him. But from what we gathered with the infamous encounter with Kaji in 2.22, ANYONE can fluster him if they come on strong.), and not the most assertive person you'll meet.

While he sometimes bickers with Asuka Soryu, another fellow Eva pilot and chosen child, Shinji is still a passive person and is the one who usually attempts to pacify her abrasive behavior in any way he is able to. So it's not that Shinji doesn't have a backbone, it's just that he doesn't always have the energy to care enough to put up a fight. So he usually thinks it's just easier to let people have it their way, rather than fight it. (and more inclined to pick his battles.)

In the beginning of the series, Shinji feels as if he had no choice but to pilot the eva, that this was a thing that Shinji had no say in. However, Shinji does become a little more willing of piloting the Eva when he gets praised by his father after a mission. Just hearing a "Good job" from his father left Shinji taken aback, and made him finally think of his reason of piloting Eva after a while answering "I don't know what my reason is" when he was asked before. He is no hero, and even he had a better attitude, Shinji wouldn't want to be, let alone think of himself as a hero. As odd as it sounds, he pilots the Eva for the praise and approval of others, including his father, who he still had some disdain towards; which is a total contrast to Asuka's reasons for piloting Eva which was "to be the best.". He feels his existence has some worth when he pilots the Eva.

Shinji is a boy who wants to be liked and wants your approval, another reason why he isn't a confrontational person. Growing up, his teacher had him take up playing the cello. Shinji kept playing it and actually became quite skilled at it, as Asuka commented when she heard him play. When she asks "Why do you keep playing?" he answers "Because no one told me to stop."

When it comes to getting emotionally close to Shinji or wanting to make a bond with him... Well. There is an expression called "The Hedgehogs's Dilemma" that describes one of Shinji's downfalls. It is when:
(1) The closer two beings come to one another in a relationship, the more likely it might be for them to inflict psychological pain on each other
(2) Yet if they remain apart, they each might feel the roughly-equivalent pain of loneliness.

It is the very explanation of why Shinji is quite the introvert who rarely makes friends at school and is rather content with just listening to his SDAT player (his cassette player) than talk to other classmates. Only Toji and Kensuke were the ones who got through to Shinji and were his only friends at school. When he is with them, he acts and behaves like the 14 year old boy he actually is, and not just an Eva pilot with responsibilities and burdens. Thus, this proves that Shinji is able to make friends, he just doesn't always take initiative to reach to others.

He'd rather keep you at an arms-length distance, if he is able to. Get any closer or cross that boundary and he will try to close in on himself, emotionally.

He rarely reaches out to others because he believes it will only hurt him in the end. And on the flip side of that same coin, he hates and fears being alone and that hurts him just as much, if not more. From what we gather from the conversation that he had with Kaworu Nagisa, the only person Shinji was able to confide in, is that while Shinji is cautious of people around him, he does not hate anyone. (except his father, which he feel he is perfectly justified in doing so.)

In the "End of Evangelion", it is shown that while Shinji has been hurt and betrayed in his lifetime, he still values his individuality and would rather still exist physically than live a life in Instrumentality where the souls of all beings were merged into one huge sea of LCL. He realized that even there is pain/will be pain in his lifetime, there is still the happiness from being cared about and caring about another individual; Shinji got to experience what that is like with the help of Kaworu Nagisa, no matter how short-lived that bond was.

This was why when the Third Impact happened, the Apocalypse of their world, he rejected Instrumentality, in the end. So, all that said, Shinji is not all hopeless when it comes to people. Shinji has the potential to go in a better direction. Towards the end of the series, he starts to think in a better direction than he did in the beginning despite needing a little work on self-esteem. (Going from "I am worthless/useless" to "Yes, I'm a coward, and I am only me.. but I am worth living here!") As hopeless as he made himself and his life out to be, and as much as he dislikes himself, somewhere in his heart, Shinji Ikari has the will to live and wouldn't want to die.

Abilities/Powers: None. But he did pilot an Evangelion, so he could probably pilot something similar to it!
Items/Weapons: Just his SDAT player for item! No weapons.
Sample Entry: Here's one from another game. (Can provide different or more if needed!)
Sample Entry Two:
"Wake up. Please just wake up, Shinji. It's just a dream."

Shinji would try mentally telling himself that when he realizes he's stuck in a place he thinks he vaguely remembers. (Vaguely. His memory of Haven would be very fuzzy.) Needless to say, his reaction was to close his eyes and hope he'd wake up to the unfamiliar ceiling that was Misato's apartment. But all he got when he opened his eyes to see vaguely-recognizable skies that was Haven, instead. The building that was the apartments were not too far from his eye sight.

He wondered to himself just how long would he be here, this time? Well... Then again. Did it really matter? What would be left for Shinji when he returns, anyway? With someone who genuinely cared about Shinji winding up dead, with a another friend in a comatose, and another he just can't confront after finding out a certain truth, the former pilot has little to look forward to now. Misato was different since Kaji died, too. So it wasn't like the former pilot had much to return to. There were no angels to fight, anymore. No one would be there to welcome him home anymore.

But it's alright, he reasons to himself. That noisy apartment (with Misato and Asuka? It was noisy! But he tolerated it.) that he probably was beginning to call "home" was not going to last forever. He should have known better. Things like that were too good to be true. Shinji thinks all that to himself, but was he really OK with going back to what he's done before? After what he's been through with everyone? He closes his for a second before he opens them again, blinking away the burning sensation and moisture. (No, Shinji. You will not cry.)

No. Maybe he honestly isn't fine with going back to before he met everyone. But it's what he needs to do to keep himself safe and live for as long as he's in this place. He won't hurt again. He'll be fine this way, with keeping distance, he thinks to himself as he starts walking to the housings. Whether he would have roommates or not, it didn't matter to him. Either way, he was not in a hurry to greet people yet. He'll greet anyone with a forced smile to be polite, but he'll keep them at arms-length.

...Would he run into anyone he met here the first time? Honestly? He hoped not.

Character Name: Gangrel
Canon: Fire Emblem: Awakening
Canon Point: Post-Mad King's Lament, pre-endgame

Background/History: Awakening's page, and Gangrel's own page.

Additionally, this was only established after the fact last time I had him here, but I'm establishing it right here this time- In the specific timeline he's from he was married to his version of Robin.

Personality: Gangrel, the Mad King of Plegia, was a wicked man. A cruel and wicked tyrant, Gangrel relished in cruelty for its own sake, and truly loved war- he spoke of revenge against Ylisse, of making Plegia the ruling power, but all of this was merely a front, a way of attempting to justify- for others, of course, he didn't feel the need to put a false front on it for himself- his pointless sadism.

Though he never comes across as a smart man, Gangrel is no fool- though he speaks bluntly and with venom to spare, he's got a silver tongue, and is quite adept at fooling others, deceiving them into acting as he wants and in fact bringing his entire country into a needless war on nothing but his say-so. As Emmeryn sacrifices herself, Gangrel immediately stops caring about her use as a pawn- all he cares about is the joy that Chrom's despair brings him, relishing in it and savoring the sorrow he's caused.

After his army leaves him and he is defeated by Chrom, Gangrel is cast aside and left for dead. Joining a group of pirates, Gangrel works as the lowest of the low, swabbing the decks and fighting for coin. Left as nothing but a hollow shell of his former self, upon encountering Chrom again, Gangrel simply asks for death, feeling no need to continue on and at last haunted by a sudden conscience.

Chrom spares him, however, and Gangrel joins the army with quite a bit of grumbling. Though he does not apologize to anyone for his former actions, he shows remorse- his past weighs heavily upon him, to the point of considering himself slime and nothing more than a dog. He outright tells Robin that he knows his old rule was "wicked", and that he regrets being changed by war into the sadistic man he was.

Eventually, Gangrel decides to put himself to work again, and deems himself Plegia's liberator, setting himself on a path to help those he once harmed. He considers himself a useless dead man, but there's no reason a dead man can't help out! While he may not be the cleanest soul, he feels the urge- sickeningly, at times, to himself- to fix what he caused, and to redeem himself in at least his own eyes, if not anyone else's.

Despite this, though, Gangrel still relishes battle, and is easily caught up in his old ways, scheming pointlessly at all times and being relentlessly obnoxious and deceptive for literally no reason. His sadistic nature has faded somewhat, though he still can be blunt and hurtful, and is somewhat tempered by his guilt over what he caused.

Abilities/Powers: Gangrel is a Trickster, which is a class built around quick swordplay and light amounts of magic. Though Gangrel is, at first appearances, nothing particularly special when it comes to physique, he is in fact an incredibly fast, skilled swordsman- what he lacks in muscle (which is pretty much everything, since he pretty much has none) he more than makes up for with his finesse, especially when it comes to going for the jugular.

On the other hand, he admits to not really training with his weapon- it's likely his style is entirely self-taught and radically different from any style taught by any real swordsman, and is, given his personality, based just as much around intimidation and trickery as the actual craft itself.

On the magical end of things, Gangrel can utilize his world's healing staves, though thanks to his nature and lack of care for others, it's likely not nearly as crafted as his swordplay.

Items/Weapons: His sword (a Levin sword- a sword enchanted with a minor wind spell, though he primarily uses it to stab people in the back, obviously), his clothing (mostly his crown), and an almost-unused Heal staff

Sample Entry: So, here I am, eh? What a heap. Which, I mean, appropriate, kudos on that, putting the rats where they belong... But really, I've been to some heaps. Ruled one, you know!

This, though, ech. It reeks of poverty, despair, and I think- Gyahahahaha! No, that one's me I'm smelling. Are you expecting me to fit right in here, then? Mules among mules, corpses among corpses? Fool you once, wretch, I don't fit in anywhere. You bring Gangrel to your party, all you've done is ruin your party. Bring it home, boys, you've tainted the entire place with filth.

But, you know? I think I could grow to like a place like this. Gods know it suits. All that it needs is swine for the blade and for the muck to wallow in, and you've a land fit for a king.

Gyahahahahaha! In fact, I quite like it! If to be filth is my destiny, then IN filth I shall live! Trash lives among trash, and I plan to be the garbage that stinks up the whole dump!

Sample Entry Two: Gods, the stench.

The former Mad King stared down the well, his nose turned up as he leaned in to try to see the water below. Oh, he had fallen far, he was just a mad dog now- but some standards had to be held, right? Even dogs get clean water.

"Well, clean, sure, but..." Gangrel mused as he took a sip from the tiny amount he'd managed to get out before being disgusted by the very concept. "Gods know what's fallen in there by now. Maybe I should join it, eh? Steep myself in the well, give the others something flavorful to drink..."

Another grimace. Apparently, he still thought more of himself than he thought, given his distaste with the water. Pathetic, really, that he couldn't even drink well water without palpable disgust. To him, at least.

That feeling was tossed aside, though, in favor of a different flavor of self pity. "Gyahahaha... but who wants to drink tea when a walking corpse has been in the brew? Rats, there goes that avenue..."

And another sip. Eugh. It tasted alright, but the very idea...

...A grin slowly crept across the tyrant's face. "But then... Isn't drinking wastewater what being a rat is all about? Ooh, and to see the kiddies squirm if I tell them all about the things I've seen fall in the well..."

The Mad King Gangrel stalked away from the well, cackling to himself about the horror stories he could tell the younger captives and trying to stave aside a bit of his self-torment for once.

After all, even dogs have fun, right?

Character Name: Ryan Evans
Canon: High School Musical
Canon Point: Post-High School Musical 3
Background/History: Entry on the wiki. But since that's also a pretty bare source…here is a more thorough write-up of the HSM history that's relevant to Ryan

Personality: Ryan Evans is someone whose personality seems to get overshadowed by Sharpay, but when he's separated from her long enough it's easy to see the difference between the twins. Ryan's an actor, first and foremost, so he knows exactly how to play people when he wants to. He knows how to fake sincerity and how to be gracious and how to be powerful when the time's right. When he's performing he cranks it up to an eleven, going over the top and almost borderline campy. Ryan takes his performance very seriously and uses it as a chance to showcase what he can do while knowing he's far more superior than most of the student body. However, when he's not on stage Ryan's actually a pretty decent guy. He doesn't have the same mean streak his sister does that seems to be permanently stuck in the "on" position.

Ryan's an incredibly driven person with very precise goals and dreams. In the third film it's announced that he applied to Juilliard for the dance program, but there are hints of this even as early as the first movie (namely, the mentions of the twins performing on Broadway and the New York t-shirt he wears.) He doesn't give up on his dreams that easily and he does whatever it takes to achieve them. Ryan's actually somewhat versatile in the sense that if something doesn't go according to plan he doesn't quit, but rather he just adjusts his plans to do something else. A prime example of this is when Sharpay tells him in the second film that she's cut him from their routine so she can sing with Troy. Initially Ryan's upset because his sense of familiarity's disappeared, but he immediately follows the suggestion of choreographing something for the other Wildcats to perform for the Star Dazzle Talent Show. At first, before he starts hanging out with the Wildcats under Gabriella's influence, Ryan's self-esteem hovers between "egotistical when needed" and "overly modest." It takes a lot of convincing and encouragement from the girl Wildcats to coax him out of his shell and get him to start to bond with his classmates.

Another thing that can be said is that Ryan's a very, very patient person. He's a lot more calm than his sister and among his friends later in canon he becomes the source of optimism. It's implied that prior to making friends with the other Wildcats, Ryan simply goes along with his sister's dramatics, allowing her to push him around and put herself first. He rarely gets a say in anything but he doesn't seem to mind. He's used to cheering up Sharpay and mellowing her out, but it's suggested that it takes a great amount of willpower not to flip out on her too. (Yoga's great for that, it seems.) Around the other Wildcats though he can be seen laughing and joking around, fully relaxed when he's in his element and actually very pleased to be acknowledged as his own person instead of a twin. He doesn't really have foul moods unless someone really challenges him or makes him feel like he's not good enough.

Prime examples of this are Sharpay and Chad Danforth. As soon as he realizes he has options, Ryan does't hesitate to stand up to Sharpay and prove he can manage on his own. With Chad, however, he's a little more devious. He's not one to show his entire hand in one go, which is proven later in the second film when he shows up at the staff baseball game and rises to the challenge of playing with the other boys. The Wildcats all assume that Ryan doesn't know how to play because he's just a dancer and he's Sharpay's brother, but Ryan goes into the game knowing he's got the advantage and his competitive streak shines. He hates coming in second place.

Ryan also has a little bit of a self-deprecating/sarcastic personality at times. He later mentions to Gabriella that he knows everyone sees him as Sharpay's poodle, but a lot of this trait comes out in Ryan's actions. When Ryan knows that nobody's actually paying attention to him he's prone to making faces and pretending to go along with everything while clearly feeling like everyone's lost their minds. Despite the fact that he loves his family fiercely and he's very close to them (particularly his sister and his mother), he's not above pointing out their flaws either. An example of this is when he and Sharpay interrupt their mother's yoga session and Sharpay screams about Fulton hiring the entire Wildcats team. While Sharpay yells and screams, eventually demanding that Ryan talk to their mother, Ryan joins his mother on the floor and talks about Sharpay like she's not even there. ("Tell Pumpkin if she worries too much, she'll get frown lines." "I told her twice.")

Even though he's his own person, one of the traits he and his sister share are their inability to take no for an answer. "No" is not really a word that's heard often by the twins and because of this Ryan's learned to be a little crafty in getting his own way. Examples of this also come from Chad during the second movie. Chad insists that he doesn't dance, but Ryan refuses to accept that as an answer and as such takes matters into his own hands to place a bet in a game of baseball. Another example is in the third movie with Kelsi Nielsen. Even though Kelsi insists that she's too busy to attend prom Ryan doesn't allow her to say no when he asks her to go with her. ("Speaking of prom, what're you doing?" "Well it's two days before the show. I'm writing orchestrations and fixing charts...I still have to write the lyrics!" "Great, I'll pick you up at 8.") Ryan doesn't let people off the hook that easily no matter how much he likes or dislikes them.

The thing about Ryan's personality is that while it generally hovers around "nice guy until you make him feel inferior", he's also good at shifting his moods to suit whatever is needed. He can be a great friend or a worst enemy depending on how he's feeling, but he's a lot more adaptable than people believe he can be.

Abilities/Powers: N/A. Ryan unfortunately is a very normal boy unless you count the fact that he's a good enough dancer to be accepted into Juilliard which means he's most likely more agile and flexible than your average teenage boy.

On the other hand, Ryan's musically inclined to where he can sing, dance, choreograph and play the piano. He's also pretty fast thanks to (what's implied as) years of baseball and he's physically stronger than he looks thanks to dance and yoga. There's also the fact that he can act, and he can lie to people's faces without breaking character.

Items/Weapons: Literally just the clothes he's wearing, plus his EHS class ring he always wears.

Character Name: Jack Wilder
Canon: Now You See Me
Canon Point: post car chase
Background/History: Now You See Me on wikipedia
Personality: Jack, at first, can come across one of two ways, depending on the situation. Adaptable, the New Yorker that can change modes pretty fluently as whatever he sees fit for the situation. This isn't to say he's a complete jack of all trades, although he's versed in a lot of magic schools. It has more to do with survivability.

His most distinctive mode is when he's performing--Jack Wilder is charismatic, enthusiastic, and genuinely passionate about what he does. It shows in everything, from the card tricks even to the needlessly complicated fight scene with Agent Dylan Rhodes. As the youngest of the Four Horsemen, something that's a slightly touchy subject, Jack arguably works harder than any of the others and doesn't put up too much fuss over being the underdog.

He's well aware that being the so-called rookie gives him both advantages and disadvantages--for one, he'll never quite feel like he'll ever have Atlas' approval. One of the greatest advantages however is that the majority of people don't expect him to know so much and be so well versed in his craft as he really is.

Like the rest of the Horsemen, despite constantly working hard on complicated tricks and acts, Jack almost seems to thrive on that sort of pressure. He's cocky and arrogant but not as egotistical as Atlas, and a little more practical when it comes to applying what he's learned as an illusionist in to the real life world. This moves back to how adaptable he is--he's capable of thinking on his feet, sometimes literally, in order to make everything work. The entire New Orleans escape is a prime example, out-maneuvering the FBI by dressing in a New Orleans cop uniform at the drop of a hat, or improvising during the fight with Rhodes and the car chase that followed afterwards.

In addition to working harder than the other Horsemen, Jack also has an incredible knack for uniting those around him. Instead of being the underdog, or the scrappy team mascot, Jack takes his role and reverses it--in a way, he almost mothers the entire group, Merritt McKinney included, by reeling in their egos and acting as a foil for them when they need it.

This isn't to say Jack is without self-doubt--he's the hardest on himself, it seems, and the phrase 'you're your own worst critic' comes to mind. He may be able to soothe the other three Horsemen's egos, but while he's not crippled with it, he does have quite a few moments where he lacks confidence. He desperately doesn't want anyone to see him as the newbie, or inferior--at least in his little circle--but sometimes he can't help but be scared when it comes to certain things he's never done, or is unsure of. It's hard, but he's ultimately able to trust the Eye and everyone around him, especially the other three Horsemen.

It's easy to see the confidence and unbridled ambition in the young magician on stage, as well as his charming demeanor and almost magnetic personality. It's only when he's with people he learns to trust, as mentioned before, that you get anything deeper. He's not viciously guarding himself, per se, he's just learned to be careful around people he doesn't know. In addition to that, he's so often sucked into what he's doing that he develops a tunnel vision that results in not really caring about anything deeper.

Jack the magician is incredibly different from Jack the hustler. Jack is just as talented--if not more--in light (and, as canon progresses, heavy) thievery and is just as confident about it as he is with his magic. He isn't, however, stupid enough to boast about it. In fact, he does the opposite: he purposely blends in. Applying the rules of magic to his morally grey area of expertise, he's well versed in creating diversions and using that moment to not only take someone's wallet but advertise that he will, one day, be the world's greatest magician. Still, he says the right things and even goes so far as to wear nondescript, grey and black tones to make it easier for him to slip away. He may be opportunistic and incredibly curious, but for the most part, Jack Wilder likes to play it smart.

Things like rules are something Jack thinks he can pick and choose--he dislikes Thaddeus Bradley for breaking the Magician's Oath, for example, but has zero problems robbing banks, picking pockets and locks seemingly on a whim, or stealing from the morgue. Since becoming one of the Four Horsemen, Jack has created his own moral compass that seemingly goes against that of an average person. For example, Jack is seen sleeping during the FBI and Interpol interrogation after the Horsemen's first show, displaying an unconcerned attitude. He seems to be a very laid back, almost nonchalant about the entire ordeal, and a lot of that display of personality is how he normally comes across to any stranger. He's not egotistical enough to see the entire thing as a game (due to his moments of self-doubt sneaking in and making him a bit cautious still), but he does have fun with it. Most importantly, unlike the more arrogant members of the Horsemen, Jack is always careful to plan and think a course of action through to point out all of the things that could still go wrong, amazing talent or not.

There are different aspects that make up one Jack Wilder, but at the heart, all he really is a young, 20-something magician who just wants to be accepted and acknowledged for how good he is. Not by the world, necessarily--but certainly his peers.

Abilities/Powers:
SLEIGHT OF HAND: Jack's primary talent, earning him the nickname 'The Sleight.' Extremely dexterous, Jack is able to make small things, such as cards, 'appear' or 'disappear,' by merely tucking them somewhere unseen, like his sleeve or the back of his hand. He can make things reappear as well, but all of it is simple illusion--there is no actual magic in the Now You See Me universe.
CARD THROWING: Much like the x-men Gambit, Jack's favourite method of attack is to literally throw cards. He can actually hit quite a distance away, all it takes is a flick of the wrist and a lot of practice.
MENTALIST: No where near as good as Merritt, but the older Horseman has trained him to learn the basics of reading the human body to sense mood, personality, and the like.
FLASH PAPER: Jack has the knowledge to create nitrocellulose. In the movie, no fire is needed to actually ignite it--a simple throw will do.
PICK POCKETING: One of his main talents. Self-explanatory.
LOCK PICKING His second mainstay, paired with pick pocketing. It should be noted he is apparently incredibly fast and efficient, and the locks he can pick range from apartment doors to larger ones.
VOICE MIMICRY: A hidden talent Jack doesn't like to broadcast for the element of surprise--after hearing and repeating a few sentences, Jack is able to mimic FBI agent Dylan Rhodes's vastly different voice almost perfectly. At the very least it's enough to convince the guards he's the agent himself.
SCRAPPER: While not trained in things like martial arts per se, Jack has learned how to fight, and well. He's quick on his feet and uses that to his advantage, though he does know how to throw a punch or two.
SNEAK: He's literally able to climb up and down furniture and move directly behind people without making a sound.
IMPROVISED WEAPONS: He's thrown cards, used a garbage disposal, tied a jacket to render someone's arms useless, stuffed someone's mouth with a wet rag he found in the kitchen, and even used someone's belt as a whip to get a gun away from them.

tl;dr think of a thief in a standard roleplaying game and you pretty much have Jack's abilities.
Items/Weapons: 1. basic deck of normal playing cards
2. A handful of flash paper made to look like French banknotes
3. His Horseman card, death.
Sample Entry: Action at the test drive!
Sample Entry Two: He's not too keen on the subway. 'Not keen' is pretty much just fancy talk for 'that thing is vaguely threatening and I live in Brooklyn and I'm used to the horrors of the underground but not actually unsettling abandoned places.'

Either way, staring at the stairs, he's pretty much fighting a losing battle with himself. Granted, he's surprisingly still about the entire thing, not once moving to fidget. Just... Staring. It was something not quite out of a horror movie, but close enough, and Jack glances around briefly before settling on it again and realizing exactly why it bothers him.

"It's not busy." He's sure he sounds like an idiot, saying it out loud, but at the moment Jack is too busy psyching himself out over this entire thing. A flashlight would help. Something that wasn't a deck of cards or fake money.

...Does he really want to go there in the first place, though? The rational part of him is saying no, and even the curious part of him is agreeing. Maybe he could go around the network, find someone to dupe into going for him.

Yeah. That seems like the safest bet.

Name: Sarah

Requested apartment: Block 29, somewhere?

Character Name: Mako
Canon: Legend of Korra
Canon Point: Book 3, post episode 3
Background/History: Mako's wiki.
Personality: Mako is a teenager. It's worth throwing that out there, because it's obvious that he doesn't consider himself a teenager based off of how he derisively refers to his peers as kids more than once. As though he has any leg to stand on over them, especially considering his paramours, but I digress... However, part of why he doesn't consider himself a teenager is because he's been the breadwinner for himself and his brother since they were children. A firebender killed his parents when he was eight and he's been focused on survival since that day.

Mako is serious, at least on the surface, compared to his brother's goofiness, and he prefers to be the one in charge of decisions for what their little family does. He doesn't really take most of Bolin's suggestions seriously, even when they might be helpful. Bolin has no problem wearing his heart and emotions on his sleeve, while Mako is much more guarded, and very rarely does he lose control of his emotions.

He's distant and cold to others when he first meets others, because he really doesn't care much about how much of a first impression he makes. Sure, he can smile and wink for the camera when necessary, but that really isn't his default mode when making friends. In fact, Mako tends to focus on cold calculations most of the time. It's evident in his trademark 'cool under fire' fighting style, and he's mused aloud on which would be better, going for Korra versus Asami as a girlfriend.

His cold calculations ALSO tend to forget to factor his own feelings into the equation. Once he gets close to someone, he will defend them and go out of his way for them, to an almost menacing degree. He did this with Korra once he got to know her, and with Asami while defending her father from the accusations of being an Equalist. However, he acts completely clueless about the difference in his behavior towards Korra after the first time her life is seriously in danger when Asami presses him, instead of thinking about what she's saying. He prefers to put the conversation off for another day, because he's not the most in touch with his feelings.

But heaven help you if you mess with one of his people. The few times that he does lose his temper, are usually focused on either being confused about how love works, or because someone he cares about is threatened.

So, even though Mako considers himself the head of the household, he's still a teenager, prone to ridiculousness himself. His entire introduction to Asami was him getting hit with a motorbike, and then forgetting to be completely mad at her while she sweet talked him into a date. He makes excuses for doing things he considers childish, and hides behind his role as a police officer to get out of certain things. And even as a teenager, he's still prone to petty fighting, occasionally with Bolin, and definitely with Asami while they were on the rocks. But it's more readily apparent with Bolin, as they are brothers and know each other way too well. Oh, did I mention he gives bad love advice to his brother?

He is also very attached to his scarf, his last memento of his father and has been shown to use it sort of as a security blanket when he's nervous. While he is cold and guarded, he still had to watch his parents be brutally murdered when he was only a kid, and did take on the full responsibility for taking care of his brother. His childhood is more than reasonably stunted.

And, as a final word, Mako has the capability to make absolutely terrible puns. "Looks like you had some car trouble" indeed. Of all the suave things to say.
Abilities/Powers: Mako is a firebender, and a talented pro-bender, which is a sport combining firebending, waterbending, and earthbending. His probending style is similar to that of a boxer's, he keeps his arms in close to his sides, fists defensive of his face, and focuses on short, concentrated jabs at his opponents. He also can firebend without explicitly making firebending motions, aka the breath of fire ability. He and his brother tag team an officer with their respective abilities once.

He is also able to lightning bend, as well as redirect lightning. He shows the capability while one of the mecha tanks is shocking him, and he redirects the shock towards the mecha, frying its systems and knocking out the Equalist inside of it.

Mako is also the only person to show the strength of mind to defeat Amon's bloodbending long enough to shock him. It's only temporary, and he gets caught again later, but his cool under fire style does have some other advantages.

Besides that, Mako is extremely flexible and athletic-- he shows now problem lifting his brother over his shoulder, though his brother is definitely larger than him. And he's definitely had to pull some crazy moves to dodge some of the attacks thrown at him in pro-bending.

ALSO, he's crazy good at driving a motorcycle.
Items/Weapons: As of right now, Mako just has his scarf. Everything else was stolen from him.

Motonari Mōri | Sengoku BASARA (expired reserve)

[personal profile] sunfapper 2014-07-14 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: [Note: If videos don't start at the correct time stamp, please check the URL for the right time! I know youtube doesn't always link properly, thanks :)]

Motonari Mori is ruthless. This is the most significant detail of his personality as it affects the way he acts with others - but also how others perceive him. He’s classified as a “young tactical genius”, and is well known across Japan for being an amazing strategist. In fact, Hanbei Takenaka is the only other person who is even close to his level. The reason why this connects to his personality, is that with this way of thinking logically and with calculations only - he is willing to sacrifice even his own men to progress with his plans. Even in the game, he summons archers to aid him, only the same archers can be struck down by Motonari himself if they are in his way. While he has said that his only interest lies with the Sun, Aki and the House of Mori (his plans with Yoshitsugu confirming this--"Remember, I have no interest in your plans, you can have the whole country except for Chugoku. Chugoku is to be mine alone.") it's not entirely true. Despite him telling Yoshitsugu this, it is pretty much a lie - especially when it's considered that his end goal is actually defeating Motochika. Yes, this would bring peace to his clan and to Chugoku, but Motochika has always been the better man and would be willing to negotiate peace terms if Motonari were more trust worthy. That, and even his pre-menu quote is 'I am Mori Motonari and I am the conqueror of all'.

He really has no problems with making alliances only to break them for the sake of his own plans. Using Yoshitsugu as an example, in his blue route he uses Yoshitsugu and Mitsunari as stepping stones to finally get at Motochika. This is even the case when Mitsunari tries to fight for his friend, Motonari just kicks him down and doesn't honestly give a damn, despite helping Mitsunari get so far against Ieyasu. Not only this, but he also sets Motochika against Ieyasu to the point where he ends up killing one of his best friends. In this route, he successfully betrays 3 people in one go by planning carefully. It wasn't even without warning, as multiple times he warned Yoshitsugu to be careful. He's a total backstabber, the type of person who would make decisions that would only better themselves, rather than creating alliances as friends to form a unit together.

While Motonari's history isn't fully developed in the games, there are quotes that strongly suggest he's led a difficult life, just like the historical figure he is based on. He claims "Holding my breath, I look back to where I've come from. You couldn't possibly know what I have been through.", which could be taken as his struggle to finally make it into his position of power. Historically Mori Motonari had 2 elder brothers who were obviously left in charge before he was. Being a younger son in those times was never easy, especially when you are left with a pedestal of wins or failures to match. He also seems to have the need to reassure himself. "Suffer through... it's barely a scratch. You'll be fine. I'll soak the earth... with the blood of subordinates" is a key example of this, and how even after battles he's telling himself to pick himself up and carry on. While he can fight, his entire fighting style is much better used tactically -- by setting traps for the enemy to fall into and by using his men as meat shields. It's logical, that way, to say that should he be injured, he's probably not all that used to it.

Motonari worships the sun. He even calls himself a 'child of the sun', and uses a ring like weapon to symbolise the sun's spherical appearance. He states that the sun protects him, and uses attacks and weapons that are based off solar power - using mirrors to create a solar canon that can burn the floor and be used as traps for approaching enemies. He looks towards the sun for divine protection, for guidance and proclaims that it is that what helps him. There does, however, seem to be some base to his claims. After defeating Yoshitsugu in his red route, he's cursed by the latter to endure suffering as he has suffered. Despite this, as the grey ominous smoke of the curse surrounds him, the sun appears and washes the curse away. He's bathed in light, untouched and uncursed. While he may be a tactician, there is definitely a large element of spiritualism to him, and this may be tied with his powerful light abilities, too. In SB4, though he is not from his path there, he claims to be a descendant of Amaterasu. He holds control of the sun to some extent, rather than just using slices of it to hurt others.

He is very egotistical, though this is perhaps also one of his biggest downfalls. Mitsunari's route, for example, shows Mitsunari absolutely kicking the shit out of him when Mitsunari goes to see him. He's threatened into the Western Army, even though he knows he can use his skills as a tactician to keep himself alive--he's literally inches from being killed. Thankfully, with quick thinking he can convince Mitsunari to keep him alive. He knows he's a genius and unfortunately, while he doesn't often play on this, he is well aware that his ability of looking ahead and planning routes that benefit most to him is well above everyone else's. In his blue route he knew the best path to getting to his end goal would be Yoshitsugu, and he also knew he could manipulate both him and Mitsunari to get what he wanted. He had already planned ahead to frame Ieyasu to gain Motochika's trust. He thinks himself above all others, and even uses unfavourable words to describe people sometimes, rather than just calling them by their name - especially when he is talking to himself about his plans. Not to mention that he's also willing to slap and walk all over someone if they think of disobeying his orders.

He is calm voiced, even at times when he's angry or upset by something. An example of this is in Kanbei Kuroda's route when he finds Motonari who is one of his 'captors'. He claims that Motonari has changed as if it were the 'old him' he would have reacted to his provocations ages ago. That he isn't as reckless as he used to be, which indicates that the brief instances of his tantrums that we do see are episodes of the past from before he aimed to control his emotions. Another instance of this is during Motochika's green route, after he's found out Motonari planned everything. He tells Motonari that he'll remember the men he lost, and many others, but he'll forget Motonari as his existence is lonely and all he has are great strategies. Motonari is enraged by it, and yells 'How dare you speak of me in that way'.

In the game, the first stage of his red route refers to the earlier games when he is brainwashed by a cult called 'Xavism'. This cult is revitalised by Sorin in SB3, which unfortunately for Motonari, means bad news. Sorin has the ability to brainwash through singing, and for some reason seems to love Motonari's brainwashed self as Sunday enough that he keeps trying to 'bring him back'. The stage begins with Motonari coming face to face with that past memory, as the door to that cult starts to open. He's quite obviously disturbed by it, and yells that the door can never be opened again. He shivers. He's genuinely freaked out by it. Xavism is perhaps the one thing that can actually unhinge him. With good reason. Xavism encourages the devout worship of love and happiness, and that is perhaps an almost 180 of Motonari's entire personality.

Using the anime as a side example for Motonari's way of dealing with shock, Yukimura's successful attempt to stop the fortress he possesses in season 2 is of relevance. He honestly can't believe it and actually shows shock for perhaps the first time in the entire series. He simply has far too much confidence in himself and believes himself pretty much invincible. He doesn't even change after this happens. He simply fixes it up and moves on. He doesn't dwell on any failures, just merely uses them as an example to move on and learn from it. Even when one of his subordinates who was a Toyotomi spy tries to assassinate him, he just coolly cuts him down and tells one of his other subordinates to drink from the poisoned sake - when he does and is also killed, Motonari merely states that he had factored the spy into his plans - he doesn't care that his life was almost at stake, or rather, he never saw it as such.

Despite not caring about anyone but himself, he's fairly good at reading people and their emotions. He understands emotions, he just chooses to try and discard them. A conversation with Yoshitsugu points to this as well, as he waves Yoshitsugu's own pity for Mitsunari in his face after he claims that he wants misfortune for all humans. He might want it for Motonari, and even for himself, but Mitsunari he has come to care for in some way. Motonari and Yoshitsugu, despite working together, are also working against each other. They constantly make remarks to each other about watching the other's steps, and in this case it is no different. Motonari warns him that if he cannot discard all emotions it will be him standing in the end--as that's where they both know this will end up. They'll fight each other, and to them the one who is most ready (by sacrifice, by devotion, or even by losing any and all emotion they may have had) will be the one who is left standing.

In the series, Motochika is his biggest rival. The are constantly warring against each other, given they both try to take possession of the Inland Seto Sea area. They can never meet without fighting, and in the anime had Kasuga not come along to warn the two groups that the fight against Oda had began, it would probably have been to the death. Not only this, but considering Motonari's goal in his blue route has always been to destroy Motochika--no one else, just him--is telling on how far he's willing to go against him. Motonari holds a deep hatred for Motochika, given the fact that he sees the other as beneath him, yet Motochika speaks of them as equals. The fact that Motochika is a pirate doesn't help either - it only further ruins his opinion of him. He doesn't understand Keiji's way of thinking, as to him people are only to be used for the battlefield anyway - just like a chessboard. He has very little connection to others whatsoever, and even when it does it is usually always in a similar way to his relationship to Motochika - rivalry or full enemies.

Motonari Mōri | Sengoku BASARA (expired reserve)

[personal profile] sunfapper 2014-07-14 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Abilities/Powers:

❚❚❚❚❚ supernatural powers

Motonari's base power is that of 'light', specifically, sunlight. His methods of attack vary between offensive and defensive.

❚❚❚ Offensive
❚ Using his ring blade, Motonari can summon a sunbeam that appears from the air behind him. It can only hit one spot at a time, then move forward to burn the space in front of it, so he has to aim carefully to make sure he doesn't miss his target.
❚ Using the same ring blade, he can create 'force fields' by spinning the blade in circles in front of him. If 2 force fields are created, the area between them (granted they are not too far apart) becomes a sort of vacuum that throws whoever or whatever is inside around. This injures a target.
❚ Simlar to the force field mentioned above, Motonari can summon a circle around a group of enemies that creates the same kind of vacuum effect. However, he must keep spinning his ring blade to keep this in motion.
❚ The decoy mentioned below can be activated as a bomb to cause damage to the close area.
❚ His basara attack (pressing circle with a full gauge) is Motonari powered up with light as he spins to attack enemies. The attack finishes with a mini sun appearing in the air above his head, raining down light on any in it's proximity.

❚❚❚ Defensive
❚ Motonari can create a decoy of himself. This appears as a green light, yet any enemy will be drawn to it like a moth to a flame, unaware that it is not actually him they're attacking.
❚ The same force field as mentioned in offensive abilities can be used to reflect attacks and be used as a protective barrier.

❚❚❚❚❚ normal abilities

❚❚❚ Offensive
❚ He's fast and quick with his weapon.
❚ Skilled at using a ring blade, which can be split in two and used as two curved swords.
❚ Strong enough to withstand attacks from people like Yukimura and Motochika despite not having visible muscle strength.
❚ Fights in heels that needs a bullet point of it's own right...

❚❚❚ Defensive
❚ A brilliant tactician. In his route he used his own dedication to protecting the Mori clan against Motochika and produced an elaborate story. In this story, he told Motochika that Ieyasu had trampled over both of their lands, leaving many of his clan dead too. All along it had been him to attack Shikoku, to leave the bloody banners, and it was him who destroyed Motochika's friendship with Ieyasu--even though Motochika hates him and knows to not trust him. He knows how to use words and evidence well, let's say.
❚ He's cautious. He's willing to be patient and wait something out than dive head first into a situation, especially if it's necessary to plan out tactics beforehand.

Here is an example of a stage which shows most of these moves.

Items/Weapons: His ring blade, Ieyasu's flag/banner covered in mud and blood that he used to trick Motochika with..., spare shirt/trousers because lbr he won't find clothes that ridiculous in haven...

Sample Entry: link one & link two & three
Sample Entry Two:

His memories flashed before his eyes. An uphill struggle versus another great mind, lies he'd spun to trick weaker men and the chase of hunting down Motochika Chosokabe until he was laying dead and cold on the ground in front of him. When he'd awoken in the bed confusion had obviously been his first response, but the question and doubt that followed was not usual for him; however, how was he to blame for that given the state of the place he'd awoken in?

Had it all been a lie, too? Had the wet sound of flesh in his ears been a lie? Was the other not really dead? He was too clean to be covered in blood to begin with, so using that detail for the truth was impossible, so he used logic. He stepped outside.

Whatever he had expected to find wasn't this. It was desolate, yet somehow far more modern than the world he was used to. Ikutsushima was mainly wooden, designed as a temple on the edge of the sea. The concrete here was unfamiliar. The buildings, the well, even the sun in the sky felt surreal. He bit down on panic, bit down on any rise of emotion that threatened to overwhelm him and tried to look into this logically. He thought of possibilities, yet none made any sense, and he thought of ways to find information. Walking, he thought, would be the start.

He took his weapon with him, of course, not willing to be caught unguarded in unfamiliar territory. He kept it loose and over his shoulder, ready to be spun into action given slight movement that was deemed threatening.

He only stopped when he reached the billboard, eyes taking in the picture and the words written in large text.

"Is that how this is to be?" Despite the circumstances, he didn't sound surprised. In fact, his tone almost sounds as though he's mocking the picture--perhaps even questioning it at the same time. "Very well, I'll see how safe this 'Haven' truly is. Then when it's all over, I'll strike you down too." Whoever that is aimed at, however, is unfamiliar to him. That, fortunately, won't stop him or make him give up in the slightest. An elaborate plot was brewing the shade of the sun--and it was Motonari who stood in the centre, beginning to wonder how to weave another web of lies. It would take time, but as it seemed as though time was something he had plenty of, that would be no issue. The first step-- "Let's see who else is here, shall we?"
